Got a mani pedi and they gave me a massage as well. So quick and amazing and at a great price point

They do a great job with gel manicures typically, however they use a chemical gel remover polish that has methylene chloride which is essentially an industrial paint thinner. Caused major burning on my fingertips (which they told me was "normal") and now my nails are paper thin and peeling. Since researching, I have found that this remover is banned by the FDA as it comes with skin irritation, burning, and is a known carcinogen. IF I go back, I will certainly not allow them to use this, however I am concerned that they even have it in the first place.... seems like they are just lazy and don't want to take the extra few minutes to take gel off properly - no concern for customers overall health and nail health. read more

My guy friend had a manicure appointment here. I walked in with him to his seat. They seemed busy and weren't able to attend to us right away. Two different people asked me if I was the one with the appointment while we were waiting for someone to get to us I decided to get a gel manicure while they started on my friend's manicure. They started my gel removal and then disappeared for awhile. Cindy eventually came and completed my service. She works very quickly and her work is clean. I thought my friend would have to wait a lot longer for me after his mani was done but Cindy had me ready to go in about 40 mins! Impressive! She checked that I was happy with the work before we went to the next step which I appreciated. I was able to ask her to file a little more here and there. She was really nice about making adjustments but my nail shape still wasn't consistent after asking her to file a couple times. Now that the gel is on the difference in shapes isnt even noticable but worth mentioning. Its been a little over two weeks since I had this set done and they are still going strong! No lifts or chips. I love how quickly they did my nails. If I was in the area regularly this would be my spot. read more

I've gotten gel and regular mani-pedis during their Monday ~Thursday deals and once on the weekend: I have to say their service is noticeably better then. I wanted this place to be my regular spot, but I came in on a Monday and though I was greeted by the manager, there were older white ladies from the neighborhood drying their nails who were kind of racist and rude. My attendant that day was really too fast, to the point of sacrificing quality (I forget what happened but when she left our desk for a moment I fixed a spot she missed on my own). I feel bad but I reflected my disappointment in her tip: As more people were streaming in, I couldn't hand it to her directly; she'd already moved onto the next client and the mama-san intervened to take it. I came to Golden Tree Nails and Spa after work and I was lucky to get a seat for a pedicure right away. My nail tech was great and she took really good care of me with a massage and pampering . she also did a great job with my nails taking extra care to make them look amazing. I appreciate the upfront warning about up-charges, if you want the premium nail polish, there is an up-charge, as well as for the quick dry product. The do not try to push these extras but they do warn about them in advance to avoid surprises. Excellent spot at a great price! read more

The place is very clean- I remember one time quite a few years ago- when I was still finishing doing my mani/pedi and they began their night cleaning, I was in awe to see how much effort they put in leaving the place spotless! Worst nail experience of my life. Do not go here. I called to make an apt. She goes ok see you 6:15, to which i responded 'do you need my name...' Get there and wait 15 to be seated. Sit there for 15 minutes before they put my nails in to soak. Sit there for ANOTHER 30 MINUTES before starting to file/drill my tips off with the machine. DO NOT COME HERE FOR TIP REMOVAL. They will have with wincing over and over. Then have my gel done and finished, and the same woman then starts helping my friend. Back to back. Not same time. We were there for two hours. Goldentree is THE best place to get your mani's/pedi's in downtown NYC. Firstly, when you walk into Goldentree you are greeted by multiple people and welcomed with open arms which automatically sets you up for a good experience. The next thing you will notice is how clean GoldenTree is. The place is immaculate. Also, it is typically very busy, which goes to show how popular the business is because they do a wonderful job. When getting your services done, the staff is extremely efficient without rushing and that is ideal. They are also very kind and warm at GoldenTree. You can just tell that whoever is doing your services that they care about you and the work that they are doing. That is important. Not to mention - GoldenTree is AMAZING. I wouldn't waste my time going anywhere else in the city (and I've tried almost everywhere) because they just do such a solid and good job and the perks are great too (complimentary back massage when getting mani). Plus, the price is RIGHT. Specifically, I love Ashley. Ashley has become a true friend of mine, who I can't wait to see every time I need to go back to Goldentree (which is 3 weeks because that's how great their dip mani is and lasts so long). I've been here a few times, but no more. They overcharged me and weren't clear on pricing for the services up front, then were extremely forceful about tipping each person separately in cash. A tip is a bonus, not an expectation. They expected and were demanding of tips. That is not the way to do business. Insane behavior and put a bad taste in my mouth. I want to love this place but I just can't. Both pedicures I've gotten here are so beyond sub par. Everything is done in a rush and each pedicure has had me in the seat for a maximum of 15 minutes. The mail shaping is shoddy and the exfoliation is a joke. I actually am often genuinely mad whenever I leave here. However, I have had decent dip manis and the free massages are a nice touch. Needed a full, she didn't bother to check under my nails because my real nails had grown just as long as the tip, but they weren't attached and noticed after the first nail came unattached and popped off the second day. I have a very busy schedule and as the week went on lost another one, second week came more and more popped off. Super glue would've done the job. But I have gotten infection before because the bacteria in between gets locked in. Charged over $200! for a pedicure that she told me I was getting a deal using a "package" and a very poor manicure that lasted a day/week. She even mentioned "oh my nails grow long" I honestly would've rather her take the nails off and do a new set, it probably would've been the same price. Never again see pics. read more

Quality has gone way down. I came here for at least 6+ years as a loyal customer then (about 2 years ago), I noticed that I was consistently getting sub par mani/pedis. Final straw was when my finger bled (and not lightly) after the manicurist cut deep into my cuticle (never happened before). I swore them off for over a year but because I had tried new places all around the area that weren't as good as GTN's was, and was in a crunch, went back 2 weeks ago to see if it was just a bad phase. Nope...I had to get some of my toes repainted multiple times after the lines were crooked and streaked on most toes. Not to mention, since I had last been there, the prices went up dramatically...inflation, I get it but this was over the top. Moral of the story...there's a lack of solid nail places around my area but given the waste of money here, it was worth a review for others. read more

I found them when I was living on 17th and 3rd and they instantly gained my loyalty with how friendly and efficient the staff and owners were. I have been coming here since I was a sophomore in college (for the last 10 years) despite the fact that I have moved 10 times throughout all of Manhattan. In all these years, nothing has changed in how friendly, welcoming and detail oriented all of the staff are. I always feel so welcomed and look forward to my biweekly gel mani pedis :).
