I have lost alot of hope in Denny's establishment but I have to say this location is good! I was immediately acknowledged. They were busy but I was offered a seat rather quickly. Then I was waited on by Peggy. She is such a delight. She was probably one of the most pleasant servers I ever had. She even cracked a joke and it just simply put a smile on my face. She's very hard working. I observed her in between orders checking tables, asking if any of her customers needed anything else let her know. And even when she was busy a manager came over to help. I needed napkins or water the staff was very observant. The food was really good. Never short of coffee. They gave a small pot on the table for me to refill I loved that. Realistically I may have come at a good time but I have to say if they keep up this type of service it serves that they will always be busy!. Please take care of Peggy! I was horrified when my sister-in-law saw an insect (gnat) inside her pancakes! The waiter was really nonchalant when I told him. I visit Denny's each year on my birthday for my free Grand Slam. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and fresh. Bacon was crispy and savory. Sausage had mostly savory flavor with a hint of sweetness. Service was good. This is a solid place to get a value meal. Better than a buffet and I don't have to cleanup afterwards. I also tried the banana split. Ice cream had rich strawberry and vanilla flavor. Tasted like Thrifty's. Very fancy with whipped cream, peanuts, caramel, and strawberry toppings. read more

We were in the San Diego area for a very early appointment and this Denny's is open 24 hours, so we decided to give it a try for breakfast. As soon as we opened the front door to the restaurant, we felt that we made the right decision to stop by at this Denny's! Pegg, the manager, greeted us with a big smile and a cheerful hello. The restaurant is spacious and appears to be very clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food portions seem to be extremely generous and the food is very tasty. The coffee is good AND hot and conveniently provided in a carafe on our table which is a BIG plus so we avoid having to ask for more coffee every few minutes. We enjoy the convenience of having unlimited, piping hot coffee at our fingertips. Pegg R. runs a "tight ship" as manager, and she is the best of the best as far as managers go. Patrons are sure to feel very well taken care of when under Pegg's jurisdiction! Saul A. impressed us with his prompt attention and service. He made sure that we had the parts of our order delivered accurately to our table, like clockwork, in the shortest period of time possible. Their eggs and hash browns are yummy. Their toast, which I usually have nothing special to say about, is something special to talk about! The bread is better than most and very tasty! The entire breakfast experience was more special than we expected; and we decided to return here on a regular basis for breakfast during any early morning appointments we have in San Diego from now on! I usually do not think of Denny's as a top-rated place to eat; however, this Denny's at 6908 Miramar Road in San Diego is a special place to look forward to go to for an exceptionally great experience. It took a while for me to write a review for this review for the Denny's located on Miramar Rd. I placed an online order for the family breakfast deal for a lumberjack meal for $32.99. This includes 8 buttermilk pancakes, 8 scrambled eggs, 4 bacon strips, 4 sausage links, 4 grilled ham slices, hashbrowns, and white toast. I must say everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. I really liked the fact that this could feed 4 or 5 people. Needless to say, I had alot of leftovers to have for breakfast the next few days. I would recommend this deal if you have a big family or just be like me and save some for later. Good food but unbelievably rude customer service. Ordered online, I bought dinner and since its Christmas and grocery stores were closed, decided to get eggs and bread here. First the Mexican man who attended to me, gave me 4 slices of bread towards the loaf for which I paid $2.50 for, it seemed odd but I just took my food and walked back to my car. Right before driving back, I decided to check my online receipt and noticed my receipt said, 'Loaf' of bread for $2.50 and so I walked back in to check in with the same attendant and politely tried to get his attention twice, he could have just acknowledged and asked me to wait but he decides to fucking yell at me saying, I'll be 2nd. Dude fuck you. You could acknowledged my presence and I would have gladly waited but you instead make it sound like you are doing me a fucking favor. He attended to the the customer in front of me while I patiently waited, agreed the whole interaction was less than 5 minutes but the whole rudeness was uncalled for. I then proceeded to show my receipt saying, that its a LOAF of bread (receipt screenshot attached) and he mumbles back (so cheap, soooo cheap for $2) sounding upset for some reason as though I put that on your app for $2.50. Agreed it was cheap BUT I am not to be blamed for your bread being cheap, take it off your app as simple as that or talk to the owner or whoever, why give your customer grief for no godamn reason. First time at this location although I've lived in UTC for over 9 years and pretty sure, never returning. read more

This rating is purely for the service. Because this restaurant is zero vegetarian friendly for savory food. They literally have no vegetarian options for dinner or lunch. I don't have high expectations when going to a Denny's but there are certain things you do expect from any restaurant. This location has plenty of parking and inside is very clean and appealing. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and taken to a seat. The person asked what I wanted to drink and told me my server would be right with me. Like others, I'm a fan of the Super Bird sandwich, a grilled sandwich with turkey, cheese and bacon. Every so often I get a craving for this and Denny's satisfies that craving. It comes with fries but now you can substitute a bowl of fresh fruit for the fries at no extra charge. I didn't have to wait long before my sandwich was brought out and it tasted just like any other time I've had this same sandwich. The cheese was melted perfectly and the bread was grilled perfectly. And surprisingly, the side bowl of fruit was fresh, very tasty fruit (bananas, grapes, berries). My complaint is my server (Nasrin). Although there were only four other tables, you would have thought the place was packed based upon her performance. She would pass by and see my drink was empty (iced tea) and tell me she was getting another one only for her to pass by minutes later and tell me she was still going to get me a refill. And this went on and on throughout my meal here. Again, I would completely understand if the restaurant was full, but there were only a few tables and there were other servers. To make it worse, she was just standing in the kitchen talking to other employees. My table had a clear view of the kitchen and she was standing there talking away. One of the other servers kept looking back and saw me looking at them because I had finished my meal and wanted to go, but they did nothing. The busboy had already cleared my table and I just sat there for another 10 minutes waiting for her to come out and give my bill so I could leave. As I said, I don't have high expectations when eating at a Denny's but that mainly pertains to the food, not the service. I've worked as a server back in my earlier days and know how my tips are a direct reflection upon my service, so I hope Nasrin understood why I gave such a low tip. I'll surely go back to Denny's at some point but probably not this particular one. read more

It's a life saver having a Denny's this close to all the breweries. After a night or brewery hopping at 4 breweries, I was craving a 10pm breakfast. As soon as I saw Denny's on Miramar road heading back home, it was a no-brainer. This particular Denny's was a life saver when I was in college because there's nothing like a cheap breakfast at 2am. The service is always good here and I hardly ever have to wait too long for my food. Denny's in general is definitely a place where you get more bang for your buck. This Denny's will soon be my endgame when I get lit off the breweries. I really have nothing bad to say about this location. I figured I'd try to beat the crowds by going at 11am, but it seems that everybody else had the same idea. The wait was just under an hour and actually wasn't that bad at all, and I was glad to finally hunker down for some noontime comfort food. I ordered the Grand Slam breakfast [of course] as well as a side of hash browns and one of their special flavored soda creations. I still think their breakfasts are better in the middle of the night, but you really can't beat a hot and fresh Grand Slam of eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes anytime, especially when it's free! The Pineapple Dream fizzy soda was pretty good too, and was extremely refreshing after waiting for our seat in the hot, winter, California sun. [rant]While the promotion itself drew in many new potential customers, it also attracted a lot of cheap diners from out of the woodwork. I could hear people all around our table ordering only the special and generally not tipping since they thought their meal was totally free. On an internet deal message board, one user even asked how he could tip 10% on $0.00 for his meal, irritating me to no end. Even in an economy like our current situation, people were not only being cheap, they were being downright inconsiderate. The promotion was a great success, but those rude diners were full of fail.[/rant] Denny's is still the late night, go-to place after a night of boozing, and I can assure you that I will definitely be dropping in to combat my hangover [and getting fat] in the future. After a great night, I was in need of a great breakfast. I woke up earlier than everyone else, and made the short drive to this Denny's location. When I got here, everyone was having breakfast in celebration of Father's Day. In spite of it being busy, I was able to get seating quickly. I was right by the flat panel TV, where I was able to watch the World Cup game at the time. I ordered their 9-grain pancake breakfast dish. The food was delicious, with the pancakes being the highlight. I'm glad that Denny's now has this options, a counterpart to Ihop's harvest pancakes. In my opinion, Denny's 9-grain pancakes steals the spotlight. After enjoying a great breakfast and the World Cup game, I got the check and made my way back to the hotel. We came here last night after my friend had a case of the late night munchies. Normally, Denny's is the last place that either of us consider going to, but as it had been a while since either of us had been here, off we went. The interior looks like it's been remodeled - this Denny's location is much nicer than the one closer to my place, that's for sure. While the food is your typical diner fare (quick and filling), we also ordered one of their newest items - the pancake puppies. They're pancakes cooked like hush puppies or donut holes, but these were delicious! Not just that, at $1.99, the price was just right. Also, something to be aware of - usually, this Denny's is also a late-night hangout for UCSD students (due to the free wi-fi and proximity to the college). I really love Denny's overall and I'm hopeful that my experience at this Denny's was just an off night. It's a great middle ground for my best friend and me between Mira Mesa and La Jolla so I'm willing to give it another try but my first visit here wasn't quite up to par. My go to Denny's meal is the Super Bird with the bacon on the side (so I can bring it home to my dogs since I don't eat pork) and an upgraded side of seasoned fries with ranch. My issue this time was that my fries were overcooked. They were too crispy and lost the fluffy inside texture. The sandwich itself, thankfully, was the same old Super Bird that I know and love. The turkey, cheese and tomato melt together perfectly and my secret is to add a little ranch to the sandwich or dip the sandwich in the ranch. I live by the philosophy that ranch makes everything better and Denny's ranch is one of my favorites! Crossing my fingers that the fries will be cooked better on my next visit as they're definitely one of my favorite things here. read more

Wonderful experience. Had a quick lunch at Denny. I went out 10 minutes to do something and came back. What's amazing is that Brigitte and Mir prepared my food and kept it warm inside. When I got back, they delivered the food. I noticed that Brigitte also changed my soda to a fresh one while I came back. It was the best service I ever had in Denny's.
