Classic home cooking and comfort food [Roseville CA] First time dining at Chubby's was 9 years ago in 2017 and I never returned... no reason, there were just too many dining options in Roseville but I recently came back and had brunch here one Sunday morning. A classic breakfast sounded good at the time... From the breakfast menu I chose the Juke Box Special but the friendly server suggested the Soldier Boy instead which was basically the same thing except this included grilled potatoes and only one pancake. The server urged me to try the potatoes... omgosh! it was so good, they were grilled and I love the crunchiness. Nothing fancy on the menu just good, ole' classic home cookin' and diner "comfort food." Breakfast is served all day. Usually go here for breakfast. The serve a great breakfast! We were looking for a place for a late lunch. It was 2:00 and Chubby's closed at 3:00. So we decided to give it a try. About half full. So the service was amazing! I ordered a chili burger with fries. They have the most amazing chili with beans! Best chili with beans I. The area! I do like Willy's Chili burgers but that is a different kind of burger. But for an opened-faced chili burger this is the place to go! read more

We visited Roseville for the first time and found the spot on yelp. We're glad we tried it! Great little hole in the wall spot with killer breakfast, service, and it's kid friendly. We got there at 9am on a Saturday before the rush. Great portion sizes and you can tell the food is great quality as we did not leave feeling sluggish. I love coming here whenever I'm in the Roseville area. We often come for breakfast, although we've been known to come for lunch a couple of times too. The staff here are really nice and make sure that you have everything you need such as coffee, refills, and condiments. There's no restroom open to the public but if you ask an employee, they will give you a code. There's plenty of seats at the counter as well as tables and booths. To go orders are honored here. there's plenty of parking outside in the parking lot. I highly recommend you check this place out for the cool environment and the delicious food. read more

Went to Chubby's Diner this morning with my BFF for a last-minute breakfast. We got there around 9ish and it was seat-yourself. We each grabbed a cup of coffee and did some catching up. Our waitress was so friendly and answered all our questions. My friend even asked about their chicken salad, and the waitress mentioned that the owner is all about quality and makes everything fresh. While we waited for our food, she even brought over a sample for us to try, which was such a sweet touch. I ordered the bacon, spinach, onion, and avocado omelette (I subbed the tomato for onion), and it was tasty! I really enjoyed the potatoes and added a side of their salsa, which was delicious. Great start to my Sunday! I came to Chubby's Diner for brunch after reading several 5-star reviews. I wasn't sure what to expect since the windows are tinted, and it doesn't look very inviting. However, my first impression changed as soon as we walked through the door. We were greeted by friendly folks wishing us a good morning and were seated at a window booth. Inside is small yet cozy, and I noticed nearly all the booths were filled. Chubby's also has an open kitchen concept so you can see all the hot plates coming out. We ordered the love me tender (chicken fried steak) and bacon, spinach, tomato, and avocado omelette. Both dishes came with grilled potatoes (be sure to order extra crispy) and we upgraded our toasts to biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious and the server shared that everything is homemade! Small family type Diner, that has a feel good atmosphere. The staff is awesome. Friendly fast service with great personalities. The food was amazing. I had the bacon, mushroom omelette. The portion was large, and the eggs cooked to perfection loaded with fresh bacon and mushrooms. The home potatoes are a 10/5 excellent. The place is clean and busy often, but I have never had to wait too long for a table. The service is fast and all of the employees are genuine and friendly. There's also a less expensive kids menu and a variety of desserts. After two visits, I'm convinced that Chubby's Diner is a great place to eat. I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger both times because I enjoyed it so much during my first visit. It's a hearty burger served on a fluffy bun and comes with lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side. Each bite was filled with hamburger, hot saute'd muschrooms, and gooey swiss cheese. It was very satisfying and filling with all the mushrooms. Not to metion a large order of steak fries on the side. The fries there were cooked perfectly each visit and came with plenty of ranch when I requested it. The service was speedy and the staff is very friendly. One of the owners even walked around visiting with regulars during one of my visits. The decor gives it an authentic feel and I enjoyed the old movie posters. Approached the counter today to ask if it would be possible to have a rather large work group come in for breakfast next week and occupy a few booths for our monthly get-together. I was holding a packet that I planned on showing her so she knew we were legit and before I could even say anything she said "I'm alone and I'm busy....." and as I stared at her completely confused, she followed up with "Are you a salesman...? What do you need?" What kinda greeting is that? Is everyone who walks into your business with a paper in their hands a salesman? How about just saying "Good afternoon, how can I help you today?" If you're telling the people at the front counter as soon as they walk in that you're alone and busy, maybe you should discuss that with the owner, and not the people looking to support the local business. They have the thick cut fries my favorite. The Hamburger bun seemed very fresh. They make their own buns and fries. My Mom and Dad have been coming to this restaurant for many years. I have only gone a few times. I have to be sure to add it to my regular list. I had my car serviced across the street. It was a nice way to wait until my car was ready. I am flabbergasted. I go to meet my cousin here at this diner, and my immediate greeting was the smell of burnt old frying oil as I walk in. The lady working greeted me pleasantly and showed me where the restroom was. I then go to sit down only to firmly sit on a very uncomfortable bench seat that seems like it's in desperate need for repair or added cushioning. I'm not a big girl and this was not an account of my size. I originally looked this diner up when I was on the yelp and saw I had 3 1/2 stars. Although this food might be 3 1/2 star worthy, I find it hard to believe that no one's walked out of here. Curious what that smell is all about. Yes I could imagine chubby is in the name and the sweet waitress told me one of her regulars calls it fatty's. I immediately said thank you for your time and gracefully walked out the door. Oddly enough, I used to live right down the street from here for a year, used to go to the shopping center at least once a week and the Starbucks couple doors down a few times a week, for a few years... They were on top of it, fast, attentive, helpful and very efficient. The restaurant is an old diner and definitely represents that old school style, layout and vibe. The food was great!
