Connie has always been serving us for years! this is our go-to Denny's. Love the service and the food!

When I arrived at the restaurant the hostess was sitting outside on a bench with her AirPods in. I don't believe she was on break because as soon as I arrived the cook came outside to talk with her and she got up and went inside. She asked me "Are you ordering to go?" which made me feel like they didn't want to service me. There were zero customers in the restaurant at this time as it's 4am. Thankfully I ordered ahead and was coming in to pick up my order. I asked if I could have a side of the vanilla cream icing while the hostess was packing the order. She told me that it was an extra charge for the icing and that she had no way to edit my order and add on the charge as the order was placed ahead online. I asked her if I could give her cash for the icing and she refused. I asked her if she could create a dine-in meal ticket with a side or drink or something and add-on the sauce as a charge and she refused, stating that I would need to re-order an entire dine-in meal just to get a side of the icing. She offered me no solutions to a simple situation. I was going to leave the team with a cash tip but in the end decided against it as I feel I experienced bad customer service. I have also worked in food service and have never refused anyone a side of sauce for an extra charge. I've dined in at this exact location plenty of times previously at this same exact hour and have never experienced such terrible service for something simple. Usually I dine-in with my boyfriend around 3am-4am here on days when he comes home from work late. When I dine in and ask for a side of the icing, the host or hostess has always given it to me and has never added it on an extra charge. I also did not receive a paper receipt with my order upon pickup. read more

Came to this Denny's in San Diego as a backup spot after we missed the 3pm breakfast cutoff at the place we originally planned, and honestly... we were pleasantly surprised. Denny's really does one thing consistently right and that's breakfast. My girlfriend was craving breakfast bad and the pancakes absolutely delivered. We tried the new Banana Caramel pancakes and the Cinnamon Roll pancakes and both hit the spot. Sweet, warm, and exactly the kind of comfort food you want when you're trying to cure a random afternoon breakfast craving. Those were easily the stars of the meal. On my end I got the Crispy Bacon Ranch sandwich and it was pretty decent. They definitely didn't skimp on the sauce which I appreciated, and it tasted better than I expected for a Dennys sandwich. I added a side salad too... it was fine, nothing to write home about. My girlfriend also grabbed a Super Slam to go with her pancakes, and between everything we left satisfied. The place was clean, which matters especially for a quick stop like this. Service was a little aloof, but that's kind of what you sign up for at Denny's. You're not coming here for a five star hospitality experience. Overall it got the job done. If you want a reliable breakfast fix, especially pancakes this spot will come through. 3 stars for the overall experience but those pancakes were a win. read more

I stopped in at the Denny's on Coronado Avenue late on a Saturday night after a concert, and I was really impressed with both the service and the food. We were seated quickly, and our server, Anis, was absolutely wonderful, so kind, attentive, and professional. My daughter had her heart set on a Cobb Salad that we found out that night was no longer on the menu, and it was the entire reason we drove there. Anis went above and beyond to have the kitchen recreate it, which we both truly appreciated. The salad came out great, and my chicken bites and fries were delicious too, fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked. It's not often you get that level of care and service at a late night stop, but Anis made the whole experience genuinely pleasant. Great service, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere, I'll definitely be back! I would also like to add that Elmer is amazing as well. Even though we didn't have him this night, Elmer has been our server many times before & he"s excellent with customer service. I didn't want to leave him out, he deserves a shout out too. read more

Was there w/my service dog, 5:30 a.m., very few patrons at tables. The host/server put us in a booth away from everyone else. Just came off of a 6 hr drive from AZ. Dog was a bit reluctant to crawl under the table which seemed to irritate the host. Settled in but server/host had moved on to other tables. I had no menu, no water for at least 5 mins. Finally ordered biscuits/sausage gravy + Sr omelette. Received biscuits 1st, lukewarm with barely any flavor except a weird aftertaste like soap. Omelette arrived shortly after, again with the odd aftertaste. The host/server was clearly in a hurry to close out his cash drawer, had to raise my voice to ask for to go containers. Got them, packed up, but no check was provided. Again, he was totally focused on cashing out. I stood up, food & dog in hand, stood next to the registers & host/server. He gruffly stated someone would check me out. Poor food, poor customer service, was made to feel unwelcome. I was too tired to take it up directly with a manager. No recommendation if this is the level of quality offered. Maybe the day, evening personnel + the food service would be more positive. I won't be back. read more

very disappointed that this Dennys has stop serving Smuckers jelly in the little packet. They now offer Heintz jelly - disgusting!! The strawberry Heintz jelly is brown - not red. the Heintz grape jelly is not as bad, but because no one wants the strawberry jelly they are always out of the grape and only have strawberry jelly left. awful!! I guess they are trying to save money - but honestly the Heintz strawberry jelly tastes like cooking oil. junk!! I want to enjoy my breakfast - not make ugly faces at the taste. After a break from here, the waffles are back but @ $21.00 (waffle slam) Didn't order because i can't imagine it being worth the cost. Old standby, the counrty fried steak & eggs. Ask for extra butter and warmed syrup, but alas...NOPE! Place still filthy, approaching gross. And it is pure dirty employees, dirty fingerprints all over appliances, skake prep area is dripping and oozing. read more

Absolutely horrible service. 1) they didn't welcome us in just took us to the table and sat us down. Without saying A SINGLE THING. 2) their was several employees just standing around talking. Again without acknowledging us. 3) the waitress that took us in has blonde hair and a very stank face. Just attitude. She was too busy counting her money and not at least saying she will be right with us. We sat for at least 10mins and we didn't even get to order a drink. Because the waitress was too busy counting her money. It was super empty as well. There was a family of four. My mom and I. And one other man. That's literally it. That's how bad it was. Most HORRIBLE experience. I ordered $80 of food and tipped pretty well for a pick up order. The order was set to be ready by 9:06 am so I sent my son who is 17 he arrived for curbside pick up and was never greeted or got a response. He got off the car and the food was not ready until after 9:30 am. I literally 2 min away and when he got home the food was cold and thrown together. The servings of the hashbrown (which are my kids favorite part of Dennys ) was less then 1/2 of a serving I even paid extra and ordered a double serving for my son and all they gave was a regular serving. I tried calling and was put on hold for 20 min and no one ever came back to the line. I called back several times and no one picked up at all. I even called the following day (Monday and there was no answer. Just extremely frustrating this place is not well managed. read more

On Wednesday January 7, my brothers were threatened by Vicky, who wasn't even our waitress, stating she would call the cops on my brothers for not paying, I had already paid the bill online by scanning the receipt, it says scan and go, she was unprofessional and said it at an unreasonable tone, for no reason when the bill was already paid, I went back inside and informed her it was already paid, and she didn't even apologize to my brothers, staff needs to be trained better to understand the system and basic manners, I've always gone to this Dennys but this incident is making me think twice. read more

Had a very bad experience for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. We waited an hour for our food but were being patient because the restaurant was busy. Until tables around us that arrived later received their food first. I asked the server about the status of our food and she said "yea it should have came out already". Once our food came out it was wrongly done and nothing came complete. My mom was missing her pancakes and I never got my hashbrowns. I reminded the server of my hashbrowns and asked for crispy but I received BURNT hashbrowns. I could tell the server was busy and hustling but she didn't offer to discount or comp any of our meals.
