This place is going or has gone down hill faster than the service you'll receive. First, you have to wait at any given time or day to be seated. Once you're seated, the smell of sour dish towels and carpet mildew will overwhelm you! Now...wait to be served. Wait...wait...ok! Your server finally arrived and takes your order. But wait! Make sure you get all your condiments once your food arrives because your server will turn into Casper (the ghost)! Went here on our way to Baltimore. Had eaten at IHOP one time in Waldorf and figured this place would be better for service and food. Not really. We were seated rather quickly but that was as far as service went. Our waitress looked like she didn't want to be there. We ordered water only and it took a while to get it and then it took a while longer just to order. When the food finally came they had messed my son's order up, not bad, but it was inexcusable. He had ordered a pancake with 2 bacons but instead he got 1 bacon and 1 sausage (he hates sausage.) So we finally got our waitress back to the table and she went and brought him 2 more pieces of bacon. The floors were also dirty and there were some dirty tables. I never blame bad food on a waiter or waitress. They don't cook, they're just the middle person. That being said, this is why I give two stars our waiter did a good job. That's it. 1st we got pancakes and when we were cutting them up, there were two USED sugar packet wrappers under the pancakes. On a recent trip....decided to go to Denny's for breakfast before traveling to the beach. The service was very good. I had not gone to Denny's in years. I was impressed with a number of new items added to the menu. Items loaded with protein and better for me health-wise. The chicken sausage, turkey bacon and scrambled egg whites were all very good. The portions were a little small...but who needs to over-eat!!! This particular Denny's did have regular customers and it seemed a little strange to have the wait staff sitting in the booth with customers while they were actually working. read more

The experience that was observed at the local Denny's in Waldorf, Md was horrible. My family and I were seated near the checkout counter and greeted by a waitress that apologized for the wait. The problem was is that she had a roach crawling on her, and was made aware and flicked it off her towards the table and stepped on it and wanted to still take our order. Problem was is that she had just exclaimed that she had just come from the back where the food is! The suggestion was rose to complain to management in order to get a free or discounted meal/ are you serious? Me and My husband was here August 18,2017 and the experience was absolutely terrible. Our waitress was lazy and didn't check on Us regularly it got so bad we had to ask one of her co workers to order something for us. Where else can I get coffee and pancakes at 2am. Seriously why even put this on Yelp? If you go here its mostly because you're drunk or you go there knowing it's Denny's and you'd go somewhere else if you wanted something above and beyond expectation. ***Note: They've remodeled the entire store in the past few months. The new look is modern in decor, even if the coffee machine is from the 80's. The Staff are exceptionally friendly and the service is pretty good. Over 35 minutes for a breakfast sandwich on a weekday is not acceptable. Especially when tables that got here after us were served. I usually have a good experience here but this time was real bad. I've been all over the world with my work...boulangeries in France and pubs in England and chicken shacks in Kabul, so you can imagine my surprise when the best service I ever got was from....a DENNY'S in WALDORF?! The night shift there never fails to be personable and attentive, from Alisha greeting me with a smile to Troy asking how my day was..(and meaning it!) Since I'm transitioning to another location soon, I'm forced to eat out for most of my meals, and while the fare is your standard Denny's, the people just make the place. I've gone back three times just listen to the friendly banter see that camaraderie. This is my go-to night stop now. My compliments to management...yer doin it right. read more

This is my third time at this establishment. The food is usually always good. Today it was good however I observed them putting something in the pancake syrup before putting it in my table. I poured the syrup on my pancakes and took two bites. All of a sudden I felt light headed and dizzy. I thought it was just me until I took another bite and it got worse. I stopped eating it. Paid for my food and left. It felt like I was being poisoned. Fifteen minutes have passed. My eyeballs feel numb and I have a headache. I will not be going back anymore. Worst Denny's I've ever been to in my life. Food took forever, the drinks took forever and all we asked for was water. Literally went up to grab my food myself since I saw it sitting in the window, while our server was taking her time, sat down at the other table taking orders for another group. Another dude was too busy trying to hit on females coming in to the restaurant after apparently being cut from the floor. I've worked in the food industry before, and this is by far the worst establishment I've ever been in. True story. I don't know where to begin. Just know that the service there was something that left a very bad taste in my mouth. When my server took me & my family's order, she kept repeatedly asking for our order as though she could not hear us. Once she took the order she brought over our drinks and we never saw her until we were leaving out. She never asked how was our food nor if we needed a refill on coffee. We had to ask another waitress if they could get us a refill for soda, extra napkins, etc.. We apologized for asking a different server to assist us and ask what happened to our original server {Deb}and the response we got was she went on her lunch break. I never before, experienced a waitress in a restaurant go on break while waiting on their customer without communicating that. I felt that we were left fending for ourselves. I spoke with the manger whose excuse for her employee was that she went to lunch and she did not tell anyone. The manager gave us a discount but needless to say I am still disappointed and will never step foot in that restaurant again. An apology from our server would have been an appropriate thing to do. So i called the other night on the 30th of Nov 2015 when i got off work to place an order for pick up. A lady picked up the phone and i stated i would like to place an order for pick up. She said "sure hold on one second". That second turned into 10 minutes before i finally decided to hang up. This is would have been my 1st time trying Denny's at this location even after reading the previous reviews i still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was 1:30 am so i'm sure they weren't that busy. After i hung up i called Silver Diner asked them the same thing the lady took my order immediately and even offered suggestions. Moral of the story Go with your gut. Poor customer service Denny's. Definitely need to do some retraining. I would have even been happy if they came back to the phone and apologized and said it will just be a couple more minutes. Good Customer service is a must!!! read more

We always used to stop here for breakfast on our way to Richmond but lately, each time we stop here is worse than the last. This was our last time--we will not be returning. We were told to seat ourselves so we did. There were only 2 other tables with people so they were not busy at all. We waited forever just to get our menu, waited even longer for our food, which wasn't even what we ordered. Meanwhile, the couple at the next table were being doted on. Not sure what that was about but don't care. We were so upset that for the first time EVER, we did not leave a tip and instead, left it as a donation for a fallen officer's family at our next stop. The four of us for who stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning were lucky enough to get seated at one of the nicest, most professional waitress's with an incredible memory and a great personality... her name was MARIE. She remembered which of us had regular coffee, which had decaf, she helped us get the best value for our money by making menu suggestions, she was completely accommodating of our special requests. Marie was attentive without being intrusive and she was spot on even though she had a good amount of tables and the place was hopping. The food was really just ok, the scrambled eggs and the bacon were the best part of our breakfasts. The coffee was pretty good as well. The pancakes were a bit lacking, I-HOP's are MUCH better. The sausage links were a bit dry. Having Marie as our waitress made the minor food taste/quality tolerable. Just OK food. read more

Good food - terrific price. I eat breakfast here several times a month. The young Hostesses are exceptionally pleasant and efficient in finding seating promptly. I am always greeted with a "Hello" and leave with a "Thank You". Within minutes of being seated I've got my coffee and my order has been taken. I've never had to flag someone down to refill my coffee cup. Often the cup is refilled before its empty. Kitchen management is a bit weak. Too often there is a long wait for my food. It's difficult to say if they are overworked or understaffed. While the facility is a typical Denny's design and furnishing, it is the servers who bring a friendly warmth to the place. They are always smiling, engaging and seem genuinely happy to be serving you. Management, with few exceptions, seems to be in greater disarray than the kitchen. Where Raymond goes around greeting customers, Seth goes around with a clipboard, like a space cadet completing a checklist prior to blast off. So... even with its shortcomings, it's probably the best breakfast deal in Waldorf. read more

Terrible service! Gave this this one star because I couldn't go any lower. I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited... Ordered soup of the day and a chicken salad. Nothing too terribly complex. All I got was water. The waitress did a terrible job and management really is lacking. Finally, I had to walk out. This is not only my experience, but people would tell me about this restaurant being notorious for the long wait and bad service. I didn't really expect to experience it. I grew up watching the drive thru movies at a window seat in this Denny's in the 80's. This place and Bob's Big Boy was my family's dive, so I decided to try them again. I been back several times and the food and service have been excellent. Waiter Will and waitress Marie are very professional and friendly. They are both welcoming and always provided the best service with a smile. I ordered the steak and Bourbon chicken skillet several times and they were very fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more
