I loved that it still has the pharmacy feel, and that they kept the Apothecary neon sign out front, the 1890's ceiling, the 1920s mosaic floor tile, the 1930's fountain bar with bar stools, a juke box, old cash registers, a vintage "Drugs & Lunch" sign in the back, and apothecary bottles. Outside the building is a Coca-Cola mural painted in 1905. It's amazing to think that author Thomas Wolfe used to hang out at this very soda fountain back in the day! I arrived right around 11:00 AM while the breakfast menus were still out. Although the Eggs Benedict looked highly tempting, I ultimately went with the egg salad on toasted sourdough. It was a generous portion, topped with fresh lettuce and tomato, served with a bag of chips and a pickle. You could immediately tell the egg salad was completely homemade and fresh. I also treated myself to an old-fashioned ice cream soda with chocolate ice cream, which was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed my lunch immensely, and the lively, retro atmosphere made it even more fun. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, even taking extra care to make sure I noticed all the historical decor spread throughout the space. I already look forward to my next visit!

It's a great place to stop in when you're walking around Main Street and you just need a quick break for a soda or an ice cream. They're always playing really cool music and the vibe is just chill and very family oriented - definitely a lot of locals come here. I do not expect anyone working in a restaurant to look perfectly polished, and I do not care about personal style, but hair hanging over food is a very basic sanitation concern and something management should be addressing. It's especially frustrating because the food itself is still very good, and we genuinely like Haus Heidelberg. I hope this is corrected, because I would much rather continue supporting the restaurant than feel uneasy about something as preventable as basic food-handling hygiene.

When paying for our party of 6, the young gentleman at the counter kept saying that we had 7 buffets instead of 6. In addition, he told us drinks were a part of the meal, but never told my family they were an upcharge. Thankfully our party decided to have all waters. While walking to our table, I noticed that many of the menu items were empty or low. For example, the taco bar area had no food and the salad bar was extremely low. This made me a little nervous, but I kept an open mind. After being seated we were greeted with an extremely friendly waitress. She came back to the table often refilling our drinks and took our empty plates off the table. Although we had a wonderful waitress our visit did not go very well, which is why I am giving Golden Corral a low rating. During the whole visit no items on the buffet were refilled, which was appalling due to the high volume of customers enjoying dinner. They actually ran out of pizza, yams, baked potatoes, and taco bar items. The salad bar was completely depleted. In addition the food was extremely bland and not the same quality as other Golden Corrals that we have been too. Maybe Henderson had a rough night? But only having half of your buffet bar partially filled is appalling. On the other hand the restaurant was clean, with no visible dirt. The staff we encountered were friendly and our waitress was phenomenal. However, if our family was in the area again, we would probably try another restaurant in the area.
