My wife had order the grand slam special for breakfast. She ordered cheese eggs, sausage, bacon with grain pancakes. I picked up the order. When I entered the restaurant the staff were very polite and helpful. I showed them my wife order and they brought it out. The bacon, sausage were cooked to perfection and very delicious. The eggs with the cheese cooked to perfection and tasty. The pancakes were the start of the meal. The pancakes were surprisingly tasty and fluffy. The ambiance inside the restaurant was customer friendly.

I love it here the service is great, the food is good but look at my submitted photos , this is the bathroom and a great reason why I am scared to use public restrooms , but the food is good and everyone should come try it, just don't use the restroom unless you have to really, really go,

They use cheese product in omelette instead of shredded cheddar

First thing is that the guy pointed us to the direction of the table and we had to seat ourselves. I ordered the Denver Omelette and they brought out a ham and cheese omelette. It has an unmelted slice of Swiss cheese on it. I alerted the waitress and she brought the correct omelette. The Denver Omelette was made with cheese whiz or processed cheese product instead of shredded cheddar. The food was all subpar. My 11 year old grandson said his chicken sandwich was not good and McDonald's was better. They also served soda from unclean lines. The coke tasted bad. And the waitress dropped all our food off at one in of the table. She refused to hand food to each individual. Paid $114 for bad food and bad service. Never again!

I needed a place to take my mom who has dementia to have breakfast. We were served by a young gentleman with such an awesome energy and smile. This is what my mom needs because she is also hard of hearing so face expressions are very important! From what I've seen he was awesome with everyone. Other workers seemed dull and not happy smh Store was very clean. Cooks were also knocking out the orders! His name is chase ! Make sure you get him as your server!

Friday, May 15th, 2026 Approx. 4:30 PM…read more OVERVIEW: This place is awesome! The model trains, the jukebox era music playing in the background, and of course, the delicious food! PROS: 1) Ordered the Sirloin Steak & Eggs, (#9 on the menu) & the Pancake & Eggs selection. (#31) Was delicious. Ordered the eggs over-easy, and the eggs were served exactly over easy. (I.e., all wet & yellow on the inside) Other diners nowadays don't serve over-easy eggs this way, and the egg yolk is fried & dried when served. Today's chef did these eggs right! 2) The pancakes were HUGE! Not just fluffy for show, but actually packed with volume. Was totally surprised. Plus, the syrup is served in those old-school dispensers, (see attached picture) so you can pour as much syrup as you want on your pancakes. I usually drown my pancakes in syrup. However, a lot of diners nowadays pour the syrup in tiny containers when served, (in order to cut costs) so I usually have to bug the servers for more syrup. 3) The venue is quite amazing. Most young kids nowadays have probably never seen the type of classic trains in the display cases at the restaurant. So in that sense, this place is also a train museum. Plus, the restaurant retains that nostalgic vibe of when diners were an integral part of the American family dining experience. 4) A petite Latina Lady took my order at the counter and this Gen Z Bro served the dishes. Both individuals were polite & professional. (Honestly, didn't expect to see such a well-mannered Gen Z Bro as a server. Must be local Lodi hospitality.) NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Give these kids a raise. 5) At the time of this post, high inflation plagues America. But this restaurant provides good food, at a high volume, at an affordable price. But Management still needs to give the kids in the aforementioned a raise. CONS: The bacon served with the pancakes are a teensy bit burned. But I'm sure that there are a lot of other customers who prefer to have their bacon prepared well-done. SUMMARY: There are so many items on the menu. I NEED TO GO BACK to try some of the other entrees. In the meantime, if you're reading this, and have never been to this place, by all means give it a try!

Classic home cooking and comfort food [Roseville CA]…read more First time dining at Chubby's was 9 years ago in 2017 and I never returned... no reason, there were just too many dining options in Roseville but I recently came back and had brunch here one Sunday morning. A classic breakfast sounded good at the time... From the breakfast menu I chose the Juke Box Special but the friendly server suggested the Soldier Boy instead which was basically the same thing except this included grilled potatoes and only one pancake. The server urged me to try the potatoes... omgosh! it was so good, they were grilled and I love the crunchiness. Nothing fancy on the menu just good, ole' classic home cookin' and diner "comfort food." Breakfast is served all day. Chubby's Diner is a small, friendly, neighborhood diner that is as retro as it gets down from the decor and food. Friendly customer service! Review #3982

Saturday, February 28th, 2026 4:14 PM…read moreServer: Eduardo OVERVIEW: My first visit ever to a Black Bear Diner. Personally, I don't like big, corporate-backed venues like Denny's & IHOP, but since this place in Lodi got good reviews, I thought I would give it a try. But again, since it was a big-name restaurant, my expectations were low. PROS: - First off, excellent service, a well staffed kitchen & dining area. Dining area atmosphere very warm as well, with lots of families enjoying their meals. - Our waiter was Eduardo. A very attentive guy, who brought out our meals less than 10 minutes from time of order. GIVE THIS GUY A RAISE! - Did the, "Build your own Breakfast" with steak, eggs & pancakes. The pancakes were excellent... golden brown, not burnt, and large & fluffy. These guys know how to make classic pancakes !!! - Ordered orange juice. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I was expecting some watery, sugary juice substitute, but this was REAL ORANGE JUICE. (Minute Maid) CONS: - The steak was quiet, "Meh". Sure, it just a standard portion of a, "Build your own B'fast" meal, but the steak itself was so unimpressive, like it came from one of those microwave steaks at Walmart. - I understand that eggs are expensive nowadays, but I ordered three (3) eggs, but they were so small, that it felt like eating just two eggs. CONCLUSION: Great restaurant with great vibes. Just wish that the steak & eggs portion of my breakfast were bigger. The pancake portion was just fine. Will go there again and give them the chance to earn five stars from me.

It was early afternoon and not busy at all, so we were seated right away. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Melt with a side of fruit, while my husband went with the tri-tip dip and fries. The Chicken Caesar Melt came with grilled chicken breast, Caesar dressing, lettuce, tomato, and Swiss and jack cheeses on sourdough bread grilled with a Parmesan crust. It was delicious--I especially loved the crispy cheese crust. That said, for a Black Bear portion, the chicken was a bit skimpy, and I would've liked just a little more meat. My husband enjoyed his tri-tip dip, which featured seasoned tri-tip on a grilled ciabatta roll served with au jus. The restaurant was pretty quiet during our visit, though we've been here during busier times when it can get quite loud, especially with the dinner crowd. The restaurant is kid-friendly and offers plenty of booth seating, which I prefer over chairs. Customer service can be hit or miss--sometimes we have excellent waitstaff who check in regularly and keep drinks refilled, and other times they disappear once the food is served. Unfortunately, this visit fell into the latter category, as our waitress didn't return until we were ready to pay. Overall, the food is good, there's plenty of seating inside, and a large parking lot outside. It's a solid option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

We were quickly seated at a freshly cleaned table. The restaurant was pretty busy however, our server took our order within minutes. The food came out in a pretty quickly for how busy it was too. The food itself was pretty good. I really liked the Bread Pudding French Toast. We substituted the bananas for strawberries. I personally liked it better without the fruit on there altogether, on the side is fine. The French toast was crunchy on the outside yet. Had a delicious soft yummy layer on the inside. I think the praline bits really set it off. Since the French toast was lacking protein, we ordered Joe's Hobo Omelette and added bell peppers to it. The omelette was decent, but tasted a little dry. The potatoes were soggy / mushy. I wish they were cooked longer and crispier. The flavor was good though. The biscuit was huge! Which only made it that much more disappointing how dry it was. Overall the meal was great, the ambiance was nice, the service was delightful. I will definitely be back here for breakfast, but I would love to explore the rest of the menu as well.
