Walked in with my daughter after spending all day with my mom actively passing away in Springfield...emotionally exhausted and physically very hungry , hadn't eaten all day, drove down in the morning from Seattle. Went to restroom then sat by the wall near the cooks station. A middle aged nice lady came and first brought us colas, apologized for for no ice, then I just ordered my standby chicken fried steak. When it came , it seemed rounder than I remembered but I cut into it and took a bite, the texture was off so I showed my daughter, it seemed kind of pink inside, and so we cut into the other piece, and it was pink and definitely chicken. I waited til she made her round and I excused myself and showed her that I didn't think it was chicken fried steak. She looked she apologized and said she had ordered chicken fried chicken for me accidentally. She said, would you like me to change out your meat to steak I said, please. She proceeded to scrape the meat and gravy off my plate onto a small one then she wiped the edge of my plate with my napkin. She returned about 5 to 10 minutes later with a plate with steak on it and new gravy she asked me to cut into it. to see for sure if it was steak. I cut into it and all kinds of pink water came out. I said that's not blood. My daughter said no I don't think so. I think it just cooked too fast and was frozen. I ate a bite and then I was over it. She asked if I wanted a box to take it with me. I said sure thinking thinking maybe in the Motel I would warm it up. She offered to take 15% off the cost of the meal which she did. When I got to the register, I handed my debit card to my daughter had to take care of it and told her to make sure to tip her. I got back to the motel, and I didn't even have anything to eat the food with if I wanted to, so I'm just letting you know I think I'm done with Denny's for a while. It was a horrible day capped off by a horrible meal. And although the lady tried to be nice, it was all a big mess. read more

Actually pleasantly surprised today. It is, after all, just Denny's. However, the service was fast and friendly. The food was really good and served hot. It was quick too! My hubs thought the Sante Fe sizzling skillet could have used more cheese. But the plate was so hot it cooked the yolk of his egg! He thought that was pretty cool. Sizzling platters frequently chill off quickly. I had the sirloin steak and eggs, with red potatoes. Oh my ....the eggs were so damn good! And the potatoes were cooked perfectly. We must have just hit the place at the right time. Usually my scrambled eggs are overcooked and tough. Today, they were soo tasty. And the steak was actually a good cut of meat and also, cooked perfectly (for me). The only reason I took a star away was because they never offered us a second cup of coffee, and my water glass had (ew) lipstick residue on the rim. Definitely a good choice today. read more

Came into Denny's around 4am expecting a normal late-night meal, but the experience was... memorable in a strange way. We sat for about 30 minutes without being acknowledged, and the server didn't seem interested in bringing menus, so we never even got to order food. To make things even wilder, a drunk driver crashed into a tree right outside, and suddenly there were cops and even the news on scene, which definitely killed the vibe. While the service was lacking and we left hungry, the situation itself wasn't entirely the restaurant's fault. Still, better communication or acknowledgment would've gone a long way. Giving 3 stars because Denny's is usually reliable, but this visit was chaotic and disappointing. read more

I always stop here in the morning on my way to charge my car. The place seems clean and the staff are friendly. I usually order ahead for breakfast. It's always ready quickly, they have no problem giving me an ice water to go. And even if it's a weekend and busy, it's never a difficult pick up process. read more

Be warned: the plain omelette only comes with coffee rolls. They do not have side orders of wheat toast event though they make sandwiches. What you have to do is our the number 2. Tell the wisecracking waitress to hold the mayo, butter and lettuce. And then tell her to hold the chicken. When she asks "You want me to hold the chicken?" You tell her to hold it between her legs! dennys.... where have you been dennys. we ordered the for delivery so i can't rate the service or interior. but one thing i can rate is the food. and god damn. good golly miss molly! i got the grand slam which. what the fuck. who told someone to make this. this was an experience. i had never eaten anything like it before. the ammount of flavor, the ammount of everything. this seems like a good you should eat only once every three years. next time i eat this it is alone in a soundproof room. the cheese, the eggs, the sweetness of the bread, the MEAT, it's indescribable. it's $17 with a side of hash browns and some would say that is a steep price. i say worth it. next time it's getting late and you have a taste for something excellent, i recommend the grand slamwich. read more

My last review of this Denny's was in August of 2015 and I'm glad to find that this Denny's has changed. The inside and outside of the restaurant has been remodeled and it's now very nice inside. Everything new. But the biggest improvements are with the service, food and pricing. The service is great and the food is among the best we have eaten, in many restaurants around this area. Another big surprise are the prices. While many restaurants have almost doubled their food prices, we find Denny's has remained at prices found there in past years. I woke up at 4:00 this morning wanting some MEAT! But it being 4 am, I didn't want to wake everyone in the household up, and I didn't want to make a mess I had to clean up. After a quick google search of places open, I decided to go to Denny's. Throwing a hoodie over my pajamas, hoping it looked a little less like I was wearing Christmas pj's in July, I was off! The roads were empty, peaceful. It wasn't very full, so I was seated right away, and my order was taken. I customized the crap out of the order, no problem! My food arrived, and it looked so appetizing, just like on the website. The biscuits were delicious, the gravy as well. The chicken was tender and juicy, but way over-salted, close to inedible. It just now occurred to me that I could've brought it home and peeled off the coating. Too late, I left it there. Over all, nice morning, full belly, the sunrise filled my soul. Eggs still runny/watery even with scrambled eggs. I have frequented this location several times as it is close to one of my work locations. I meet people here for breakfast and am able to use the large tables for my laptop to go over details with my guest. I enjoy doing the build your own slam. I can get 2 scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, wheat toast, and grits. Tasty. The eggs are a bit runny, but they seem to get the toast perfect. The grits are almost perfect, and the turkey bacon is a nice low cal option. They have a newer GM now, she is very nice. The last 2 gentlemen were nice, but the location was never really clean. Now it is clear the standards have improved. The funny part is when I see the cook, wearing his black apron, out front using the weed-wacker on what was a lawn at one time. If I could give this Denny's location a negative star review, I would. I've basically come to boycott it because of a specific waitress. I went in here with my husband and my mother, late one night. There were very few people in here, so I would expect decent service. Nope. Didn't happen. Our waitress wrote down the absolute opposite of our orders. I don't quite know how she managed to screw that up, but she did one hell of a job. In fact, I had asked to see a ticket she gave the cook to confirm what we had ordered. It was nowhere near correct. She honestly looked like she was high. I've since seen her multiple times at the gas station next door during the night when I've stopped in, and her condition has gotten worse, and the meth scars increased. It is sad to see. When our food was delivered, she almost tipped one plate over because she couldn't balance then appropriately, and had a bad case of the shakes. It was painfully obvious that she was shaking enough that she should've just made a couple of trips. She managed to drip a fair amount of syrup onto my phone that was sitting on the table, then told me I shouldn't have left it on the table. She spilled soda on my husband. I'm pretty sure giving a toddler a full glass of any kind of liquid would've been safer, and there would be less mess. Now, the part where I flared was when I told her about the issues with our order and what needed to be corrected, she took what I said to the cook. This would be fine, because it needed to be fixed. Except, she basically ripped him a new asshole, where the entire restaurant could hear it, and it wasn't even his fault. She screamed at him, belittled him, and talked down to him over her screw ups. I drew the line at that point and went to a manager. I honestly wanted to go give the poor cook a hug and tell him it wasn't his fault, and not to listen to her. The manager wasn't much better. I asked another waitress if ours was as high as she appeared, and her answer was concerning... she thoughtfully said she wasn't sure. Like, this could actually be a real issue, and I wasn't the first to complain, and she was tired of picking up the pieces from that waitress causing problems. The manager just kind of smiled and nodded at my complaints. She obviously kept this employee working there, even with her meth use becoming more and more obvious as the months went on because I would see her in uniform walking to the Shell station. Which tells me the quality control is just terrible. I felt sorry for the cook and the second waitress in there. It seemed like the one bad employee was making life pretty much impossible for the rest of them. The food, once it was correct was alright. It's typical diner food, that is extremely processed and nothing special. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. We just had to start with getting the order right to eat it. After the issues with our waitress, it soured the entire experience, and I basically just paid for my food and walked out. I just wanted to leave because it was that bad. Would I return? Nope. I've boycotted this place after three incidents with that specific waitress, and complaining every time. That last one I detailed above was not only the worst, but the final one for me. I've said when she is fired, I may contemplate returning, but not until. Which is sad. This particular location is very close to my husband's job. So it would be super easy to run over here and meet him for a quick breakfast together when he gets off work, and I would love to do that more often. But this place simply doesn't deserve my money. When I showed up which was a 8AM for a business breakfast, I was amazed that we were really the only two in this place. You would think with two hotel/motel's within walking distance that it would be a little busier but it's not. The service was very prompt and courteous, and the coffee just kept on flowing. The food is your standard diner meal. For me the chicken fried steak was a lttle too thick and over cooked so it made it difficult to chew. Of all the Denny's I've visited (and I've travelled repeatedly through 48 states, the Denny's just south of Eugene in Glenwood is the very best. The managers work hard, the servers have been excellent in the past 4 years, which has made me a regular diner there. Love their pot roast dinner. Love their cinnamon roll pancakes and their crepes. Very inexpensive and save that receipt for 20% off if you return within a few days. They also have a budget menu that I utilize at times. And yes, Denny the Cat makes for added entertainment. Seriously, unless it's crazy the morning after a Ducks football game, I've had better service and well-cooked food with this bunch than at many high priced establishments in Eugene and Springfield. I'd rate it in the top two breakfast restaurants in the area, but I occasionally get dinner there too. read more
