The dentist was also very kind and took the time to explain why certain treatment options would or wouldn't work in my situation. I appreciated that he answered my questions and made sure I understood the treatment plan. I do have several extractions that need to be done by an oral surgeon, and I also have a couple of vacations coming up, so I understand that some of the larger dental work will need to wait until after those are completed. The only thing I wish had been handled differently is my cavities. Even though I have more extensive dental work ahead, I would have liked to start treating the cavities that are already causing some sensitivity, rather than waiting. My biggest concern is preventing them from getting worse while I'm working through the rest of my treatment plan. Going to the dentist is a huge milestone for me. I have significant dental anxiety, and it took me an entire year of therapy to get to the point where I could walk into a dental office. Because of that, I'm very motivated to take care of my teeth--not just the major procedures, but also the cavities before they progress. Overall, everyone was kind, professional, and supportive, and I'm grateful for the care I received. I look forward to continuing my treatment.

When I first started my search, I visited another dentist who quoted me nearly $8,000 for a root canal--even after insurance (Delta Dental). I was in pain, overwhelmed, and desperate for the right care. From the moment I called Ethos, I knew I was in good hands. The receptionists are some of the kindest, most attentive people I've ever met--they listen with care, are incredibly organized, and made sure I was seen right away. At my first appointment, Paige (the hygienist) was wonderful--gentle, thorough, and genuinely kind. The office itself is spotless, modern, and so comfortable. Each room has a TV with headphones, clean cozy blankets, and little touches that make you feel at ease. Dr. Vargas has been an absolute light throughout my entire experience. He is not only highly intelligent and skilled, but also approachable and compassionate. He explained every step of my care plan clearly, always put my best interest first, and made sure I felt heard and comfortable. I needed a couple of root canals (my first ever), and while I was nervous, the process was painless, quick, and seamless. Their referral for an endodontist was also excellent. Back at Ethos, Carlos did an amazing job crafting my temporary crown--it was carefully sculpted, perfectly color-matched, and surprisingly comfortable. My permanent crown was also a perfect fit, and when I needed a minor adjustment afterward, Dr. Vargas immediately got me in and personally followed up to make sure everything felt right. The fact that he even called me after appointments to check in says everything about the level of care here. More recently, I had another cleaning and started their whitening program. The team took into account my teeth sensitivity and took the time to explain the process thoroughly and made sure my whitening trays were precise and comfortable. At that visit I also saw Dr. Sewell, who was so fun, energetic, and personable--he has a fantastic sense of humor and made the whole experience enjoyable. From start to finish, Ethos has gone above and beyond in every aspect of care. Whether you see Dr. Vargas or Dr. Sewell, you will be treated with kindness, expertise, and genuine care. 5 star reviewed turned into one star…read more I was a first time patient here a couple months back and at the time, absolutely loved it. Friendly staff, clean office, yada yada. They asked me to do a 5 star review for them, so I did. One month later I received a bill in the mail for a special type "resin" they used while filling a cavity that wasn't covered by my insurance. Never once did they ask me if I wanted an "out of coverage type resin" or show me a projected bill showing I'd be charged for this filling. They told me I had a cavity that needed filling, they filled it, felt great & I booked another appointment 6 months later for my next routine visit. Unfortunately, this place is a SCAM & I would not bring my business here which is sad because at first glance, it seems great. But do yourself a favor and find an honest dentist. Now I'm stuck paying for something I cannot fight because the filling has been done & according to them, I owe them money. Not cool. If there was a negative star, I'd give it.

Medi-cal dental patients beware! I chose right now dental because they were in plan with Medi-Cal…read more It was recommended that I get a deep cleaning which needed to be approved. When I went in for my deep cleaning, they said it was protocol for me to get laser cleaning as part of their deep cleaning regimen which was an additional $190. I kindly refused the laser treatment and they in turn refused to perform the Medi-Cal covered/ approved deep cleaning if I did not get the laser treatment. I will be reporting this to the Medi-Cal board as this seems like a negligent upsell on their part to refuse treatment without paying out of pocket for laser treatment. Feels like a bait and switch to me and with medi-cal fraud on the rise, I will be getting a second opinion. I hope other Medi-Cal clients highly reconsider hidden fees before they choose this dentist.

Gallery Smiles appeared on top of our list and it was not too far from home so we decided to give them a call to make an appointment... SERVICE: Excellent A+ customer service! There were two friendly and pretty looking ladies at the front desk working very hard. They were patient over the phone and in person! ARRIVED: When we arrived at our appointment we were given paper work to fill out which was not too long or unreasonable... However, I found out later that the Dr. Lau does the cleaning herself and not the hygienist! This is very rare to find because usually the hygienist does the cleaning. I actually really like that she does everything herself and she takes her time to thoroughly clean and diagnose any problems she may find. I like how they also check your blood pressure and how Dr. Lau checks around your neck for signs of cancer... I felt like I got a 2 in 1 experience!!! Being at the dentist and doctor's office at the same time!!!! She doesn't seem like the kind of dentist that would UPSELL you on doing unnecessary DENTAL PROCEDURES just to MAX out your dental insurance claims!!! Believe me, I've been through that before and I did not experience that here... We all need an Honest and Trustworthy Dentist and so far I've found 2/10 dentists in my life so far. That said, I was happy this dentist was closer to the road that takes us back into town and within our network. Well she turned out to be as excellent as all past reviews stated and after having dodged not going every year like I should have, she did a thorough look at what we were dealing with and stated I was going to need a lot of work for the short term as I needed to be free of any infections for a planned surgery I'm having soon. She actually needed to correct a lot of the prior work my former dentist had done that was done incorrectly (it really saddens me to say this as it was a long time dentist I really entrusted mines & my family care in, but it's truth, plus I'm being nice & won't slam former dentist, but other words would indicate their work was careless or even poorly done). Whew! That's a lot of detail to bring out. Anyhow, in a matter of two months it was all done, every appointment they would call me in promptly and though there were a few times I was anticipated in being there awhile, it felt as if it went fast and Dr Lau explained everything thoroughly, was always professional, had her billing assistant work with me on spreading the payments (I must say Delta insurance has gone downhill in past 25 years & doesn't cover major work done like they used to) and her staff has always been polite and always helpful. Location is great, it's in a medium sized medical building with plenty of parking in a nice area not far from the wineries I'll be going to her from now on.
