Awesome burgers and the best chicken noodle soup in the area. It's a typical dive bar with great service and great food..

This was last night at Depaulo's in Arbutus!! Joyce was our waitress and a great one.

Great burger .... Fries cold sitting in the window all night .... No fork or knife I asked for fresh fries and no questions about it and they were brought out .....if utensils and condiments was all there ready when meal came out with fresh fries ... it could have received a 4-5 ........

This bar is always packed with UMBC students and your local Arbutians. If you're not from the area, you might feel a little out of place when you first walk in, but have no fear, the staff is very welcoming. You really can't go wrong with the food here. They have a variety of flavors for their wings, and the mozzarella sticks are extra stretchy (see photos). I also hear that the burgers are the best in town. If you ever catch me eating fried food and washing it down with an ice cold beer, please... don't tell Tammy. Check this place out for food, drinks, and some good ol' fashion trivia (on Wednesday's)! Pro tip: if you park in the back, don't pay the meter (I've never gotten a ticket lol) - VVP

One of the coolest burgers ever... Pretty innovative for sure. Must be a half pound burger and has DePaolas branded on the top. I tried the deep fried burger and it was quite tasty. Do yourself a favor and stop up and try one and work from there!

For all my Retrievers at UMBC, and others around their area, this place is worth going to for the cheap appetizers and wings. The food, especially the burgers, are very good, and they have good drink deals during happy hours. The one thing that I do not enjoy is the slow service can make you a little hangry, so advise you to go on a patient night when you're trying to throw a few back and have a chill night. They sometimes have good trivia and karaoke nights. Peep the pics to see the dank food that will definitely make you feel chunky and happy after. ...are YOU gonna eat that?? c('o'c)

This was my first time here, I came for the karaoke. (I know the host) upon entering I noticed the warm red on the wall and dark wood. It felt cosy. There is even a couch in the corner. Bar section is separate from the low tables but not in a detached way. Good first impression. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating. (i tend to be picky) I got the cheese steak and a tequila Caesar salad. Yummy! Huge cheese steak sub. The bf got a pulled pork sandwich and fries. He seemed very happy. (it only lasted a few minutes before it was devoured) :) we will come back! It is also family friendly and plan to bring my son another night to sing a song. Nice crowd for a Thursday night.

Very poor service. Waited over 45 minutes for a burger. The bartenders were rude and showed favoritism over the guests. Do NOT recommend

They don't! If you are in the area though and want a good breakfast place I recommend Duesenberg's American Cafe and Grill!

I just recently started going to this NY Fried location. My first two experiences, were good…read more However, on April 29, 2024, I made the decision to not frequent this location again. Let's start with the first major concern, as I was placing my order I noticed a tray of uncovered, unrefrigerated raw chicken sitting by the fryolator. I proceeded to order a large potato wedges. When I enquired how long the current wedges had been under the warmer light, I was advised approximately 1 hour maybe longer. I asked for fresh wedges. The counter person advised it would take 10 - 15 minutes to cook. After I confirmed the wait time would be fine, He proceeded to load the fryolator with unwashed and ungloved hands. WHAT?!! Before I could address this issue, an order came in through their online or maybe DoorDash system. The counter person then proceeded to pull out the wedges he dropped, shook the basket, placed it back in the oil and added raw chicken to the same basket as the wedges. As I was about to address him, a previous patron returned to complain about the amount of oil in his wings and that they were not crispy. The counter person argued with him for 1 - 2 minutes, when an older man emerged from the kitchen area. The counter person then spoke in his native tongue with the older man. From what occurred next, I believe the older man advised to replace the wings. The patron discarded the old wings and received a fresh order. Now, this is where everything fell completely apart. When I asked about the chicken being mixed with the potato wedges, I was advised that's their normal practice, so they can fill orders quickly. Being Servesafe Certified, this is not best practices for a restaurant. If the same basket was going to be utilized, then the wedges should have completed their cooking process. The oil temperature should have been checked to ensure it was back to temperature and then the chicken placed in the basket to cook for the allotted time. When I explained, this process, I was told Baby, this is how we always cook our food (I also had to let him know don't call me baby, I'm a paying customer). When the counter person refused to make fresh potato wedges for me after the cross contamination, I immediately requested a refund and left this location. Please be aware of how your food is being prepared if you're going to frequent this NY Fried. From unrefrigerated, unwrapped chicken to frying multiple items in the same basket at the same time, you are taking a chance with your health. If I could give a zero star I would. However Yelp will only allow a 1-star review. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Now this place has seen better days, but this carryout has been here for a minute and we decided to go to see if the chicken boxes withstood the test of time. We placed our order over the phone: two 5 piece chicken wing combos with Western fries and a drink. We chose for our drinks the half and half ( iced tea and lemonade) and the triple mix ( iced tea, lemonade, and fruit punch). They also have a variety of snacks, sandwiches and fried seafood items, along with fresh salads and dessert items. We got there and we had to wait about 10 minutes before our order was ready. The lady at counter was pleasant and I swear, that could have been the same lady that's been here for a couple of decades. The ambiance was guarded, as this area is one you need to exercise caution when visiting, with a suggestion to visit as early as you can. We got our order and when we got home, it was still hot. The chicken wings were a nice size and fresh, crispy, well seasoned, and not greasy. The Western fries were nice wedges, hot and fresh, but did lack the seasoning that they had in previous years. The half and half and triple mix were good, but very sweet, even with the amount of ice in the drinks. All in all, a decent place to get chicken in the area.

I have been going to GL Shack off and on since the early 2000's. The quality changed during covid,…read moreso I started only focusing on shrimp, wings, burger, and their salads. Over the last few years their side salad went from having bacon and eggs to just lettuce , a couple carrots shavings, two sliced tomatoes and maybe two or three cucumbers. Saturday I was craving a steak and traffic was so backed up going to the restaurant I was originally going to, that I instead decided to just go somewhere close to my house. Upon sitting down I was told they has a berry mojito special so I ordered. It was not good so I only had two sips. Next I ordered the sirloin dinner that was on special. As soon as the sliced steal was placed in front of me I knew it would not be goid. It looked unappealing. Sort of like boiled meat instead of a grilled steak. I took a bite. It was so bad I asked for steak sauce. It was still horrible. I only ate two of the pre-cut slices and told the waitress it was by far the WORST steak I ever had and said I would have wings instead. The wings were good as always. This horrible meal ended up costing me $56 for the uneaten steak dinner, horrible mojito I did not drink, and the wings. The bartender was nice. I use to bartend and if I noticed a customer not drinking a drink I made, i would have asked if they wanted anything else, or I would have remade the drink. The bartenders were nice so I left an $8 tip . This ended up being the most expensive buffalo wings I ever had. I went with the Half Soup/Half Sandwich combo, the Shrimp Salad Sandwich and the Ham & Navy Bean Soup was delicious. The shrimp salad was really good with big juicy shrimps; really well-prepared and seasoned perfectly. My husband ordered the Shack Burger (medium rare with cheddar and bacon) and said it was a total winner. He loved the char-grilled flavor and said the patty was a great size. He did mention his hand-cut fries could have been a little hotter, but the texture and crispiness were spot on.
