Driving up to Sacramento and stopping for gas and a family dinner at Denny's. I'm impressed, most Denny's are not this clean, and being that it's located in a gas station, has my attention. Once we walked in we were welcomed by the store manager (Elena). Then, Mark, our waiter, came over and also grew us and escorted us to our seat. Although they didn't have the food we wanted in their inventory, Mark was apologetic and offered suggestions to better our service. Cooks in the back nailed it!! Great job!! Very taste. Denny's locations need to take heed and follow their example. read more

This was my first time at this Denny's which is located within the same building at Joe's Travel Plaza, a nice truck stop just off the I-5. I visited on a Sunday morning around 8:30 AM which might explain the lower-than-expected volume of customers. This place sits off the freeway and is not around a major town, so it looks like it primarily gets OTR freeway patronage. I was immediately greeted and seated and had my breakfast shortly thereafter. The food was really good and the service was quick and very attentive. I was impressed with how the seasoned manager pleasantly addressed everything across the entire restaurant and he made sure everyone was happy, as did the other wait staff. The place was very clean, well-lit, and with crystal-clear windows where I watched a myriad of 18-wheelers come and go which was pretty cool. I definitely plan on stopping off here again in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I travel a lot due to him being a truck driver. We frequent many Dennys as that is the only option. Our server Claudia was amazing. She was the only one working and was taking care of at least 6 tables while we were there- around 10:30 pm. Our meals came out quickly and delicious. I had a chicken cobb salad with fruit and my boyfriend had a club sandwich with fries. I love ranch and always order extra which no one seems to understand- I need a lot of ranch. And Claudia provided me with a perfect small bowl of ranch. Which I appreciate as I never had to keep asking for sides of ranch. Definitely a must if you're on the road and looking for a quick bite to eat. read more

The time to get seated was about 5 minutes and then 10 minutes to take order then about 12-15 minutes to get food. The waitress was very pleasant and had a big smile. It has plenty of seating. We stopped here randomly on our drive back to SoCal from San Francisco. This was by far the cleanest Dennys I have ever seen, and was the BEST service I have ever received at any restaurant I've ever been to. Jose is a fantastic server! He really deserves a raise or a promotion. Very attentive and accommodating, super warm & friendly which made our breakfast feel like much more than a 5 star experience. Easy to get to right off the highway. Denny's has a good selection for breakfast that surpasses IHOP when it comes to breakfast meats, eggs, and potato combinations. I had the Santa fe skillet which has chorizo sausage and it was so good! Lots of flavor and a good portion size for the price ($8-9). Well, we don't go to Denny's often, but heading south on the I 5 through farm country it's not that easy to find a sit down restaurant close by. This Denny's was a pleasant surprise. First of all, our server was cheerful and efficient. The coffee was good. Our food looked good and tasted great. One thing I especially appreciated was the generous, but reasonable, portion of very crispy hash browns. Some places try to fill the plates with too much potatoes to mask the skimpiness of the other items, but at this Denny's I had the perfect amount to go with my eggs and chicken fried steak. If I could give this establishment zeros stars I would. My family and I encountered the most ridiculously terrible service I could have imagined. The manager on duty, Guadalupe was the image of rude and unprofessional. She took over a half hour to make two sides of scrambled eggs for my my toddlers (that we ordered the moment we were seated) while having the time to serve everyone else around us. When told it was ridiculous she was completely rude and spent the time it took my children to eat giving my family dirty looks and did not come back to even offer to refill a beverage. She is in no way management material. You do not treat your customers that way or children for that matter. I highly recommend avoiding this establishment if she is working. read more

I would give the restaurant more stars if it were cleaner, and I would've given them less stars if the food wasn't as good as it was! The bathroom was littered with toilet paper and paper towels, as well as the trash overflowing. Obviously, the restroom had not been cleaned today. There was way too much garbage. The seat cover holder in the stall was in I'll-repair as well. It was dangling on the wall sideways missing screws from one side of it. Interesting to me was the sign on the door that read, "Clean and well stocked restrooms are important to us. If you find this restroom in need of cleaning or supplies, please alert any member of our staff." P.S. They didn't seem that interested in my report to them of the condition of the bathroom... Gonna keep it simple and to the point. It's convenient because it's one of the few places along the 5 freeway in this area. It is what it is. The food is good, the servers are great.... but for the life of me I can't figure out why this place hasn't installed fly-fans at the doors. I understand that they are in a rural area and all, and flies come with the territory. I GET IT... But fly-fans are nothing new! And they don't cost a fortune. With that said, NO ONE wants to hold flies at bay with a menu in the left hand while trying to eat with the right hand. Keeping flies out of your establishment and away from your patrons who are trying to eat isn't rocket science. Not to mention, the health department tends to frown upon these types of situations. read more

Stopped by while on the road, hoping to get the regular quick Denny's service but this place disappointed. It was very empty, but the service was extremely slow. There was one group before us who got their food and ate and left meanwhile we had already ordered and only waited and waited for our food. And to top it off, just like other reviews, THE FLYS were annoying and gross. No one should have to sit in a restaurant trying to enjoy a meal they are paying for and eating with one hand while fighting flys with the other hand. It's ridiculous! read more

We were hungry for breakfast and stopped here. Great service! The place smelled great and had cute halloween decorations. The big plus was that my vegan husband ordered a dish and had some restrictions/modifications. The server didn't bat an eye and wrote the details down. You don't know how many times people have said it's impossible to do that, or not understand simple requests. Five stars for that! We walked into this location on the way back from Lake Tahoe. We had stopped here on the way there and had a pleasant experience. This time, our waitress Teena completely forgot to put in the order for my child's food so by the time hers came out we had already finished eating. I don't know if that was a kitchen error or waitress, but regardless it was an inconvenience to keep my child waiting. Second, I noticed an extra side item charged on my bill that I did not ask for. All I had asked for was a country fried chicken dinner with two sides (mashed potatoes and wild rice). After inquiring about the additional side on the bill to another waitress who asked if we were ok, she proceeded to go ask the waitress who served us what the additional side was. I could audibly hear her stating that I had asked for corn and potatoes. In fact, I DID NOT ask for corn- I asked for mashed potatoes and rice. When they both came over to tell us this, I told her what I ordered and what they gave me. They then both said that they could not remove the charge because "there was nothing for them to take back" um okay? And that's my fault? Whatever happened to the customer is always right? They really opted to make an easily fixable mistake into an unpleasant situation for everyone. As if I would possibly be making up this absurd claim just to get out of paying a mere $2.69. Seriously? This, AFTER they had already screwed up and forgot my kid's order. I had accepted her apology about my child's missing order with grace so for them to do this really sealed the deal. You need to look into hiring more competent people and how to effectively manage situations instead of putting the blame on the customers. read more
