I came in, the host set me at my table. 20 minutes later an older couple was sat at the table right behind me. Waitress came took their drink order... The couple at the table in front of me, the waitress waiting on the table behind me, asked them had someone taken their drink order. Wow!!!! 5 minutes later the HOST came and asked for my drink order. 2 minutes later, the manager came and took my food order. Good ol Cracker Barrel, when you need a quick comfort meal they never let you down. Stop for a late afternoon meal. My wife and I stopped at Cracker Barrel in Mebane NC. I had country fried steak with mash potatoes, green beans and hash brown casserole. It was satisfying and filling. At 15.00 dollars just the right price. My wife had the egg , sausage, hashbrown casserole a new menu item it was pretty good. At 14.00 dollars a nice price for a tasty breakfast at 3:00pm. I sampled a couple of bites. I will give it a try one day. Cracker Barrel is a tough menu choice because they have all my comfort food favorites. The service is always good and quick. So, we will return again, now what to get, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken. It is always a treat to eat at Cracker Barrel. read more

I attempted to dine at this Cracker Barrel a few months ago. There was a little bit of a wait, but that is normal on the weekends. I was seated and ordered. I wish they had mentioned that no food was coming out of the kitchen then. I was wondering why nobody was leaving, as I thought they were finishing up meals. But they were just being given biscuits as the kitchen was behind. I overheard them talking to other tables and realized nobody had food yet. I counted at least 12 tables ahead of me and likely more in the other portions of the restaurant, so I decided to leave. I was served tea and biscuits, so I wanted to pay for that, but I was told I could just leave. It seems the manager had no idea what was going on and thought my order would be right up. But she had no idea food wasn't leaving the kitchen. I'm not sure what could have caused the delay. read more

Todays cracker barrel experience was very bad. I will say we did have severe weather last night and they were short handed but some of it was just insane. We went with our 3 boys because everyone was hungry and our power was out. It took about 15 minutes before we got our drinks even! Then it took about an hour for the food to come out. Some of it was wrong and some of it we had to send back. They are known for their pancakes but these were terrible. They were extremely dense and flat. Like they didnt whip the batter at all. By the time we got our food my kids were all really cranky and ready to go. The poor waitress had too many tables and was running around 100mph tying to keep up. This experience wont make or break this place for us because I know it wasnt typical but we will not go back if we are in the same situation as today where we have bad weather or something because this was not enjoyable by anyone. read more

It's been over 20 years since I've stopped to eat at Cracker Barrel and no wonder I waited so long. I showed up way after lunch and it took a while to get a table. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to stop in to take my order and give me water. It took another 30 minutes to receive my food. After eating, it took another 10 minutes for someone to bring me my check. The food was decent but it was not the greatest experience. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

We (a party of 3) were here for AN HOUR & 30 MINUTES right before closing. We watched every other table in this empty restaurant be seated and served EVERYTHING before us (yes even biscuits/cornbread AND get a second order) while we had nothing. We had to go chase down a person we believed to be the manager after we watched her go to table to table and check on people ... but never us. Our server then had the nerve to say there's only 1 chef (after serving us an appetizer with no saucers...& our food over an hour later). Saturday night at dinner time, the restaurant was less than halfway full. The server was rude and rolled her eyes whenever we asked for anything. The food was awful. Instead of creamed potatoes, they chopped up an old baked potato trying to pass it along as creamed potatoes. The turnip greens were cold and just not good. The Nashville Hot sauce for the chicken sandwich was actually gritty. We ordered the new chocolate chip pancakes - they were out of chocolate chips. She also ordered sausage but got bacon instead. They were out of cornbread when we asked for some and when we got them, they were burned. We did not get a basket with butter and jam like most of the other tables and got the famous eye roll when we asked for some. Before posting this, I actually sent Cracker Barrel an email in which they apologized profusely and promised a "complimentary card" but what I got instead was a recipe of Sausage Manicotti?? With the way Mebane is growing, they need to make some major changes if they hope to stay in business. However, we will never return. read more

Ate at the Cracker Barrel in Mebane NC today. We were seated fast. It was a good while before a waitress came to our table. She was standing in the kitchen talking to others. She finally came out and took our orders. It took at least 40 minutes before we got our food. I ordered fried shrimp, pintos and hash brown casserole. My wife ordered chicken and dumplings and collard greens. Hers came out piping hot. My food came out at a little above room temperature. Shrimp were overcooked, the pintos had developed a ring around the edge of the bowl, from sitting so long. The hash brown casserole was a tiny portion and was room temperature. Instead of rebranding their logo they might want to work on their management, staff and food. The last several we've eaten at have been mediocre at best. A good manager would not let this happen. read more

I have to say that I am disappointed in today's dining visit. My mom really wanted fried chicken and we got there right at 11 AM but was told it would be about 30 minutes for it. She settled for the meatloaf which was really dry, again disappointing and surprising for the beginning of the lunch session. She's not a complainer so she picked at it. As for me, my bowl of pinto beans had a large piece of plastic inside them, possibly a piece of a plastic bag. The manager said she took something off the bill, the waitress brought the ticket back and nothing was removed. I mentioned it to her, and she took the receipt back, then brought it back with two dollars off. The quality of this visit is not as expected with the CB visit. read more

Cracker Barrel used to be a place that I enjoyed going if I was in the mood for mid-level comfort food. The atmosphere was great and it was positioned right off of the main interstate highways when we were traveling, so thatthat we could get in and out of there pretty quickly most of the time, even when they had a small wait. But they're not the same restaurant that they used to be years back sadly, as their food quality and the flavor of their dishes overall have changed for the worse. Their breakfast is still pretty good, and their biscuits and sawmill gravy are probably the only items that have stayed the same and are still good! So if you're going there to get breakfast you'll probably be okay, but other than that, I wouldn't bother. read more

I am a cracker barrel member meaning that my phone number is attached to my order and instead of cracker barrel calling me to inform me that they are out of something, for the third time they have refunded the money and I get no main course. That is simply unacceptable and totally unprofessional. I can deal with a wrong order but getting no main course at all because the restaurant refuses to contact the customer is absurd. My sister and I decided to have an early dinner on a Friday evening to avoid a crowd. Fortunately, they were not very busy but, unfortunately, the service could have been better. The service could have been faster and 3 or 4 different people were bringing things to our table rather than a lone server. My family and I ordered curbside pickup and had a terrible experience. Our order was to be ready within 20 mins. We got to the store and followed the directions on the pick up sign to click "I'm here" and wait for someone to come out with our food. After waiting about 10 mins our toddler got fussy and we had to get out and walk around. I went inside to check on our order and had to wait in line for the hostess. After reaching the hostess and telling them we had been waiting quite a while for our curbside the host pointed me to the main check out counter and said I needed to tell them and they would be the ones to let the host know. I then had to go wait in line another 10 mins to speak to one of the six employees behind the counter. No one was in a hurry to help me. After telling them our order info someone went to check the kitchen. After about 8 more minutes she came back and said they were out of biscuits. I asked them what the solution would be and they offered cornbread, which we did accept because we had paid for the order already. By the time we got home from Cracker Barrel all our food was ice cold. The grilled chicken was bland and gross. The hash brown casserole was dry and they only gave us about 2 bites in our side of broccoli . It was very disappointing to not get the biscuits as my family does not eat cornbread. 11/20/19 Stopped here for dinner during a road trip. The place was super busy. Still they managed to seat everyone pretty quickly. I ordered the southern fried chicken platter with hash brown casserole and mac and cheese. The southern fried chicken was good but pretty standard. I ordered some honey mustard sauce to add some flavor. The mac & cheese was very tasty. The hash brown casserole was so bland that I left most of it over. They were out of biscuits! We went to this CB tonight after being at the hospital with our granddaughter, we were exhausted and hungry. We waited at least 25 minutes for our food and when it finally arrived it was lukewarm at best. We had to wait for silverware which took another 3-4 minutes. My husband's fish was so hard he couldn't eat it. We told our server and she said she would tell the manager but then proceeded to bring us a bill for the full amount and walked away. The manager never came out another server asked what we were waiting for and we said a manager. The manger immediately came out and agreed the fish had been refried and said she would talk to the line cook. If you're looking for country style or southern food, this is the right place to go. I love their biscuit/corn bread and I always ask for apple butter. Came out and the dumplings were cooked more and looked more edible. Chicken had no seasoning, seeing a trend. Tasted like they just boiled it in water. A disappointing meal, no future plans on returning. My chicken and dumplings far more superior. My wife can no longer complain when I call this establishment ... Crapper Barrel. They've earned the name. Also if your employee complains about not feeling well, send them home. Patrons don't want to hear them complain after driving a couple hundred miles, we just wanted a good hot meal. You failed miserably on both fronts. read more

We took our family out to eat at Cracker Barrel tonight. We had to ask for the food and spilled drink to be cleaned up so we could sit down. No refills offered on drinks, never did get napkins we requested. When the waitress brought out the food she told me they didn't have what I ordered ready and not sure if they would or not have it. We had already been waiting for an hour so I asked to have what I ordered taken off our bill. The waitress came back and said the manager said you ate your sides so the manager said you will have to pay for it. I don't mind paying for the side salad and apples but feel the entire experience was less than desirable. The manager didn't even come out to the table when I asked to speak with her. She sent someone else. We definitely will not be going back. Good customer service should start with management and that certainly didn't happen either. read more

We were impressed. Got there at 9:30 when the place closes at 10pm. No matter. Graciously met by the front shop lady, and host/manager. We weren't rushed one bit. Great crew, treating everyone with an easy friendly banter. Enjoyed our servers. Great manager, who checked on us mid meal. Special side on Thursdays is sweet potato casserole with pecans. We had the catfish, fried okra, hush puppies, pinto beans, turnip greens, corn bread and biscuits, and hash brown casserole. Sweet tea. All scrumptious!
