Came on 4/8/24 the day of the eclipse with my husband and two teens. They were skeptical but I wanted Denny's!! I just had a good feeling everyone was going to get what they wanted (picky teens) and be happy and we all were! The food was outstanding! We had burgers onion rings chicken tenders and a steak. Everything was perfect and this is our new family restaurant. So glad to have Dennys back! The chef that day killed it. I hope he gets some acknowledgement from management. I stopped by for breakfast. Parking spots are a bit tight at the front, but more parking available on either sides. I walked in behind 1 person. That person was greeted and walked over to a table. I waited a few seconds and the waiter came back. No greeting towards me and just said "this way." He literally tossed my menu on the table and it slid to the other end. I noticed, but didn't make a big fuss so I sat. I said thank you and he walked away without any acknowledgment. Anyway, while scanning the menu, he walks back and just says "coffee?" With an annoyed tone. I say yes and again say thank you. No response. He walks away to grab the coffee carafe and a bowl of half and half. I would've preferred French vanilla, but he scuttled away too quickly for me to tell me. Again, I just go with it. It's too early in the morning to make a fuss and I need caffeine. Coffee was sh** and gross, but it's kind of what's expected for diner coffee. He finally comes back to take my order. There's additional costs for things like avocado, jalapeño, etc. So when I said I wanted the Denver omelette, he said "with avocado?" I declined. Potatoes instead of hashbrowns, he said "with veggies?" It sounded good atm, so I said yes. Luckily I paid attention to his little trick. Be mindful of that because he says it so quick you don't notice. Anyway, meal comes out about 10 mins later. It doesn't look appealing, but I'm thinking maybe it tastes better than it looks. Nope. The potatoes are almost rubbery - definitely frozen and microwaved. Veggies were a frozen bell pepper mix that was mushy. The omelette was bland and cheese was sliced Kraft. White toast slices were burnt. Just a sh** meal altogether. I barely got two bites in before Mr Waiter comes by and puts the check on the table. "Let me know if you need anything else" he said while walking away. I don't know what I did to offend, inconvenience, or annoy him, but WTF was his problem?! While eating, I noticed he greeted others who came after me. Offered them coffee nicely and if they wanted French vanilla or plain creamer on the side. Completely opposite to my experience. I finished what I could on my plate and went to pay my bill. Mr Waiter rings me up then walks away. Someone comes behind me to pay as well and we're waiting. The receipt prints and idk if I'm supposed to grab it, or wait for him? He walked away to go talk to the kitchen cook. I grab the receipt and he just looks over then back to his conversation. So to the bald waiter named Rodolfo, I hope you have the day you deserve and you step on gum on hot concrete, track it into your car and it's hard to remove. Can't be biased in customer service, but seems to be the new way of things. It wasn't even busy. This Denny's by far is the worst dennys I have ever been to in the county of San Diego. From the time I walked in to the time I walked out. I almost don't even care to pay for my food. I should have went with my first instinct and left right away. When we walked in at 11:30am it was not packed at all but still no one was at the counter, no one greeted us or said "be right with you" they just looked. Then we got seated. It took about 8 mins before they asked us what we would like to drink. We then asked for the special menu as their window is advertising things that aren't in the regular menu.. once we got the menu he took another 22 mins to come and take our order.. ok the order was then placed.. he comes back 10 mins later and says there were no biscuits so we needed to make changes.. ok we made the changes.. eventually got our food... my eggs had hair in them. I let it go I just didn't eat that portion... we asked for plastic silverware and he acted as if it was odd.. he took the real silverware and walked off doing other things for about 3 mins then brought the plastic after our food had sat..... after the food was gone he finally came back and asked if we needed anything else. My daughter and husband needed refills a LONG time ago so they asked for a refill... he went back to the kitchen and again did other things including refilling others drinks... so they finally got their drinks along with the tab. He definitely will not be getting a tip and I most definitely will not be returning to this location EVER again. I don't know his name bc he didn't have a name tag but was the only Hispanic bald guy working in there. This was the worst food / customer service I have ever had. If I wasn't 7 months pregnant and already frustrated I would have made a formal complaint but at this point I just want to go home and get back in my bed and try my day again!!! I rate it a -2/10 yes NEGATIVE 2 oh I don't even mention the ants crawling around in the ledge of the window of the booth we sat in. I got a French toast slam and it hit the spot. The sausage was yummy and the sunny side up eggs were made perfectly. Our server Monica was the absolute best! She was so patient with us and very caring towards us. She always checked in on us and made sure we were doing okay. I would definitely come back here if I'm craving Denny's. read more

I have been a customer of Denny's forever and everything about the restaurant is always good: food, service--everything. Today, however, there was one problem. The lack of internet service. Who, in this day and age, doesn't have internet access? I was supposed to meet a friend at, I thought, 11:30 am. I arrived, but she didn't show up. I texted her, but she didn't answer, and I thought I had the wrong phone number. I tried to check it through email but THERE WAS NO INTERNET SERVICE. I couldn't access my email to check her number and my texts weren't going through. Friend eventually showed up--I had mistaken the time--but what frustration! My complaint in no way reflects on the service of the staff. They are always great.
