Just left and was not a happy customer. We ordered a Diet Pepsi and Dr Pepper and they have the wrong drink to my diabetic husband. When I told the water his response was you didn't tell me. Why would I need to. Our order came out wrong. My son asked to substitute fruit for the hash browns. Then when the check came we got charged. When I went to pay I told him you charged me do the fruit he said yeah. I'm like that's why we asked to substitute. My elderly Mom's go-to for a breakfast or lunch. Monica and Jessica are always helpful and happy to see us. Requests to split meals or make changes are always accommodated happily. Was seated right when I walked through the door by the general manager so there was no wait. Robert, the server, was so nice and checked in a few times throughout the whole meal. I got the grand slam as I had a reward for it and also got a side of hash browns. The grand slam had eggs made of your choice, two bacons, two sausages and a stack of pancakes. The meal tasted good but did notice that it was a little bit oily. The pancakes were consistent as always as they were soft and fluffy. read more

Came here on a whim and was overall happy with the food and service. We were seated quickly, ordered quickly and our food came out lightening fast. I don't even know how the food was prepared that quickly considering we all ordered something different. Everyone enjoyed the flavor, though I felt the cheesy eggs tasted a bit artificial. The kids meals were a little smaller than what we'd get at IHOP, but also about $1.50 cheaper. The restaurant was clean and they give a 15% AARP discount compared to other places that only give 10%. That brought our bill down by $4, which my mom was happy about. Would come again. read more

1. Kitchen staff not wearing head coverings. No hats or hair nets. 2. Server, "Rodolfo R" likes to up-charge your order. $1.99 for a sprinkle of shredded cheese or your eggs. On an All American Slam, asks if you'd like toast, French Toast or pancakes? If you say French Toast, be prepared for a $3.69 up-charge. My guest didn't ask for cheese, but he got it anyways with an additional $1.99. Altogether, he got me for an additional $9.66 in up-charges without me knowing. I didn't make a federal case about it. I tipped ~13% of the inflated bill when I would've normally added 20%. So... my total bill with tax and 20% tip should've been $58.17. Instead, I tipped $7 on my $54.70 bill. With tax, that's $65.94. Maybe I shouldn't have tipped, but that's not fair to everyone involved behind the scenes. 3. My a$$ exploded and continued to explode for the next hour after getting home. 4. Rodolfo, if you're reading, I hope it was worth it. I won't be back, ever. read more

Disappointed that the advertised kids eat free meal wasn't honored. Told it was up to individual locations and I couldn't get it on Thursday only Sunday and Tuesday. Strange that I was just there the prior Friday. Also on my birthday I had to choose between my birthday bonus or the kids meal. came here with a friend recently, i had no issues because we got seated pretty fast (weekday late afternoon), but i had asked for a side of waffle. the waitress (i think her name is Monica) never asked me how many waffles i wanted. when we got the check, i was charged DOUBLE (a la carte) for 2 waffles. now, i only ate 1 of the 2 waffles that was brought out and i assumed it was a charge for the whole thing. so the same waitress helped us at the register and i brought it up seeing i got charged 2 times for a waffle. and she goes "im sorry i just assumed you wanted 2 because they're just so good." i didn't understand her properly because she was laughing in between but my friend heard her completely and told me after the fact. im really upset by this & i ended up just paying for the 2 waffles even though i only finished 1. probably wouldn't come to this location again because of that experience. read more

I didn't expect to have one of the best diner experiences of my life at Denny's -- but here we are. This San Diego location absolutely crushed it. First off, the food was exactly what you want from Denny's: hearty, hot, and ridiculously satisfying at 2 AM when you're making questionable life choices. I had the Moons Over My Hammy (a classic, no notes) and my friends all raved about their stacks of pancakes and hash browns that somehow tasted even better than usual. Coffee was flowing non-stop, and the refills came fast. But let's be honest -- the real MVP of the night was our waitress. She was a goth Latina baddie with winged eyeliner sharp enough to cut glass and the coolest vibe in the building. Black nails, chunky boots, silver jewelry -- the whole aesthetic was immaculate. Despite the late-night chaos, she was absolutely on point: super friendly, hilarious, and somehow kept the whole restaurant under control like it was nothing. She cracked jokes with us, roasted my friend for ordering a "sad little side salad," and made the whole experience feel less like a random diner run and more like a scene out of the best indie movie you've never seen. Total queen energy. Service was fast, food was great, and honestly, I'd come back just for her energy alone. Whoever hired her deserves a raise. We had the pleasure to dine at this Dennys location Friday 27/2025. This will be the place to go when we visit SD. The manager Rafael, was very kind and helpful to us. Its service like this that differentiates restaurant from restaurant. The food came out on time and prices are always good. That's not what sets places like these apart. It's the staff members that run the place that make the real difference. They greet you with respect, make you feel welcome, and do their best to assist you. I love the service. I will be coming here every night to do my work now. Thank you to Rafael for being so accommodating. He remembers my orders and where I like to be seated when I come in. I also heard the other night that the other customers were super satisfied with him. Please keep him in night shifts haha! He is super awesome! Other than that, I like how clean the inside is. My 85 year old parents may have gotten scammed by the management at this Denny's two days ago. They ordered an omelet and two coffees. Their server only checked on them once to see if they wanted a coffee refill. When they paid with their card at the register, they noticed a $14.99 tip was added without even asking them. However, my parents already left a cash tip at the table. They went back to the register to tell them that they didn't tell anyone to add that tip to the card. The person at the register gave them $14.99 cash back. We think they were trying to scam senior citizens, since maybe not everyone checks their receipts. Be careful. Waited so long for the food and when it came out the meat was so burnt it looked like plastic. I told the waitress I didn't want it and she proceeded to bring out a bit of meat to chastise me on what it was supposed to look like. I don't came to a diner to get a damn lecture. The white wine of the day was Chardonnay and the cocktail of the day was an agave spritz. Our server was kind enough to tell us that the burgers did not come with fries, just in case we felt like the portions weren't sufficient. Our server was quick with our drinks and refills. The food took a bit longer to come out. *Agave Spritz: a fragrant take on a spritz. I actually appreciated how it was not overly carbonated nor sugary. This was a refreshing pairing with all the fried items we ordered. *Pommes Frites: classically crispy and fluffy. Came with a choice of ketchup or aioli. *Croquettes: came with five airy and crispy balls on a pool of mornay sauce. The menu mentioned an aioli, but my order did not come with any. Thankfully, the balls were flavorful themselves. The mornay sauce was on the thicker side and there was some clumpiness, but it added pleasant creaminess. *Burger Parisienne: my preferred burger of the two offered. The bordelaise was done well, and the red wine added a complex sweetness to the burger. The patty was thick and the toppings made the overall flavor similar to an In-N-Out burger. *Burger Americaine: a classic American burger that resembled In-N-Out, but with a thicker patty. Good thing I enjoy both. The vegetables were fresh, but I would have liked a bit more of the special sauce. *Little Gems: a rather acidic and simple dressing. The little gems lettuce was cleaned well and was crispy. The radish offered some crunch and the herbs were fragrant. I would have cut the herbs a bit more though. This was quite a satisfying happy hour experience, although nothing was exceptional besides the croquettes. I would like to return to try their breakfast options, and Saint James does offer some interesting dishes that others do not. The pricing was fair for the quality we received.
