This location can be either wonderful or terrible depending on when you go. I have gone here and had fantastic service and AMAZING food. The Salted caramel Banana pancakes are phenomenal. I have had them on 2 seperate occasions. The first time they were cooked perfectly and were the most delicious pancakes I have ever had. The second time there were chunks of unmixed pancake batter in the pancakes and they completely left out the caramel, also they were overcooked. My boyfriend and I usually go late at night, and we usually have Shawn as our waitress. She always makes the experience pleasant for us and is super friendly and attentive. I usually swap out the cream cheese frosting that comes with the cinnamon roll pancakes and she always remembers, even without me having to ask. Despite the location's negative reviews, we've never had any issues at all. Service has always been fast, food is perfect, and the location is clean. We'll keep going back! read more

The servers were good so no complaint there. The food, unfortunately, not so good. I ordered the chicken Mediterranean which is usually spot on; however, not sure what happened this time. The chicken was completely raw on the inside. I'm pretty sure I could've gotten sick had I not immediately noticed. I ordered something else but by that time my appetite was gone. Unfortunately, I won't be going back to this location. I did get a 15% discount however and they didn't charge me the higher price for the replacement meal. The waitress stormed over and said, "I'm going as fast as I can." I was with my 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter. This family friendly spot has great breakfast foods with great pancakes! Only problem is that they can't cook eggs. I asked for over hard eggs and received over easy, as they brought me a new plate of eggs the yolks were still runny. I'm typing this as I sit in the bathroom having pooped and discovered the stall to be sans toilet paper...or seat covers. So do i text my wife and have her notify someone that her husband is stuck in a bathroom stall unable to wipe his ass, sneak out and walk funny to see if there is paper towel at least, or sacrifice a pair of socks for a clean butt hole? Well I like my socks, I don't want to risk getting poop everywhere trying to walk around, so I texted my wife and someone brought some toilet paper in after a couple minutes. That's why it isn't a one star rating. The lady that sat us got pissy when I asked to switch to a booth. Our waitress took our drink order, but then took about 12 minutes to bring them to us and take our order. Food was out promptly so it should be 3 stars, however my eggs were over hard so back to 2 stars. Waitress took forever to check back on us and get us a few refills. I mean, honestly it's Dennys. It is what it is and they are seldom great, but I've had better service at other ones. We got there at 11:10. After 20 minutes they finally took our DRINK order. It took an HOUR for us to get a water. I approached the "manager" to complain and he said he'd take care of it. Well, 12:35 came, no food. I told the "manager" I'd brought it to his attention 25 minutes ago and we were told to leave because we were causing a scene. (After he childishly yelled that it wasn't that long and that our food was up for 20 minutes. Not sure what that means??) It's Denny's, how long does it take to scramble some eggs?! To say the service sucks is an understatement. As we reached the door they said if we didn't go outside they were going to call the police. It was a torrential downpour and I have an infant. The waitress also said she was going to get our license plate number. For what, I'm not sure, but it felt threatening. So, I have a hangry and wet family and heading home to make my own breakfast...at 1pm? If you want to be verbally accosted and treated horribly we highly recommend. Otherwise, we suggest heading to the otherside of town and eating at Big Boy or J&S. They have great food and great customer service! read more

I ordered 2 breakfast combo meals to-go, one was supposed to have 3 scrambled eggs with cheese, but i got Zero eggs, the other meal had it's eggs, but they were covered in uncooked, clear, raw egg slime, disgusting. Hash browns were burned to a crisp and inedible. I didn't realize any of this until I was already home with the food, very disappointing. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and they promised to refund my entire order. 5 days later my account was refunded $5 which was not even close to the cost of the whole order. So not only does the food there suck, they are dishonest as well. I was going there once a week, now I will never return and I would advise anyone else to avoid this place. They'll probably be out of business soon anyways. There are lots of other, much tastier breakfast options in town. Don't go to Denny's. read more

I have 6 kids so going out to dinner is definitely a financial decision! Denny's is quick and easy, prices are not bad so it's doable to take the family there once in a while. The waitstaff is a bit ok, not overly friendly but polite. The food is ok as well, nothing to rave about but for the prices it's satisfying. The atmosphere is about what you'd expect for a Denny's. Had wonderful experiences at Denny's in Southern California . . . boy was I disappointed here. Two cooks apparently walked out (what does that say about management?) a couple of days ago, 40-minute wait for food, even though we were there well ahead of the dinner rush. Sante Fe skillet was hot and tasty but very greasy, despite the paltry amount of sausage. Had to ask for silverware when our waiter brought our entrees--instead of grabbing some from a nearby table, we had to wait while he returned to the kitchen while our food was getting cold. Friend I was dining with never did get replacements for her raw-in-the-middle pancakes and no refill on her Coke because the machine was not working. It took 5 minutes to get a table because the host was talking to a server. There weren't many people there so service after that was fast. The heat was broken so it was very cold. My family and I bought a condo this spring in the TC area, as a child I spent many summers here and found the town has grown, businesses have changed, new ones have started such as Denny's. Living downstate I have wound up at Dennys many times never planed always out of necessity, when my in laws came up and wanted to go here we looked up some reviews, I never judge a book by its cover I like to not judge and experience for myself I've grown up and worked most of my life in the industry however for the last ten years have switched to enjoying restaurants, diners and such instead of working which as I'm sure all you servers out there no even when not at work when you eat out at another business you never switch the off switch completely off, you notice the server station, know what's going on around you while your dining companions wonder why you don't seem interested in their story. The reviews were a bit 50/50 I was nervous to take my very picky in laws to a late breakfast for our first time seeing each other in a year if there was going to be bad service, long waits, and cold not so good food but decided to be bold and go for it. We came in on a Monday a few weeks ago, I'm not one for reviews and realized when looking for a new dinner place tonight that this needs to be heard. Renee sat us in I think her name was Lori's section, there were four of us and we wanted a table and were sat at a large round table which we were later thankful for since everything our server recommended came out on multiple plates and was presented very well especially for how busy they were, If you sit close to the kitchen you can hear and see how these workers work and they work hard, fast, together and yes at times loud but in such a big place with such small staff you have to be loud and even tho we did become the people who take up a lot of their servers time asking for recommendations which was offered before we even had to ask which is always a plus and I will be back for the Mediterranean Chicken our server recommended it was almost noon but for us it was still breakfast so she recommended my husband get the lumberjack, I get the two moons skillet with tortillas and my mother in law the double berry breakfast and my father in law the Tbone n eggs and offered to bring side plates so we could all have a tasting of some of the tastes of Dennys she called it, it was perfect!! We all ate our own and got to try a bit of the others, can I say wow those pancakes are amazing! T-bone could have been a tad less tough but my father n law didn't think so and for the price it was perfect. Our coffees stayed attended to and hot, even tho she practically had invisible roller skates on!! We saw all the servers working the hostess stand, running food out for one another, busing their own tables which couldn't have been easy since it was pretty busy at time we were there but that was only noticeable by the servers running back n forth and amount of people not by poor service or food taking more time than should t get to us or by any seen chaos, Lori had a smile every time she came to our table, she stayed on top of even getting the straw wrappers and empty creamers off our table, very pleasant and very good at her job. I briefly saw what I assume was a manager in the kitchen whose voice I heard while there and I think he was singing at one point which showed he was keeping the spirits up of his team around him while producing top notch food and being a manager at the same time, I'm sorry I didn't get your name young man but good job, they are lucky to have you back on the line with them! I have been to Denny's a handful of times and I have always regretted it when I leave. The service is mediocre at best, and that if you catch them on a good day. The food is common diner food. There are plenty of diners in this town that do a better job. The only thing it has going for it is that it is open twenty four hours. Stopped at Denny's on a rainy Saturday, My waitress Sandy was simply outstanding. Service was quick and Sandy was very attentive. Food was cooked exactly as ordered and was delicious. Saturday morning on the 26th we stopped for breakfast on the way to WOMP Mac and Cheese bake off. This event sounded like fun. We stopped at a national chain resturant even though it was buy local saturday. Huge disappointment! Seated quickly so thought we would make our start time that was 1 hour and 35 minutes from now. Nope didn't happen. Had 10 in our group and orders were mixed up, some came out cold, ordered Carmel Banana pancakes came without bananas. Ordered mushrooms on scramble and came without. Waitress was very nice but told us they ran out of these items and it was only 830 in the morning. A good manager would have ask how are breakfast when he walked by. A better manager would hace ran to a local grocery store and got the itmes they were out of. We were late and threw off our whole day. NEVER AGAIN at any DENNYS. read more

We've been regulars at the Denny's in Traverse City, but I absolutely refuse to ever eat there again! I ordered breakfast and asked for the eggs to be cooked over easy, they were barely cooked and the uncooked egg whites ran everywhere over the rest of the food. I notified the waitress that the eggs were not cooked properly and requested they fix a new meal. She came back with just the eggs and nothing else. A second attempt at ordering over easy eggs on a to go order, same thing the egg whites were runny. Third time we go back to the restaurant on a Sunday and were seated promptly. Waitress comes to take our order and when we ordered breakfast were told they weren't serving breakfast only lunch because they ran out of breakfast foods. The waitress said the host was supposed to tell you we are only serving lunch. We told her he never told us that and when she went to ask him why he didn't he lied and said he did. So we proceed to order lunch and my order was completely messed up. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken Skillet and instead of the red skin potatoes they served it with hashbrowns and no mushrooms, it was awful. I would have loved to try the food here as it is new to our area but we didn't even make it that far into our Denny's visit. We were seated right away but then waited at our table for 10 to 15 minutes without even being acknowledged even though multiple servers and managers walked by. When leaving we informed the staff about what happened and they responded by saying okay. They did not apologize or even ask us to stay to be helped. I wish I could leave no stars for this place. Waited forever for our food, the place was completely falling apart, no organization and no one running the kitchen. The poor servers were trying to expedite, but I thought they were going to walk out. No one seemed to be in charge. Once we got the food it was pretty good. People were walking to the counter to refill their drinks because you couldn't get a refill even. I know staffing is hard in this town but this place is seriously lacking leadership. read more
