One of the playground across from our cabin

Lake George is saturated with motels and cabin resorts so let me make this easy for you. Over the years we've stayed at multiple locations around the lake as this is our vacation destination. Depe Dene is the perfect place to retreat as a couple or with family. 7 minutes town Square and grocery, 2 minutes to the deli and liquor store, restaurant next door. The private beach is at the end of the property, the kids enjoyed the pool, badminton, the playgrounds, private beach but there's so much more to do besides that and the price was perfect as we booked on the property site. My family (13) of us rented 2 cabins here to have a memorial for our 15yr old son who passed away one year ago. Cabin# 208 has 3 bedroom, was detached, clean, spacious, bed were comfortable, kitchen was equipped, and bathroom had toiletries and enough towels. The porch was my favorite; it was huge and private, It had a large picnic table on it, requested a second one and believe me; the porch was so big it could fit 2 more, and bbq pit at the edge. Nancy, Riley and other staff members were always ready to accommodate our requests. Suite 42 was beautiful, more modern look and style. Perfect view of the lake from the window and because it was at the end of the building, it was more private, plus it was right next to the playground which is perfect for the kids. My son's car tire went flat and they promptly sent maintenance over to assist. This will be our new family vacation spot as we go to Lake george every year. To the amazing staff we really enjoyed our stay, the way you guys went above and beyond to accommodate us through this difficult time. Special thanks to Nancy; you're a sweetheart. I highly recommend this resort.

I was surprisingly impressed with how updated and clean the room was, and you can't beat the price for unobstructed views from the room. The bedding and bed were superb. Check in and out was with a remarkable team member named Nancy. Although check in isn't until 4, I spoke with Nancy and she said she would have our room ready at 1 and it was. At check in, I mentioned that my sister had sprained her ankle right before we left to come to Depe Dene and Nancy immediately got an ice bucket for me. So sweet. Bonus - you park directly outside the unit so unloading is a breeze. There were plenty of lounge chairs at the beach along with a restroom. There were plenty of lounge chairs at the beach along with a restroom. The resort itself is very large with plenty of areas to relax from a large boat house deck to swings. Apparently this establishment is under-new ownership and they are working hard to update the facility.

We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds, it was very spacious and clean. There was only two draws to put our clothes so we each only got one. The shower was big, but the water pressure wasn't great. Overall, it was a nice experience and I would recommend staying here. Also there is a roof top which is very nice and has a view of the lack and mountais. You definitely need to check it out.

The room had two king beds, a small miracle for a man accustomed to one, and the soundproofing was a triumph of human engineering. Even with Oktoberfest raging below, once the balcony door was closed the silence was so complete that I could almost hear my own thoughts apologizing for existing. The hotel sits right on Canada Street, which is the main artery of Lake George's little heart. Shepard Park is practically across the street, full of families, music, and the particular chaos of people on vacation trying to have a perfect time. The staff managed to stay cheerful through it all, smiling with the kind of sincerity that must come from good training or good souls. Parking was a game of Tetris, but I was grateful for the garage. Once my car was wedged in, I had no reason to drive again. Everything that mattered was within walking distance. The rooftop terrace deserves a poem, though I am too lazy to write one. The lake spread out below, blue and calm, and for a few minutes I believed in peace on earth. There is no hot tub, which feels like a crime against nature. The patio outside the pool almost begs for one. Imagine sitting there in January, snow falling into the water, steam rising like forgiveness. The restaurant did not thrill me, and the prices made my wallet flinch. Still, it was a fine stay, the kind that makes you feel momentarily better about the human race before the bill arrives to remind you of reality. Four stars. A lovely place, too expensive for what it is, but worth remembering all the same.

We attend the yearly Tiki event across the road, and this was a 5-minute walk for us. The Tiki is ok, but very loud when the event is going on which makes it difficult to sleep until things end around 1am. Most of the workers at the Holiday Inn were friendly and helpful. Only one seemed to be sleepwalking at the front desk and never did send extra coffee pods to our room when we asked. So, I ended up walking down to the lobby to get coffee each morning (which honestly tasted way better anyway). We've already made our reservations here for next year.

The location is convenient and feels like part of our ritual now. The staff are almost uniformly kind and welcoming to our kids and us. They remember us, greet us cheerfully and make this feel like a home base. The outdoor hot tub was a particularly welcome amenity on this past brutally cold weekend and it helped us warm up a chill that seemed to go straight to our bones after time outside on the lake. It really is one of those few places that feels like a welcome retreat no matter the weather. If there weren't any flaws, this would be a much easier review to write. But there are flaws, and they are things that should have been tended to long ago. The rooms have definitely seen better days. Many of our dresser drawers barely opened. The refrigerator was hardly cool. Furniture had visible damage and some of the electrical outlets were non-functional or battered to the points that plugs fell right out f them. These are not deal breaking in isolation but taken together they left us feeling that the room was tired and poorly maintained. A little thoughtful maintenance or investment here could go a long way and make the rooms feel a lot more comfortable. Another disappointment this year was the breakfast buffet at TRs Restaurant. In years past it was a highlight and something our kids looked forward to to prepare for a cold morning out. This visit, the quality seemed to have declined and the selection felt smaller. The restaurant itself still has a lovely lake view and a cozy fireplace, and the service was still friendly and attentive, but the breakfast spread did not live up to our memories. So I find myself landing on a three star rating. If you take this place for what it can still be, it is a wonderful family resort with great staff and some truly nice amenities. But right now the condition of the rooms and some of the public areas combined with the breakfast experience hold it back from being the much stronger destination I know it can be. Here is hoping that ownership puts some money back into the property so it can recapture its full potential.

Unfortunately, I am not local, and by the time I visited, the decision had already been made. From start to finish, the experience fell far short of expectations. The venue itself is in need of updates and a thorough deep cleaning. The carpets were dingy, cobwebs were visible in corners, the windows were extremely drafty (guests seated near them were uncomfortable), and overall, the space felt outdated and in need of maintenance. One of the most concerning issues was the condition of the ceremony site. During our August visit to the site, we were assured by the wedding coordinator, that the outdoor area would be fully cleared of snow and ice. That did not happen. The exact spot where the ceremony took place and where guests were seated was still very icy (see photo), creating unsafe conditions. Watching my daughter-in-law carry my 14-month-old granddaughter across ice to reach her seat was stressful and completely avoidable. Clearing that area would not have required extensive effort. If a venue chooses to host outdoor winter weddings in Upstate New York, it should be fully prepared to maintain safe conditions and follow through on commitments. The placement of ceremony chairs under the deck was another issue. Guests had to endure people walking above them and ice falling intermittently. The chairs were not supposed to be under the deck but failure to remove the ice resulted in yet another commitment by the wedding coordinator that was not met. The rental properties affiliated with the venue were also disappointing -- dark, outdated, and priced significantly higher than comparable short-term rentals in the area. We ultimately rented a beautiful lakefront home through VRBO that comfortably accommodated 20 people and exceeded expectations. The rehearsal experience was equally frustrating. After standing around for over 20 minutes waiting to begin, I approached the coordinator to ask what we were waiting for, as everyone had arrived. I was told she was "lining people up," though no visible progress had been made. Ultimately, I felt compelled to step in to keep things moving. The wedding procession timing was also off, which added unnecessary stress to what should have been a joyful moment. This was the result of the chairs not being in the place they were supposed to be (due to the ice not being removed). Overall, the staff did not demonstrate the level of hospitality one expects for such an important life event, especially the wedding coordinator. The service felt disengaged rather than welcoming and attentive. Finally, the food was mediocre--overly salty, vegetables undercooked, and several appetizers tasted like they endured some freezer burn. The rehearsal dinner catering we got from Market 32 way surpassed the wedding food from the Lodge and was a very small fraction of the cost. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime (very expensive) event, and expectations for safety, professionalism, cleanliness, and hospitality are not unreasonable. Unfortunately, this venue did not meet those standards.

It is a nice location on a lake, though in March with the steam coming up from the ground we couldn't see much. Once we got inside, we were allowed to pick our table (8-person round tables) and had the opportunity to order 2 or 3 pancake breakfasts for $10/$12. We were actually warned by our server not to pick the larger breakfast option because it would be too much. We listened to his advice and found ourselves minutes later with two large (and very thick) pancakes and two frozen sausage links. I really like thick, stodgy pancakes and these were like eating four thinner ones. Maple syrup, a highlight of the tour, was real but came in tiny containers (likely to prevent waste... can't blame them). Orange juice, coffee, and water were available to drink. The food was good but the location seemed out of the way (even for this area, where everything seems out of the way) and there was little ambiance to the place. Some variety for the breakfast (eggs, cocoa, bacon) would have been appreciated. However, while driving around it I was able to see their cabins and I bet they would be fun to relax in over a weekend with a good book. I must remember that for the future.
