Denny's Fernley Location Now Denny's has had a rough go around I mean some hate it, some love it an it depends on a few things that need to be right, Consistent in quality of food, nice and welcoming staff all this plays a factor when it comes to dining not only at Dennys but anywhere. But here is my experience and my issues with this location, now it's not all bad, there will be good things. From the moment you or I walked in, I was waiting for the hostess to seat us but they were in the kitchen unsure why that was but after 5min we were seated an greeted by Sierra one of the only servers at this location that's welcoming, pleasant and mostly very quick to help customers. But she gave us a few mins to overlook the menu and after making our decisions wife an I were just making small talk when from the back of the kitchen was a very loud whistling from one of the kitchen staff, it was getting obnoxious an when asking the staff of theres a way they could ask the man to not whistle so loud or something but it continued throughout our dinner, I kept trying to tune it out but just kept going. Finally after eating our food and being thanked and apologized by Sierra for the whistling we left quickly. Got to the front to pay an when the hostess asked me how was everything? I simply replied "it was okay, but it would've been a lot better if the staff could've talked to the gentleman in the back whistling" shes obviously said oh I'm sorry I didnt hear it *he was still whistling while we were talking* i got frustrated and was like never mind it's okay, I'll talk to someone later bout it. Did you wanna talk to my manager? Talked to the manager, he apologized an said we will speak to him about his whistling. I'm sorry about your bad experience. Update: Since this visit my wife have been there a handful of times an the whistling is still happening, so now we just sit closer to the casino instead of the kitchen it's just not a good experience when you've got no staff whom is wanting or ask that guy to be quiet. Until things change I'm not sure how long I'll be going there but hopefully things change. read more

Tried to give this place another chance, boy am I stupid...... DIRTY! Waaaaay under staffed so no cleaning is done, the poor staff look tired and run ragged, slow service because there are so few of them. Check out my pictures of how dirty the tables are. Have not been to a Denny's in over a decade. Was in Fernley and saw this Denny's inside Terrible's Casino. For some reason, we decided to try it. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised and somewhat astounded at how much I enjoyed my visit. I ordered the Veggie Scramble and my husband ordered the Grand Slam I think it was. For $9.99 he got two eggs, bacon and sausage links, hash browns plus a plate with two perfect pancakes!. His breakfast also included his coffee and a tomato juice. Sometimes you love the food somewhere and then reflect that you were so starving that your mind was not clear and your taste buds went crazy over food that was not that great after all? This was not the case. The food was hot and absolutely delicious, cooked exactly to order. The service was excellent and our coffee cup was filled immediately without having to hunt someone down. Are all the Denny's now like this? Not sure, but will be looking into it. Very enjoyable meal, great service and a really fun ambiance in the restaurant. By the way, if you need to take a shower, you can also get one right there in Terrible's as this is a truck stop! read more

Our server Elizabeth provided us extremely fast and expertly. Our food was ordered and brought out to us in crunchy, fresh, perfected-ness. My fries were crunchy, mozzarella sticks had 3 foot warm goeyness stretch. The onion rings had the crisp shell with the hollow warm gooey crunch of perfect goodness. Thanks guys. read more

I ate here once. The food was good enough standard Denny's style. The waiter was also our hostess and he was very friendly. The food came out on time The restaurant is very outdated and the floor is in pretty rough condition. It needs serious rehab or a deep cleaning. I probably won't eat here again. read more

Oh my goodness!! My mother and I went for an early dinner. There were only a few people there, and our waiter took his time in getting our order because a gentleman came in after we did, and he took his order. But when he took our order, it felt very rushed. Like he wanted to get it over with. I got a Loaded Veggie Omlette with a salad and an iced tea, and my mom got a Cobb Salad. The salad looked like they came from a bag, and the iced tea looked like it was sitting somewhere it was so dark. The customer service left something to be desired. He (Pedro) only came once, and that was at the beginning. He didn't even ask of we wanted refills or anything. It was very disappointing, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Last minute decision to go out for late dinner on Friday night. Luckily with as many full tables, we were greeted & seated right away. Came here for a Sunday brunch, and though I understand it was busy, it doesn't justify the server rushing the customers to get out of the booth. We were still eating (picking up fries and sandwich), and she was like, "here you are guys (with our bill), have a great day." NOPE. Not yet, cause we ordered dessert, and it hasn't even been served yet! Then she was, "oops, sorry. You still have dessert." Speaking of which, don't order there Caramel Apple Pie ice cream thing. I've been eating here for years and the new cooks are lazy and put very little effort into the food. No manager on duty to complain to and the wait staff claims they can't discount the bill without management. Worst food ever and only half effort into prep. Cooks forgot the sauce completely and put in 1/4 of the noodles and covered it with cheese to hide it. Cooks wouldn't fix the dish and no one cared. I went in today for breakfast. Today being Veterans Day I understand that Denny's gives free breakfast items to veterans. I went in and had the Grand Slam meal. It came with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 pancakes and hash browns...and it was a nice meal! They were busy as you can imagine...but they were on top of things! The service was speedy and the wait staff were in very good spirits. I must say I don't normally go to dinner there but I think I'll give it a shot! With Only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant, we waited 10 minutes to be seated. We Ordered and still hadn't received the food almost 45 minutes later so we asked the server to Cancel our order and got a, "sure" and left. No explanation or apology for wasting an hour of our time. I love Denny's. Just not this one. The carpet is the most disgusting I've ever seen in a restaurant. Looks like it should be on the floor in a crack house. Also everything you order is made way smaller than any other location I have ever been too. I've ordered the same dish from Chicago to Anaheim and you have to double up to get the same portion size you get anywhere else. They are also constantly out of ingredients (even prior to Covid). The wait staff tries but they have to make up for the filth and the inadequate food and portions. Come on Denny's. Whip this location back in shape. It's an embarrassment to you name. read more

I walked in was told to wear a mask to walk through the lobby. So I put one on. I was directed to sit at a booth I did. But I didn't like to booth cuz it was facing the wall so I asked to move to a different booth and they made that possible. I ordered sirloin steaks two of them with red skin potatoes and zucchini and toast. I never got the toast. The steak was very thin and wasn't well done like I asked. But they had already taken so long to bring my food that I didn't want to ask them to take it back and take even longer. Through out my visit I was never offered any napkins. I got napkins after I asked for napkins repeatedly about 10 minutes after I was done with my meal from a waitress who I originally thought was a customer cuz she was eating siting couple of booths down. So she got up went on the kitchen while eating got napkins for herself and handed me one too. She did all of that while she was chewing her food. Now remember that I was told to wear a mask to walk through the building. Finally for desert I asked for hot chocolate. But I was notified about 10 minutes later that they are out of hot chocolate powder. I'm not sure if I made them mad cuz I asked to switch booths and that's why I was made to feel like second class citizen. But regardless of their reason or cause for treating me like this. This review is for Denny's itself, so it earned three stars for being a clean place with nice service and decent food. That being said, the pathway into Denny's is less than great. First, as you walk on the sidewalk there are some very loud speakers that make bizarre and very loud noises that sound like monkeys screaming or birds. After that, there's the disgusting smoke stench from having to walk through a casino. Some of that stench permeates the restaurant. I will probably never return to this place. read more

Submitted an online order for pickup. Luckily, I checked every item and found that of 8 items ordered, 4 were missing. The cashier told me that they were out of tater tots (ordered loaded), then they were out of chocolate lava cake. Ordered bourbon apple pancakes (whatever the new special is) and only got plain pancakes. The cashier said she couldn't see what I ordered because I ordered it online...so how did they figure out what to make? Then, they told me they didn't have any sauces for the chicken fingers (which were worse than gas station, sitting under a heat lamp for 2 days). She kept disappearing into the kitchen, so I walked back to the counter and asked the cook for some "Den" sauce (had ordered mango habanero)...he said they didn't have that. I asked for the Habanero sauce, he said they didn't have that either, only Mango Habanero...wtf. Then I asked if they had lava cake...he said yes. He tried to put it in a paper to go box, I asked if they could put it in a plastic one so it wouldn't melt the box with the ice cream...then he said they don't have ice cream. I asked for my money back, the cashier said she couldn't open the drawer because I ordered online, and would have to come back tomorrow. I live an hour away from this Denny's. Got home, food was terrible...the lava cake was literally just batter...not cooked. It was like...literally if you mixed brownie batter and didn't cook it. read more

Came here after a long camping trip to get what I expected to be a quick bite to eat after spending all morning packing up camp. Very hungry. We sat at the table for 10 or so minutes before our server asked if we wanted any coffee or water. That should have been the first indication they were having a bad day. We eventually were able to order some food. Started getting impatient after 30 minutes of waiting. At 40 minutes I went outside to walk around and find my book in the car, hoping I would have some food when I got back. Came back in and my partner informed me they'd lost our order and would now begin preparing it. Great. Still waiting for it to come out although I've been assured they were working on it. Been another 10 minutes at least. I'd have left immediately but now all the drive thru places are not serving breakfast. Whatever. read more

Sitting here at Denny's. One server is working her butt off...the senior in age server. The rest are virtually nonexistent. One came by to refill my coffee... after I requested it. After she poured, she spun away leaving a substantial spill of coffee on the table... she never bothered to clean it, so I did it for her.My server, the elder, let me know twice my food was coming. It arrived warm and typical for Denny's... it was okay. Servers talked with cooks and answered texts on their phones for awhile. They finally broke up and checked on customers. Overall the Denny's is Denny's, but only one of the servers works at it. 2 stars. read more

Sandwiches were okay, but we ordered combos for delivery. They were out of the sides we ordered, and they made the decision to go ahead and charge for the combos, but only send the sandwich. $15.50 for a grilled cheese x 2, plus delivery, plus tip. $44.00 for two sandwiches. When my food arrived it was cold and the shakes melted. One of my milkshakes was only filled up 2/3rds of the way up, and for the price they charge that is ridiculous. We've gone back a few times since because they're the only 24hr restaurant in town. We have literally never had a problem free experience the few times a year that we stop in either dine-in or pick-up. One episode I ordered pick up and waited forever!!! They apologized and informed me that the manager had walked off the job and they had no idea what to do. I was there for an hour (for pick up). When I got home, not only was the food cold, it wasn't right. I went back and they gave me the rest of my order. I spent 70 that night. Had about 2 bites of food. During another episode a few weeks ago, we dined in. The manger is super young and acts like it. The waitress appeared younger in age (physically) but was busting her ass awfully hard being the only waitress. I believe the manager was maybe meeting someone for a date or something strange. It was around 11pm. And I've seen that same manager in previous experiences always on break to talk to a man. This man seemed like someone she didn't know though. Not my business other than the fact that she was too busy to help her staff. She knew that I was having issues with cold food, burnt food, under cooked food and finally after an hour of no food, getting a to-go order because it was late. Not once did she stop by to ask what the issue was and how she could fix it. In fact, she wouldn't even look me in eye much less our direction. The cooks were getting frustrated having to remake orders because by the time the waitress got to the food, the dishes were cold. So they had a lot of remakes that night. The manager was useless other than sitting one party down. It's frustrating. She's always got family and or men she's meeting with. By always I mean at least 4x we've been there. Again, paid around 70 and never did eat my to-go food. I think we learned our lesson and don't want to continue wasting our hard earned money on employees that don't know how to run a restaurant. read more
