So I've been to this Denny's before. I thought that I had left a review prior, apparently I haven't. I do know the last time I was here a good while back, I left satisfied, so I'm adding an extra star to offset all the one star reviews. Typical Denny's decorum, nothing out of the ordinary. I came in, and my waitress seated me almost immediately. She was super nice and attentive. I ordered an appetizer of boneless wings with extra sauce, and for the first time in a while, the cook gave me exactly what I asked for. I had enough sauce to pretend that I was eating boneless wings cereal, with sauce as the milk . I ordered the mac and cheese brisket sizzlin skillet. It came out somewhat sizzling, but my only complaint is if you look at the close up shot, there's not really a whole lot of mac and cheese on there. I mean I understand not putting on extra onion rings or extra meat, but mac and cheese is relatively inexpensive. So that disappointed me a bit. Other than that, my food came out fast, it was fresh and it was hot. Wait staff was great, and the gentleman that rung me up was also great. I'm sure I'll be back through here again at some point, and I'll probably eat here for breakfast tomorrow morning. read more

Went in and there were a number of people waiting to be seated. Every waitress came up and said it'll be a few minutes and kept working could not find a manager finally found out one of the people serving was a manager, and she said that it would be 10 minutes before we could be seated, even though there were tons of tables available. And when I ask, if the manager was here, she said yes I'm the manager, but she was serving food. No one seemed to care and several people standing behind us left my suggestion is you not come here if you need to be handled in a timely manner. She was very rude. read more

The waitress was on point and wasn't very busy for lunch time. My wife and I only had one issue, we spent around $50.00 for us two including tip of $7.00 but both of us felt as if it wasn't enough food for the cost. Other than that we had no complaints. We were driving to Raleigh and stopped here for a late lunch. I had chicken tenders and husband had meat loaf. Nothing wrong with either dish. The chicken tenders actually tasted like they just cooked it. And husband's meatloaf portion was huge. We didn't have a long wait for our food either. Huge dining room and only 3 of us at tables. The place was practically empty. And the lighting was dimmer than other Denny's so it gave off an eerie vibe. It was quiet and comfortable tho. However when I went to go pick up my order there was no one in line and it took quite a while which is understandable but then The hostess came over and proceeded to take payment for the people in line after me. My order was sitting there at the register and it was already paid for. And if that wasn't bad enough she got really snarky with me and started saying how she could review me like she was assuming that I was already going to give her a terrible review. (Well I am now) then she proceeded to ask me if I had a problem with her which of course I said yes I did I was in line long before the other people got in line, it would've been nice if she would've served me first, since I was waiting the longest. The thinnest bacon strips ever...hard, overcooked Grilled Ham Slice...just nasty. Also one of the dirtiest Denny's we've seen. They're usually never the cleanest, but we can typically count on good, hot, fresh food. Not this time. Greasy, overcooked. Even the hash browns tasted burnt. Regarding the condition of the place... only two other couples in the entire restaurant yet we were seated on a seat that was split in the cushion area so badly I had to ask for a different place to sit. Like why would you sit someone in the worst looking booth possible? They don't even care. Floors are DISGUSTINGLY SOILED. i used to stop here years ago when I was traveling to Pennsylvania with my kids so I figured it would be OK but I see that nothing has changed since the last time we've been here about 10 years ago. And despite the fact that I got the hearty pancakes on a whim (a side that came with the omelette I wanted) they turned out to be the highlight of the dish! Food should be usual but not here lol! Hubby had prime rib Cobb salad... no Avo and shoestring potatoes on top. And the prime rib was old and dry.. wah. He said the worst salad he ever had. This is one of his favs too! So he knows what it should taste like. Being in the south they gave him a tub of dressing. Service is slow and food mediocre. My 55+ Vegi omelet was good but it's supposed to be egg whites and it was whole egg. That's ok for me but not what I expected either. Now this may be a Flying J Truck Stop, but the restaurant is Denny's. The service and food are excellent. Even when it's busy on Sunday mornings, the management and staff do an exceptional job. To top all that off you have choices and the prices are right. I always request a variation of the Fit Fare with whole eggs, grape tomatoes, spinach, and onions scrambled together with regular crisp bacon. OK I've read the dismal recent reviews here. maybe I came on the right day here on Tuesday June 25th 2019.. but I was promptly greated &seated by Ashlee and offered a beverage..as usual at Denny's if there's no freestyle machine that I don't get my wonderful diet ginger ale I went for the diet coke...now this particular Denny's located in the Flying J has always been kind of touching go for a while the reviews definitely reflect that. I also do know that they've changed employee management a few times the manager now who's in here is a great guy very outgoing and professional they seem to have done quite a bit more since the last time I was here probably about nine months ago..I was quite surprised to life ice working very good and most of the employees are very very outgoing and professional to do a very good job the first round was about half crowded which was nice to see Ashlee was working really hard in her section and the counter along with another waiter don't know what his name was. so I opted for one of my favorites the old sizzling bourbon chicken Skillet sans the onions and peppers but with the mushrooms..when it came out it was one of the hottest Denny's skillets I've had in a long time you could hear it sizzling that she brought it out of the kitchen that was awesome..damn thing was so hot it took awhile to even after blowing on each bite to eat it but it was fantastic the broccoli was soft the sauce was perfect the glaze was great the potatoes were fantastic the chicken was well-cooked I couldn't have asked for anything better it was perfect just like on the menu.. so after I join that full meal I wanted a little bit too sure didn't want a whole dessert so I asked for a scoop of chocolate ice cream and how much would it be.. she said a little over two bucks I said cool.. well wasn't quite expecting a gigantic honking scoop that was probably the equivalency of three or four regular ice cream scoops lol..but I didn't complain.. the restaurant was quite clean floors with mop that you couldn't ask for much more of this was a great enjoyable dinner I was glad I stopped here I was hungry and took a chance on it and I'll definitely come back again..so sometimes the reviews are accurate I have seen the shitty reviews and gone in and got exactly what to be expected by them even being optimistic but walking away let down.. but sometimes you kind of go back and forth in favor on the scale and fall out of favor but it seems like they're really working hard to make this so much better Dennys. read more

I placed a mobile order at this restaurant on 6/1/22 around 1145pm. I went inside to pick up. The waitress told Me they did not have any ToGo containers. I could not get my food. I asked how do I get a refund? I was told to respond to the order confirmation email. Once I got home I noticed that the email address was a "no reply" address. I called the customer service number, no answer. The next afternoon on my way to work, I stopped to speak with a manager to inquire about my refund. The manager I spoke with was a maybe 30 - 35 yr old Black Man. I explained my issue. He confirmed they did not have any containers the night before. I told him what the waitress had told me about how to get a refund and the email address being a "no reply" address. I had only ordered a Garden Salad and mashed potatoes. I asked him if I could get the order today. He was MORE than happy to oblige. He made a beautiful fresh salad and hot mashed potatoes!! I wish I'd gotten his name. Very disappointed. After visiting Duke Medical Center we thought we would stop here on the way home. Mistake. Poor service. Had to ask multiple times for basics such as napkins. When we finally got our food - well, some of us, it was not right. And it had been sitting for awhile. The fries were all clumped together. The longest wait was for a salad. Evidently the waitress had to go to the bathroom. And she had to get the lettuce off the truck and then make the salad. It would have been nice to have an update. The grilled chicken was cold when my salad finally arrived. When we finally got napkins they were paper towels from the dispenser behind the counter. The three of us at our table have worked in food service for a long time. We understand delays and other issues. We do not understand poor customer service and ignoring your customers so that they have to repeatedly ask for something as basic as napkins. Lesson learned. This is probably the worst Denny's I have eaten at. My wife ordered the fried Mac & Cheese bites off the bacon menu and the queso was a different queso than the other Denny's we ate at. The bites were also barely warm. I ordered the pancake bites and they were not covered cinnamon sugar and they were very greasy. I mean soaked in it. I couldn't finish them. Our waitress was polite but she did the one thing that drives me absolutely bonkers when it comes to customer service... she coughed into her hand. She did it a few times actually. I always cough into sleeve as high up my arm as I can as to not get the nasty germs all over my hands. This woman is handling food and coughing into her hands. Gross. That aside, she was curtious. The timeliness also left a lot to be desired. We were on a road trip and needed to leave so we asked for our check and it took about 10 minutes just to get that. Seriously? 10 minutes for the check. Upon arrival, we were graciously greeted by the staff and promptly escorted to our table. Throughout the meal, the waitress was kind and timely with her service. The food, however, was another story. While the pancakes were edible, the hashbrowns were undercooked; the eggs looked like rubber; and I could of easily confused the sausage with my dog's bacon treats. Truthfully, I wasn't kidding myself, I knew I was at a Denny's and prepared for this. But the sausage and eggs flat out creeped me out. The service was good though. No problems there. She brings them with her hair almost touching the liquid, no straws asks if we were ready and we said no give us a few more minutes. 15 minutes goes by NO WAITRESS CAME BACK. NO ONE CAME OVER TO US NOBODY DID A THING! So we walked out and went over to the Wendy's across the street AND IT WAS THE EXACT SAME. Let me start off by saying I'm in the service industry and I'm willing to forgive some flaws in service and/or food....but this place is unacceptably terrible. Every time. Today was the last straw. My dad and I arrived around 9:30am to have breakfast. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated in a not even half full dining room. Our waitress (who didn't even tell us her name) took our drink order and disappeared for 5-10 minutes only to return to double check the drink order. Cool, fine. She must have had something else going on. There were several un-bussed tables so I guess they had been busy earlier. Anyway, she finally returns with our drinks and we're ready to order with our menus closed. Without asking if we were ready, she turns around and spends another 10 minutes bussing/wiping tables. There was another waitress just hanging out behind the counter so it's not like there was no one else to take care of the cleaning. When she did get around to taking our order she looked at me as if I had two heads when I asked for the everything hashbrowns instead of plain, followed by "I'll try." I felt like it was gonna be a while for our food, so just to see, I set a timer. It took 32 minutes for our food to reach the table and by that point there were no more than 4 tables including us in the restaurant, no open menus. Most people were eating. When she dropped off the food she said she would be back to refill my empty tea and my dad's nearly empty water. That didn't happen. Both mine and my dad's food was luke warm, IF that. My sausage in my omelet was burned, cheese completely unmelted and mostly just on the plate, not even in the omelet. My dad's eggs looked shriveled and nasty. Hashbrowns were mushy and more onion in them than actual potato's. I ordered 2 biscuits as my bread and only received one. She didn't once come back to check on us or even bother to ask if everything looked good when she served it. We were beyond ready to leave so we walked up to the counter to pay. She tried to ask me if I wanted a tea to go, I let my dad pay and I walked out. Just really really bad service. I don't understand what the issue is. I could understand the waiting time if they had been in the middle of a rush, but they weren't. I left feeling really disappointed and upset that what was suppose to be a nice meal and one on one time with my dad ended up being a frustrating and disappointing experience. I really love Denny's and every time i see the commercials highlighting a delicious deal I always force my boyfriend to take me here. EVERY TIME we come we wait forever for drinks and then wait FOREVER for our order to be taken. Just a few weeks ago we had to get up and leave because after waiting an hr and 20 minutes still no food (we had an appointment up the road) I just wish they could get it together. Stopped here on the way home from Raleigh because Dennys is not something I eat often what a mistake. The kitchen is understaffed, food barely eatable, and service is just about average. No surprise that this location has 2 stars. We came in at 9:30pm not busy - only had 2 tables besides us. No friendly greeting. Eggs weren't cooked as requested- gal did redo without attitude- which was good. English Muffen was not toasted for either of us. Sausage was probably old - because it was over cooked and cold.
