This eatery is closeby but most of my time is spent in front of the computer at work. Doing my best as I come in 5 days a week. No hybrid remote for this worker bee. However, at least 2 days of the week, my boss is not in the office so I have an opportunity to go out for lunch either on a Monday or Friday. I don't usually do it. The opportunity to visit Lone Pine Eatery was for a breakfast. I had run some errands and needed something to eat knowing I had nothing at my desk drawer or work fridge. I stopped by to get the Avocado toast with a side of bacon. The prices with inflation is now high so I wasn't expecting a cheap breakfast. The order went smooth, the toast was great, although I am not a fan of lots of green leaves on top of my toast, I prefer more avocado less arugula. It was good and satisfied without being too filling. Mainly it's a nice alternative and place to get a sandwich, coffee and other quick meals. The spot used to be different until it was probably closed because of the pandemic. I don't even remember the name of the other place but I probably reviewed it.

Car had issues and forgot my lunch today. Co worker pointed out that this place "Lone Pine Eatery" was near by. Looked it up and saw it was near. Walked over and was surprised on how nice this place is. Indoor and outdoor seating. A good menu with great prices and friendly staff. Not to many pictures online, but I got the Turkey sando and it was delicious. Looks like they have added some happy hour hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and online ordering is now available. Definitely will be going back to try everything on the menu.

Ancient grains bowl with chicken. Lettuce, quinoa, lentils, cucumber, feta, olives, and a tasty dressing.

We ordered the Castille tuna sandwich and WOW was that the most delicious tuna sandwich I've ever tried! I substituted the sauce with pesto due to food allergies and that pesto sauce was GOLD! I appreciate the hassle free substitutions at no extra cost. They had their doors open, so we enjoyed the San Diego sun while eating our Castille. Ike's rewards program is excellent and generous, so what made this Ike's meal even better was the $3 coupon I redeemed from my rewards. Every city where I can enjoy an Ike's sandwich, I aim to stop in, because needless to say, this is my fav sandwich shop, especially because of the tasty complimentary caramel apple pop that is nostalgic of my childhood and teen years. I also love looking at the celeb photos with Ike at every sandwich shop!

I prefer boneless so I got the chicken…read moretenders, and the meat quality was great (I hate tendon-y weird bits which is why I avoid dark meat) and it was the most moist chicken tender ever too. And somehow so hot that it nearly burned my mouth (this is a good thing, as so many fried chicken places bring out lukewarm chicken). This place clearly fries to order (it does take a bit longer to get your order because of it, but it's absolutely worth it). And the size - these are the biggest chicken tenders ever! My husband and I could barely finish 8 pieces together, and he eats a lot. The generous serving size makes this place the best deal in town, in addition to being the best quality and best tasting. We got the Gold King which was the perfect sweet-garlic-soy flavor, and the spicy chicken (can't remember what it's called but it's one of the "basic" non sauces options). The spicy wasn't that spicy (and I can't handle very much spice at all) so some people might not think it's spicy enough. Definitely flavor over heat. The batter is so light and crispy, great texture. You can't get the special flavors when you order a 4 count unfortunately, you have to choose between "plain" fried chicken or spicy, but then they give you a free sauce to go with it (but the sauces are different than the special flavors that are available for the larger count options). I wish I could get any flavor in the 4-count orders. Service: Everyone is SO NICE here! Super friendly, and when they found out we wanted to watch the basketball game, the manager logged into his own personal Amazon prime account to stream the game for us (and brought out cheese balls for us too!) This is our new favorite fried chicken place. Well done all around!

However, you are to self-serve your own drinks, napkins, and gloves by the soda machine. The food took a while but the workers were nice. The menu was a little bit confusing too since depending on your chosen flavor, the amount of wings you could order would differ (some flavors were 6 count but not others). The food was okay. The items came out fresh. However, in our opinion, there was way too much bburing (cheese powder) on the fries, that it made the fries soggy despite being hot and fresh. The bburing was a bit overwhelming flavor wise too. I usually like a lot of seasoning powder too, but this was too much. There were a few spoons of cheese powder at the bottom as leftovers from being sprinkled over top the fries. The chicken was crispy and the flavor was good, but it was too much breading for my liking (the breading was thick). Inside, they played K-pop music and music videos on the big screen. Songs would repeat a few times. I think I heard Cookie by New Jeans like 4 times.

Despite the restaurant being covered by one server, he provided excellent service. The food took a bit longer to come out while the drinks arrived swiftly. *Berry Bramble: a well balanced sweet and tart cocktail with a classic bright and citrusy profile. *London Fog: similarly sweet with a strong strawberry lemonade profile. It had the most majestic presentation, with our server placing a fog filled bubble at the table. *Hot Honey Chicken Scone: there was a subtle spice with a heavy honey coating. The scone was rather dense but had a delicious buttery and cheesy flavor. Our server rightfully described the portion size as being on the smaller side, so I would order two if choosing this as an entree. *Fish & Chips: came with a single piece of fried fish, French fries, mushy peas, and a variety of condiments. I wished it were a bigger portion given the nearly $29 price tag. The fried fish had a sweet, light batter. The fries were rather starchy and needed a longer fry for a better crisp. The mushy peas were surprisingly well seasoned and paired nicely with the mild fish. The curry ketchup and chutney were rich and perfect condiments. The pearl onions were rather dense and difficult to eat. *Sticky Toffee and Date Cake: a stellar, indulgent dessert. The salted caramel ice cream offset the sweetness of the cake. The cake had a fudgy texture and the smothering of toffee gave it a sweet smokiness. Despite coming during happy hour, I found the prices to be a bit steep for the portion sizes. However, the flavors were tasty across the board, so I could see returning for a more celebratory occasion.

Some individuals in our group ordered the short rib benny, which came with a hash brown that reminded me of the ones from McDonald's. The plating also felt really bare and underwhelming. A side salad could've been added to make it seem more worth the $22. I ordered the English dip and it had a better presentation and was filling, but overall it wasn't anything memorable, however the cost was more justified at $21. As mentioned earlier, we were here to celebrate some birthdays. We did bring a small cake to share and were ultimately charged a cake fee of $32. That pretty much soured the experience especially since it was never disclosed to us beforehand that we should expect a fee. We just felt this surprise charge could've been communicated upfront and then it probably wouldn't have ruined our overall experience. For most of us, we probably won't be coming back again.

Cliff Hanger Cafe provided all of that. While not necessarily quiet due to the large crowds that gather to say OMG I'd never do something like that, that's crazy, as they watch paragliders soar along the cliffs and those waiting for their tandems. But come early enough, on a weekday, with meh weather? Still better than sitting in an office~! The food was less expensive than I thought it would be - reasonable actually for something that is pulled from a cooler and tossed onto a grill with little effort behind the makeshift kitchen. Orders are a bit hard to hear, but damnit - why did it have to be okay tasting?! I thought for sure it would be the worst - but a solid three out of five. Will I be back? Yep. Order food? Yep. Coffee? Nope. We could still use some work there.

While enjoying a beverage and sandwich, we were able to watch gliders starting/stopping and of course gliding. Amazing to see how it is done and the view from the cliff is poetic. Not to mention you are right next to Torrey Pines (WHAT). La Jolla in the distance, the vast ocean, a meal and watching gliders start and land, yep a very fulfilling morning! Only downside, port-a-potty's! But I would do it again for the experience!

There are tipping options even though you're ordering and picking everything up yourself and even throwing away your own trash. The tipping culture is getting insane. I did have to ask the cook behind the counter what they recommended and to clarify a few menu items. I ordered the: *Triple Hashbrown Special Egglet: you can add extras, like bacon for $3.50 or ham for $2.00. I added ham, and the total came out to $16.15, which honestly feels high for what is basically a fast, casual breakfast spot. The eggs could've used more seasoning, there was no salt or pepper available at the counter, and the toast wasn't very crispy. The ham was nothing special, but the portion was large and could easily be split between two people. They do give a sauce to go with it, but it would've been nice to get two instead of one. *Cold Brew: it's decent, and you can add brown sugar for $0.75. Mine came out way too sweet, but they did give me extra cold brew to balance it out. Food came out in under five minutes. They have a self-serve station for condiments, napkins, and utensils. Staff were kind, and the place was very clean. Overall, service and speed were great, but walking out spending about $25 for a breakfast sandwich and coffee feels steep, even for California.
