As an OTR truck driver, we try our best to plan our stops. More so when we have to be parked for a consecutive 34 hour reset. I called ahead to ask what their hours were before choosing to come here. They said midnight cause the overnight girl was out. Got here last night and they were closed at 10:30. Tonight same thing. If you can't be open the posted hours you need to advertise so. The TA down the road would be better than this. With the store under renovation, the food and drink selection is beyond limited. That adds to the inconvenience of a restaurant that closes whenever it feels like it. read more

We are working in the area. And the staff has been very understanding and helpful. The service has been top notch. For every time in there. Amazing service for sure 10/10 but the food not so much. Food left me feeling a little whoozy.

This was just an "ok" breakfast. We both ordered the Mushroom, Broccoli and Gouda skillet...my husband ordered his with chicken and I chose the prime rib. The prime rib platter was quite greasy which resulted in "issues" later in the day. The server seemed generally bored and distracted. Everyone has an "off" day here and there so I hope that was the case for him when we visited. If we come thru again we may give it another try. read more

When we walked in, we waited for about 5 minutes before anyone even came to seat us, our waitress ended up seating us, and she seemed very stressed out as she scrambled to find a clean table. We waited for her to find a spot, and the table was dirty and the waitress didn't seem happy to see us as she tossed menus onto the sticky table. As we waited for our food after ordering, we could hear a lot of random yelling coming from the kitchen. The food came quickly, however it wasn't pleasant. I ordered the veggie omelette, thinking it would be decent, but it was literally swimming in grease. My husband and I ordered sour dough bread, when we got white bread, my husband asked our waitress, " is this white or sourdough?" the waitress said "did you order white or sourdough?" my husband said, "sourdough" then the waitress responded, "we'll then it's sourdough." And walked off. It was white bread.... The place was understaffed for a Sunday morning, and the food was awful. Waste of money. Don't bother. read more

Completely in relation to service: I've had about 3 or 4 negative experiences here in the last year. Literally, the only reason I ever try to go back is for the zesty nachos as it is the only thing on the menu I like. They are trashy nachos but for some reason I really enjoy them. However, not enough to put up with this place anymore. I stayed away for about 3 months after the last disastrous experience I had there with a simple takeout order which ended in contacts to both the store manager and corporate for the horrendous service. Girlfriend and I begrudgingly went yesterday after a hike, hoping that this time would be different. It wasn't. Restrooms: Absolute disaster area. All toilets in female restroom purposely clogged up. Multiple customers complaining at the checkout booth about this. Environment: Noisy, kinda trashy, about what you'd expect from Denny's. Obviously, nobody goes for the environment. Attitude: It has become apparent to me that nobody actually likes being at Denny's let alone working at Denny's. This has been my impression over the course of a year of seeing wait staff. Service: Not greeted when we came in. Stood there for approximately 3 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence and seated us. Sat for 7 minutes at the table with no interaction from any staff. Waitress popped up and asked for drinks. I told her a water and she immediately started to walk away as my girlfriend called out that she'd like a dr. pepper.... She brings back the drinks and tells us our waitress will be with us shortly. Apparently she wasn't our waitress? Sat for another 5 or 6 minutes before our waitress came over and unapologetically asked if we knew what we wanted. I promptly told her the just check for the Dr. Pepper and we would be leaving. Waited at host table near the entrance for too long to pay a $2.50 Dr. Pepper tab. Won't be back. I want to add that we drove to Vallarta's Mexican just 3 minutes down the road and within the 30 minutes of time that we wasted at Denny's... We had our complimentary chips and salsa, a pitcher of Margaritas and both of our delicious entrees out. So, I want to thank Denny's for being awful because if they hadn't been, we wouldn't have discovered my new favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

Very pleased with EVERYTHING! The waitress is just about the nicest gal ever! She was from North Carolina and I'm sooo sorry I forget her name. You'll know if she's your waitress! I had the cranberry/? Pancake breakfast with turkey bacon scrambled eggs & hashbrowns. I scraped off the frosting with orange peel. WAY to sweet! Next time I get this I'll request no frosting. Everything was cooked to perfection. Picture perfect! Compliments to the cook ! The hubby had the pancake breakfast with white choc frosting, red raspberries, turkey bacon, & scrambled eggs. First trip to Denny's in years due to lack of options at where we chose to stay the night. It surprised all of us as to how good it was. I had a half order of nachos and they were very good. Sandwich Doug ordered was very good and his mom had an omelet which she ate most of. They were out of soup even though the menu said it was available, they never offered to make her some. I didn't eat here because I couldn't get any service! I went in; asked if I could place a to-go order was barely acknowledged by a server who said and I quote "your gonna have to wait a minute" I said sure walked over to look at menu and she never came back or acknowledged me again. Another hostess/server came over to the register twice one of which was to seat people that walked in; meanwhile I am still standing there with no help. Then another server walked up to the same table as the hostess did previously to make sure their order had been placed, walked right in front of me while I was still standing at the hostess stand and SLAMMED the plastic menu on the stand never once acknowledging me. I finally turned around to leave, out of patience and clearly a strong warning to not eat there; hearing behind me the hostess/server saying in a very light voice "can I help you" and then sighing as I was walking away I turned to her and said this place is a joke. I am not to blame for them ignoring me this whole time while they were helping others. Obviously everyone there was having a bad morning, but that is no fault of mine and they were not even very busy maybe 6 tables. Hated it. I gave them one star, but only because there is no "black hole of nothingness" rating. I went there with my dad and my 8 year old twins. Usually I am sympathetic and understanding to wait staff, as I spent a few years cooking at a Perkins. Mostly I have a LOT of patience while dining out. But the Gretna Denny's is terrible. Only slightly worse than that garbage pit off I-80 on 84th. We were seated. Shortly after that we ordered our drinks. Coca Cola for dad and I, chocolate milk for the kids. The drinks came and the kids ordered their own meals. The kids menus that we were given instructed the kids to pick an entree from a list of choices and then a side from another list of choices. my daughter ordered chicken nuggets and a salad. My son ordered the little pizza and grapes. Hooray for healthy choices, right? I ordered a burger and fries because I feel I'm entirely too healthy (lol). My dad also ordered a burger, but asked that he get sauteed onions on it and onion rings instead of fries. So we wait. the wait time was a little long for as busy as the place was (like I said, I used to cook at Perkins, so I know what an acceptable wait time is). But that's okay. I don't mind waiting a little. The kids were in a good mood, so it was fine. My dad and i drink our cokes. the waiter says he'll bring some refills (spoiler alert - he never did). The food comes. The salad for my daughter is HUGE with cucumbers and tomatoes and everything (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but more on that later). My son's pizza got dropped on the floor, so it would take a few more minutes to make a new one. They forgot to give my dad onion rings or sauteed onions, but he didn't want to make a fuss. my food was pretty good...Sriracha burger. We asked again for drink refills. The waiter says they'll be right out (spoiler alert - we would never receive these drinks). Finally, my son's pizza comes. No grapes. I mentioned the grapes to the waiter...and i also mention the drink refills. The guy says it'll be a few moments. He disappears for about 10 minutes and then he brings a bowl of grapes and leaves in a hurry (still no daggone drink refills). I happened to look at the grapes before my son pulls one off and I see that several of the grapes are covered in mold. I'm not sure how the heck the waiter didn't notice the mold. i try to flag down the waiter on his next pass, but he pretends he doesn't see me. finally another waitress sees me trying to flag him down. she comes over and asks if she can help with anything. i show her the grapes. she gasps and takes them away. a few minutes later we have better grapes. overall the food was okay. then the bill came. my dad was surprised at the amount. the waiter had charged us almost $3 each for the chocolate milks (the menu said $1.19 each for kids drinks). i then saw the guy charged us for an extra side salad, instead of the Jr salad that was supposed to be included with my daughters kids meal. i call the waiter over. i point out the price of the chocolate milk on the kids menu. he told me those were 'old prices' and that the menus we were given weren't up to date. i told him in no uncertain terms that he was going to fix the prices on the bill. then i told him the salad was supposed to be included with the kids meal. He responds by telling me, "well, i brought a side salad instead of the kids salad, so i charged you accordingly." at this point my head was about to explode. i then told him "the kids were actually pointing at the kids menu WHILE THEY ORDERED. why on earth would you bring an adult side salad?" he said, "i'll see what i can do." seriously? you're going to act like you're doing me a *favor* by only charging the prices listed on the menu?! I felt like asking if they had a pillow I could scream into. Also i'd like to note that i have NEVER BEFORE left a bad review online, as i feel it's a cheap shot against the business. but this dude's attitude was enough to push me over the edge. Now, I love great American diner-food just as much as the next guy. Even the big chain restaurants have some shining moments. I mean, it's real hard to ruin a burger and pancake dining experience...BUT every time i think to myself, "hey, I know I've had several terrible experiences at Denny's, but maaaaaybe I'll give them another chance," it's ended badly. i'm an idiot for going back. my two cents, unless you like moldy grapes, being charged too much for meals, and staring at a cup half-filled with slowly melting ice, stay away from this place. read more

If I could give it a 0 I would. My food came 30 minutes later and it was literally disgusting looking. Everything was burnt and in very small portions. They weren't serving what I originally wanted . They claimed they ran out of it. The pancakes advertised had cinnamon on it and they cake out with plain ones claiming it was the ones I ordered. Only reason they deserve one star is the manager was very cooperative when we explained why we didnt want the food anymore . Will never go back to another Denny's. I like this Denny's. We always get good service and for a chain this one can always help accommodate your needs such as substitutions. Plenty of space, great booths, and TVs to keep you up to date with the news, weather, or sports. The menu has healthy options and they have great smoothies. Not a 4 or 5 star restaurant but decent for anytime breakfast and hot sandwiches. read more

Denny's here is the typical denny 's, food is good average breakfast foods. Personally I don't care much for their non breakfast food. The biggest problem with this place is that it is almost always busy (being near a mall and connected to a truck stop ), and they never seem to have enough staff, or have lazy staff. Today we waited not just for a table, as you do most Sundays, but we sat at the table for fifteen minutes before they got our drink order. That was ten minutes ago, and we still haven't gotten our drinks. They have this lady with a bad back running around with too many tables, while they have teenagers making people's drinks. First I must say the service was out of this world! It's seem that whomever is in charge of ordering, doesn't know how to do it. I first heard this problem with the table sitting next to me, then when I went to order dessert they were out of everything pretty much also. 5 min delay getting seated would have been understandable if the restaurant was full. There were three customers seated. Waitresses seemed to be imposed upon when called to the table to place drink requests and again when we were ready to order. This request after waiting 10 minutes for her to come on her own. We stayed just more than an hour but only had coffee refilled once..... We actually felt bad about even requesting more in fear of her attitude and being too put out to meet the request. No food. Out of broccoli. Out of potatoes and out of corn. Ordered a t-bone because they were out of prime rib. That came undercooked then when it returned it was overcooked. We were told they couldn't even make meat sandwiches due to being out of bread. Bathrooms are closed...... Not for cleaning but simply closed. The alternative was forcing a female to walk through the truck center and to the truck driver shower area where the only other restrooms are. We drive by Gretna and this Denny's regularly. Appalling. I would never ever eat here, and would give it zero stars if I could. After a year of Covid quarantining, I foolishly thought Denny's would be a safer choice while on the road, since it caters to a more elderly clientele, the expectation being they would be more vigilant about cleanliness, masking, etc. This particular location didn't get that memo. One waitress wore a cowl that she pulled up over her face to speak with me, then immediately it dropped back down around her neck. The other waitress had her mask under her chin except to greet and seat people. The "busboy" swiped the tables with a rag rather than disinfect them properly between customers. The three of them laughed and chatted maskless as they ignored their customers. One cook, with a huge beard, had no mask at all, and the other wore his under his chin.
