My boyfriend and I were camping at Doheny Point and decided to walk over to Denny's since it was only about 10 minutes away. We went in because it was just after our birthdays and we had the free birthday value meal offer. We double-checked the fine print beforehand to make sure it was still valid. The server was friendly but a little off in communication. When we asked about the birthday reward, he told us only one offer could be used per table, which was confusing since the terms didn't say that. At another Denny's location we had been able to split the check and use two offers, so it was a little disappointing that we couldn't do that here. Since we were already seated and hungry, we just went ahead and ordered other items. The strawberry banana smoothie and mango smoothie were both delicious and refreshing. We also ordered one of the skillets, which came with meat, onion rings, and mac and cheese. The onion rings and meat were flavorful, but they came out at different temperatures, and the mac and cheese was cold and mushy, almost like it had been microwaved but not heated all the way through. It felt more like the skillet was used just for presentation rather than actually cooking the meal. I had been really looking forward to it, but unfortunately it ended up being my least favorite dish of the night. For the price, the quality wasn't really what we expected. Honestly, I have not been to Denny's in a very long time, this place was so good! We came in party of 6 got seated pretty quickly and got our food quick as well. They were super attentive my coffee was never not filled. Loveee that! The pancake were so good, the birthday pancakes didn't even need syrup. The veggie omelette omg so good and fulfilling , I was full till lunch for sure! The salad was fresh and good. It was great overall, I had no complaints. read more

We went to Denny's after Turkey trot race. We had to wait an hour and a half to get our food being told that the food was on its way and it will never come. The warm food was OK. The salad look like it came out of the bag. The cucumbers were completely welted as if they were frozen and defrosted to be put on the salad. I wish they would tell you before they seat you that they are that far behind and short staffed and not apologize for it when your meal is over and you're already upset and leaving because you're already behind because of their delay. read more

Jemmie is a wonderful, courteous, kind waitress. Our family will definitely be back here again for late night dinner/breakfast maybe even lunch lol. Terrible experience. Walked in at 4:00 am Thursday morning 5/1. Lady is sitting in the kitchen at 4am on FaceTime with someone laughing. I sat myself down for 20 minutes before flagging her for attention. I made eye contact with two different groups of people and they stated they were waiting an hour to get the bill and be rung up. As I sat there I literally watched them walk out without paying because the lady wasn't doing anything. I left without ordering or paying. Additionally, group of kids standing right outside the door doing drugs. The whole experience really set the tone of the type of dennys this place strives to be. Uncaring or unbothered by transients up to No good and no concern of money walking right out the door. And I don't blame the guy. Manager at dennys should watch the camera, I ain't lying. read more

We stopped here from the Sawdust Art Festival before driving home because we got the munchies! This Denny's was different from any others we've visited. It definitely had the retro diner vibe. When we arrived we didn't wait too long before we were seated in a booth. Our server came out with the menus and gave us a few minutes to peruse the offerings. We hadn't been to a Denny's in years and we were surprised at how extensive the menu was. We opted to order from the 55+ menu. He chose the scrambled egg with cheese and I ordered the starter meal. Both plates came out hot and both were very tasty. I ordered the gluten free English muffin and although it was buttered it did not taste appetizing and the 2 pieces of bacon were tiny. Everything else was very satisfying. Our server was a man of few words but he was friendly and very attentive. We noticed he was pretty busy bussing as well. The coffee was very good and our meals really hit the spot. This diner does outdoor seating on the street side! It's very clean and bright. The restroom was also clean. Showed up at 1:45 AM because nothing says "self-respect" like pancakes under fluorescent lights. Got seated by a woman who looked like she'd rather be hit by a semi than deal with another customer. I ordered the Grand Slam and got a Sad Trombone. Eggs were weirdly wet. Syrup dispenser was sticky in a way that felt personal. A toddler was doing laps barefoot. Went in for an early morning breakfast for our usual favorites and got an extra dose of sunshine with Helen our server. She was fantastic! Cheerful, knowledgeable and took care of our every need. The BEST burgers in town. Five Stars! Great quality beef with brioche bun. Burger comes with wavy-edge wedge cut fries that are perfectly NOT GREASY. I highly recommend this place. The food here is always delicious, whatever the chef is doing back there he needs to keep it up. The coffee this time was unfortunately very cold and we did not get very good service. I feel like the service here is lackluster but the ambiance and location somewhat make up for it. If it wasn't for the location I probably would be turned away by the cold coffee and not attentive employees. Other than that I usually have a great time here. Denny's is always our favorite for breakfast. We stopped here on our way home for our usual Value Meal breakfast. We noticed that we had to ask our server (unfortunately I did not get her name) for that menu. We could tell that she was not pleased when we asked if Dennys still served the Value Meal at those great prices especially for seniors. Thes Dennys, I understand as the only one in San Clemente, needs to train their servers on being more friendly, knowledgeable and SMILE when greeting customers. Service sucks and food was cold. Had to ask for coffee three times. Biscuits were more like military hard tack than fluffy. Interesting enough, seems as if the Spanish speakers were provided way better service, asked how their meals were, if they wanted more coffee, and I am not being a terrible person.
