Well, here it is just a few weeks later and we already went back here for another meal, because our companion wanted breakfast and Denny's serves it all day long. I decided to go with lunch, as did my wife. I settled on the Mushroom and Swiss melt with the regular fries rather than the spiced fries. I believe it was on the special fall addition to the menu. The sandwich was excellent, juicy with plenty of sauce, pickles and tasted great. The fries, like last time, cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the Diner Dipper trio. She picked the sliders, chicken tenders and fries. She too was very happy with her selection. Our companion had her breakfast: a veggie omelette with a fruit cup and English muffin. She was happy with it. It reminded me of a time long ago at a faraway branch of this restaurant chain when I received a fruit cup that was made up only of grapes. I wondered why they didn't just tell me they couldn't offer it. Thankfully on this day her cup had grapes, banana and strawberries. The service was great except for a minor glitch of me being given someone else's check, but that was easily sorted out. So my opinion has actually improved after our second visit, and this Denny's goes on our short list of go-to restaurants for times we don't want to try a new place in Bangor. read more

Music was so loud staff had to yell at each other to be heard over it, sausage was cold bacon was rock hard and toast came with a bonus hair under it. Its unfortunate because there are not a lot of breakfast options. Your best bet, stick with mom and pop diners like Newport or Hampden. read more

Went to Denny's for breakfast and was sadly disappointed. This location seems to be very understaffed and underfunded. Most of the seats are ripped and decorations are old and damaged. One half of the restaurants tables were not being used which resulted in an hour wait time and lines out the door. Our food came out wrong, hash browns were pretty much raw potato, they were sold out of cold brew coffee at 9am. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the waitresses and staff, who despite the conditions were very friendly and nice. read more

It was very busy. Thanksgiving night. Yet, the staff were hoping around trying to accommodate everyone. They were apologetic for the slight delay, but it was understandable for how many people were there and to find out there was two no shows from workers. The food was delicious as always. My hubby and I had dinner here tonight, and it was an awful disaster. Our waitress must be from Mars cause she was way out their. I ordered the Carmel banana cream pancakes with a side dish of warmed up soft. I needed these soft due to stitches in my mouth from major oral surgery. The first were still semi hard, so I put those in the middle to soften. /hey were out of bananas, so I asked for again soften strawberries, and they were cold and hard, not good. My hubby's dinner was a 6 out of 10, and the salad they gave him was not good, yes not good. The lettuce was very bitter. The waitress told him to take it home and he said no, it's too bitter it's no good and she still insisted. Now, at this point, my hubby is starting to get a bit upset. He said just throw it away, and I'll take an order of onion rings. She comes back saying they will give him free onion rings cause of the bad salad, and this is what she brought out. Yes, that many! He wanted a full order, which he was gonna pay for. I asked for a strawberry milkshake with a lot of whipping cream, and it was awful. It's very watery, like just cold milk, and I mean that, and I got maybe a teaspoon of cream. I sent it back. I just couldn't drink it. I got a glass of milk instead, and all the way from the kitchen, she's dropping milk, and them puts my glass on the table hard with milk dripping down the sides of the glass. This was the worst experience we have ever had, and we are not sure if we will return. We usually have breakfast, and this is our first time having dinner. Every time that I have gone to this Denny's the food has been amazing. The last time I went there, they had a waitress that was shadowing. She was so sweet and kind and patient with me and my family. The food was very filling and really good. The Hash browns were a little burnt but they were delicious. I have no bad things to say about their food. I recommend this place because the service is amazing, the food is great, and by the time you leave you will most likely be full. I am giving this place 4 stars because they don't allow free refills on Hot Chocolate. But other than that I was very satisfied with the food and service and the atmosphere was very lively. read more

This Denny's has the WORST management and atmosphere. The cook Heidi howls at the top of her out of tune lungs to the music blaring from the kitchen. Your entire meal is cringing from dying cat screeching. The manager was super flippant and rude when asked if she could ask her to stop. She actually told us that the cook has FANS that travel from around the world to hear her sing and specifically ask for her shifts to hear her sing. She said we shouldn't expect a quiet atmosphere because it's not a fine dining restaurant and this is their atmosphere and it's too bad if we don't like it. The server was nice and very embarrassed about the behavior. Tables around us left in anger and got no help from complaining either. Corporate needs to address this hot mess. This rating is not a reflection of server we had taking care of us. It is, in fact, a reflection of the manager type woman that reprimanded and argued with one of her kitchen staff members in front of all of her customers. She was very loudly talking and undoubtedly there wasn't one person in this restaurant that didn't hear what she had to say. I was embarrassed for the kitchen staff but more importantly I was appalled at her managerial skills. First rule of thumb, as a manager; If you have something to say or someone that requires a discussion. It should be done in private. Run, don't walk away from this horror show of a restaurant!!  I've never experienced such a loud, obnoxious staff in my entire life. They had music screaming from the kitchen but that couldn't match the screaming from the STAFF! All communication was yelled through the kitchen and across the restaurant. When we asked to speak with the manager, Beth Runnels, she approached our table with one word..."Yes?". When we told her of our complete dissatisfaction with the decibel level of the staff (not customers at all) never did she apologize. Instead, she claimed that they receive more compliments than complaints (51% vs 49%?) therefore our complaint was invalid. She also stated that her staff liked the work environment. Never did she voice any concern whatsoever about our terrible experience. When I told her how amazed I was to be told I was WRONG about my complaint, she stormed off and said we needed to leave...which of course we promptly did.  I just looked up Beth's LinkedIn profile and it states she's been a manager at Denny's for over 17 years. I'm stunned that anyone so rude and unprofessional could hold a management position for 17 days, much less 17 years. If I find this to be true I will NEVER eat at another Dennys anywhere. Their corporate should be ashamed that one of their restaurants would be allowed to operate this way and employ such rude staff and nasty managers! BTW...go to Google reviews and read their one star reviews of this restaurant. 95% are written to complain about the obnoxious noise belched out by the staff.  Apparently they are all "wrong" to complain, at least according to Mgr Beth Runnels. The audio chaos assaults you as soon as you step into the building! Music being played in the kitchen is so loud that it prevents one from enjoying a peaceful meal or hold any quality conversation. Adding to the chaos is a head cook that hollers unnecessarily when an order is up. In addition she and sometimes others in back of the house will sing at the top of their lungs adding to the noise chaos. I would ask the owner and manager to be thoughtful and present while considering the following recommendations. 1. Review feedback on what appears to be a common thread of similar complaint. 2. Establish a policy that provides an appropriate level of volume for a radio that is conducive to an eating establishment. 3. Review, monitor and maintain a high standard for employee behavior at a worksite. I hope this review is helpful to future customers, but more importantly, helpful to the owner and manager as they work towards improving and providing a pleasant and positive dining experience for future diners. read more

Walked in behind another couple. We were never greeted or acknowledged. After about 5 minutes we stopped someone to ask the wait time. We came in at the end of the morning rush, so it was still a bit busy. But, customers really should be, at the very least, greeted when they come in. While waiting to be seated I witness the cook without gloves and flipping pancakes with their hands. So. You want to talk about dennys. This walmart Ihop was a terrible experience as i went in for the first time yesterday. I went in with low expectations and they somehow gave a meal worse than i expected. I ordered homegries and a bacon egg cheese sandwhich. How the fu k do you mess up that order you may ask? Pretty straight foward order. But somehow they managed too. On top of every waitress there looking like the girl ogres in shrek, the food was boring and had no flavor too it. As a bacon egg cheese conesour, ive never met a sandwich i didnt like. Until yesterday. Homefries were mushy and gross and the sandwich tasted like something the ogres spent 1.5 minutes on. We came in and the waitresses were running around looking very stressed, even though it wasn't very busy. It took 15 minutes for us to get seated and another 15 before we were able to order. There were unbussed tables all around us and it was obvious that they didn't have enough waitstaff on hand to handle what was honestly pretty modest business. We ordered a skillet and an omelette, and had to wait for about 25 minutes, sipping our tea very slowly and wondering if it would ever come. When it did, the skillet didn't come with the side order of eggs we'd asked for (or any chorizo, which was supposed to be a main ingredient!) and my omelette didn't have any of the queso I'd asked for. There was a guy with a mobile phone on his belt wandering around aimlessly- at first I thought he was a health inspector, but then he started trying to bus tables and I realized he was some kind of manager, and it was obvious that he had never done an honest day's worth of work in a restaurant, with the finicky way he was picking up every single dish like he was afraid to get his hands dirty. Eventually our server brought us our missing eggs and queso, and told us that they'd be comping our meals and apologized for the wait (I wonder how many people they had to do that for that night). To her credit, she was completely courteous and as cool as a person could be in that situation. We still tipped her a tenner. A good manager would have told the host to stop seating people and let the waitstaff catch up, not stand around looking at the ceiling while everyone else was trying to seat and serve more people than they could manage. Overall it's a 5 star Denny's diner in terms of service and food quality, keeping in mind it is still a Denny's. The waitresses have always been friendly, the food is above average for a Denny's, in my opinion, it stands out above other Denny's I've dined at before. The reason it's getting a 4 star is because the entrance/seating/takeout is somewhere between a 2 and a 3 star. There is no organization in the front! Almost every time we've been there, and there's any amount of people greater than 2 parties, it starts to get hectic/chaotic. People don't take names down for tables, it's not clear who is waiting for a table or for takeout, people waiting to check out are stuck in the same line as people placing takeout orders, it's a mess. One memorable time we actually waited 45 minutes because someone eventually was taking down names, and then somehow wrote my name down wrong, and so when they called out my 'name' we didn't respond because it wasn't anything resembling Liz or Elizabeth (the scribbling on the list had it written as Lisa, which is not something I'd think to respond to since it's also a common name). They did move us up to next on the list at that point, but that was really frustrating when we were waiting 20 extra minutes beyond when we should have been seated. So, the lack of organization up front is what knocks this Denny down to a 4 star for me, and honestly if the service and food weren't so good compared other Denny's it would be a three star. I definitely plan to update my review if they ever fix the organization issue, because other than that this is a really good Denny's! read more

The food here is classic American breakfast fare, so of course it's pretty delicious. Definitely not the most high quality food or the fanciest, but still tastes great (especially at 2am if you're a constantly hungry college student like me). The milkshakes are my favorite thing on the menu despite feeling like I've gained 20 lbs from drinking just one. The only qualm I have with Denny's is that the service isn't always the quickest, which I understand as they're typically very busy. However, often times my waiter won't even welcome or address me for a while until they finish up with other tables. Even a quick "Welcome to Denny's, I'll be right with you" would make a huge difference. I don't mind waiting and am a patient person, but I've seen other customers express the same frustrations. read more

Worst experience ever! Spent 20 minutes waiting to be seated. Once we were finally seated, it took another 20 minutes to just order drinks. Our drinks came out about 15 min later but the server walked away without taking our order. After almost an hour between being seated and getting our drinks, I grew frustrated, called over a server, asked for our bill for our drinks and then paid and left. Will never go again. read more

This is the nicest Denny's I've been too in my 50+ years. The staff is so very friendly and helpful and the food was fresh. We are in the middle of the Covid quarantine and were trying to find a place open so we could get a meal. This Denny's let us come in, sit down and eat right at closing time. The food was tasty.
