The dentist there took time to make me comfortable I was so scared but they put my teeth first

If you're looking for honest, ethical dental care, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. My experience with Dentist of Buford has been extremely disappointing. There seems to be a pattern of exaggerating minor issues to justify expensive and unnecessary treatments. I've spent over $6,000 with this office, only to end up needing corrective work from another dentist and endodontist due to poorly done procedures, including root canals. That meant paying twice for something that should have been done right the first time. When I reached out to address these concerns, they were dismissive and took no accountability. The front office staff can also be very pushy when it comes to additional treatments, and their attitude noticeably changes if you decline. The lack of empathy, especially toward patients, is hard to ignore. I encourage anyone considering this office to read the negative reviews as well. I cannot say enough great things about the Dentists of Buford. I came in with severe pain from an infected back molar, and they were able to get me in immediately. Unfortunately, the tooth wasn't salvageable and had to be extracted, but they already have a plan in place for an implant. During that visit, one of the dentists also noticed a cavity on another bottom molar that was fixable. We scheduled a root canal and crown, and within just three weeks everything was completed. The crown looks absolutely beautiful. The entire team truly cares about their patients. The dentists were thorough, attentive, and took the time to explain everything. The front desk staff--especially the women up front--were amazing, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. I've seen some negative reviews and honestly don't understand them. Maybe the wait time can be longer at times, but the quality of care makes it completely worth it. They also offered the most affordable pricing by far, without sacrificing quality in any way. I was even able to get a payment plan, and the total cost was well below what other dentists quoted me. Dentists of Buford has earned a patient for life. Thank you all so much! read more

10/10 definitely recommend I was completely comfortable with even going to the dentist at first they walk you through your treatment plan and go over X-rays with you and everything. Environment is clean and modern. But after that, be prepared. I was quoted over $6300 for a root canal and crown on a molar. Yes, ONE molar tooth. I would've been responsible, as the patient, to cover just under 4K of the cost. Run away. Don't walk. read more

Absolutely the worst office to get Dental care. They misinform and use scare tactics to get patients to do procedure that are not needed in order to bill. Unethical and borderline illegal. Sent patient to get a 200.00 out of pocket test because they had detected a bacterial infection and antibiotics were needed. Guess what? test came back and magically NO BACTERIA or antibiotics required. read more

Our beloved family dentist sadly passed away. I tried this place, because it was on our insurance provider list. I had a tooth that was broken and had gotten a cavity. They told me that there was no way it could be repaired. They said my tooth needed to be pulled, followed by a bone graft and an implant. The price started at over 9k, but they "gave me a break" and got it down to 5k. They advised me to get the tooth pulled the very next day. I declined and went for a second opinion. The second dentist fixed my tooth in one appointment at a tiny fraction of the cost. Beware of this place. They only want your money. read more

My husband and son went there to have their teeth cleaned. They had 3:30 appointments but waited and waited and had X-rays and met with a Dentist but there was no cleaning after an hour and a half. They said my husband needed a deep cleaning not covered by insurance and that my son didn't need a cleaning but gave him an appointment to have cavities filled. Very sketchy. read more

APRIL 2024: This a new dentist office for me. Dr. Cabrera, Dr S, & Amy were awesome! Front desk staff was great too. No complaints. Dr. C was very thorough & personable. I didn't feel rushed at all like some dentists & their overbooked schedules. I had a root canal & crown done on a cracked, decayed molar; it was bad. Very quick process compared to my last dentist. No waiting weeks to get a crown made; made within a day or 2. I've never had a dentist's office where there's a screen that you can see your teeth real time & xrays right in front of you. They also have a lot of same day appts for other stuff AND you can book online, including new patient visits. Bring a jacket, because it's cold in there! I'll probably be going back in the near future to get more work done. Only reason I might not, is their financial transparency ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is for the financial process. In MY opinion, estimates & final bill should be printed & given to the patient to show what they're actually paying for/paid for. Never had to look at a screen at other dentists' or doctors' offices, without also being given the printout. I guess we're supposed to remember all that dental jardon & the prices for each one. He pointed at the highest price on the screen & said that would be worst case scenario. I worked in the medical field for over 25 years & we would print it out & give to the patient, even if we showed the same thing on the screen. I had to call the financial guy there for him to remind me of the breakdown (itemized statement) of EXACTLY what I paid for, after I had the procedure. He said he could email it to me. I said cool. Never got it. I asked for a hard copy of the estimate the first day I was there & he said he would have it ready before I left. He didn't & said he'll have it for me the day I come in for the root canal. Obviously wanted to review it before the actual procedure. Bills ended up being $2400, but I still have nothing to compare it to; just payment receipts. It's just better business & not so confusing to have a hard copy, especially when people are kicking out big money for ITEMIZED procedures. The payment plan info wasn't explained well either. Where is something to read about it & see terms, etc? I was only told I had 2 years to pay it off and no interest. Wasn't told about interest rates after the 2 years, etc. Where's the written info? Why am I playing 20 questions at the front desk about it? It was like pulling teeth (no pun intended) to get exact answers. I said forget it, I'll use my credit card. My degree is Healthcare Administration, so I'm not entirely clueless on good practices. The way it's being done is not good for transparency. It makes the financial process look unorganized, unprofessional, and/or shady. Great dentist office otherwise ‍ *****UPDATE!!!!: Had the above procedure in Apr & paid $2400 for one tooth. TODAY, 5 months later, I get a bill stating I owe another $370. That "worst case scenario" was BS; don't believe them when they say this is the total bill. You'll get another bill months later. To pay almost $2800 for one tooth is ridiculous. I have a couple of other teeth that need crowns. I definitely won't be back. Already switched back to my previous dentist; ONLY left because it wasn't as close as this one. Had a molar root canal/crown last year at my old (now current dentist) & it was $1887. Let me start off with the Front Desk. The women sitting there are Unprofessional. Next....., the "DMD" (Matthew Alvarez) for the site. He is very Impersonal and was rushing through the whole procedure. As if he had a plane to catch. As soon as the dental assistant Applied the Numbing Gel on my gums. He already had the needle out ready to stick my gums. He didn't even give the Numbing Gel time to start working. Before he proceeded to stick me with a needle in the same area. I had an appointment scheduled for 3:30 yesterday, I got there at 3:15 and my check in was already done days previous to my appointment so there was no necessary paperwork for me to do, i ended up kot getting called by the doctor til 4 the office was empty when I got there only one patient who ended up getting cared for by a different doctor. Before any treatment was started they asked what I wanted to get done, I stated very clearly I just wanted to get my periodical cleaning and the dentist i originally scheduled with assured me i would be getting one, hearing that i let them proceed to do the X-rays. after getting that done they sat me in a room and prolonged my treatment knowing they already had me waiting long the first time... only for a different doctor to come in and tell me this expensive treatment plan i needed without even looking into my mouth and told me my crown was put in wrong so it needed to get redone and stated it would be a white crown (she didnt even state options for that so i took that as another red flag) not only that MY CROWN WAS DONE 12 YEARS AGO! ive gone to plenty of dentist and even gone through surgeons to get my wisdom teeth removed never has any dentist told me it needed to get redone its been the same ever since. that being said it was coming closer to 4:40 she lets me know that there wont be a cleaning because of her "hygenist" that she would have to ask if they'd do it, only to then leave the room and come back to tell me id need a "deep cleaning" Then proceeded to poke at my gums for all of 2-3 minutes which i believed none of it... i had just gone to my previous dentist less than a year prior to this.. so they went ahead and started treatment after confirming id get what i went there for just to prolong the visit and get me to schedule a new appointment... NEW PATIENTS BEWARE THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME AND I NOW HAVE TO HOPE THAT THEY DONT CHARGE FOR SERVICES THEY DID NOT DO AND PRAY THEY GIVE ME MY X-RAYS!!!! Stay away and please read the reviews before you go to any office, i wish i did so before this i would've scheduled with another office who couldve done my cleaning and actually cared about my health rather than just trying to get patients to pay unnecessarily out of pocket suggesting treatments not even covered by insurance. after seeing other patients state they messed up putting in their crowns and didnt do their root canals right ot made the situation 10 times worse. im currently looking into other providers stay away from this office!!!! read more

Went there to establish myself as a new patient and to check it out before setting things up for my husband and kids. I am currently being treated with Invisalign by a doctor that I had before moving to the area. I literally just had X-rays and scans from my orthodontist the DAY BEFORE. They would not accept them to be sent saying they have to do their own. (I know this is not true) The doctor comes in to tell me how important it is to have a "deeper cleaning" (before even looking in my mouth) not to worry because it only needs to be done every 2-3 years. I tell her I had it done the year before almost to the day from my previous dentist before the move she becomes irritated... she steps out and tells me someone else will be in to explain the treatment plan to me. At this time I say I just really need to get back to work (it's been an hour all they have done is X-rays) I don't need the full pony show just tell me how much more $$$ other then my insurance I will need. I was there for an hour for them to only show me what the $2000+ cost in treatment was needed. That lucky my insurance covers all but $168 worth but I would have to wait 45 for the hygienist to "get to me" (it was just after 12:00 at this time I'm sure the hygienist had left for lunch. There were no other patients in the office.... ) I say that I can't wait the 45 minutes and will not be coming back later that day because I'm going back to work. But I prefer to not do the deeper cleaning and just do the traditional cleaning at this point. I received a follow up call from them saying the doctor will not do a traditional cleaning it has to be the deeper one. But if cost is an issue they have payment plans they can offer. I have already called my insurance company they have let me know this is called (refusal of care) and is requesting a full investigation. Lucky for me they left a voicemail saying they are not willing to provide only basic treatment. There is something about the dentist in the Buford area, they are all more interested in selling you treatment plans outside of the insurance that you already pay for. I've struggled as an adult to right the neglect I received as a child it has been a positive upward process, if I was a different person this experience would have be running away from dental work all together. if I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. such a terrible experience. and I am so disgusted with this practice and how they're treating their patients. I just moved to the state and got new insurance under my new job so I scheduled a dentist appointment with the closest provider and completely forgot to check reviews which I should have. They required that I do a deeper cleanse and explained that it would cost me $230 out of pocket. because my insurance cover the other couple hundred that the service actually cost. I have never needed a deeper cleanse ever in my entire 25 years of going to the dentist consistently so it was weird and I asked if I could just get a regular cleanse but they made it seem as if I absolutely could not just get a regular cleanse. They forced me to do this and sign up for a payment plan as I could not pay $230 on the spot and now I'm also battling with my insurance because they did additional charges on the claim that are now leading to a $1094 patient responsibility aside from the $230 I have to pay. All for a routine visit. I am so disgusted, and I hate that I even chose this place. Definitely do not recommend. read more

After three years coming to this office, we want to highlight that Elly, Dania, Veronica, Terrina and Dr. Huang, once again exceeded all our expectations for their cordial, humane, friendly, dedicated and professional treatment, as well as all the measures of hygiene, cleaning care, use of a mask and health precautions due to covid-19. However, my current visit 712/2023 was Horrible! I phoned 3 weeks ago to get a new treatment estimate on implants / oral surgeon. took up til last week to recieve a follow up call. Finally received a call back stating an oral surgeon would be available . During my visit today, I had to ask staff to wipe exam seats, the oral surgeon Dr Cho he could have done a better job.in my opinion was not able to numb me with local anesthesia and kept insisting that I be sedated. in all my nature years, I've never had an issue being numbed for any dental procedure. Even worse, he nor his Assistant provided me with clean gauges on my surgical wound, or wiped my mouth , I had to ask- it was horrific! I was very disappointed and they didn't go over my meds , nor call in my prescription gave me a hard copy to carry in myself. who does that anymore? gauges were left on top of my dental bib, grossed me out!!! that' did it! it! I immediately asked for a reversed refund by my insurance .. The front office is new as well, she's doing the best that she can, suggested I return and see another oral surgeon. I informed her about my visit and told her I would never visit there again! i tried to make it work, however I feel that 'Dentist of Buford,' does not have its patient 's best interest anymore. Overall great experience! The staff is extremely professional and although xrays were a little daunting, the dental tech was very comforting and accommodating. This place is VERY THOROUGH and I honestly believe they found a very early cavity that another dentist with 'regular' xrays would not have found. They also accommodated on the spot treatment to fill the cavity so I didn't have to book another appointment. The hygenist was also very thorough in examing my gums and explaining as she went along. I got a root canal done incorrectly here. I contacted the office to give them feedback and let them know that their doctor had not done my root canal correctly in 2020, and I am having to get it relooked at and possibly redone. They offered to make me an appointment, but I just wanted to provide the Office Manager feedback. She proceeded to talk to me with the rudest, condescending voice when I knew it wasn't her fault; I was disappointed. She says, very LOUDLY, "Well, Ms.Howard, what do you want me to do about it? I am not going to remove the last bit of money you owe us" All I wanted was for her to listen that I was not satisfied. The last $300 on the HUGE amount I originally owed on the account was not the issue; I don't expect them to remove that because I already agreed to pay it. Called in to this dentistry Tuesday morning with a unbearable pain from my wisdom tooth and everyone from the secretaries to the assistants and even the dr herself were very nice, helpful and accommodating. I was told over the phone that I wouldn't be able to get the tooth extracted until next Wednesday but, after my exam and verifying my insurance.
