I'll start by saying a don't have a lot of dental issues. I go for regular cleanings and Botox for my TMJ. They are always kind and welcoming, and I never feel like they don't care about my dental health. One star because the staff smiles pretty while they take all your money for guess work. That's the bliss they are talking about. Hang on...let us woo you into and throughout the nightmare. From cleaning, filling, prep, and paying the entire experience was the opposite of Bliss. I went here for the "bliss" experience because I knew I needed some dental work done and my past experiences at the dentist were horrible. So I needed to feel at ease with the process and equally important - needed good dental work... First question I was asked after they knew the above? So are you happy with your smile???? The cleaning was brutal and they hammered down with the tool on my mercury filled back molars till it hurt. They scraped too hard and said you have a little recession. Then they showed me a crack in said molars. Hmmm. Then they scraped too hard and said you have a little recession. Really? With all that torture you think there wouldn't be a problem? Then I started to experience pain in my teeth after the cleaning that wasn't there before. Another thing that makes you go Hmmmm... Maybe that cleaning was rough? After two crown preps and a small cavity filled and a list of future work to make any dental office turn into a multi-millionaire symphony hall - I went to the Endodontist and had two root canals on the crown prepped teeth. After Dental Bliss finished the crowns, I was in extreme pain for over a week and then my bite never seemed to be aligned correctly. One day it would be ok then the next week it wouldn't. Today, sometimes I get a pain where the work was done and then it goes away. When It came time to pay, the office seemed way over joyed at taking the money from the FSA Card. Whoops, I guess it only takes $500 at a swipe. :*-( Will have to swipe a few more times to get the over 3K they needed. As if they were playing a slot machine game with the card. They treated the whole process like it was free money to everyone involved...and that it is all covered by health insurance. When that money is actually taken out of paychecks and saved and then completely drained by them. So who would want to go back and get it checked after all of that? Not me. But I know I do need more work and I need them to follow up on what is going on with the work they did. We only have so much money for dental coverage and it's not covering what I need. That's not insurance's fault ONLY it is also the entire dental industry. Prices are fixed and they are over charging. And acting like they have no clue what it takes to cover the charges. As if the money was free. Plus they treat people as if it is the patient's fault because they eat sugary foods or don't floss. They had a whole spread of sugary treats out in their Liberacci piano lobby and it was like Twilight Zone when they asked me if I wanted some. Unfortunately I've just had bad dental work and it has nothing to do with my dental habits. I have friends who hardly brush their teeth and NEVER floss. Not one cavity have they had in their life! My next dentist will be one that gives back. Not to their multimillion dollar lobby and facility to swoon people into thinking it's blissful but to communities that need dental help in poor areas. Also one that doesn't look at people's mouths as a yacht payment for them or as if the patient's fault. I have yet to find a good practicing dentist. One that listens, acts accordingly to your sensitivities, and one that doesn't treat you like your dental work is your fault. read more

This place is Heaven. I'm 31 years old, and have always had horrible cavity prone teeth and too many visits to dentists (& Orthodontists). I've had bad experiences in the past with my visits growing up so would tend to procrastinate seeing my dentists or avoid all together. I'm new to town & since visiting Dr. G @ Dental Bliss, the way she & her DAs handled my teeth, I've come to believe they are actual angels sent from Heaven above. I had a great experience on my first visit, a cleaning. But when I went back a second time, not so great at all, in fact it was awful. I needed a crown, some bone fragment removed from an old root canal, and a filling- it was suggested I have them all done at the same time to save money on the anesthesia( in this case, nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas) and novacaine. It was no laughing matter, because it did.not.work. This seemed to irritate the dentist and because the rooms are not fully enclosed, I was forced to overhear the callous remarks of both he and his staff, which made me even more uncomfortable. I tried my best to inhale through the mask more deeply as instructed- nope. I felt like I was in a Chaffin's Barn Production of Blue Velvet. It cost more to do and hurt more as well- and kept hurting- and when I needed an adjustment to the crown that was not fitting right so I couldn't bite down, I had to go back-they charged me another $150 or so and would not give me anything for the pain, even though it hurt like hell. My cheek was swollen and bruised on the inside. This is not sedation dentistry- it's degradation dentistry. Five stars to the younger dentist who fixed the crown , did an excellent job and was genuinely kind and sympathetic- his name is Dr. Yesursky sp? I looked him up just now and lo and behold, he specializes in anesthesia. So although Dr. Atchley seemed like a nice enough guy and is probably fine in other areas like cosmetic dentistry, his poor judgement about performing these three invasive procedures in one sitting, and his underestimation of the subsequent pre and post pain mgmt required make him the obvious choice for a Chaffin's Barn production of Marathon Man. And the ladies out front? They'd be perfect for a middle school production of Mean Girls. read more

The first time I went, they told me I had 4 cavities. Went back to my regular dentist, he said I had none. Decided to give them a second chance. This time I did have cavities. They told me exactly what would be covered and how much out of pocket I would be paying. I payed the amount. Almost a YEAR later, I get a bill for over $700. They told me my insurance downgraded the type of filling they cover, so they no longer cover the ones I got. I called my insurance company, they told me the dentist was made aware of that before my fillings were done. Basically, they knew their white fillings wouldn't be covered, but told me they would be. Now they're trying to cover their asses by saying they'll take a couple hundred off the bill. I've already paid them over $3k!!! Still paying that bit off to my care credit card. This place flat out lies to your face. But they are so charming, you actually believe it. read more

I have major mixed feelings about this place.. I have major dental phobia so it sounded perfect to get sedation for my crown and several fillings. However, 3 times that I've been under sedation I was conscious for maybe half of it? The first time they kept saying I was fighting it and I swear to god I was trying with all my might to go to sleep, but the meds were just not working properly for me. They've tried adjusting it three times but pretty similar results each time. It was good enough since I was relaxed, but still not the completely knocked out experience I was hoping for. And as many people have stated, even with amazing insurance this place is extremely expensive. My only other complaint is that with both appointments for fillings, my entire cheek was so extremely sore for days afterwards and I've never experienced that before - maybe they're a little rough since you can't feel anything at the moment? I mean, very nice staff in my experience but now after paying 3000 after insurance, I'm worried I overpaid for treatment. I felt very put on the spot to use a care credit card and pay for everything on my first visit so make sure you know what you're doing and are willing to pay for! read more

Both clearly reflect their great leader/owner, Dr. Atchley. He is a wonderful dentist and one of the nicest men. Unfortunately on my receipt it told my how much insurance would cover, but it didn't actually cover it, so Dental Bliss bills you for it. Without insurance, this place is ridiculously expensive. I went to this crook years ago and after maxing out my credit cards to pay his ridiculous fees ,i find out that all the Root canals he did were drilled too far into the gums. nor did i need 7 root canals. Worst experience of my life. read more

My experience at the Dental Bliss in Franklin, Tn was not only horribly unprofessional. it was personally traumatizing. I went in with a direct mail coupon for teeth cleaning. The coupon was ignored and I was told I immediately needed to get my gums deep cleaned. This was going to take two 2-3 hr appts and cost several hundred dollars.After advanced X-rays I was given a long list of things I needed done. I was sent to the financial dept where the sum total estimate of all this work was well over $7000.00. I informed the person in the financial office that I was retired and on a tight budget. I could not afford the cost of these things. I very clearly let her know I'd been saving to have a tooth implant done this year. This office does not do implants. She suggested and pushed that I finance the work they'd suggested. I informed her I could not afford financial payments required, that I didn't like to have debt, and that it would be very stressful to me. I did, however, consider it preventive to have the deep cleaning done in order to prevent gum disease. This type cleaning took 2 appts and cost several hundred dollars. On the second appt, I'd been under gas for over 2 hours when someone from the financial dept (this is what the dentist told me) entered the room and ask if I'd like to go ahead and have my bridge done while I was numb. I'd already made it plain that I could not afford this procedure and that getting my implant was my priority for the year. They removed the gas for approx. 10 minutes. I was foggy and confused when I agreed to the treatment. I was moved to another room and the dentist proceeded with the procedure. She could not remove the tooth. I had a fun fledged panic attack in the office with hyperventilation. They let me drive home alone in this condition. This meant I had to see an oral surgeon the next day to remove the tooth.. This cost another several hundred dollars which I could not afford. Plus, I had no one to drive me home so this had to be done with only numbing. No gas or other. I was in severe pain for over a week, and it took several weeks for the gums to heal. In the mist of this, the temporary the dentist made to cover my exposed wounds would not stay on. I am now several thousand dollars in debt. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the unprofessional and unethical treatments, the dentist assured me I would be given a refund. A couple weeks later, with 4 teeth missing an a temp that had broken, I was informed by certified mail that they would not finish my treat and that I would not be given a refund. Thus, I had to find another dentist and pay $3000.00 to finish the procedure. All I can say here is: PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR WALLET. DO NOT USE THIS DENTAL COMPANY!! read more

I have only been to Dental Bliss once, but I will never go back. I was truly disappointed in this office. I reason I went was because of their TV ads; I should have know better. Since I knew I was not going back, I asked for my bill for that day and paid it on the spot. I told them my dental insurance did not cover a lot, so I wanted to just take care of the bill myself. Now 11 1/2 months later they are saying I total bill was $118 more than the bill they presented to me on the day of service. What a scam. I tried calling to discuss this, but had to leave a voice message. I ask someone to call me, but now a week later no one has bothered to call. Today I receive a handwritten note that tells me nothing. Beware of this business and their deceitful practices. read more

I absolutely love Dental Bliss. My friends are surprised when I tell them, "I love going to the dentist" now since they are aware of my previous severe aversion to dentists. This is the first dental practice that I don't feel taken advantage of, they actually care that I get my oral health in order. I pay out of pocket, without insurance, and have found the the cost to be more than reasonable. The receptionists treat us like family. The hygienists are gentle and friendly. Dr. Hord is expertly efficient and really cares about not only your comfort level but also about helping you regain confidence in your smile. I don't feel like I'm "at the dentist" when I visit, I feel like a guest in a good friend's home. I couldn't possibly hold this practice in a higher regard than I already do. I love it. read more

Dental Bliss saved the day recently. I needed an emergency appointment for an abcessed tooth. I called several dental offices including the one I've been going to for 8 years but Dental Bliss was the only one who would fit me into their schedule. Initially I thought I walked into a day spa. It has that feel and look. The staff were very friendly, treated me like a VIP, explained everything in detail, and provided excellent dental care. I highly recommend Dental Bliss. read more

Yes, the place is beautiful and the staff very welcoming, but 5 months after my typical dental exam with xrays and a basic cleaning I'm left with a $410 bill of which insurance only payed $72 (which I was told insurance would cover my expenses. . that was obviously untrue). This is because they overcharge on EVERYTHING compared to other dental practices. What is typically a $45 exam elsewhere will become $116. . .no, nothing high tech or new was used, poked and scraped at my teeth, looked at them and the xrays, and done. Everything else (bite wings, cleaning, and panoramic) billed was double to triple the normal amount, which of course insurance won't cover the insane amount they charge, and I can't for the life of me tell you why they charge so much other than there's a piano sitting in the lobby and fancy couches. Nothing exceptional was done to develop such an outlandish bill, and I will most definitely never return or refer to this place. read more
