I am loving the new winter specials menu at Broken Yolk Cafe. I personally love it here. The service and food are always fantastic. The menu is insane and has literally something for everyone!

I visit my Mom often in So. Cal and this is one of our favorite breakfast spots near her house - it's reliable and consistently good. The service team here is always gracious and check on you frequently to make sure your beverages are topped off and you have all that you need. This visit I had the Breakfast Croissant sandwich with hasbrowns - crispy just the way I like them - they don't cheat you on bacon either - - my mom had the Californian omelette with one of their beautiful fluffy biscuits and a side of bacon. This place is lively and pretty busy most of the time - so you won't be alone - but it still feels cozy. I also highly recommend the club sandwich if you ever stop by and want lunch.

Arrived to pick up a to go order and the line was out the door. Note, there is no signage on where to pick up to go orders. With only one hostess in sight, I joined the line - at no point did any additional employees greet guests and direct them or provide any information ; everyone was quite confused. There was an order sitting on a counter that I looked at - it was similar to mine but not the same. Actually my 11 year old observed this before I even did. When we finally reach the front of the line there was a lot of confusion from the hostess and a manager and finally, they acknowledge that they gave out my order already and would remake it. No offer of a comp card or apology or timeline provided by hostess. The food came out 5 minutes later, but unusually cold. My daughter was confused how her eggs were so so cold, and again confused at the tiny portion of fruit. Also, now ravenous, we were extremely disappointed they hadn't included utensils to eat with. When we saw the order come up to the counter we had approached the staff and asked "is that for marissa", he made a weird noise at us, but otherwise did not engage in any further forms of communication. I have been in the food industry for two decades and do not understand why this location is consistently so poorly managed and inefficient, each time has been such a disappointment.

Service was great on top of good food. I had the 2 option choice egg Benedict's and it was on point. Food came out about 10-15 mins after and they were catching up at 10am, ihop/denny's interior similar although spacier and high ceiling! Worth the buck

This was my second visit to Broken Yolk Cafe, and, much like the first, it was... just okay. The cafe itself has a laid-back, friendly vibe, with plenty of seating and natural light - definitely a comfortable spot if you want to relax over coffee and linger for a while. Their menu is expansive, with options that cover just about any breakfast craving: pancakes, waffles, burritos, Benedicts, and more. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, a classic choice. It came with two perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, but the steak itself was a bit on the oily side. Overall, the meal was fine, portions were reasonable. my order came with hash browns and an English muffin. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=ghwgzbhC7QvSnlKa--NaCg AR ordered the Two Eggs Breakfast Special, and she seemed to enjoy it. Her order came with a side of fruit and a biscuit. Our server checked in on us a few times, striking a good balance without being intrusive, which we appreciated. If you're in the area and in the mood for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, Broken Yolk is worth a stop. Prices are "so-so" - our breakfast for two came to just over $50, which feels a bit steep but seems to be the going rate these days. Portions are fair, and the inviting ambiance definitely enhances the experience. While there were some minor food quality issues, it's still a solid spot for a casual meal. Just a heads-up: if you're sensitive to salt or oil, some dishes might be a touch on the heavier side. - Big Aloha! Food: 3 Ambiance: 3 Service: 4 Value: 3

Great food, service was wonderful very clean dining room. Good coffee and juice. The fruit in the parfait was fresh and the rancheros skillet had a good kick.

The ladies at the front were so awesome. Very friendly, happy and helpful. The food was just ok got two eggs over med which were cooked good but was given the wrong toast from what I ordered but didn't want to wait for new. Home potatoes were not great. The Bloody Mary was also all tomatoe juice and warm. Keep trying diff broken yolk locations and I think it's just not my jam for a mediocre breakfast up-charged. Space was open and clean which was nice.

Final update: made it back to try again. We got seated and then greeted by our server. From this point on, things were just average at best. Still will not go back. First, for some one who doesn't do carbs or at least tried to not eat a lot of carbs- omelettes are a great way to go. They have a lot of versions and "Make you own" but just as before they're not omelettes. They're folded fried eggs with ingredients dropped in the crease. Large tacos with egg as a shell. Not good. I went with an average breakfast sandwich. $15.50 for two thin small slices of bacon. Bland eggs and barely toasted bread. Got fruit as the side- 3 slices of melons and a single strawberry. Most places will have a variety and enough to eat. We were served juice glasses for water again and waited for 5+ minutes to get a refill. Table next to us, again, were served large glasses. Doesn't make any sense. My wife said it very well- this is a greasy diner playing dress up as nice breakfast stop. It's not for me. I want good service and good food for these prices. Won't be back and I suggest you don't go back. Denny's serves just as good of food (if not better) and gives better service.

Choose 2 eggs Benedict: Golden State Benedict & Caprese Benedict The Mom Omelet
    Parastou P.

My mom and I went for breakfast here and it was lovely. She had coffee and the mom omelette and I had the choose two eggs Benedict option. I'm super indecisive so getting to choose between two eggs Benedict was definitely the best of the two worlds. The eggs were cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed it. I didn't try my mom's omelette but she said the onions were undercooked. But honestly that being the only flaw is not bad at all. Service was phenomenal, she was very sweet and checked in on us often. We'll definitely be back! Such a good place!

We don't have much south of Irvine so we have to settle for Ding Tea / Krak / Presotea / Boba Bee and various others so was excited to try something new and independent, but was the worst place I've had in a while. Both Oolong milk tea and Matcha Hokkaido were way too sweet and creamy despite asking for half sweet where oolong and matcha taste was barely present and overpowered by the other ingredients. The boba was very firm, barely had chew and has been sitting out. It's tough being an only worker running the shop and he was doing his best to not have people wait too long for their drinks and ordering so I'm sure that had an effect. The plus is that they offer milk alternatives for free so giving a star for that!

The evening before my brother's fiancée's birthday, my parents and I visited the store to order a cake for the celebration. We were assisted by an employee named Aiden. From the beginning, he showed little to no customer service--there was no greeting, friendliness, or engagement during the interaction. Despite this, we continued with the order and specifically requested a fresh cake to be picked up the following day at 3:00 PM. The next day, when my mother and brother went to pick up the cake, my mother noticed that the display cake that had been in the case the previous evening was no longer there. She asked Aiden if the cake he gave them was the display cake. Instead of responding, he simply stared at her and did not answer the question. My brother also noticed the lack of basic customer service and found the interaction very strange and unprofessional. Later that day, we brought the cake home and served it during the celebration. As soon as we cut into it, everyone noticed the cake was very different and tasted horrible. It tasted stale and dry. The strawberries were very mushy and smelled spoiled. None of us finished our cake slices and still have a large portion remaining. The following day, I called the store to explain the situation. A female employee answered the phone and told me she was busy with customers but would call me back shortly to sort out the issue. About 30 minutes later, I received a call back, and it was Aiden again. I explained everything that happened, but once again he showed no concern, empathy, or professionalism. When I asked about my mother's question regarding whether the cake was the display cake, he claimed he "didn't hear" her question. He did not apologize for the experience and simply offered a free slice of cake as compensation. My family and I have purchased cakes from this location several times before and have always enjoyed both the quality of the cakes and the customer service. In fact, my family has owned restaurants and businesses ourselves, so we understand very well how important customer service and quality are in the hospitality industry. This is not the way customers should be treated, which is why this experience was so disappointing to us. This is the first time we have ever had to complain. We were very surprised that a cake we specifically requested to be fresh tasted bad and have been displayed for days. Aiden also mentioned that cakes and pastries can remain out for up to two days, which was concerning given the quality we experienced. We truly loved this location and had always enjoyed coming here in the past. Unfortunately, what could have been a small issue turned into a very negative experience due to the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer care from the manager on duty. Because of this experience, my family and I will no longer be returning to this location in the future. I hope this issue can be addressed so other customers do not experience the same situation.

5 stars for the goma matcha latte and milk bread with crunchy pearls!…read more The goma matcha latte 5/5 had a black sesame paste that was like the black sesame version of smooth peanut butter! One could probably eat it by the spoonful! Such a complex flavor complement to the matcha latte. The matcha latte (4/5) felt fairly strong (I estimate 4g at least), and the mango puree tasted real/ fresh but was nothing special. However, I did like that it was not too sweet. Caveat: I am partial to mango/coconut milk or mango sticky rice matcha lattes. The goma matcha was worth the $8 pricetag. Tip: Matcha Mondays=10% off matcha drinks! The mango one maybe was worth it due to the amount of matcha, but I do feel like I could make it at home. The milk bread ($5.50) was soft, with a delightful bursting sweet cream filling topped with those shite pearly crunchies-- unique and delicious. I also loved the kinako an pan (sweet bread with red bean filling, $5.50) because of the nostalgic flavors, but also because the azuki bean had a nice crunchy sugar quality. It was on the drier side the day after purchase, but I enjoyed it. Service was cheerful and speedy. The space is pretty large with probably as much outdoor seating as indoor, and there were a few open spots at 1:30 on a Monday. Parking was plentiful in the shared plaza lot with some shady spots. The mango cream bread had a good amount of cream and the filling was delicious. The chocolate cookie was good but so hefty. I ordered the matcha cheesecake and original cheesecake thinking it was the soft and fluffy texture but it had a thick consistency. The matcha was good with a very strong matcha flavor and the original had a slight lemon flavor. I enjoyed all the food and sweets here, but a bit disappointed with their drink portion.
