It has been years since we have been to a Denny's. We were in town for a morning errand and had not had breakfast. I suggested this place and my daughter said, Yes! We were greeted by a friendly hostess. She even asked if a table was okay vs a booth. Actually with an 86 year old mother with dementia, a table was a much better choice. Our server came by within a few minutes. She introduced us to a new employee that was shadowing her. She brought waters and our drinks first. We asked her about the low cost specials which she showed us on the extra menu. My daughter was hungry and ordered the Lumberjack off the menu which was a lot of food. My mother and I got the $5.99 special with pancakes, eggs and either 2 sausage or 2 bacon or 1 of each. My husband got the Moon over my Hammy sandwich. We got our order within 15 minutes. Everything was cooked to perfection. No complaints at all. I was actually surprised by the low Yelp reviews but noticed most were very old reviews. For being a Denny's we weren't expecting a high class brunch restaurant but was pleased that I could give them a solid 5 stars. Our server was great and her shadow even brought us more syrup and napkins. The prices we paid were very reasonable for what we got. My daughter left with some leftovers and she exclaimed that Denny's was her happy place from when she was little and still was. Great job guys! read more

Cheryl was great, she gave excellent service and was so kind. My complaint is with the onion rings we paid extra for... what you see in the photo is all you get for an extra dollar. The staff explained that the amount was what the owner of this Denny's says is appropriate because of the portion. Which makes me feel pretty irritated because if it's portioned the same as the fries in the other photo both of which under this theory should be equal it's clear that the owner is just being cheap. It's an onion... this wasn't even half of an onion. So if you want good service go see Cheryl. But if you want good portions don't expect to get it from this tight wad... maybe leave him an onion as a tip. read more

The only reason I give money to this place is the late night munchies. GOODLUCK getting the one employees attention long enough to ask questions, order or get the bill. If your requesting a delivery - it WILL be late, mainly due to under staffing at the restaurant and horrible procedures. . Or lack there of. I ordered ICE CREAM at midnight, and didn't get it until 1:45 am. How does it take an hour and half to scoop ICE CREAM?! ON TOP OF THAT, it was MELTED by the time I got it. Like they don't have a freezer, or two. Yikes . Its one thing to have awful customer service, inconsistent procedures and no staff. But it's just stupid, and inconsiderate, to not put ice cream in the freezer when they don't tell the delivery driver that the ice cream is ready for pickup. I have to wonder if it's this woman's first job EVER, OR does she leave her ice cream on the counter normally as well. Like honey, I called to make sure u put my ice cream in the bag. Ordered the festive salted caramel and banana cream pancakes. I only wanted the pancakes and hash browns (the breakfast comes with pancakes, hash browns, eggs and meat), only to find out they do not have al a carte option. The good: the pancakes were fluffy and large. The bananas were fresh and hash browns were appropriately seasoned. The bad: There was only a smidgen of salted caramel sauce and what was on the pancake completely absorbed into the pancake. So, I was really bummed about that. I was in the restaurant about a week ago. The food was Denny's, nothing to write home about, but still good. However; when I went to the men's restroom I found the condition very upsetting. There was a moldy/mildew smell and the floors and walls were grimy. You could tell that it was the product of long term mediocre cleaning. I just felt like the owners or managers had just given up on demanding a high standard of cleanliness. The biggest problem I saw, and I suspect the main source of the odors, was the floor drain. It looked like it was half blocked and had congealed grease or something in it. I'm not saying I'll never go back, but I will definitely go check the restroom first, because if that is their standard for a public area, I am definitely worried about what the kitchen looks like. read more

Had dinner with my granddaughter on my birthday. We had rapid, friendly service, and the food was hot and delicious. Our waitress was nice and we had fun talking with her. I had the All American Slam all bacon, the kiddo had a Build-a-Slam and a Hot Fudge Sundae for dessert. The only reason for the 4 stars is that I had to wait quite awhile to pay because only the Manager could ring up my birthday discount, and she was busy running the grill. Was seated promptly. Waiter came over and took our order. He didn't seem to think he need to write the order down. He came back to the table to have me repeat the order, left and then came back again and asked. Okay after the first time you figure he's got it, second time he asks I'm questioning if he's able to remember. Came back the 3rd time with our drinks. Drank one sip of coffee and it was cold. I come here a lot, and I love all the servers. Chelsea is absolutely amazing. She works hard and cares for her customers. Cheri is not exactly my favorite, I find her very rude and she didn't care to tell me they were out of a sauce and proceeded to order my food and give it to me without the sauce. I kindly asked to just get it redone and found out they didn't have the sauce. Everytime she's here, she's rude to customers, she's greedy, and very fake. In my opinion of course. I just love it! Food delicious veggie omelette with avocado no cheese, fruit and toast bread. Service was incredible super fast. Usually on other Dennys I have to wait a long time but in here with the amount of workers they have is super fast. You can even see the manager cooking for a better service. To me I recommend this place. In addition to this before I was leaving a guy walks in with a to go order that never went thru and claim to speak to a manager. As you all might know orders online are manage different so it doesn't take place at the locations. So if something goes wrong with the order there is Nothing they can do about it. I just ordered this for dinner tonight after a long day at work and really not wanting to cook. I was skeptical about Denny's as most people are but I decided to order anyway. I got the slam burger and my wife got the grand slam and I gotta say, whoever is the cook tonight deserves a raise. Burger- seasoned beautifully. The bun you'd think would be soggy with a sunny side up egg in there but it was perfect. The pancakes were fluffy and the eggs, outstanding. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was not ready for how good this was gonna be. 10/10 will order again. I hope y'all give that cook a raise because they know what their doing! read more

I have had lunch here more than once, mainly due to the low variety of choices of restaurants available for the time frame I have allotted for lunch. In a nutshell, the food and service are sub-par. When ordering a grilled sandwich (the Super Bird), the sandwiched is grilled long enough to make the butter melt and the bread become soggy similar to lightly toasted bread with too much butter. It just become a luke warm greasy mess. When it comes to their fries, they look and taste like they have been dropped numerous times in the fryer to reheat. About the only thing I enjoy is the beef soup, which basically is heated from a can. I am not sure how they are for breakfast, but I do not recommend this place for lunch. My review is for this particular store, not Denny's in general. The Denny's in Plumb Ln in Reno is superb in their service and food quality. Carson City Denny's could sure use some guidance from the Reno store. read more

Took almost 30 minutes to get to replacement order to us, by that time we didn't have time to eat so we told her to box it up. She told us she would also give us the wrong food as they would throw it away anyway. As we were standing at the counter to pay, she came up and gave our wrong food (the incorrect burger that had already been served to my wife that has now been boxed up) to a door dash driver that was standing there waiting. I eat here a bit regularly. I know that they have been understaffed for a while. I will say that, while the food selection is okay, the staff, in my experience, have been great. Yeah, it might take them a little bit to get to you sometimes, but when they do, they are always polite and friendly. I know that they try hard to make their customers happy. So for that alone, I truly appreciate them. The reason this review is not higher is based on two things. First, it is ALWAYS cold in there in the winter months. When I go there, I have started to bring in an extra jacket because it is too cold. If it was summer, that would be fine, but it isn't. The second thing is that Friday-Sunday, they are supposed to have chicken noodle soup and it has been months now and they either don't have it at all when I go in, or just ran out (even at 3:00pm in the afternoon). That is probably my favorite thing there, and I rarely get it. Like I said, this has been going on for months, and doesn't seem like it will be getting any better, any time soon. Due to this, I have started to look elsewhere for this dish that I love. Otherwise, they have good service, the prices are pretty good, and you will very likely find something you like on the menu. Don't be so hard on the people that come in to work. They are awesome and working hard to make everyone happy. read more
