A slight, soft-spoken masseuse named Ingri greeted me and I had serious doubts that she had the firepower to give me the deep, deep tissue massage I was desperately needing after a week on the road. Boy was I wrong. She did exactly what I asked, and intuitively figured out what I needed that I didn't ask for. It was as good of a chair massage as I'd had anywhere. If I could would give 0 stars! The manager, women who is in charge of scheduling is not trained how to deal with clients! Unethical and inappropriate and can't manage her clients and their scheduling! It's a waste of time as she can't book appointment! I came for 15 min massage(mg massage therapist was busy, so I stepped out to get water and when came back she gave my time to another person!). People who work in such a busy places and with multiple clients must be aware or ethics and have managing skills! Was a very unpleasant experience! There was no wait so I was fortunate enough to walk right in. I came to get a pedicure before my flight. Prices are extremely inflated as you would expect because it's in the airport. My pedicure alone cost $45. The service and my pedicure were fine, nothing spectacular. The only bad thing was when I sat to get my pedicure, the lady turned the water on and there was no hose attached. The water shot up all over me and got my pants and my bag soaked. She was nice enough to put my pants in the dryer, but that should've never happened in the first place. read more

I stopped in at gate C92 location for a 10 minute chair massage ($20 + tax)during my layover. Linda provided a good straight to the point massage. For 10 minutes I felt like a new person; right shoulder had a pinch in it now gone!! She gave an excellent massage, good pressure, found and focused on tension spots. Horrible!!! Maybe for a repeat customer they are great, but for a new customer they suck. Stood at the desk for seven minutes while the masseuse and nail technician both stared at me before asking if I had an appointment. When I replied "no, I would like to make one,is that possible?" The nail technician then replied "if you want to". I then replied, "I wouldn't be here for seven minutes unless I wanted to make an appointment". I immediately walked out. I am not a very picky manicure/ pedicure customer AT ALL, but my mani and pedi were BRUTAL. After my mani and pedi I sat for 20 minuteS just to be sure everything was dry. By the time I got on my plane, two toes were completely smeared. I have specs on my fingernails where the worker didn't clean off the nail filings. Unreliable spa. Unprofessional business. Disappointing. I fly every week for business. Apartment building in Manhattan had water problem last night so I intended to get hair washed and dried at Departure Spa (Newark Airport, inside terminal) before hoping a 9:15am flight. Arrived at the airport extra early and cleared security prior to 7am so that I'd have an hour and 45 minutes before boarding to have hair shampooed and dried. Despite the fact that the spa's website shows business hours from 7am to 9pm, an employee finally arrived 35 minutes late to open the business at 7:35am. When I inquired about getting hair shampooed and dried before flight, I was told "no, she doesn't come in until 9am." Wow. Airport spa that features a breadth of hair servies... but no employee is staffed to complete that work before morning flight departures. Unbelievable bad choice for a spa that (located in an airport) is intended to meet the needs of business travelers. Disappointing. Unprofessional. read more

As a self-described risk taker I get a real kick out of doing seemingly stupid things such as getting a haircut in an airport while waiting for a flight. To my surprise, things turned out alright at Departure Spa. The digs are bare bones for haircuts - crammed into the corner to make room for the other things. I think most people visit for spa services. The staff was friendly, spoke mostly only Spanish, and they seemed to know what they were doing. Very efficient and conscious of time. I was impressed with the service and the haircut. Only one experience of course, but I must say I would go back if ever caught in a similar pinch. read more

Tiffany is a real massage therapist! This place packs a punch, literally. I often wish I had the time and money to go to airport spas but i almost always avoid going because i assume the price is high and the quality is low. I took a chance on a 10 minute chair massage and was pretty much blown away by Tiffany. I just had the best back massage from Donovon. A couple nights in a hotel room bed had left me in pain with each step I took. Since I had a delayed flight, I figured I'd give a chair massage a chance. Usually after a massage I'm still a little stiff, but by the next morning I feel as good as new. I wasn't expecting a lot from a chair massage, but given how I was feeling I was ready to try anything. After this massage, I stood up and felt amazing.
