By far the worst customer service I have ever had in my entire life. Went there to eat months ago and had extremely bad service. Sat is down in a dirty booth and came to take our order literally 18 minutes later. The folks next to us, a party of 6 people, were seated at least 5 minutes after us and had their food brought out before we even ordered. Food came out cold and server was pissed when I mentioned that. I asked for a glass of water and she never brought it, also never brought out the food I ordered for my child but then had it on my bill. We decided to give this horrible place another try this past weekend hoping that it was just an off day. When we arrived we said good morning and asked how long is the wait? To which she rolled her eyes and replied, same as everyone else. I would never go back to this crappy Denny's again. People seem like they hate working here and treat customers horrible. I'm glad they gave us horrible customer service because we found a better place called breakfast club. I never thought a chain restaurant could disappoint but today I was proven wrong. Upon receiving our check my boyfriend and I noticed that the single slice of gingerbread french toast we ordered was $4. When we asked our waitress why this was, since the menu said to add a slice was 59 cents, she said it was because we didn't order a special meal. Already feeling a little cheated we just decided to cut our losses and pack the rest for later. While being checked out by I assume the manager, he wasn't in normal uniform, I noticed that below the register it said 15% off with valid college I.D. I went into Denny's with one of my friends and the only reason I'm giving any stars is because the waiter was really nice, but the guy at the cash register was a horrible to us. My friend and I were going to stay separately and he was being so rude and we had nothing to him. He threw us the receipts and snatched the money out of our hands and I was so angry because we had done nothing to him. I called to ask his name so i could write it and he fakely apologized and I kept asking his name and he would not tell me until at the end which he said his name is Ed but im not sure if that was even his real name(he was tall and African American) to make it worse it looked like he was the manager because he was wearing a blue shirt not a manager, he should not be working there. Showed up at 10pm because we were visiting from out of town. When we arrived it looked pretty busy, but it was pretty much a huge group of loud, obnoxious teenagers (about 20)on one side of the restaurant. The hostess, without much common sense, sat us 3 booths down from the group of teens. Literally, my husband and I had to yell at each other to hear each other talk. Our waitress even had to bend over and ask me twice what I said because she couldn't hear what I ordered. My husband ordered the nachos for an appetizer and when it came, just the middle part had cheese and other toppings. We didn't even eat half of it because it was just plain chips! Came in Sunday morning around 11 for breakfast with my family. Three kids, the husband and I. Our waiter Jason seemed annoyed that we were there at all. Didn't listen to what we were ordering, got really annoyed when we had to ask for something a second time. However the real kicker and the reason we walked out, our 2 year old daughter accidentally knocked her giant cup of orange juice they gave her into her lap and spilled it on the floor and herself. When another customer kindly got up to let them know we had a mess and needed help our waiter looked at our daughter then the Orange juice and rolled his eyes and shook his head and went to get a mop. I am not just some parent who comes into a restaurant with out of control kids that are running around causing trouble. My kids have very good manners. And are very well behaved. So his reaction was very insulting to us. We took our business to Cocos instead! And I must say they're service and food was WAY better that Denny's! We even went back for dinner! read more

This particular Denny's is kinda dirty. I realize it is an older building but I don't think the staff are cleaning this restaurant to the level of standards that it should be. The food was fine but I was concerned with the cleanliness of the whole place. When I sat down, I observed a table filled with dirty dishes and food. No one attempted to clean it up for at-least 15-20 minutes. The seating and walls have obviously been neglected by any type of deep cleaning! HORRIBLE SERVICE! Not only did we wait over 20 minutes for our food but it was also cold!!!! Why would eggs be cold?! Even the country fried steak was cold. Its almost as if they made it two hours before and it was left under a heat lamp before we came. Scrambled eggs came out as over easy, another order bever eveb made it to the table, bacon was burnt and the omlette had ABSOLUTELY NO CHEESE!! WTF! I guess this place is okay if you're either really strapped for cash or you really like sub-par food. A simple breakfast order comes with average pancakes, low-grade eggs, and bacon that was 90% fat, 100% soggy and inedible. Service is terrible, they always act like they don't want to be there. My family and I went to denny's on 3/29/15 at 11:00am. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though the restaurant was half empty. We ordered right away as we were starving. After 45 minutes we finally got our food. Mine came out completely cold and I sent it back and got my money back. My son's order was wrong and my daughter's toast came out untoasted and with a blob of unmelted butter on it. My husband's grits were thick and dry. The meal was horrid which is surprising for Denny''s as we have never had such as horrid meal as this one. We were just passing though and we will never eat here again. Not impressed. I've been to many Denny's & some have fallen short of my expectations (I know my standards are low), but this one takes the cake. The people were friendly & nice, but that's where the compliments end. The corner booth they put my family & I in was not bad, but the smell of vomit was. I understand the place had lots of costumers, but the least you can do is clean off the table & make sure the area is clean - especially of awful odors (vomit). It was our bad for not saying anything, & being hungry & two cranky kids shouldn't be an excuse but we just wanted to get in and out. The dishes we ordered weren't all that great either. So no points for the food. The orange juice was very watered down. Over all our experience was not great. My recommendation would be weary of this Denny's. Most frustrating experience EVER! Ordered food, been 2 hours. Called in, talked to manager. Manager stated they don't deliver! EVEN THOUGH, I got charged a delivery fee and I kept telling him that! I wanted a refund, he argued and said no...call doordash. I stated I was charged by Denny's on Denny's website! I called door dash, they stated the manager was wrong and the Denny's store on freemont Street in Monterey California was supposed to refund my money. So now, I don't have food, or my money back and it's been 2 hours. 2 and a half hours later my food got delivered, they kept calling the driver and he wouldn't answer the phone. He had a smile when he came in, KNOWING he was 2+ hours late! It wasn't even picked up! I kept calling Denny's and they said it wasnt picked up. I am frustrated and honestly hate Denny's now with a passion because of this. The manager of the store was just so frustrating as well. Now, I have cold, disgusting food that was just delivered to me past 12pm and the receipt on the bag said delivery time was 10:20am which is a LIE!!!! After eating breakfast the day before at a local ma and pa "organic place" that had terrible service and marginal food I was SO pleasantly pleased at going to this Denny's the next day. I would give this place 0 stars out of 5 if I could. My cousin said that Denny's only had good breakfast meals and everything else tastes terrible, but I wanted to try it out for myself. As soon as I walked in, there was no one sitting around and the place had a strange smell to it. We were seated and I noticed that the seats weren't cleaned and had to move to a different table. The waiter was impolite, and the cups and utensils were dirty. My family ordered over $60 worth of food, and it was all bland and dry. The T-Bone steak was supposed to be a medium, but it was a microwave well-done. The country fried steak looked EXACTLY like a TV dinner meal, the omelette was very soggy and bland, and the beef skewer was too tough to chew. My niece had a chicken noodle soup, and threw up all of it within minutes. I'll be honest, this was one of the worst meals I had in my entire life in America. Me, my Grandpa, my Tio, and my Grandpa's friend came here about three weeks ago around 4 in the morning. We decided to go there since it was on the way to the fisherman's wharf in Monterey. The service was great! The waitress was very kind despite having to be there very early. The meals were reasonably priced and while my Tio and I split a Belgium waffle meal,( I getting the waffle) and my Grandpa and his friend getting coffee the total cost of the meal and our drinks of coffee and tea totaling out to about 10-11 dollar which is a great deal to me. One we leave the waitress and staff tell us good luck on our fishing trip for rockfish. Also the owner of the gas station across the street is very kind and remembered me from the first fishing trip I have ever taken in Monterey. It was damp and raining. I felt like a bowl of Denny's Chicken Noodle soup. I went in and the host threw some menu's down. I looked all through them and saw nothing for Seniors. They always used to have a menu on the back. I was about to leave and saw at the end of the table more menus and one that said Seniors. No half a sandwich and cup of soup was on the menu any more. If one didn't ask, you would have to order something that cost more. Trickery! Next, the waitress took my order for a bowl of soup. She quickly brought it and it was luck warm. I found her and made her reheat it. The waitress was uncaring and took no pride in her work. I left her a very small tip. Wow. I am blown away by the horrible customer service I received tonight. Mainly by my waiter Jason. First of all, when we arrived, there was one woman that greeted us and asked us for our drinks that was very nice and professional she was kind of tall I believed her name was Jen. Went to Monterey for a few days, our favorite place to visit. On our way out, we "settled" for breakfast at a nearby Denny's. What a mistake! First, the manager, Ed, who was at the front counter, seemed pissed at the world. Not a person who should be greeting guests. We were sat immediately, mainly because we were two and they had a two seater available. The first thing we noticed were people waiting, with plenty of tables open! I'm talking approx 6-10 tables! I also noticed quite a few tables with no food that had been there longer than us. Very bad service here. On top of that, the food was not up to par, even for Denny's. I'm not a huge fan but they're usually okay for that quick meal. I've ordered the Santa Fe Skillet quite a few times. I ordered it here and it was horrid!. This used to be a pretty good place called Margie's so it doesn't even look like a Denny's on the inside. Stay away. Spend a few dollars more for a good breakfast at Rosine's. read more

I have been going to this location for a few years now, and it's slowly gotten worse. My latest visit was a complete disappointment. After trying to flag our server down to place our order after a very long time, we ordered a rather large amount of food. The food arrived and was good, but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter did not ONCE come back to our table to ask us how our food was, simply REFILL OUR WATER CUPS, ask if we needed anything or anything else. After we finished our food, we were in no hurry so we stayed around and chatted, but we finally became impatient because we did want to receive our check at one point in time, which did not happen so we had to get up and go to the cashier to pay since we were so fed up. He then had to apologize on behalf for our terrible waiter, track down which table we were seated at, and properly give us our check so we could pay and get the heck out of there. As someone also working in the food industry for many years, I tend to be more understanding, but at the same time more critical of other restaurants but this was SUPER disappointing, and funny because compared to the other location further down Fremont, this one was substantially "better."
