This was the worst meal and outing of all that a friend and I had during our trip to Ohio to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. We were heading back and it was nearly 11 PM and we needed to stop and get dinner. This was one of the few restaurants open that late, but despite that, we thought it was reasonable to expect to get a half-decent and edible meal somewhere that late, even at a location of Denny's in a travel stop. But it was terrible, the food was very bad, and the service was no better. I'd rate this dump a zero if giving a rating of zero stars was possible here. I ordered a side dish of macaroni and cheese as an appetizer, and order a double cheeseburger with bacon and fries, and asked the fries to be cooked extra well done, with a diet coke with no ice. The diet coke tasted a little soapy, which tells me they didn't clean and maintain their soda fountain machine properly. The macaroni and cheese was undercooked, bland, not every cheese, and overall had a little flavor. Kraft mac and cheese out of the box, without being doctored up, would be better than this slop they served and claimed it was macaroni and cheese. I ate two bites, the first to realize it was poor tasting, the second only confirmed how terrible it was. I ordered the burger with two slices of cheddar, and I could detect a little cheddar that hadn't melted off the over-cooked and bland cheeseburger, and it was weak tasting cheddar at best. The burger itself had little flavor and I ordered it on a whole wheat bun, which was perhaps the only edible part of the burger. The fries were cold and bland, and not extra well done as I requested. The food was just bland, flavorless, badly cooked, not as requested, and barely edible. Just terrible overall. The service was no better, the waitress did as little as she could, and to tell her how bad the food was I had to flag her down after she whizzed by me ten times before I could get attention. I told her how bad the food was, and she said she would be right back. She came back to inform me that she addressed my concern with a supervisor, who told her to tell me they would reduce by ticket by 15 percent. A whole 15 percent off for food that was terrible and service that wasn't much better, how generous of them. I didn't know whether to laugh or be outraged, but I just accepted it and said okay. After attempting to eat this swill, both of us ended up in the bathroom. While waiting for me in the bathroom, my friend stepped out only to overhear our waitress and the head cook complaining about customers not paying tips. I my 15 percent reduced bill as charged, but in one of the rare instances, I gave no tip for this completely horrible food and service. While walking out the waitress and cook were still standing outside, puffing away on cancer sticks, and I said to my friend, this meal was trash958 (which is an inside joke), and then I realized the two of them wouldn't know what that means, and I said "the food was garbaaaaaaaaaaaaage," hoping they heard it. Never eat this dump unless you think getting sick on bad food is an enjoyable experience. I once ate at the Denny's in the Flying J travel stop in Fort Chiswell, Virginia, and the food there was much better than the garbage I was served at this location in Ohio. read more

I'm giving a 1 star because I can't give it ZERO stars..... My BF is a truck driver and just stopped at this location (June 3, 2024 at 9:35pm) to get dinner which he has done many times before....... He walked in and up to the counter to order which doesn't require you to WAIT to be seated. I was on the phone with him and heard this conversation. As he was walking towards the counter, an EXTREMELY rude, bald man with glasses started yelling at him. He asked him if he was yelling at him to which the ignorant individual responded yeah I am since you walked by two signs that said wait to be seated. Needless to say my BF had some choice words to say back and promptly walked right back out the door. Pretty sad when the staff which I'm assuming was management level yells at a potential paying customer because he walked to the counter to be served.....absolutely pathetic!! I'm going to assume if he spoke to my BF that way, he's done it to many others too and my guess is you're losing a lot of business! Might want to do a training with staff about customer service and how customers should be treated!! Especially those who are in the trucking industry who may be delivering YOUR product so you can continue to keep your restaurant open!! read more

I spent lots of time on the toilet last night considering what to write about the complete garbage that I had the other night. The steak tasted old, the mashed potatoes were institutional, and the macuroni and cheese wasn't fit for inmates. The waitress was very short and rude. And then when I refused to give a tip, I heard her complaining outside on a break about how she gets no tips, and to who? The incompetent cook. So the cook who serves the slop gets to console the waitress that is forced to serve it. Go figure, a complete and utter joke of a restaurant. After sitting on the toilet all night with diarrhea I've had all I can take. The cook is so full of herself thinking shes so good and doesnt understand why the waitstaff gets screwed. I have more respect for lot-lizards than the staff at this Denny's, because at least you get what you paid for, the satisfaction is most likely higher, and they probably dont complain nearly as much! Ugh...stay away from this place...the worst experience I've had in years. read more

I then sat outside for another 20 minutes in the rain, and no one ever brought my food out. Eventually, I gave up and went inside. I explained that I had called 20 minutes earlier and had been waiting outside. The employee immediately walked over to the bar, picked up my bag, and handed it to me. Clearly, my food had just been sitting there the entire time. There was no apology, no explanation, no attempt to make the situation right, nothing. It was basically just, "Here's your food." When I got home, it was even more frustrating. My Cajun chicken pasta was cold and looked extremely skimpy, with barely any chicken or sauce stuffed in this small container. On top of that, the bag containing the biscuits was visibly ripped open, which is completely unacceptable for a food order. What makes this worse is that I chose not to leave a negative review the last time this happened because I understand that restaurants get busy and things happen. But now I've had essentially the same experience twice, sitting outside for 20-30 minutes waiting for an order that was apparently already sitting inside, with no communication and absolutely no concern from the staff. At this point, it's not just about having to wait. It's the complete lack of customer service or accountability. If curbside pickup is being offered, customers shouldn't have to eventually come inside and track down food that has been sitting there getting cold. And when something clearly goes wrong, even a simple apology would go a long way.
