Had a coworkers recommendation to try Denovellis! I treated myself to two righteous appetizers and a tasty mixed drink. I enjoyed myself in the bar, which had many lively, noisy and happy patrons. I felt the prices were steep, except for happy hour appetizer and drink prices. The service was great, with very little waiting for food delivery. I will come back soon, but be sure during happy hour.

What a perfect dinner at Denovellis!! From start to finish the food was phenomenal. I had ordered a perfectly poured espresso martini while I reviewed the menu. During my browsing, the server came over with fresh bread and a complimentary plate of roasted peppers with garlic and slices of cheese. That alone wowed me! So I wanted to try more! I chose to order the portobello mushrooms as the appetizer and I can't believe how good it was and how I nearly licked the plate. The sauce on top was a sherry wine with a melted Gorgonzola cheese. It was so good that I used the bread to scrape the plate. It was one of the best sauces I've ever tasted on top of stuffed mushrooms. For dinner I tried the chicken Enzo named after one of the chef's. It was baked chicken breast topped with breaded eggplant, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil pesto. It was served with a side dish of penne alla vodka and a salad. This entree was amazing as well as the chicken il nonna! I was thoroughly impressed but then dessert came. And I was completely blown away by the house made pistachio tiramisu. It was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. It was light but full of flavor. Probably one of the best desserts I've had in a while too. The cassata cake was also very good. I've told all my friends and family about this place and honestly can't wait to go back.

We went here with some friends for drinks and dinner it was fantastic. The waitress took care of us beautifully. We got a couple appetizers and the dinner we loved it. Bar and restaurant area was very nice.

First time and I'm a fan! Service was excellent, menu was extensive, offering something for everyone. My calamari dish was outstanding, it was extremely tender served with a light tomato sauce over perfectly cooked linguine pasta. A medley of flame roasted peppers; garlic infused evoo and Fontina cheese was the perfect complement to the meal. Service was attentive, personable and helpful. This was a wonderful dining experience, I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Chicken parm. The picture doesn't do it justice. As big as the plate and so delicious.

This place is my new obsession. I went with my family last week and already went back for a second time this week. Denovellis is serving up classic Italian food done so perfectly. First, they start with house roasted peppers, cheese, and warm bread. I don't even typically like peppers, but these are so good I could eat all of them. The chicken dishes have the most tender chicken. Chicken parm and chicken francaise are some of the best my husband and I have ever had. I love that the entrees come with a side of pasta with pink sauce. I never eat the pasta side but that pink sauce is DELICIOUS! Entrees also come with basic house salad that is fresh and yummy or homemade soup - pasta fagioli was amazing. I just can't say enough about this restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is friendly and warm. You can tell that there are lots of regulars. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant section with two corner booths but make a reservation as it gets very busy! There is also a large bar with some high top tables for walk in seating as well. If you're looking for Italian comfort food, this is the spot.

De Novelli's ("De N's") is a Rocky Hill Italian restaurant that serves things such as pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, classic Italian dishes and riffs on classics. The inside is nice enough that you might have a family dinner there, but it's not super fancy. In my visits, I've noticed that they have a popular bar area as well. They also presently have a tented outdoor seating area. I don't know the owners, but De N's feels like a family-run business. My takeout service this week was timely, friendly and attentive. I have a good impression of the dine-in service from a couple prior visits. I ordered eggplant parm for dinner. It was good. There were a few pieces layered like a lasagna with traditional style red sauce, mozzarella and ricotta. The sauce was tasty and had good thickness. The cheeses were on point. I prefer my eggplant a bit crispier, but it was substantial and De N's did a solid job. What did Creamy Marinara say when Pasta was staring into space? Penne for your thoughts. #dadjoke I appreciated that the red sauce for the penne was slightly different It was creamier and very good. The meal came with a complimentary salad. It was fairly standard, but I enjoyed it. Four Stars for a good meal and takeout experience.

I came here for dinner on a very busy Saturday night. My friend and I were lucky enough to snag a table in the bar right away. We started off with the table peppers, cheese, and bread. Instead of having the salad that was included with my dinner (Chicken di Nonna) I opted for pasta fagioli. If I wasn't pregnant at the time, I would have been completely fine, but unfortunately the peppers and soup triggered the worst acid reflux. I ended up needing to have my dinner boxed right when it was served - I was pretty embarrassed about the situation, but thankfully the staff was quickly accommodating and understanding. After my symptoms subsided, I was able to finally try my dinner at home and I was very pleased - the chicken was SO good and provided 2 dinners. I also took home Pistachio Tiramisu, which was insanely delicious - I seriously could have eaten a whole tray of it! I plan on returning with my husband since he has never been here, and I will be ordering the same exact meal!

I figured as they got more established the food would get better but it does not. The worst experience was most recently when we ordered a standard calzone. Their calzone is not normal at all. It had thin slices of potato that looked and felt like the texture of a raw onion and low grade meat. There was barely any cheese and zero ricotta in this calzone. Not only that but I actually laughed when I saw it because the entire calzone was burnt - literally black. To my surprise after trying a bite the bottom was severely undercooked and doughy. Just so odd. FYI carbonara is supposed to be their staple but I was not a fan. Super bland and underwhelming but I'd definitely order that over the calzone any day!! I will not be returning.

That's the downside and I would give it 3.5 honestly because of it. Service was alright, our waiter wasn't bad, but he told us pizza will be right out and we still waited 20 minutes. All we ordered was a small firebird pizza. Sally's apizza describes it as "Mozzarella, Sally's tomato sauce, oven roasted chicken, diced sweet and hot peppers, onion" The flavor is really good and I do like how thin crusted the pizza is. I wanted to give them a second chance. Sometimes businesses have bad days and I don't like to judge based off of one experience unless it's super bad. Well, this time was worse. Ordered the chopped salad. All you could taste was dressing and it was soggy and swimming. Barely any meat. Then the pizza came. One half had pepperoni and hot honey and the other had meatball and ricotta. The pepperoni side was literally disgusting. Like the salad, it was completely drenched in hot honey and sickly sweet. It was pooling on my plate. You couldn't taste the sauce, cheese, and toppings. Speaking of the sauce, there was little to none, had no flavor, and it was canned. I know canned sauce when I taste it. This was especially shocking because Sally's is known for their sauce. I'm very disappointed because I usually love the sauce at Sally's l, but this wasn't it. And then there's another problem: the pizza came out burnt and cold. New Haven style is slightly charred, not BURNT. It wasn't just the crust; it was also the undercarriage. See the photos I attached. It also took 50 minutes from the time our order was placed to get our one pizza when the restaurant wasn't even at half occupancy. Service was terrible!! We weren't even offered red pepper or parm with our pizza and weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Not like we wanted to stay after that mess, but it would've been nice to be asked. Our server was never near our table and it took a long time to get the things we wanted. We felt completely ignored all night. I feel like this is totally understandable on a busy night, but the place wasn't packed by any means and there were only a few tables occupied. We had to wait an extra 20 minutes after we finished our pizza before our server came around again and just handed us the check and walked away without a word. Not coming back.

I got the pasta à la vodka with chicken, and my girlfriend got the pesto gnocchi chicken dish. Everything came fast, warm, and fresh- cooked to perfection. We also got the cheese garlic bread as a starter, which was delicious and the perfect size as to not spoil your dinner. Finally, we split an order of the chocolate lava cake which was one of the tastiest desserts I'd ever had. Now, onto the even more impressive details. First things first, calling in, and then changing the time for our reservation was very easy, and the man who picked up the phone seemed very excited to have us coming in to the restaurant. Upon arrival, it was clear the host (Jimmy) was the same person on the phone, as he remembered my name and was immediately incredibly hospitable and friendly. Jimmy asked me and my girlfriend how long we'd been together, and we told him "2 years today!" This at first seemed like typical small talk on the way to the table (which I should mention was arguably the best seat in the house, a table right by the front window in a nice quiet area of the restaurant), but I was quite impressed when the first thing our server, Vincent, said to us a few minutes later was "Happy anniversary." Vincent was very helpful and made sure to circle by our table frequently enough to make sure we had everything we needed, but not to the point where it was unnecessary- perfect!! As you can see in the attached image, our lava cake came with a nice happy anniversary message, and I'd like to remind you that this was all just from us mentioning it to Jimmy, once on our way in. We were treated to some goodies to take home separate from what we ordered, as well as a nice half off discount on the parking lot up the street. And it was to my great surprise and graciousness that when I peeked at the bill, our dessert was missing- based on the service we received, I would be surprised if this was a mistake. In summary, our trip to Salute was nothing short of a 5 star review. Excellent food, clean bathrooms, calm and friendly atmosphere, and I do not understate this when I say that the service was IMPECCABLE. Thank you very much to Jimmy, Vincent, and Salute as a whole for a wonderful evening- we will be back.
