Last week while visiting the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido I stayed at one of the local hotels and had breakfast here for three consecutive mornings. It's pretty OK. We come here for late night meal during the weekend when I was too busy to cook. Depends on who is on the shift, they are usually pretty decent. However there were a couple of times we sat at the table for more than 15 minutes before we got any service. read more

My girlfriend and i ordered our food and our waitress seemed nice, Morgan I believe, she was okay. It them 45 freaking minutes to get our food out when there were maybe 10 people inside around 1pm and it was cold and bland. I ran out of water twice, didn't get a refill until for awhile. Hadn't eaten at a Denny's in years. We were pleasantly surprised! Biscuits and gravy were great- hash browns and bacon cooked perfectly. Cute modern decor. The blond haired lady manager was awesome! My family goes to dennys all the time we usually get good service and it is a reasonable time to get our food, but today the service took a long time which is understandable because there were a lot of people, what bothered me was the customer service of one of the waiters. I was brough the wrong pancakes, I asked for the banana pecan, but was brought some type of banana pumpkin spice I let the waiter know without having even touched the pancakes and he kept fighting me that I had ordered those despite my family letting him know that I allways get the same thing which was not what I was brought, he ended up taking them back and bringing me mine. We did speak to the maneger which apologized for the poor customer service, dennys is usually a good place to eat despite the wait time, I did appreciate the managers response to my complaint. read more

If there was a no star option, that is what this Denny's would get. We came in on a Friday night for a little dessert and coffee. Clearly they were understaffed. The dining room was about a third full and we never even got a refill on our coffee. If I pay $2.50 for a cup of coffee I would at least like to get 1 refill. Our waitress and the manager were more worried about making sure that breaks were taken care of that nobody was taking care of the customers. Several people walked out without even being served. People say "You don't go to Denny's. You end up at Denny's." Well, after tonight's experience we will not end up there again. My sister and I decided to get some coffee and a dessert after watching a production at the local playhouse. We were seated promptly and received our coffee in a timely manner, but that's all the good I can mention. We placed our dessert orders at the same time, but they did not come out together and by then my coffee cup was nearly empty. Our server never returned to the table. After waiting forever, a different server eventually brought our check and asked if we needed anything, but by this time I just wanted to go home. The ticket said my coffee was $2.25. Way overpriced when you never get a refill. At the pay counter I asked if our server had left and we were informed that her shift ended and yes she was gone but another server was taking care of us. I told them that the other server never came and I never got more coffee. I was told that next time I should wave down the manager and ask for a refill. Still paid full price. Back when I worked in food service, if my shift ended before my tables were done I made sure to do a round to let them know I was leaving and that another server would be taking my place, even introducing the new server when possible. And when I had to take over tables for someone else, I did rounds immediately to introduce myself and make sure the customers had any refills or other requests to fulfill. I certainly would not wait an hour and then just swing by with a check. Bad form, Denny's. There will not be a "next time". read more

Once we arrived we got seated and the host we received was unattended. When we orders our food I seen it come out and it was under the heat lamp. The waitress saw it was out and walked away and she went back and did the same thing again. So I told the waiter Dan if he could bring us our food he did. We were on our way home from San Diego when we decided to stop at Denny's and get some breakfast. We came in, the host said he would have to look around to see if he had a table for two and a baby. He came back and said he did. So we followed him to the table to find out that the other host was seating another family that was waiting before us. So our host said he would look around again to find another table. He did, we got sat down and we waited for about 10 mind before anyone came up to us to take our order. When they did, we noticed that the couple next to us were sitting there before we got seated, so we told the person taking our order to take theirs bc they were there longer than we were. So the person took their order left and didn't come back to even get our drinks. We sat there for another 5 mins or so before we decided to leave. We arrived on a Monday morning and when we're were seated we asked for kids menus for our two young ones. Ten minutest later they brought back one menu stapled to a Manila folder!? The food was sub par for Denny's. It tasted like there was no seasoning on any of our breakfast. My wife's French toast had no cinnamon and our eggs seamed under cooked for scrambled eggs. This Denny's restaurant is great. I used to come here for breakfast, but the waitresses didn't speak hardly any English, and the service was really lacking. Something has changed though and now they have awesome waitresses, and great service. Wasn't expecting much being a Denny's but the waitress on graveyard Cindy was amazing!! Right on with our order and a great sense of humor. Denny's visit was ok. My kids food was good and my server was nice, however, I waited far too long to eat our food. We watched people sit next to us get there food and finish before we got our food. I was first told they didn't have sprite so I ordered a water and the server said turns out we have sprite so here ya go- I thought it was sweet until I saw it on the bill, I'm fine with paying but I didn't actually order it, anyways my kids food was fine but mine tasted awful. I got the country fried steak-i get it all the time- but It tasted like straight flour- couldn't eat it, I also asked for gravy with my bread- got charged doubled gravy again just irritated there was a charge- but after I gave my entire meal back instantly I still got charged for my full plate of food that I didn't eat. Went there for dinner service was poor. Had to wait long time for drink order . Then when the food came the waiter brought my wife's salad missing half of the stuff that is supost to be on it. Come here twice on a Sunday for breakfast. Both times it was extremely busy and yet not a long wait. The staff are very friendly and attentive with refills,etc..The staff allows you to enjoy your meal and are not pushy trying to get you in and out. They do have a bigger dining area so they can open it too for larger parties. I really do enjoy the food here and the variety of options available. I will be back when I am in town. read more

Horrible! The waiter was so rude, I don't think I've seen one be like this at this Denny's ever. Maybe it was just a bad day I guess? I don't know. First of all she gave attitude. Acted like she didn't even want to be there. Second, mine and my boyfriends utensils still had food on them. When I called the waiter out on it she just snatched the utensil from us and left all mad. The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted in a very friendly manner. The service was very friendly and quick. I ordered the caramel crepe's breakfast, coffee and water with lemon in it. The server, Brenda was great. She actually gave me enough lemon wedges in my water. Every component of the breakfast was perfectly done. So much so that I was compelled to chat with the Manager, Missie. Prior to asking if She was the Manager, I observed that She was very aware of the Customers, Her Staff and the many things that require coordination to have a successful outcome. I had the ultimate omelette and i was very disappointed it was so small and had very little taste. Not to add the the parking sucks! Good luck trying to get a spot on the weekends. This place has very bad service!! We came around 7 am so it was not crowded at all, yet the manager at the front did not greet us when we came in. After we were seated this older waitress asked us if we would like coffee. We smiled and politely said no thank you but may we have 2 cups of hot water. She stared at us and asked hot water? We ate here on Friday evening May 29th and Sunday morning May 31st. Both times we had a server named Lynn and she truly made this a five star experience for us. She was charming, attentive, and knowledgable about both the menu and the town of Escondido. She helped us make selections from the menu we were happy with and made sure to please not only my 85 year old grandmother but also my 2 year old son. On Sunday the food service was a bit slow and although she was busy she kept our drinks full and gave us updates on the food. The food was served hot and was exactly like we expected.
