The burger was quite a raw and the mozzarella sticks didn't seem fresh at all: similar to the kind you'd buy at a grocery store and heat up. No real stringiness there. But the waiter was really nice and did his best to be attentive so high props to them! The spaghetti was also good! read more

Wait 10 minutes. Ordered lumberjack slam, with orange juice. Ordered red white and blue pancakes with eggs and bacon. Drinks water with lemon and orange juice. Two people. Average price per person about $8-10. Meal was good had cream cheese on the side instead of pancakes would have been too sweet for me. Total for meal with side of fries $24.63. Food is underwhelming most times, food in general in Oneonta has decreased at an alarming rate. Maybe it is all the drunk college kids who are just ok with eating poorly prepared food, or lazy dishes.. But you can see that most cooks, restaurants in the area have just given up. Even the fast food ones just don't care anymore, aside from Mcdonalds where 9/10 times I get good looking food that isn't slopped into a bag. The staff was very accommodating​. We ordered shakes and appetizers at the bar. Even when our kids got a little demanding, the waitress was more than happy to help. It wasn't too dirty. I would give no stars if I could. I am a server in Elk River, and I have never seen worse service at a restaurant. Dennys has always had a place in my heart, but I will be not returning due to my last experience at the Otsego location. My friends and I were excited to enjoy some pancakes, but from the second we sat down, our service was awful. It took 15 minutes for our server to acknowledge us, and she seemed very careless. I decided to order food right away, and it took a while for it to come out. My chocolate milk tasted expired, and our nachos were left untouched because they were soggy. Our waitress never came back to check on us. We decided to leave, and paid for our food even though it never came to us. I was fine leaving, however when the waitress saw we were leaving, she sat next to us with her hands crossed and waited for us to pay. She said that we were unbelievable and proceeded to give us dirty looks. Then I asked to speak to a manager, Lori, and she was even worse. She explained to us that our service was great and didn't understand that we had somewhere to be. I asked to talk to her privately or separate from the server and she told me that wont be necessary. Oh Denny's. I opted for a 'build your own Hobbit slam'. I wanted sweet potato pecan pancakes, but they were out. I did get the honey cake french toast which was amazing. The honey cake french toast is dense and sweet like pound cake. They give you a relatively small piece, which is plenty, because it's super rich. All of my food was well prepared and tasty. Eggs were great, hashbrowns were good, fruit was good. I even opted for the mango lemonade which was surprisingly good, though very sweet. I even got the added benefit of listening to another customer loudly score coke over a bluetooth headset... so added entertainment value. read more

Worst place to eat in town. The staff is filthy, rude, and usually under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The manager is also horrible. I've heard the husband and wife owners yelling at each other in the kitchen at least twice. None of the cooks speak English, apparently (according to the waitstaff, this is why the food sucks). Horrible service. Witnessed our server argue with another table while we waited 25 minutes for our water and coffee. Then I decided to ask the manager for Waters and when our server saw that the manager brought us water she said" what did you guys do complain to the manager?" I haven't had Denny's in YEARS.....but let me tell you when I was there, I was a child which didn't know better. Being an adult I can tell how fake this food was. I have had better food. Meal didn't all arrive at once, had to keep waiting for the next part. I got the wobbly table and when I requested another one, I got that look that said I annoyed the waitress. She wasn't very friendly, and neither was the other guy waiting table. Blech. Three of us ordered lunch - various burgers with the $1 milkshake - and the best thing about the meal was the milkshake. I had the bacon Gouda burger which was smothered in cheese sauce to the point where I could barely pick up the burger - it was a mess. Taste not bad, but it was annoying trying to eat a burger that was falling apart in your hands. Restaurant owners allow their staff to smoke at the only entrance to the restaurant. This has happened twice when we have come and neither time did the employee put their cigarette out or leave the door way. This is not acceptable and I'm sure the Denny's Corporation would not like a Franchise owner to continue to allow this. If it happens again I will make a formal complaint to the Corporation and see how they handle it. read more

I few weeks ago I came in late around 9pm, there was no line, I Wait 10 minutes for a table, before leaving.

It's a dennys, I'm not expecting a 5 star restaurant, but I do expect for it to feel somewhat clean. There were constant amount of flies on our table and others, and it pretty sure I saw a flyswatter behind the counter which means that they know they have a problem and they should take care of it. Otherwise the food was fine and the service was good. They were very friendly and we did not have any trouble with them. Also don't bother with the coffee unless you're desperate, my dad was and he sat there constantly complaining with every sip. read more

Before the remodel I would have given this place 4 stars. My wife and I have eaten here for 18 years. We started dating as teenagers and this was our first date. In that period of time obviously there have been many changes. We have been regulars with several members of the wait staff which felt nice. To be honest I have gotten horrible service more than once but as a general rule those servers don't last long. The biggest problem in the past was inconsistency in the kitchen. Order a steak and it could be burned. Order a skillet and my wife's could be twice as big as mine. The front of the house ended up paying the price with the customers. Many of the servers we really liked left before the remodel was finished but not all. The new wait staff do a good job and the kitchen inconsistencies, to me anyway, seem to be in the past. The new decor is nice too. Plus the ugly carpet is gone. I plan on eating here for years to come. read more

Rude staff when we walked in with kids making the comment to not seat us in their section. Our waitress forgot our appetizer. Food was ice cold for the kids and Luke warm for adults. Fries had so much salt they were crunchy. When waitress was informed of this her response was yes probably. There was no offer to replace the food but a discount was given that didn't cover the cost of one meal. No manager came to the table. Cashier didn't care if problems either. Haven't been to Denny's in years...Didn't have one near us and other reasons.Not crazy about chains...Well I must say..the Grand Slam was delicious..Over easy eggs cooked perfectly..and the pancakes..WOW..Big and fluffy and so good..They must have changed the recipe over the years..NO really good...The beef veg soup was horrid though.Slimy and salty as hell...Waitress was fantastic..For 4 bucks..I will be back! read more

My husband and I came in for Veterans Day as we were told they got a free breakfast. Well to our surprise they stopped at 12 pm. PLEASE post this on your door as many veterans walked out. We did stay and I ordered a 55+ turkey club which was nothing more than a turkey sandwich, our server said that's because it's 55+ then state it as a sandwich. I stopped into this Dennys for dinner with my friend and her two children, we were sat down as soon as we came in, which was nice, but we were mistaken to think that the rest of the service would of been as good. Our drink orders were taken, and later our food orders. It was 730pm and they were already no longer serving soup, whatever, it happens I guess. I ordered the avocado chicken Caesar salad, my friend ordered the super bird and chicken tenders for the kids. We didn't get our food for 45 minutes AT LEAST and it really wasn't even that busy.. and during that whole time we weren't checked on once, I had finished my hot chocolate and my water, an even my friends kids had finished his drink as well, but no one seemed to notice our empty cups at the end of the table or our "I'm parched and hungry" faces. If you have seen the menu and the image of the avocado chicken Caesar salad, you'll see it's s full salad, with strips of grilled chicken, sprinkled bacon and slices of fresh avocado. What was set before me looked unrecognizable, that I even asked to see the menu again, and "is this the salad I ordered?" What I got was sparse lettuce scattered on a plate, with over cooked crumbled pieces of chicken. That's it. The dressing, since I ordered honey mustard, instead of the Caesar, was in a monkey dish, or rather, on the monkey dish, as it was all over the outside of the dish itself as if it had been dipped into a honey mustard tub heaven. As I was clearly unhappy with the salad before me I told the waiter, and I don't aim to sound like a you know what but dognabit I was hungry and had been waiting forever and a day for A SALAD, I told him I wanted them to remake it like the picture.. "Like the picture?" He asked in an uneasy voice. "Yes." (Note: still parched with no refill) not long after he returned WITH THE SAME SALAD, topped off with a ridiculous amount of cheese and bacon crumbles, and who I assume was the manager. She apologized for the lack of avocado, saying that their avocados weren't ripe yet, hard as rocks. But offered that I order something else. WHERE IS THE QUALITY CONTROL IF THE MANAGER HERSELF SETS BEFORE ME THIS AUDACITY?! It would of been nice had the waiter mentioned there were no avocados when I ordered a salad whose title has avocado right in it. The avocado isn't even a big deal, what is a big deal is that the salad was crap, and the manager served it. How can you serve something so bad, don't you want to be proud of what is put out? The salad was so misrepresented in their menu if that's what they are serving there. My friend tasted a piece of the chicken and said it was gross, I knew it was gross just looking as it, it it looked some ones leftovers seriously.. I told the waiter to take it back, I wasn't going to eat it. My friends super bird looked over cooked too, I could hear her biting into it like an echo, but she said it tasting "alright" the kids chicken tenders and fries were good, so I guess they're doing one thing right. The server seemed relieved that I didn't want to order anything else, no sympathy. When we got our bill the server informed us that the chicken salad was removed, how thoughtful of them. I don't like being a pill customer, I worked in a restaurant for 7 years, I understand it gets rough, I even usually over tip since I know how nice it feels to be appreciated. But this experience was crap, the food was.. well I didn't eat it, so THAT bad, the customer service sucked, and quality control was non-existent. I have to agree with the other reviewer. I've tried to go here several times, and the only time it was merely OK was a breakfast special. The rest of the times-- the food was over cooked, too salty, and just plain bad. Waiting to be seated is ridiculous when there were lots of empty places. Apparently some people expect five star quality from a chain. As for me, I enjoy eating here. Staff has always been friendly to me, never had a problem with service. There was one time when a waiter gave me the wrong check, but it was an honest mistake, and was easily fixed. When you eat at a chain restaurant, you have to expect that the food, while in my opinion not terrible, isn't going to be "gourmet". And before assuming that your server is some low life, waiters and waitresses deal with a lot of stress while doing their job, especially when they have to deal with rude customers. Remember, not everything that goes wrong, is your servers fault. read more
