I met Dr Lugo back 2012-3. I didn't want to hear what other dentist told me about not getting implants. He agreed to 16 implants and full mouth restoration, knowing I am a heavy smoker. Well from the start there was an issue 2 of the implants were to close together on the bottom. My gums would not grow between them as their was not enough space per other dentist. Dr Lugo did try his best. He put fewer teeth than agreed and I have in writing it would be changed. As my implants failed he would not help. At my last visit he told me nothing was wrong I just needed a cleaning. I was sent next door to his daughter also a dentist for cleaning. I stood in her office tears in my eyes. I said to her, "Please disobey your father, I know my body the back implants one on each side has failed. Please cut the bridge and remove them." Thank god she did, after the first cut one implant fell into her hand, so I video taped the next removal. She cut the next bridge and with a gentle tug the implant came out. She stated I had a infection and removed it. Had I listened to Dr Lugo I could of lost my life. Tuesday May 26th 2026 I go to my appointment with a different Dr. To have my bridges removed as he works he is shocked by the excessive use of glue and said the implants are position wrong. When he gets off the first crown he said it made sense now what I was telling him and why I have been in so much pain. He proceeds to remove the rest of the bridges. When done he says to me, I am sorry I can't make your denture right now. Your gums have had to much pressure on them and need to heal. That my implants from the start were wrong aiding in the failure. I contacted Dr Lugo today hoping that he would at least make me a new set of Dentures for free to restore me back to how he found me. He wanted to charge me $1500 usd and would go as low as $1200 usd. I explained to him the other dentist would charge me 800 and it would not make sense to pay him more. I have always thought the highest of him, defended him and his work to my friends and family, brought him patients. To hear the dentist tell me my gums were under pressure from them being placed wrong and that is why I have been in so much pain. I thought to myself now that the bridges are off if I reached out to you. You would restore me to how you found me. To learn I was wrong about the man I believed you to be, is devastating. I sit here crying praying to god may I find forgiveness in my heart and go back to believing only the best of you. I went to this dental office based on a friend's recommendation, but my experience was very disappointing. From the start, the staff tried to schedule too much work for me in a single day because I told them I was only in town for one or two days. At first, I agreed since the price seemed reasonable. However, within a month, most of the work they did had failed. I had to remove and redo almost everything here in the U.S., which ended up costing me seven to eight times more than what I originally paid. Beyond the cost, the pain and stress I went through made me regret ever going there. The service was extremely rushed. They seemed more focused on getting paid--especially in cash--than on providing quality care. We were even promised someone would meet us at the border, but no one showed up. After major procedures, they just let me go on the street under sedation and arranged for someone random to take me back to the border. That felt unsafe and unprofessional. The office itself was not clean, and the whole experience felt careless. My advice: don't risk it. If you are considering dental work abroad, go somewhere professional and trustworthy that actually takes responsibility for your well-being from start to finish. read more

Dr. Lugo is wonderful. My dentist in San Diego quoted me over $6.5k for an implant AND I would have to seek out different Dr's to do different phases of the work. I had reservations about going to TJ but Dr. Lugo came highly recommended. An implant is a lengthy process. 1st tooth extraction and bone grafting, 2nd the screw insertion and 3rd the crown. Each process involves 1-3 months in between. Everything is done in one office. One doctor. The lab is on the premises and uses porcelain. You have options. His staff is very nice. I don't speak Spanish but they all spoke English to me. My tooth looks great and I saved over $5k! (And my insurance reimbursed me for work done out of network!). They also have a driver who will pick up/drop off from the border! Bonus! After they took my impressions to fit my implant I asked if they could make me a mouth guard since my previous dentist diagnosed me with grinding my teeth and quoted me almost $700 to have one made. 3 days after leaving Dent Art with the temporary crowns and the implants came out with the temporary crowns (see the photos) this isn't just malpractice ... This is felony malpractice because this is obviously intentional and that makes it a felony! He caused me excessive pain and as several dentists will testify, he is directly responsible for my loss of several teeth! Here is the most indisputable evidence of my claims... Why does a business established nearly a decade ago only have 8 reviews going back 8 months?? Enough said! If you still want to go there I wish you luck. I've been going to Dr Lugo as a secondary dentist for many years now and my experience has been awesome. I have an implant he did about 4-5 years ago and everything went well. I will say if you can't get to the dentist if you have any issues then you may need to make a different choice because any time you may have a complication with an oral procedure with any dentist. When I got my implant done I had to go back because I ultimately needed to take an antibiotic after the screw was placed. When I realized I felt soreness longer than they said I should I called and they got me in the next day to see Lugo and he immediately handled everything and I had no issues after. I definitely recommend him as he is the family dentist for another physician there I trust. read more

I had a root canal and two crowns at DentArt center. Amazing work, and 1/3 the price compared to Los Angeles. Los Angeles Dentists are really expensive. Great staff and Dr.'s at DentArt center....my crowns are perfect fit, with perfect bite. Have had now for almost 6mons and not one issue. Going down for 6mon cleaning and check up. They do all the work there and also have their own lab to build everything your mouth needs. They also do amazing full dental implant work from what I've seen in the pictures. Saw a couple while there that had had implants done and came from Canada to get them. This clinic is the real deal, I will not only keep going, but have recommended may friends to try the clinic as well. They are the best! read more

Honestly have had great experiences here. I had 5 implants, root canal, and cosmetic fixing on a few teeth. Really good service and the cost per tooth is just so much cheaper. $1500 an implant vs $3000 a tooth. That $1500 includes the tooth. They do Xrays and panoramic shots and I just feel like I don't get nickled and dimed to death . My implants were done 6 months ago. Today I had the caps put on and tomorrow five crowns. Gave me a shot in my bottom for pain because my gums were so healthy they grew really well over the implant. I'm telling you Dr. Lugo knows what he is doing. For implants come here. You can fly to SD and they will pick you up. Super easy and five minutes over the boarder. read more

My husband and I have been going to DentArt Center for 8 years. We live in San Diego so this is convenient for us. My husband has had several implants and I have had several dental procedures including a root canal. The reception staff is amazing. Dr. Claudia is super professional. My husband sees Dr. Lugo for implants and the first implant he did about 8 years ago is still strong. Sometimes the wait can be a little longer than expected but we try to remember that we are usually fit in for an appointment on short notice. Dr. Lugo is the most caring dentist we've ever met. His office is equipped with modern state-of-the-art equipment and is a pleasing environment. My husband got 7 implants with Dr. Lugo performing the oral surgery of removing several teeth and installation of the 7 implants there in his office. Do not be nervous about crossing the border because they will pick you up after you walk across, and drive you to their office, which is very close. Dr. Lugo arranged for me to get a root canal from the doctor next door, so I had that done while Dr. Lugo was working on my husband. This place may have the newest technology, but if you understand Spanish and are or were a patient, you'd find out that the doctor is an egomaniac, stuck up, controlling human. He would tell his nurse to do one thing then yell at the nurse for doing exactly what he wanted. The nurse may have an opinion that'd be best for the patient, but he would reject their opinion and do the opposite. Then the next time that patient came and complained about pain or anything else, he would blame the nurse. He then would only see his patient for only a couple of minutes out of time while he flirts with his staff. The way doctor LUGO runs his business would not have lasted in the U.S. We as Americans though comes to Mexico for its price, but unfortunately for dr. LUGO, this guy is married to a Latina and understands and hears everything he says and sees everything he does. I hope I can get this massage across to people before coming here and getting ripped off by DR. LUGO. He only cares and sees MONEY. There are lots of other dentist out there who will actually treats you like a human rather than sees you as dollar signs. read more
