    The smoked Turkey platter $16.99!

Worst barbecue we have ever had Overpriced very small portions and food was not hot I would not recommend this location, I would go next door to Denny's instead

Brisket meal, cabbage slaw, Mac cheese, pulled pork sandwich and 2 drinks for $40 bucks
    Houser S.

I don't even know what to say! How is it possible to screw up bbq? Obviously we were on the road, so so hungry and spotted this from the freeway, so we stopped. It looked really decent outside and also inside, it certainly has a Texas feel to it. Usually new places I order whats popular so ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese and cabbage slaw. The only thing good was the slaw. The brisket was like beef jerky and over salted and over peppered not sure how it's popular unless they figured we are just travelers and on our way never to come back and they need to get rid of food! The Mac and cheese literally tastes like noodles with velveeta mixed together. I was expecting a good creamy cheesy recipe but no. Lastly we ordered the pulled pork sandwich, it was pretty decent, but pricey! Meals and drinks were just under $40 bucks, I was shocked. Never again and I would not recommend this place ever! We could have had better and less expensive at Denny's next door.

Part of the jiggle mountain extracted from the dissection.
    Tia V.

Not very good for the price. We both got a brisket sandwich and they were full of fatty pieces. I literally had to dissect my sandwich in order to eat it. By the end of the operation I had a fatty mountain of brisket jiggle. Seemed overpriced for a bun, a couple slices of onion and a few pieces of meat that were mostly fat. In fact one of the pieces on my sandwich was only fat. Like how did the lady who made the sandwich think that I'd enjoy a big chunk of seasoned fat? FYI...I wouldn't. Moral of the story, we won't be back.

READ BEFORE MAKING A MISTAKE!!! I wish I could give this less than one star, undeserving of anything. Coming in the two girls were awful, didn't acknowledge us and had their own personal conversation using inappropriate language as we were ordering. The meat was absolutely COLD and sooo over seasoned. Asking for the employee to warm the food to be a decent temperature was difficult. She had a difficult time understanding what I was politely asking for. I was also left without a roll which the plate came with and they informed us they were all out, yet they were eating multiple in the back of the counter !! HAD to come to Carl's jr. across to the street to not be hungry. The bad attitude and cold, overly seasoned meat was enough to walk out without eating. Spare your money and time and stop somewhere else.

Very clean! Warm country themed dining area.

When I came in, I was greeted with a very nice "welcome in" from a very sweet lady Molly, who was very patient. Because I'm not so well at ordering things right the first time she was polite and helped me to figure out what I wanted. wanted being the first time Customer I was very happy and pleased with my customer service And great hospitality! Hopefully you'll have the same experience. We'll be stopping in again.

Bad Pork from Dickeys BBQ in Patterson, CA
    Mark C.

Excited to find Dickeys BBQ at a Truck Stop on the I-5 at Howard Road exit just north of Patterson, but that should have been my first RED flag. The Dickeys was hard to find and is literally in the back of the Joe's Travel Plaza with no directional signs (probably to protect the public). Then the staff at the counter standing around idly talking was the next red flag. The distinct smell of a faulty septic was the third strike. However, the fact that we did not walk out is our fault, but we were hungry, and wanted to get back on I-5 for a LONG trip. Next, There was no fried food available without further explanation or God forbid an "I am sorry." So we got our pulled pork sandwiches and jumped onto the highway in ignorant bliss. Or so we thought. We took one bite and the smell and taste made us immediately repell from the pungent smell and spit out the food, wrap up the spoiled pork and throw them out. We not only wasted $20 and we still need to find food to eat, which is not easy on the I-5, but we also have upset stomachs! DO NOT GO HERE!!! They don't deserve 1 star, but that is the lowest Yelp allows.

Dickies BBQ Pit of Dallas is substandard when it comes to the art of BBQ. Ordered a half rack of pork ribs at $14.95 which was pricey for what we got. The meat had a pleasant lightly smoked taste, but parts of it were so over cooked, the meat was dry & hard like jerky. The rub was vastly more harsh salt than fine herbs & spices so the meat came out way too salty. Truly amateurish attempt which resulted in faux bbq. Iced tea was so diluted that there was hardly any fragrance of brewed black tea, Also local water was probably used so it had a slight off tasting minerality so I switched beverages. The computer automated beverage machine also failed in recreating the exact flavour of classic Coke. It was too much carbonated soda water probably using the same local off tasting water and not enough of the classic Coke syrup. Ladies here were not particularly welcoming, but the young man & the gentleman who had to reboot the malfuntioning automated beverage dispenser were friendly & sociable. Unfortunately not worth the time off the road on the way to San Francisco to eat at Dickies. 2- Yelp stars.

The other location in Buellton closed a while ago so I think this maybe the only one left. Could be the original but I'm not sure. Just off the 5 heading north. We stopped by for a quick bite before heading back on the road. Mid week which wasn't that busy. It's been so long ago that I didn't remember what the inside looked like. As we had our little pup with us, they were able to accommodate us. There's three entrance from the front area. Main being the one that leads you to the restaurant. Another is from the gift shop side and we also noticed people coming in from the side of the bar. One side is the restaurant which we looked at but ended up at the bar section. Which happened to be happy hour happening. Didn't know they had that to offer. Bar area was pretty quiet when we were there but it did pick up. There's also patio seating right outside there. Main menu pretty much has as everything but we just opted for some happy hour bites for now. Drink special was offered both for draft and bottle as well as cocktails and wine. Food menu, they were limited on that but the usual were offered. Both cup or bowl of the famous soup was available. Half order of the potatoes skin, onion rings and wings were available as well as the quesadillas. Soup was decent but could have been hotter. Onion rings, and the wings were ok. Good nothing major to rave about. Both served with ranch sauce. I also picked up some dessert from the counter which looked great. Happy hour items were decent for the price. The service for the whole place was great. All The staff and waitress were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress who was also the bartender was a major doll. She was very sweet. As well as all the ladies on the restaurant side. Very accommodating to us. Overall, it was a cute stop off for a quick bite. Cute gift shop that's worth a wandering around. Plenty of parking available.

Outside there is a photo op and the building looks really cool. Inside, you can find all things Danish. However, I was sad to find the shop was so much smaller than the pictures on Yelp show. Everything is connected inside - the shop, bakery, restaurant, bar, and restrooms. The restaurant is huge and there's also an eating area at the bar and a back patio, although it was dusty and cramped and I don't think many people use the patio seating. They are dog friendly and the bartender allowed us to sit in a corner of the bar with our two dogs for our dinner. We also were able to walk them around inside the shop. Split Pea Soup 3.5/5* The soup itself is boring. There's a grainy texture, good flavor, but blah. You definitely need to order the toppings to go with it, which is a weird combination of stuff that somehow makes the soup so much better. You get cheese, sliced ham, bacon, scallions, and croutons but the crunchy green onions and bacon are what makes the soup pop. It feels like eating a healthier version of chili. Country Fried Steak 2/5* Not your typical country fried steak. The batter on this is thin and isn't very textured with crunchy edges. It was like a sad limp piece of fried patty. The steak had good seasoning but the batter really did it no justice. Hashbrowns were average. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and English Muffin was perfectly toasted. I do like that they give you a whopping amount of whipped butter for your toast! The bakery had some good looking pastries. The whole experience reminded me of a piece of Solvang. Great rest stop for something different. Plus, the bathrooms are huge and clean.

On Sunday, when we checked in for our reservation, I was impressed -- the hostess remembered us by name, which says a lot considering how many guests come through the restaurant. We were seated, and soon after we were greeted by Eleanor, our server. She was warm, attentive, and never made us feel pressured, which was a huge improvement from a previous visit. She answered every question I had, including how they cook a medium‑rare steak (every chef has their own interpretation, lol). She also gave an honest answer when I asked whether the vegetables used at dinner come from their greenhouse. The service felt genuine, and the food was excellent -- a much better experience than my last review. This visit was absolutely worth the return. Kudos to Eleanor and the Kitchen at The Mission.

After that, the experience slowed down quite a bit. When ordering, the new menu was confusing. Everything is now essentially à la carte -- you order a meat or sandwich and then choose a side at an additional cost. We ordered one 3-meat combo with garlic fries, one 2-meat combo with mac & cheese, a tri-tip sandwich with garlic fries, another sandwich with regular fries, and a large onion ring for the table. There was also confusion about sides. We initially asked for a large garlic fry with the combo and were told it only came with a small side, but also that the side wasn't included in the price. The ordering process felt unclear for both us and the server. Food took about 25 minutes to arrive. During that time, we had to ask multiple staff members for utensils and condiments (BBQ sauce, ketchup, ranch, and Tabasco). We asked three different times before receiving them, and by then the fries were mostly gone. Food quality was mixed. The sandwiches and sides were actually very good, and the tri-tip was flavorful. However, the smoked BBQ meats were very dry and the house BBQ sauce was not appealing. The dining room was also quite cold during our visit. Our total bill was about $200 for four people. At that price point, we expected stronger service and more consistent food quality. The restaurant used to be a favorite when we first moved to Patterson 8 years ago, so this visit was disappointing. I hope they work out the menu clarity and service issues because the potential is still there.
