My buddy and I recently grabbed breakfast at this First Watch and I realized I hadn't reviewed it yet. First Watch is a solid, ridiculously popular breakfast spot. Probably a 3.5 but I rounded up because their App is bomb and it gives you live updates on where you are in line. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you take advantage of the online wait list, TRUST me!! Farm to table food is always a plus, and that's what make First Watch such a hit. You can taste the freshness. The space they occupy used to be Bob Evans and I'm a fan of Bob Evans and was sad to see it go. First Watche's menu is just okay to me and I always get the same thing, the "Tri-Fecta". It's always good, especially the blueberry pancake, but I'd like to switch things up every now and then.. Oh well.. Lol! So if you're looking for a healthier choice than Cracker Barrel or some of the other popular breakfast restaurants, First Watch is probably the spot for you.. Just get in line online.. Very nice venue. Clean inside. Hostess was friendly. I have been hearing alot about First Watch and their breakfast. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. My omelet and potatoes was luke warm. I thought the veggies and meat would be scrambled in the eggs. The cheese was just lumped in the middle of the omelet. My French toast was okay but luke warm. What ever happened to getting hot food. Our server was friendly, so that helped. I do plan to try their lunch food and see if that's okay. But not sure of the hype about this place, maybe you can get breakfast anytime of day. read more

This place has been opened almost a year in our town and it's still packed. Fortunately, we only had a 15 minute wait for our party of two. The non alcoholic drinks were nice, I had the watermelon and pineapple drink with a hint of mint. The restaurant had the typical ihop, dennys look but slightly upgraded with the chair choices and wall decor. I didn't get too fancy with my order. I had eggs over easy and the multigrain pancake. Yes pancake in the singular. The one pancake was as big as a plate and quite filling. I'll be back to try a more ambitious order. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Thursday. We waited a bit for our server but outside of that it was good. I'd only knock it down a half star for the late start. CS&EH - 7/10 - I had my egg cooked over easy and it added the perfect level of creamy to contrast the crunch of the potatoes and the bite of the steak. The only gripe I had was wanting the peppers cut up and for the potatoes to be cut down a bit more. I just felt like it would be a better bite for me. I did it myself so it didn't take away from the taste of course, just a preference. They have a bar area but no menu so I'm assuming they haven't gotten their license yet. Picture a crowded lobby on Sunday after church - that's what we walked into. But, we were pleasantly surprised to find open seats at the bar. We sat down with an ease unlike anything in the DMV at brunch time. The servers were friendly, quick and efficient, the food came out fresh and hot, the ambience had a quiet buzz that captured Sunday afternoon, relaxation, and all was good with the world. We visited on a Thursday for brunch. There was a wait at the door, but we opted to sit at the bar and was able to walk right in. We ordered the seasonal lemon blueberry cornbread as a starter. It wasn't as warm as I excepted it should be, but it still tasted delicious. I got the elevated egg sandwich, with eggs over hard instead of over easy, and a side of fruit instead of potatoes. We also tried the waffle, which tasted like a big funnel cake, very good. All of the food was great, the bacon was nice and crispy (the way I like it), they just need to work on their plating with clean hands. Our lunch, we ordered breakfast type meals, proceeded smoothly. The checkin process is thoughtful. They send you a text msg when your table is ready if you don't want to hang around the check-in podium. We went outside and sat in the sun to wait. It took less than 15 minutes for our call. We ordered PDQ and meal arrived within a very reasonably time. Our order was perfect and the portion size as expected. Our server checked on us a few times also. The food was tasty. Based on the low overall rating, I was surprised. the space is pleasant and there are plenty of table sizes. They can accommodate groups at the big round tables or by shoving tables together. I've been to this place three times in three weeks. I ordered online this time and asked for grits with no cheese, but when I got home, I found cheese in my grits. No big deal, though. This is one of the places beside Chick-fil-A that serves flavorful cream, and for the price, the side of grits could be more--$3.99 doesn't give you even half a bowl. I had my son go on and add our name to the list while in park. I walk in the restaurant and he says it's. 10-15 minute wait. I say okay. People come in before us and then they are seated. I asked the young lady how long will it be before we are seated and why was the people who came in after us seated before us. She said with an unprofessional undertone and attitude that it's a waitlist. And continues to go back and forth with me. I asked for the manager at that point. It was no need for that. He came over and stated to him what I asked the young lady. And I told him thank you for explaining that and why couldn't she explain the waitlist and online process to me without the attitude. I was beyond excited when I heard we were getting a First Watch. I enjoy breakfast/brunch & the area needed more farm fresh options. Family members were in town and hungry, They were discussing the Million Dollar Bacon they had in Dallas so I broke the good news about the Waldorf location opening & added my name to the Wait List. We arrived within our specified time & checked in. Needless to say, it was a full bustling house. We (family of 5) were seated in a tight high traffic area with a stroller although 2 empty booths & tables in more desirable spots were available . It took about 35 min. to receive water & coffee. We ordered our food at the same time to reduce wait time. Our order: Watermelon Wake -Up (2x), Million Dollar Bacon, Millon Dollar Potatoes, Blueberry lemon cornbread, shrimp & grits, trifecta, & Farmhouse hash without bacon. Server delivered bacon & cornbread after an additional 45 min. After an hour and multiple inquiries our remaining food was delivered COLD & my over medium egg was cooked hard. Butter didn't melt on toast or the Belgium waffle. The kids were getting cranky so we packed up as my son requested a manager. He shared specifics regarding our poor experience. We left him inside the restaurant with the manager. He came out with my replacement egg in a box. Visited on a weekday at 9:45 am and had a twenty minute wait time which isn't bad considering the place is new and there were already many people waiting. Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. We had : Purple Haze - super sweet lemonade 10/10 Salmon Eggs Benedict with mixed greens 7/10 ( my mom said the whites of her eggs were runny but overall it was tasty French toast - huge portion, smelled and tasted delicious hence why almost half of them are gone in the picture. The berry jelly was nice but the warm syrup was amazing. 9/10 Farmhouse hash- Potatoes were perfectly seasoned, eggs and bacon were tasty. Another huge portion. Trifecta- eggs, bacon and waffles. My daughter raved about the bacon ( they gave 4-5 pieces) and waffles. She also enjoyed her smaller portioned ( but still full price :) ) purple haze. Okay Yelpies! It's here! First Watch in Waldorf! It's the old Bob Evans but with a different look. It just opened so staff were opening doors, lots of employees helping each other, and super clean! Our utensils were spotty and I told my partner if they are going to take the time to wrap the utensils they might as well take the time to polish all the water stains and do a food check. My spoon had food stuck. Other than that issue, our visit was smooth. We got up early to beat the crowd on Saturday and before 9 a.m. there was a line outside of the door. Let's get into it! Trifecta - Waffle was light - Delicious! Probably one of the best waffles I've had ever! Eggs were fresh! Bacon was delicious! Definitely delicious! We love coming here. Husband and I have made it our little spot for breakfast. I have so enjoyed the eggs Benedict ( had it with ham and salmon). Huge portions of potatoes if you get the side. Be ready to share. We had the hash and avocado toast. Both great morning starters. Love the different flavored juices. Oh they make there hot chocolate with water, only bad thing I have found so far. Second time at this First Watch location and it's becoming a solid spot for our mommy-daughter brunch dates. It was a teacher workday so we treated ourselves. My daughter went for the Works omelette, and I ordered the Trifecta with scrambled eggs, bacon, and a Belgian waffle. We both had the Purple Haze juice and couldn't resist trying the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Doughnuts (so good, especially warm!). Service was friendly, food came out quickly, and everything was fresh. This is a spot that deserves a return visit. There are some items on the menu that I need to try. Just make sure you bring your patience. When I arrived I was told the wait would be 1-1.5 hours and it ended up being about 40 minutes.. that's a win right there. We came in when they first open on Father's Day literally 7:05 AM. This was because we've heard that it's hard to get in to first watch because the place is so new. We were seated almost immediately, by a nice gentleman at the front door, but we were forewarned that there currently were only two servers working so to please pack our patience if we could, and we were more that willing. A young lady came over and took our order. No smile, no good and no my name is ... and I'll be taking your order. Just " are you ready to order?" So service is not always great apparently. I knew First Watch from when I lived in Fl decades ago. I went yesterday to the one in Waldorf. I was not impressed. I love Eggs Benedict. It's my favorite breakfast. First off, they don't put Canadian bacon. Second the ham was freezing, which made everything else go cold. Add to the food going cold, they also put cold tomato in it. Third, it's supposed to be made with English Muffin, but they use ciabatta. That wouldn't be so big of a deal, except this was THE driest bread I've ever had in my life. It was so bad, I just didn't eat it. It did not taste, look or feel like ciabatta bread. Oh, and they didn't toast it, which you are supposed to when it's an English muffin. In this case, it likely would have improved somewhat the taste and texture, though I doubt it. Don't eat the ciabatta. The Hollandaise sauce was good, very lemony which I like, however I've had better. It was a bit bland but it was the best thing of all that I tasted. I inquired about the kale/cucumber/lime drink they had, which doesn't advertise sugar like the others, but they told me that it has sugar. I asked if they could prepare it without sugar but she told me that it's a syrup and it's already pre-made. I don't know why you would pre-make something with sugar. Not everyone likes sweet drinks ( I do not) and some people simply can't even have them. They advertise that these are juices made in-house. You don't serve coffee with sugar already in it, so why this? Something that could actually be healthy isn't because of this. You can pre-make these drinks avoiding added sugars, and ask if the customer would like that syrup in it. It's an easy solution. I ordered biscuits and gravy to have the next day. Not bad but way too spicy! And the biscuit has a weird texture unlike actual biscuits. They can't seem to get the bread part right. Forgot to mention, I had the side of cheesy grits. They do not give you butter or put butter in it. Very bland. I had to add salt to give it some flavor, but I am used to having butter in my grits; however I was almost done and didn't bother the server for butter, but it should come with it already. Overall, I got the impression that they cut too many corners. That is what it feels like to me (old bread, no butter, no Canadian bacon, pre-preparing drinks, etc). Ive had First Watch at other locations but this was my first time at the Waldorf location. We stopped in for takeout on Easter. Thankfully we were still able to order despite the restaurant closing in the next 20 minutes. There were families dining in but it was not overly crowded. We ordered the BLT Eggs Benedict and Floridian French Toast. The staff was friendly and the service was quick enough, however they didn't supply utensils until we asked and even then they gave us their one, last set despite us being a party of 2 with 2 entrees. When we got to the car we also noticed there was no syrup for the French toast and had to go back in. These small mistakes may have been due to them ready to close for the holiday. I can't say that I blame them although they should have had the correct supplies. Luckily the price wasn't bad and the food was good enough. The bacon was crispy and the avocado was fresh. The eggs were poached well and the Hollandaise sauce was tasty. It gets the job done for breakfast. I'm not sure how the lunch is. Would I go back? I wouldn't mind. read more

First time eating at this establishment and we thought the food and service were great.

Had 2 orders of the Floridian French toast. One was cold and the other was just warm. Tried to get it warmed up but was told they had no microwave. They did replace 1 slice and it was hot. Liked the dish but it needed to be served hot. The pork sausage was excellent but the turkey links were cold and unappetizing. They said they replaced it but pretty sure it was just thrown on the grill. Don't believe a restaurant has noo Microwave! Also, the automatic faucet in the men's room wasn't working!! Overall, I would give this 5 stars. Happy to have a First Watch in the area. I had previously went to the Towson location and was beyond pleased. I just got the Traditional Breakfast with a biscuit. Our waitress was very attentive. I added us to the waitlist prior to arriving and once we got there we only waited maybe an additional 10 minutes. The wait was not long at all when making an in advanced reservation which I recommend. Also the service that our waitress Aria provided was superb and she was very pleasant and attentive. Longtime First Watch customer when I was living in DC, so was super excited to have one a bit closer to me. Food was fantastic. The new shrimp and grits special is out of this world (is a light brown gravy). Grits were perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp was cooked pretty well. Paired it with their Watermelon Wake-Up at the juice bar, which I could drink gallons of. My guest had gotten their Breakfast Hash and a side of grits which looked fantastic until she realized that the entire bottom layer was just completely charred. Almost looked as if they just scraped out four or five skillets and then topped it with a few potato's and an egg. The customer service needs a lot of improvement. It appears to-go orders are prioritized over dine-in customers. There's never anybody working the front to greet or seat people. You are better off ordering online to-go. They should just close the dining area and run a carry out. read more
