We were in Eugene over the weekend for my first cousins wedding, and were delighted to discover that Elmers is a chain! We always stop at the Elmers in Palm Springs when visiting my wife's family in that area. I happen to have an addiction to their German Pancakes/Dutch Babies, and even though the 3.6 star Yelp rating had me a tiny bit concerned (Palm Springs location has a 4.4 excellent rating) we arranged to have a goodbye breakfast for 5 of us on our way to EUG (I just couldn't bare a third mediocre free breakfast at our motel!) I wasn't aware that a reservation or an earlier time would have been warranted, since a big group of 35 just beat us in Monday at 10, in town for Banana Ball at Autzen, so it did take a slightly longer than usual time to be seated and served, but it wasn't their fault, even my though they apologized like it was, it just gave us a bit more time to converse with the bride and groom and say our goodbyes. We still made it to the airport with time to spare. The wait staff was terrific and very friendly, the space was clean, modern and very well kept. We were all very happy with our breakfasts, 3 of us had German Pancakes, due in part because I raved about them so much from my experiences at Palm Spring Elmers. 2 had the assorted fruit topping, I went with lemon, butter, and powdered sugar, So yummy! My other cousin had the lingonberry crepes, she loved them! Everyone was very happy and full, even got a to go box for the betrothed. If I could add a 6th star I would. Service was great. Food is plentiful but really could have eaten bowl of soup and a salad which wasn't really an option from what I recall. I ordered potato cakes (think Oregon trail food) prepared with Tillamook cheddar, bacon and onions that came with bacon on the side and two eggs in addition to sour cream and applesauce. Elmer's is a chain restaurant in the Pacific Northwest. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner but breakfast is EASILY their best meal. Stopped by and got the lingonberry crepes. Wanted a side of bacon and it was cheaper to make it a combo and also get two eggs. Crepes were AMAZING!!!! Thin light and just enough fluff to them. The berry and butter mix was perfect, no syrup needed! Good quality bacon and my over easy eggs were cooked to perfection. Server was friendly and attentive. Might come back tomorrow! read more

Why have I never been to this place? Every time I visit the area, I stay at the Valley River Inn, which is very, very close to this place. When it comes to breakfast, we usually skip it and wait till lunch. On my last visit, one of my grown child wanted breakfast so we decided to walk over to Elmer's Restaurant. What a treat! The decor and vibe reminds me of a good mom and pop country restaurant. The menu items were all so appealing. I opted for the crab eggs benedict and coffee. My wonderful waiter brought my coffee and breakfast pretty quick. My Crab Benedict was amazing. It was like getting a delicious breakfast from a 5 Star restaurant without paying that high price. This Elmer's, and I don't know about other Elmer's, will not accept orders to go! That to me is an absolute abomination of what the original Elmer's founders based their lives upon: serving their customes with the best experience and food they could possibly make. I was in the area, and decided a chicken fried steak sounded good. A quick search showed me Elmers had them, so I stopped in. I was seated quickly, and waited on soon after. Ordered water to drink, since I had already had about 32oz of coffee, lol. Ordered the Chicken fried steak, with over medium eggs and crispy hashbrowns. Chicken fried steak was good, although pretty sure it was from pre-made frozen. Gravy was tasty. Eggs were perfect! Hashbrown... not my favorite, had an odd taste so did not finish. The biscuit was really good, texture and flavor was spot on. My waitperson was friendly, and willing to answer questions about the food, and also about the Eugene area (since I am new here). For being a chain, I do not mind going here when we can't decide on something else. It is not the top of the line place sure, I will have to say it is a step or two above Denny's. They are usually packed when we show up. With this said, we have not ever had much of a wait time, if at all. The service has always been really great, and the food comes out pretty fast. So far everything I have had has been pretty good. German pancake delicious. Crepe's delicious. Breakfast meats, well...just that. Breakfast meats. Nothing to write home about. We ordered pancakes for my 3 yr old Grandson, they came out in the shape of Mickey Mouse. He really loved that. Ate here twice on consecutive days and I will not be back. The food delivery to the table was extremely slow. Easily at least 35 minutes to get our food. The cleaning of tables for people that left was also extremely slow. I saw tables that were not cleaned for over 40 minutes after the table left. Not just one table like that, several on both days. The food was ok but cost was higher than similar area restaurants. Service from the wait staff was attentive and drinks were refilled regularly. It's Elmer's so you know what your getting, nothing memorable, nothing bad. After countless visits I found out that the French Vanilla latte - the one out of the machine - contains no caffeine. In our first-ever experience at an Elmers, we were treated like good friends. We were not only welcomed but celebrated...and very well served by Damon, who we learned is the most requested server at that location. Deservedly so. Our "just getting breakfast" turned into an event that made the day wonderful. Manager Nichole also made us feel very welcome. I'll start by saying the staff was really nice. Place looked fine, but the food really is a disaster. First they mess up my sister's order. Server let her know and asked if she wanted it anyway. People order food the way the want it so it puts a lot of pressure on a customer to accept something they didn't order when you even bother to ask. She felt pressured and I could tell so I chimed in with no, she wants the correct order please. Just let customer's know the kitchen made a mistake and it will be out shortly. Cold soup was also not impressive, so it had to go back and guess what? Still cold. We kind of laughed at that. Like, just put it back in the microwave for 30 seconds. If you're going to start skimping use smaller plates so it's less obvious. My club sandwich was not a club but still okay. Menu has definitely been pared way down. It's pretty bare bones if I'm being honest and not really what we want. I would suggest another diner in the area. Thankfully I don't live here so I won't be returning. First off, Damon is the BEST server you could ask for. This was our parties first visit to Elmer's and I can definitely see us returning. Food was good. Standard breakfast fare but was better than most "boutique" brunch places in town. Coffee refills were quick and frequent. 10am on a Sunday and had no issue getting a table. Went to Elmer's 5/30/26 with my wife, daughter and grand daughter for my 81st birthday dinner. From the moment we entered and wee greeted by the friendly staff member who showed us to our table and inquired if this was our first visit (it was), to the awesome wait staff and shift supervisor who came by to greet us and give us a $10 discount coupon for our next visit, a welcome letter and a coffee mug full of suckers, the experience was awesome. Our food was great, my prime rib was medium just as ordered. My daughter's Avocado Eggs Benedict, my granddaughters salad and club sandwich and my wife's bacon, ham and sausage bowl were all delicious, large and worth the cost. Went for lunch on my lunch break and thought I'd get a nice lunch so I didn't have to have a big dinner. I ordered chicken fried steak with french fries. When it came out it was a small chicken fried steak, and mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. The mashed potatoes were fake the carrots were taking over half of the plate and there wasn't even a roll with the meal & the price was $20.49. I used to love Elmer's but they have gone so downhill and this is it. They used to have the best chicken strips and they changed those and the ones they offer now are horrible. My daughter and I eat ate here a few times now. The food is pretty good and the service is decent. It's clean, not too loud and smells good. Elmer's turned into our go-to breakfast diner. On our last visit, the light above the table was flickering in a distracting manner. I really enjoy the potato pancakes (with chicken sausage). My daughter has sampled various pancakes and waffles. We often drop by this Elmers for breakfast or lunch after an eye appointment. We have found a gem! The Server, Daman, has given us A+service repeatedly. He makes sure we get exactly what we asks for and also can anticipate what we need correctly. The food is delicious. David loves their potato pancakes. I love their german pancakes and we love their lunch menu items as well. We are seniors and he treats us like gold, very respectfull. We noticed that he treats all his customers like that. read more

I stopped in here with friends tonight. We arrived around 6:30 and left about an hour later. There were four of us in a booth and it was a bit tight, we felt pretty squished especially when we had the huge menus. We were seated in the lounge, there was one person at the bar and no other customers. Our waitress helped us quickly and was nice. She made sure that my friend got a substitution on his meal and kept our cups filled. She did smell heavily of cigarettes but I'm the only one who seemed to notice, which wouldn't surprise me because I'm so sensitive to smell to begin with. Our food was all pretty good. The biscuits were tasty and the pancakes smelled delicious. I got a burger and it was good, but the patty was clearly frozen. The fries were good and hit the spot. The hot cocoa was also good. There's ample parking here, even with a new hotel next door. This place is tucked behind some other businesses so it can be hard to find, but once you get there you shouldn't have any issues with parking. I didn't stop in the bathroom so I can't comment on it. Overall this was a pretty standard diner experience. I'd say this place is a step above Denny's and below IHOP. read more

We walked in last night at 830 after a long drive hoping to get some food. The doors said they were open until 9 and they had a lighted sign as well saying open. We waited at the front and no one came to assist us after five minutes. I repeatedly said hello and excuse me and no one came. Someone also was vacuuming and they never came to assist either. Elmer's in Eugene is one of those restaurants that I thought would be below average, but was pleasantly surprised with. I had been to the other location in Springfield, before it closed down, and enjoyed it as well. I've been to this location 3 times, and each time, I leave full and content. Their coffee is always good, their OJ isn't freshly squeezed but still refreshing, and their omelettes ALWAYS hit the spot. I even dare to say that they have been some of the best omelettes I've had in town. I've tried other items, like their scrambles, and two of their egg benedict options. All have been great! Prices are fair and the portions are decent. Service has always been welcoming and friendly, even on a busy Thanksgiving morning. The restaurant has always seemed clean and organized. It's quite a big restaurant and has 3 different areas. They even have a full bar with slots. The lounge area stays open late, until about 11:00 PM, I believe. I haven't been here for lunch or dinner, so I can't comment on that, but I do intend on visiting sometime soon. read more
