It took us nearly an hour to put in our order and have our clam chowder, quesadilla burger, and chicken quesadilla brought to us. Our waiter was diligent in making sure we had our necessities taken care of but she looked really unhappy the entire time. I wish we could have cheered her up instead of having her serve our grumpy faces! The food we had was terrible. It looks like something I would have tried to make and whatever I make is usually pretty terrible. The quesadilla burger looked and tasted like two tortilla wraps, a patty, and a cheese that someone stuck in a microwave but didn't heat it all the way. The chicken quesadilla was the equivalent but probably a few minutes more. The clam chowder was creamy water. The tortilla chips are chewy and gummy. The salsa is very thick. Well, first trip to a Denny's in 15 years, and got to admit we walked in the door expecting nothing more than the unspoken motto of 'adequate food served quick'. However, we both ordered the healthy sounding wild Alaskan salmon with broccoli and multigrain rice, and were pleasantly surprised! Rice was cooked well, broccoli steamed to perfection and the salmon was tasty, if a little overdone. Cheap at sub-$11 too! This Denny's is literally located right off the exit of interstate 5 and highway 46 in Lost Hills. It's an ideal location for travelers as it's close to many other gas stations and fast food places. This Denny's like any other and serves that old-fashioned diner food 24/7. I have frequented this one several times already due to work and the servers are usually friendly and very attentive. In particular, the last time I came here my server was super friendly and very attentive. He constantly kept checking up on me. I usually get meals from the 777 menu due to them being available only after 4 PM and cheaper and I get their 777 burger as it's only $7.99. It's good and juicy burger and flavorful! Well worth the price! My other favorites at Denny's are the nachos, the Philly cheesesteak melt, and the grand slam for breakfast! Currently, there's a lot of construction going on right next to the Denny's so it can be get a little congested, but that doesn't affect the business. While Denny's isn't the best food in the world,I had great service and my food was piping hot and tasty! I recommend this Denny's if you're really hungry on your way through Lost Hills! read more

Stopped here for breakfast on the drive down to LA. We got the grand slam breakfast and the fit fare veggie skillet. Service wasn't bad, and the food was pretty good. They did forget to bring an OJ until we were almost done with the meal, and charged us for an extra coffee (but they quickly reversed it when we asked). I'd probably actually give 3.5 stars, but I'll round up because I think it's better than people on here are giving it credit for. read more

Breakfast overall was O K But, we sat for a long time before a waitress came up to take our order. Can we have drinks first please like coffee? After telling her that, another 10 minutes for a drink. Breakfast was kind of cold but then we both noticed there was zero butter on anyone's toast. We asked the host to get out waitress, he asks what's wrong, we tell him and he walks right by her. Does nothing! We finally get her, she says oh I didn't notice. "Do you still want it?" Yeah we want it! So she takes it, and returns the same now hard and cold toast to us. Even the one that was bitten into. After getting her attention again, she says sorry, she didn't look at it when they did it. What? If you can't make and butter toast, give it up! Not bad to stop by during a long drive. Just like any other Denny's that I have been to, this place is not bad at all. The bright side is that it's not like in Cities, where even during the late night it gets REALLY BUSY. Here, because you are "Out in the middle of nowhere", those "late busy times" are EMPTY and more EASIER ACCESS! Quiet and Low-Key. We were sat right away, it was our table and a table with a party of 6 people. We sat at our table for 20-30 minutes with no taking drink orders or food orders. Restaurant had roughly 6-7 employees but all were talking amongst them self behind the counter, we finally had to ask if we can get some service at our table. I've been to plenty of Dennys but this one in particular had great service at 4am. Tony was our server. Super nice and really took care of us. The pancakes were so moist and tasted delicious. We waited over 50 minutes for our food while every table around us; that had people of color (Hispanic and Asian) got the food while we mysteriously never got ours. 5+ parties that came after us all came and went and our waitress never once checked on us. After taking our order our waitress never came back to give us more water or refill our soda. When we asked the manager where our food was, they said "it's coming out" but did not seem remorseful or empathetic to our waiting. I hesitated to tie it to our race but when my mother mentioned a similar concern. After reading other reviews, I now believe our poor service was tied to our white race. It's a pretty common theme in the other comments. Karma is real and the waiters and managers should think twice about how they treat other human beings regardless of their race. We just walked out of this sub-par Denny's in Lost Hills. We didn't even bother eating there, due to the lack of service. Don't eat here. This restaurant is off of I-5, our family of four is traveling towards Los Angeles. There were about 8 people in line ahead of us, looking agitated, waiting to be seated. We found out why. The left side of the restaurant was totally empty. The right side was busy. No one was getting seated ahead of us. An older blonde lady server with shorter hair kept passing our waiting crowd. No acknowledgement of "I'll be right with you," or anything like that. Shooting us looks as if we were waiting for the last food on earth. After about 15 minutes of this, we left. So did others. There are plenty of other places to eat in the area to give our money to. So to whomever is managing this Denny's tonight on Tuesday, December 29th around 6:00 pm, you need to tell your seating attendants to provide some kind of acceptable service. Welcome people. At least acknowledge them and offer some welcoming hospitality. And most of all - seat people. This is a busy area that travelers go through. People want to be seated quickly. We don't want to be treated like we're doing you a favor by walking through the door. An elderly couple in front of me were waiting a long time. They left, too. Management, handle your staff levels appropriately. This is a holiday week and it's very busy. You need to be able to handle the increase in customers. You are letting dollars walk out your door. We walked out because if we were getting this poor, pathetic experience before even getting seated, what more to come after we eventually get seated an eon later? Stopped here to stay at the Days Inn on our way back from SF to SD. Denny's was really the only choice for a beer or wine with dinner and a sit down restaurant. I had no choice and have not eaten at Denny's for dinner in years and only for breakast when I am forced to. What a shock we had. I ordered a salad, Lemon pepper grilled tilapia with rice and tomato slices. My friend had Mushroom swiss chopped steak with veg and mashed potatoes. My salad was really cold and delicious!! We ate here at Denny's for our dinner as soon as we arrived "in town." We checked into the hotel first and then walked on over to the diner (there was a row of shrubs demarcating the two property boundaries). The food is typical of any Denny's. However, we noticed they are now advertising a new to-go feature that we had considered for breakfast the next morning (in hindsight we should have done that). Anyway, the bleu cheese dressing had tons of bleu cheese chunks. Always a plus in my book. My hubby got the seasoned fries with his meal and they tasted just as good as the curly fries from Arby's. Don't think we'll be coming here on a regular basis, but the next time we drive up to Paso it's an option. read more

I was here late near midnight and the place was still packed, and the service was great (probably because of all the tips), food was still fresh (I think they just get them from nearby farms). Not the usual Denny's quality. Maybe because they're the only sit down restaurant at this location, but really, fast food would have been preferable. Long wait to be seated; longer to receive food. Burgers came prepared incorrectly; they were out of obvious things, like honey mustard. Fries served lukewarm. Server had to be reminded to bring things more than once. They weren't THAT busy. The final kicker is the lousy crayons they give to kids. They're all waxy and lacking in real color. Chintzy. Hubby and I stopped there on the way back from a trip to get something to eat and let our car have some well deserved rest. We like Denny's most of the time...this being said, this one...is to be skipped over, no matter how much you'd like somewhat of a 'sit down' restaurant vibe. She spent most of her time LOUDLY flirting with the line cook. I don't care if you're flirting, but do that on your own time, please. We only got silverware after we had to ask for it. No one else in that building seemed to have this problem. We were the only mixed couple in there, and it sure feels like they let us know they didn't like it. Also, when she came around to refill our water cups, I was chewing at the time, so I didn't want to talk with my mouth full of course, so I slid my half empty cup towards her and she asks me with really slowly spoken speech if I would like some more water...Dude, I speak English. You could hear me and my husband converse while we were waiting for our meal to come. :/ This place also messed up the egg style on my husband's breakfast sandwich... It took about 25 minutes to get the cheese quesadilla that's listed on the value menu...which is supposed to come with sour cream [of course it didn't, we had to ask for that as well]...and the 'salsa' just looked like they threw it on the plate. Zero stars. I walked in 10 seconds after a single man. I was dining single also. I was seated off to the side in a tiny booth while the man was set in a big booth by the rest of the customers. I watched the man get greeted seated and order his drink. I'm think cool service is going to be quick. So hostess comes back seats me and I sit. I look at menu. I Facebook. I close my menu. I put my phone away. I wait. The waitress is walking back forth actually a few of them. A particular one however isn't doing much. Cleaning tables dropping checks seems like busy work. Avoid at all costs! This place is woefully understaffed. Bathrooms were filthy and service was poor. (I'm guessing that this place is used as a "rest stop" for those on I-5 road trips, but that is no excuse.) We were on such a road trip and wanted something other than fast food. We walked in and the restaurant was less than half empty, but still we were told there would be a 10-minute wait. The wait time was accurate, so no issues there, and the hostess walked us to a table in the back of the restaurant (and we passed about five empty, but un-bussed, tables on the way there). We sat down and 10 minutes passed without even being acknowledged by our waitress, even though she served the table right next to us their drinks and meal. She came by a few times during that 10 minutes and didn't bother to say something like, "I'll be right with you" or even just introduce herself. So, we got up to leave. On the way out, I told the manager that we were leaving because no one bothered to come to our table to take our order. She said, "Oh okay, thanks" (not kidding). And seemingly as an after-thought, she said, "I'm sorry about that." I got the feeling that lots of people walk out of that restaurant without ordering. read more

Mediocre service at best. My main issue with the place is it took them way too long for a salad and some chicken nuggets to come out. Only to find my young daughters $4 plate of 4 nuggets were burnt or cooked in old oil I don't know. We asked them to make her some new ones and they brought back some that looked exactly the same as the 1st. she did not eat them however they still charged me for them. Dear Denny's server, I'd NEVER give a place that serves breakfast all day less than four stars. Seriously. Breakfast is what they serve in heaven, and I love, love, love it. But please don't hand me a delish looking omlette with hasbrowns on the side, gracefully draped with two giant strips of bacon when I requested the VEGGIE skillet and then defiantly pull out the menu to read the description to me. I know this is Denny's and I can't really expect "service" per se, but perhaps you could pretend that you DON'T hate your job, instead of walking back to the kitchen with my botched order, muttering Spanish curses under your breath? I also suggest you keep a little notebook on you, it would help immensely to bring out correct orders to your patrons if you could jot them down quickly so you don't try the mental gymnastics that serving two whole tables (of 2 each) must entail. It may also be helpful to write little notes to yourself "Don't forget hashbrowns with the meal." "Don't put meat on hashbrowns since the patron asked for a VEGGIE meal." You know, things of that nature... As a last favor, maybe you could learn to refer to the menu items by their displayed name, instead of calling the pomegranate smoothie, the "blueberry shake" which makes me want to ask you three times to confirm the beverage I will receive when you surface from behind the counter again.
