I came to Denny's today, and trust me when I say you do not want to come here. Our food was cold, and the salad was a little rotten. Sure they brought us our food fresh after 45 minutes, but it took about a good 30 minutes to reorder. They brought the salad and did not have half of the ingredients it offered. Worst Denny's I've been to.restroom are a mess and short on staff. Tables and floors are messy, short on chicken /food. Replaced chicken with grill chicken because there short. Do not recommend. No blame because its in the border with mexico but they need to keep this place up. read more

So I went around 3 am so idk what to expect but as I got there it took them 3 mins I was waiting to be seated. I ordered a coffee and water and even that took a bit long. The big problem was that the sausage was cold as well a the bacon and my French toast. As if things couldn't get worse, there was still uncooked egg whites on my eggs which really disappointed me. Also the waiter don't even bother to check up on me didn't visit back my table once and there was only 2 other customers so staff wasn't Bussy. The whole time I was there the waiter all she talked about her not having her cigarettes, as she served my food she let me know she was going to smoke a cig outside, I honestly don't care like just do your job though. read more

The entire restaurant was 55 degrees at 7am. It cooled down to 53 within 15 minutes. Even the servers were wearing sweaters and jackets. I don't know if they were saving on their electricity bill but their coffee was also lukewarm. We had to repeatedly ask for coffee refills and they were not busy - only 3 tables were occupied. When I told the server that they might want to check the coffee Warner component is received a dismissive look. The coffee tasted old and we were still charged 2.89 per cup. read more

I've hit this place a few times when visiting San Diego. It's about 10 minutes from the U.S.-Mexico border and like many businesses in San Ysidro, serves visitors from both nations. In most respects a Denny's is a Denny's is a Denny's...but this one is pretty good and good enough to have drawn me back four or five times over the years. The menu is the same as most Denny's, with the prices seeming to be slightly less (and much less than you'll pay for meals in most places in the San Diego area). Service is pretty quick and the wait staff are friendly. That's probably the thing that brings me back. While it is a chain, the place has a definite family owned vibe. It's a good stop if you're wrapping up a long drive to the city, getting ready for a long one from it or, if you're part of the late night in Mexico scene, seems like it would be a good place to recharge yourself with non-alcoholic drinks and carbs. There are better places in San Diego and are missing out if you skip the Gas Lamp district or breakfast at the Del...but for what it is, the Denny's in San Ysidro is pretty good. read more

No stars because the service was not good. It was midnight on a Saturday and there was one server. They should've been more prepared. I mean that's usually the busiest time for breakfast restaurants. Ihop is just as close I would recommend going there. read more

I was staying at the motel 6 right next door to this Denny's because I wanted to try that bacon sundae that I seen on tv mainly because it sounded different and wanted to try it. Anyway I seated at the restaurant the menu I go had dried stuff on and was gross to touch. Then I waiter came was nice I ask him for the bacon sundae and what I got when he brought was nothing like what the picture or the description said it should be. They said it suppose to maple and bacon at the bottom ice cream and maple and bacon again ice cream and then topped with bacon. What I got was bacon on top and the rest was melted ice cream with maple mixed and the only bacon I got was the topping on top of this mess of a sundae. When brought to the waiters attention his only suggestion was that he could bring me a side of bacon which defeats the purpose and the layering and tincturing of the sundae. I left without tipping. I tried to go in here one more time during my stay at the motel 6 and I walk in and see a waitress with her hand scratching her nose and when I brought it to her attention she said I washed my hands. Yet this was when I walked in waiting to be seated. So she had not washed her hands at this point. Gross! That is why I have given it two out of five stars. read more

I live in the area and have gone to this Dennys a few times; morning,noon and evening just hoping that their customer service has improved but sadly this location and the lousy food and service is still the same. They need to concider hiring some of the excellent staff from the other nearby dennys in IB,CHULA VISTA also this San Ysidro location needs a Restaurant makeover it is very dusty and dreary. read more

This was the worse breakfast ever! Potatoes burnt, and cold scrambled eggs. But in fairness, it was a Sunday morning, and Denny's was crowded with people waiting to be seated. I'd imagine the cook was having a difficult time keeping up with the orders. But, I'll never eat at this Denny's again. read more

Walked in this place with my family and turned right around. There was a horrific smell as soon as we walked in the door.

We waited a lifetime but there was only 2 employees working the shift and they did everything the could to give us the best service. I think they should hire more people because they're losing customers and giving the place a bad rating when the employees are working their asses off. read more

Absolutely horrible service. Waited 10 mins before even asked if we wanted drinks by our server Gaby. Another 30 minutes for food. Finally we asked another waitress if our food was on its way. With a clueless look she said to pardon the wait because there was only one cook for the resturant and people "came out of nowhere" and it got busy. We watched as other visitors got their food before we even got drinks. Seeing as I was dissatisfied with the service, when I settled the bill, I chose not to tip. The second waitress who rung me up gave a fowl look and proceeded to slide my card and slam my receipt on the counter. Last I checked, people tip because they received GREAT service. Not simply because you brought food to our table half an hour later. I love dennys and have always had good experiences. This however has made me more cautious about visiting other establishments. Or at least taking a second to read reviews. Won't be returning to this particular dennys ever again. read more

I used to go to Denny's in this location when i used to have the discount card. Anyway, the only people who stood out to me with great customer service were four people, a male waiter who was tall, thin, and balding, another waiter named Edwin (who is awesome) a female waiter who is older, she is Mexican, and Asian man who i believe is one of the managers. There are younger waitresses who have friends go into the restaurant so they never come back to check on you, i have always had to get up and walk to the back room to ask for assistance because they are too busy talking to their friends. There is a manager who is incredibly rude and unprofessional, she is a taller overweight women (i think she is also a manager) i walked in and was told to seat myself, i was handed a dirty, wet, smelly, menu and i asked for another one because it was too gross. I ordered chicken strips with green beans and ended up getting food poisoning from the green beans. It was miserable. when i spoke to the lady about the food poisoning she just said it must have been something else. she made me feel as though she was calling me a liar. On another occasion I came in and asked for a discount card that Dennys offers to the employees from the outlets and the same female manager refused to give me one because they were supposedly handed out to my store, for the record no one from my store ever received one after that. (We used to host our annual Christmas breakfast there) I gave this Dennys a 3 out of 4 because even though i had so many bad experiences i also had some good experiences. which was usually when i was assisted by the people in the beginning of my statements. read more
