My husband's breakfast of sausage and eggs...(Right) My breakfast of a bacon and cheese burrito that I had to send back...(Wrong) My husband's order of iced tea...(Right) My order of iced tea without lemon...(Wrong) My order of a cup of coffee...(Right) Server asking my husband if he wanted a refill on his iced tea as server refilled it twice...(Right) Server not asking me on single time if I wanted a refill on my iced tea...(Wrong) Server not asking me one single time if I wanted a refill on my coffee...(Wrong) Overall thoughts and one final fact... There is zero excuse at all for any server, anywhere, to not take care of the basics such as refilling water, iced tea, and coffee for all persons at a table, instead of just one... The cafe was not busy at the time we were there, empty tables, and no line to get in... My food was bad, and the service towards me, even worse... Overall, this server is without excuse... Had I known about the health code violations from last year before going to Knotty Pine today, I would not have gone there at all... One Final Fact... The food was amazing!!! My chicken fried chicken was the bomb!! The best I'm tested so far. Crusty on the outside and juicy on the inside, and it's huge enough for two people. Let's start with the bad. The quality of some of the food just isn't the same anymore since they took over Ethel's. I'm not saying all of it bad, because their pancakes are still top notch, but other meals kind of lack in hitting that "so good" feel. The good, which is always a hit, is the service. The girls are always friendly and work their butts off. They're attentive to large parties and keep the vibe upbeat. Cope's is a staple in Kern County and the owners are awesome, it's just the food that has been lacking luster. Don't hesitate to go based on my review. Came for breakfast for a book club meeting and ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast which came with two eggs, hashbrowns, single pancake, and the chicken fried steak. Best chicken fried steak in town! Perfectly fried and seasoned! The hashbtowns were perfectly crispy and eggs cooked to perfection. The pancake was buttery, thick, and tasted delicious. Waitresses were incredibly patient as our party had no shows and kept refilling our coffee's. Don't come for me guys. Knotty Pine was my favorite for years. However the food is not what it once was and I've had this conversation with several previous regulars. Was there a big change to the kitchen staff over the past year or so? Hopefully it can get back to what it once was. Service into the restaurant was kind and full of greetings and smiles from everyone. Very cozy environment. As you can see from the pictures it is very cozy and warm; like a cabin you might stay at. I ordered Eggs Benedict. Perfect hollandaise for the Benedict's. Potatoes were crispy. My husband had the hot link breakfast with Lonnie potatoes. He loved SPICY. It was heaven. We shared the French Toast. Omgoodness, lots of food. Great coffee. The seating is tables and booths. Space is a bit tight, but everyone is focused on their family and enjoying their space. I loved this place. It is definitely a monthly keeper to our repertoire of favorites. I can imagine their lunch. Looking forward to returning! If you're in the area, come by and give them a try. Good food as usual. We decided to go here for lunch and it was pretty good for what we got. My wife ordered their egg, bacon, and biscuits with gravy for breakfast and I got their cat fish breakfast meal with bacon (catfish was burnt to a crisp). Just good ol' fashioned breakfast with some great coffee. Service was excellent, never had an empty glass. Loud atmosphere as well, everyone was talking really loud to each other. I CANT GET OVER HOW AMAZING THIS PLACE IS. Now this place is TRULY A GEM IN BAKERSFIELD. I can't reccomend this place enough if you have never had their Breakfast or Lunch. This place is the defention of flavortown and every penny spent here is absulotely worth it. Stopped by for brunch on a Friday with my wife where I got breakfast and she got lunch around 1pm. They are open till 3pm FYI. I got myself the Denver omlete with Lonnie's hashbrowns and it was a MASSIVE portion of food considering the price. I honestly couldn't finish my plate, too much!!! My meal was a 10/10, just phenomenal. My wife went with a grilled Tereyaki Chicken Sandiwch and she swears it's the best chicken Sandwich in town lol. Overall, do your life a favor and come here. I was in town for work and was looking for a nice breakfast place before I flew out. I came across this cute place on Yelp, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. This was a great choice! When I arrived there was a wait, and the parking lot was full, but because it was just myself I was able to walk in and get seated immediately at the bar by the nicest host. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage and I chose breakfast potatoes and a biscuit with gravy. This was So much food, but everything was delicious. To start off the breakfast potatoes were awesome. They had the perfect texture, perfectly seasoned and there were a lot of them. The sausage was also fantastic, it was perfectly season and I think it may be made in house but I'm not sure. Either way it was very good. My eggs were perfectly cooked and my biscuit was so flaky. I've gone here a few times now. I've eaten here twice and I've gotten to go orders. And the food is absolutely delicious!!!! Mouthwateringly good seriously!!!! I've tried a few of their stuff and I haven't eaten anything that wasn't just absolutely amazing/mind-blowing! The food isn't expensive. But it gets busy here which is why I've ordered to go a few times. If you want affordable food that'll fill you up and is also extremely tasty. You definitely need to go here. I've never heard one complaint about the food or service. There is a small town feel to the place, the decor is very much that way. The staff is prompt & friendly even though they are very busy. They have a quite extensive menu of breakfast & lunch items. Breakfast is served all day. Their lunch menu looks excellent as well. Tried their meat lovers burrito. Comes with bacon, ham, and sausage. Replaced ham with chile Verde. Pretty good. They had the chicken Verde under the burrito topped with shredded cheese that hadn't melted yet. The hash browns in side were filling but I wish they were crunchier I had asked the hostess for a mix of sweet tea and unsweetened tea. She was considerate enough to ask if I wanted that more or less sweet. I said less sweet and with lemon. She brought it to me with 2 lemon wedges and it was perf. The moment I finished my plate someone came by and asked if they could take it. Very attentive. First time our Friday group has met at the Knotty Pine cafe. We had a comfortable table for 6 in the back dining area. Our waitress was friendly attentive and enjoyable she explained the extensive menu and answered all of questions. Our coffee were kept full and waters refilled without asking. All our orders, chili verde omelette French toast 2 senior scrambled & pancake's were brought out promptly. Everyone belonged to the clean plate club except for the CV omelette it was way to big. There's hardwood everywhere, from the tables to the booths. Lots of milling tools and memorabilia were hung up along the walls, and local business cards & ads tucked underneath vinyl table covers. I ordered a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a generous helping of biscuits & gravy. After hearing how great this place is I finally decided to give it a try. I took some family from out of town figuring it would be nice to go somewhere I've never been so we could all be surprised. It made me feel like I was thrifting. After perusing the menu, I decided to try the California omelet with a pancake and country potatoes on the side. The omelet was good but I did not like the potatoes. I always order country potatoes over hash browns because I don't like when the hash browns aren't cooked in the middle. I like my potatoes cooked all the way through and when I ordered them I asked the server to make sure the bell peppers and onions were cooked well but I guess I also should have mentioned to cook the potatoes. In her defense the veggies were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were tasteless and I only took a few bites. My only complaint was my side of scrambled eggs (not pictured) that wasn't scrambled enough & tasted too oily. Fortunately, the chocolate chip pancakes made up for it.
