When we arrived, the atmosphere was pleasant and we were initially looking forward to the night. I ordered a margarita, but it wasn't very good. The bigger disappointment, though, was the show. The performance felt much more like a high school drama/theater group than the professional improv experience we were expecting. A lot of the jokes fell flat, and much of the show didn't really feel like improv at all. We were genuinely surprised by the experience and disappointed enough that we decided not to stay for the second show, even though we'd already paid for it. There were some positives--the atmosphere was nice and the tickets were reasonably priced--but unfortunately the quality of the performance and drinks made this a disappointing date night for us.

From local to traveling acts, from punk bands and karaoke talent to gritty stand-up and flirty burlesque, this place has it. If you're up for a night that doesn't stink of ordinary, swing through that creaky door and take in a most memorable evening. If there is a cover, it's usually nominal. Drinks are cheap, served by a great crew that's always up for a laugh and cheers. Sometimes hitting the town isn't about getting fancy but just kicking back, and this is a great place to do just that off the mainstream treads.

I noticed a big red counter/clock on the wall across from us and after a few seconds we deduced it was a decibel meter. I'm curious if they have restrictions here for noise - AOK by me. The volume was generally alright (a little loud but what isn't?) and they actually had a sound guy in the corner making sure the volume and quality sounded good. More importantly, we couldn't get service. We were ignored by every employee working there. It was karaoke night and we really wanted to sing. We put our names in at 10 pm. When it was about 12:30, and the bar had emptied significantly we figured it would be time to sing soon. And then we noticed that the rotation had repeated without us. And then it repeated again. We asked the KJ about it and she told us that somehow there were 75 singers on the list and that we weren't going to be able to sing at all. It's a really small place and I don't think 75 people can even fit in there. (Yes,we tipped. $40 for the two of us) Anyone who's queer can tell when there's a reason for bad service. I was tempted to turn around and head back to my car. I'm glad I decided to ignore them and go in. I think the employee's name is Jack? He's a young, white guy and was already superbly friendly to the couple in front of me. There are also restaurants upstairs and nearby if you want to get a bite to eat first. Their policy for cell phones and smart watches where you need to put them in a sealed security bag is kind of a pain, but I'm guessing there's good reason for it. We might just leave everything at home or in the car next time. There is a two item minimum for each person, but we ended up with three each. My wife had two glasses of the house cab and one Butter Baby Java, which is a hot coffee drink with butterscotch schnapps and other stuff too. I had a house manhattan, which was ok, a Butter Baby Java, and one of the other coffee drinks...showed up as Coffee Tail on the receipt, but the name had more to it than that. That one was my favorite. Next time, I might just stick with that. All in all, fun night. Convenient to get to and home from, about as good service and drinks as you could expect, and funny comedians. Guessing we'll be back next time someone we like is in town.
