EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I have made three trips to this restaurant during October and the experience has not been great. On each visit I sat at the counter being able to see directly into the cooking area. I immediately noticed the cook not wearing gloves while handling customers food orders. I called for the manager to discuss this health department safety violation. She then went into the kitchen to talk with the cook who then put on gloves. I then got my food, ate and left. On my next visit about a week later I went to the same seat and immediatly noticed the SAME COOK NOT WEARING GLOVES (AGAIN), I called for the manager again, there was not one on duty, so the asst. manager went to speak with the cook. This TIME HE DID NOT PUT ON GLOVES. Since my food order was already in I got my food and ate and left. Not before registering a vehiment complaint about this egregious saftey violation. I gave it one my try to see if anything had changed. I immediatey went and looked from the counter to see if THIS SAME COOK WAS WEARING GLOVES WHILE PREPARING MEALS, HE WAS NOT. I called for the manager, expressed my concerns, wanting to speaking with the District Manager, I was told I could not call and that I would receive a call. I did not eat here this time as a cook who REFUSES TO WEAR GLOVES WHILE PREARING YOUR FOOD IS A HEALTH HAZARD, I left the restaurant without eating. As to the call from the District Manager, it has been over two weeks, and I have heard NOTHING. So my final word to all of you, IS EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN HEALTH RISK! read more

The restaurant was clean, booths & tables clean also. We were seated promptly, with menus, and our server allowed us time to look over the menus & gave suggestions with our rewards to help decide since one of us had a birthday. Out server, Ashley, was patient & kind. We had 3 teens who were a bit overly zealous and asked for additional things, and she always came and brought their request with a smile. The food was very good and we actually ordered extra, which we were unable to finish. We boxed and brought home. The only issue with the food was my dish, the Taco Skillet, didn't look appetizing at all or anything like the picture. But it tasted ok. The avocado were brown and the eggs were brown also from the sauce used. After I had spilled a whole glass of water, she gave me napkins to clean up myself and the spill. Visited today around 1130. Short staffed (as are lots of places), we were ok with that. The waitress was very friendly and kept us informed that she would be right with us. First off, they must have wiped the table off with a dirty rag from the smell. The food was decent, and pumpkin pancakes were great. But they were truly beyond short staffed. No refills, at $3.60 a soda. She was definitely overwhelmed. The wait for a table and the wait to pay was ridiculous. It was such someone could have dined and dashed. Okay. First OF ALL the service was horrible. She told us she had a lot of tables. We saw her wait on 3 others she stood and talked to the table next to us for a long time. She apparently knew then. I saw her ask the other 2 table if they were okay. She never asked us if we wanted more coffee or water. And only came by to lay the check down. Not even ask if everything was good. Food is always pretty good but last time I went there they didn't honor the kids eat free. The kids meals are so expensive and small so I feel getting rid of these promotions shows a lack of community/family support. The last few times I went there the service wasn't very good and my bill was $65 for my family of 5 with 3 of them being under 12. read more

I have eaten at the Waterloo Dennys several times, and although the food is usually good, management is very poor. Asst General Manager seated us by simply walking to the table, dropping the menus on the table and didn't speak one word. He is too concerned about his appearance and showing off his muscles than welcoming guests. According to his professional website, he has no restaurant experience which definitely shows. They are always out of something even though his skills include inventory management. I feel sorry for the very few waiting staff that actually work. read more

The management needs to step up and staff this restaurant. The lack of staffing is giving this place a poor reputation. The servers are friendly but the place is just completely under staffed. You advertise, send emails and mailings for weeks about the breakfast special to honor Veterans on Veterans Day. As a Veteran, my wife and I tried to apartake in the Veterans Day meal, but it wasn't meant to be. Staff was totally unprepared for the number of patrons arriving. Disappointed with the manager on staff as he seemed to figure the best way to deal with the problem was to ignore those waiting and even those wanting to pay. I guess he figured if he ignored the problem, the problem would go away. He was right. There were about four couples besides us that left the same time as us after waiting over 30 minutes with many tables being open. And he had not communicated with the patrons at all. 4/9/22 we ate at the denny's in waterloo, IL today and it was terrific. our server was Erica. wow! is she a hard worker. she took our order and kept our glasses filled. you couldn't but help notice how she constantly worked cleaning and setting up tables. she was a human tornado. she was attentive but not intrusive. very personable. the two cooks worked as a team and it was impressive how they moved back and forth and never got in the other guy's way. and the food was excellent; cooked perfectly. i would definitely go back to the denny's in waterloo. read more

Denny's is like the WalMart of the restaurant world to me. Sometimes I go but just because they are cheap and convienant. This one is located in front of the Walmart in Waterloo. It was convienant for me to take my dad from here to Walmart. The server was friendly. Mostly, the staff is always very accomodating. I will be back but like I said it is not a place I think I want to go to on a regular basis. read more
