Always a good sign. We were quickly seated in their covered patio area. The seating was quite comfortable. The staff were prompt and attentive. I ordered the Potatoe Platter. Probably not the healthiest of choices but who can deny a heaping platter of country style potatoes mixed with grilled ham, bacon, onions, and topped with melted cheese. I mean seriously. I ordered mine with eggs and ordered the pancake instead of toast, more on that later. To say this is a hearty meal would be the understatement of the year. Try as I might, I packed over half of this delicious dish for breakfast the following day. Judge me if you must, but I measure all pancakes against the gold standard of pancakes, McDonalds. The Avenue Grill offered a solid pancake, light, fluffy with a slight snap, every bit a worthy competitor to my favorite. Before I knew it, the pancake was gone. My wife ordered the French Toast. Want we loved about the Avenue Grill is sometimes you just want good, simple food and this was the case with the French Toast. Based on a light Sourdough, the french toast had good flavor and came together nicely with the syrup. All in all, we absolutely loved Avenue Grill. If you are hangry for breakfast this is the place to visit bc they cook to order your mega entree right away. It's set in a nondescript strip mall & the restaurant itself is small with outdoor seating with space heaters but we three sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait at all for a table. It's very casual yet chill ambiance. Parking is free & there is only one restroom for the entire restaurant. So plan ahead. My son & I had the Denver omelettes with sourdough toast. My wife had her usual veggie omelette with no cheese but with sourdough toast. When we were served our breakfast our faces lit up literally bc of the massive amount of food. Good, solid breakfast diner in Lodi. We drove all the way from Sac because there weren't a lot of places open early morning (6am). Trusting in Yelp reviews, we headed to Lodi's highly rated and popular Avenue Grill. Service was wonderful. Our server (blond lady with glasses) was friendly and chipper and had a very nice demeanor. She was on top of everything. Food came out quickly too. Seemed like the rest of the customers there were local regulars, who knew one another. Cozy, family-friendly vibez. I got the chicken fried steak with crispy potatoes. Good country gravy, seasoned potatoes, and chicken fried steak was delicious. Big portion, enough for leftovers. My husband got the steak & eggs. The steak was a little too dry and under seasoned to my husband's liking. He always orders medium-well, but it was more well. I did agree that it didn't have much flavor. But I had it the next day for leftovers and thought it was good mixed with my gravy and potatoes. So if you're looking for a good traditional breakfast diner, this is probably your spot. Visited this place while staying in Lodi and looking at Yelp for a good place for breakfast. It's a nice little gem of a place where many of the locals gather to enjoy a good meal and talk. The service was amazing, friendly and just what you would expect from a nice hometown place where the locals meet. Warm and welcoming and great hospitality! The ambiance was your local diner style place serving good food. As for the food it was good. The ham and eggs were perfectly cooked and just right. The pancakes were good. I was torn between the French toast and pancakes but when I visit gain will probably go with the French toast. The pancakes were a bit thin for my liking but had good flavor just me being picky as I like pancakes a little more fluffy. Summertime it's getting kinda warm by lunch. The vibe outside is remarkably different than inside; it's Sierra Nevada mom and pop roadside logging country restaurant. It's nice because the service is just as good as inside, and if chatting is a priority, the patio is much quieter than inside. The service is great either way, and they'll happily customize your food, and it comes *the way you ordered it. All the servers are strong, but Stacie is a blast--she's a joke teller, and they're great jokes! No prudes tho, some of these jokes are whispered! I eat here with my family after church frequently, the people who work here are always so friendly and welcoming. My grandpa can be kind of an annoying old man making jokes about getting things for free and stuff like that, (the jokes people who work in retail or restaurants hear toooo often, I work retail so I know) but the waitresses are very nice and know how to laugh it off well!
