When I visit my family in this town, I always go here. Everything I've ordered from apps, main course, and dessert has been nothing short of amazing. The service is usually wonderful as well. A few times, we've gotten a rude female that obviously doesn't like her job. Oh well, I'm a wonderful tipper and she just misses out on the above and beyond that I give. Her loss. Celebrated two birthdays at the Depot Wednesday with a party of 7. Our Service was excellent, the usual 5 Stares! The food was just OK, not up to the usual 4-5 Stars. Wife ordered the Depot Burger, cooked medium, and it came well done! I ordered the Big City Reuben and it was awesome as usual but I could only give it 4 stars instead of the 5 it deserve! Why you ask? .......... Well I have eaten Reunen sandwiches all over the country and the Depot in the only place I can remember that doesn't serve a Reuben with a Kosher spear pickle or two! So, if you order The Big City Reuban from the depot, don't expect a Kosher pickle with it cause it ain't gonna happen! ‍ read more

Ok first. I loved this place so much we were going a lot. And I hate to even write this but it seemed to be an ongoing thing... I found 2 hairs in my food on one day we were in there and I honestly wanted to just let it go and hope it was just a mistake. But then went back again and found hair in my sandwich. So I thought ok I'm not going to say anything online but my best friend came into town and I wanted to take her here cause I love the food she got a burger and she had a hair in hers and I hadn't even mentioned the experience I had my hairy burgers. Darn it. Someone needs a hair net in the kitchen or please. And although offering free dessert for the hair each time is nice you kinda lose your appetite and don't want anymore food. Drove through town and happened upon the Depot and boy are we glad we did. Decorated just as you'd hope a little spot in historic Springfield on the train tracks to be. The smoked duck salad was easily one of the best salads we've ever had. The duck was smoked so beautifully, perfectly tender and was complimented by the apples and pecans. We will definitely stop back in when we make it back that way again! read more

We had a large group and our server never let anyone run out of drinks, took orders in an organized manner and passed out the dessert menus when appropriate. Overall not bad. 3.5/5 the food was decent. Catfish thibideaux was decent but i have never heard of etouffee with mushrooms in it. The service was ok and my drink never got empty. The server didnt intro himself to anyone, not just us, but he was friendly. All in all would return again read more

Ultimately this was a solid 3.5+, rounding up to 4 stars for overall pleasant dining experience. The location is nice, a really cool building in Springfield. It is however very small so if you're there on a Friday evening for dinner as we were recently prepare to wait for awhile. It's worth it though and we weren't in a hurry. The absolute best thing I ate here was the smoked duck quesadilla appetizer. The nuts gave it a crunch texture that really worked, the duck was cooked perfectly, the horsey dip was just the right touch. While not on tap (no beers on tap) they do have a solid selection of bottled crafts and most run around the $3 mark which is ridiculously fair. An interesting cocktail menu to boot. Though not pages long the menu is stuffed with variety which made our entree choices a bit tough. I ultimately went with the cajun catfish dish (can't remember their title for it). The fish was blackened perfectly the etoufee on top was delicious. The mac and cheese is creamy and great, the fries super crispy. While my wife's burger was underdone they quickly remedied it for her without complaint and gave her fresh fries to boot, she enjoyed it thoroughly. For dessert we opted for the dark chocolate creme brulee--I've never seen creme brulee come in a dark chocolate option so we had to give it a go. While not fired at your table (and quite possibly pre-cooked as it wasn't hot at all) it was really tasty though a hot sugar curst would have sent it over the top. So for appetizers, entrees, dessert and a couple of drinks our bill was only around the $50 mark--Wow. I have to come back to try their steaks among other things. read more

This will be part of our regular rotation. Springfield has a gem here. When I pulled into the lot and saw the enclosed patio with decorative heaters, I felt welcome and cozy, mission when I was seated. The waitstaff and owner, I assume, were all accommodating and attentive, with Thomas taking great care and making a great recommendation on both the voodoo pasta (shrimp is deveined and they can go light on the sauce) and smokestack chicken (the chicken was perfect). I loved the vegetable of the day, sauteed squash just fine enough not to be hard and soft enough to absorb the seasoning. Many who sat near us were friendly and added to this kind of Cheers feel. The chocolate caboose deserves it's own paragraph. Mousse on top, and a dense something chocolate with nuts and white chocolate chips, is the newest part of my dreams now. I mean wow, and rich enough that I didn't mind sharing. Even the plates are a cool design. read more
