Yalmar Martinez from Dennis Emergency Restoration has proven himself and this company to be incompetent, unqualified, dishonest, rude, condescending, threatening, and unprofessional! He disappeared before completing the job and took some of my property with him. The contract stated that the job would take 2 months and 8 months later, it remains incomplete. tldr: I liked working with them at the beginning and I think they did a decent job, but my main issue is that I wasn't able to get them to follow up on some finishing touches. I tried to get them to fix a scratch in my hardwood floors since they were the ones who last refinished it, but after several calls and texts they never responded and I gave up. A simple no would have been nice (I understand that it's a much smaller job), instead of wasting my energy of trying to reach them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I needed to use this contractor because they did some work on the property after a leak issue during the escrow process (I'm they buyer and they worked with my building's HOA and the seller during the escrow). Along with refinishing the floors and fixing some walls, they replaced just the bottom cabinets of the kitchen. Although they missed replacing a small section of base boards, I thought their work generally looked nice! Since I wanted the upper kitchen cabinets to match the lowers, I gave them a call to do so as well. For the most part, I communicated with Yalmar and initially liked him! He was clear to talk and easy to arrange plans with. He also answers via text sometimes, which I loved, since I personally hate calls. The cabinets themselves were done by Isreal, who was also nice and easy to speak with. I thought he did an okay job. The cabinets themselves are functional and look pretty nice other than looking unfinished in some parts of the cabinets' underside. Unfortunately, my air ducts that lead to the over-the-range microwave no longer work since the height of the cabinets covering them were changed. They did however warn me of this before making the change, but didn't really tell me how the change may affect things. I'm willing to let that slide though, as I'm the one who didn't really think that through. Yalmar said he'd let me know if he had a contact who could handle this, but never got back to me on this. During the process, I think they may have left (what is at least I think) a large scratch in my newly refinished hardwood floors. I'm not 100% sure though, just that the scratch wasn't there before the cabinets were put in. I honestly didn't mind as long as they could take a look to try to fix it because they were the last people to do work on the floors (even if I had to pay extra for it). However, after several attempts to call them to set something up, I gave up. Yalmar initially promised to ask his floor guy to see if they had time to come by, but after leaving several texts and voicemails asking him to follow up throughout a few weeks, I gave up, as he never texted or called me back. Up until the trying to get the scratch fixed, I would have given them a good review! It was really frustrating for them to never answer me about the scratch in the floor. I know that it's a small job for them and has much less of a priority, but if that's the case it would have been nice to just be told no instead of ghosting me. Wow what an utter and complete disaster!!! This company is the worst and they are an absolute rip off. Do not use!! Their bid changed not once, not twice but THREE TIMES.. every time they came out they changed their bid. They came out to one of our properties and completely gutted the whole bathroom and whats worse is they broke door frames and things that had nothing to do with "restoration". These incompetent idiots caused $3200 worth of damage. We are in the process of filing a small claims lawsuit against them. read more

As a property manager in the Pasadena area, I have known Dennis and Yalmar since 2008... they've always done great work, are very punctual, polite and reasonably priced for the work that they do. As a general contractor specializing in high-end homes, I have had occasion to recommend Dennis and Yalmar to my clients and they also have been very pleased. Also, aside from carpet cleaning and steam cleaning, they offer emergency water damage mitigation and restoration services and I have used them in that capacity twice as well. Both of those times they arrived well-equipped and took care of the problems and standing water and were able to dry the areas out to prevent mold and mildew.... I am currently in a dispute with this company because of their failure to refund me the amount $1,870.33 for wood flooring which I paid for. The company received full invoice payment which includes the wood flooring but Yalmar Martinez has stated that he was not fully paid. We had a toilet that leaked for years over a pipe that caused it to burst and leak for months. This caused water damage and mold! Yalmar and Dennis Emergency Restoration handled the demo on our master bathroom, bedroom and hallway. The hardwood floors were removed, tile, some walls and mold abatement. Underneath our house they had to sand and clean beams and remove mold. It was a HUGE mess. They made this stressful process better by keeping us posted the entire project and removing the mold. We trusted them with our home which we had to move out of for almost 2 weeks. They were very respectful of us, our house and did an excellent job. I had a few places bid on the project and their bid was the best. I recommend you always get multiple bids and discuss expectations for any large job like this. I would give this company a negative star rating if I could. I received a pre-paid carpet cleaning as a gift. I called to redeem it on 1/29 (scheduled for 2/14). Yalmar Martinez told me that I would need to text him my address with the specific instruction of leaving my key under the mat. I did that, and he confirmed the appt. I proceeded to make arrangments to have my dogs out of my home so that they would not interfere with the work being done ($50 to have them at doggie day care), and I made sure to have all of my furniture moved to make their job easier. I come home to find they did not show up. Not only did they not show up, but I received no phone call stating that the work would not be done. Apparently, Yalmar failed to mention that I would be leaving a key under the mat, so the cleaners left when no one answered the door. When I came home to find that my prepaid service was not done, I immediately called Yalmar; what I got from him was beyond frustrating. NO APOLOGY. NO EXPLANATION. Just an "oh. well, let me see if there's anything I can do". I asked him for the owners number, he wouldnt give it to me. I asked for an immediate call back, and he is now ignoring me. Keep in mind that they already have the money for the service that was not done! Being in property management, I work with a lot of different vendors for restoration and cleaning. This is BY FAR the most unprofessional and rude company I have had to deal with. Apparently they dont care about their business or their customers. I highly recommend NOT using this company unless you are into guessing whether a service is going to get done or not after you've paid them. I am in the process of trying to get my money back so I can go with someone else who VALUES their business. As for Yalmar.... You might want to go into a different profession where you don't have to deal with people, and you wouldn't need any organizational skills- because clearly, these are not things you are good at. read more

We had a large mold infestation on our floors and behind our kitchen sink and walls. The guys at Dennis Emergency Restoration were able to come do a quick assessment and give us a quote. What I appreciated most was how Yalmar (one of Dennis' team members and son) walked us through the process each step of the way. Although they couldn't save the cabinets, and the granite counter top, Yalmar informed us each step of the process so that we can make that decision for them to gut those items. They were able to do demolition and clean off the mold no problem and in a fair amount of time (one week).
