Loved our visit to Der Biergarten last Saturday. Festive and fun atmosphere before the SEC Championship football game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The place was crowded, but we were lucky to get seated at a shared table in the dining hall. It is located behind the main patio. When the weather is right, the garage doors provide an open, outdoor dining experience. I ordered a pretzel and beer and it was excellent. One of the best pretzels ever. I found it! A real Beer Garden with authentic food and beverage. A great experience! This place was very crowded when we showed up. So my son and I bellied up to the bar and started browsing the beer menu. SOOOO many great options. I am not even going to bother to recommend a beer as there are too many solid options to choose from. So pick one and enjoy! Once that is out the the way, don't you dare leave without having some food. We sampled a few items that they were both outstanding! We first ordered the Wurstplatten Platter (the three Wurst option) and it was fantastic! The sausages were cooked perfectly ... and there were 3 types of mustards to select from on the counter that were all delicious. But here is the real measure of quality. Was the sauerkraut and the German potato salad going to meet the standard? YES!!! Both were amazing! I almost shed a tear (of happiness). Next dish was the Jagerschnitzel. OMG! This was the winner! Very well prepared over a bed of spaetzle. But what made this dish was the sauce. A perfect blend that complemented both the schnitzel and the spaetzle. SOMEONE AT YOUR TABLE MUST ORDER THIS. Could not get into this place. It's only open Wednesday through Saturday and we were in town for a trade show. We liked this place in the past, especially the spaetzel. This time we were ready for Wednesday and they were also closed, booked for a special reception for a group from the same trade show. I was in Atlanta for a weekend and this place was close to the hotel, so gave it a go. Great selection of beer, which was the main purpose of trying this out. What threw me off was that some staff was amazing, while others had no interest in patrons whatsoever. Overall it was a fun place, just get rid of the dead weight! read more

My partner's family is of German descent, so trying German cuisine across the state has become quite the pastime! We recently visited Der Biergarten with our family on a Sunday for dinner. Location: Settled in downtown Atlanta right near Centennial Park. The restaurant sits above a Waffle House and in between several other yummy restaurants! Parking is easy. Parking deck located across the street for $10, but the restaurant validates! Service: We were seated immediately. All servers were wearing masks. Our server was prompt and polite. Overall great service. Food: We started with a giant pretzel and added a cheese spread along with it. The pretzel was very good; however could have done without the cheese spread. It was very thick, a bit salty, and a little could go along way and almost overwhelmed the pretzel. All of the mustards served alongside were decent! I order the Wurstplatten platter for my main dish, choosing the knackwurst and bratwurst as the main meats. It was also served with bread, sauerkraut, and potato salad, all of which was delicious. The knackwurst was well cooked and tasted great. I've had my fair share of brawts and I didn't love the bratwurst that was served with my meal. It was okay, but the texture was a bit thick and lacked a savory flavor. But would order the platter again and get double knackwurst next time! Overall, I'm happy to have a German spot ITP and will be back to introduce more friends to this cuisine. read more

Jeremy and I both enjoy German food. We discovered this Biergarten in the morning on our way to the aquarium. So when done, we headed here for a late lunch on the patio. I did go inside to use the very nice and clean restroom. I would say, I'd even come back to eat in the main dining room- nice decor there. Plenty of German beers to choose from, but no German wines. How sad. Glad we decided to share the schweinshaxe, it was a plate created for Fred Flintstone. A massive pork shank well covered in herbs and served with sauerkraut. We also tried the Ruben rolls, ok but a bit greasy and dry for me. The kasespatzle is like a German version of Mac n cheese- delicious spatzel with caramelized onions and emmentaler cheese. Yes please. Lots of great looking other items on the menu. Service was good. read more

Greeted immediately by a friendly hostess and sat on the patio. She cleaned and sanitized our table first too! Our waiter came over and took our drink order. He made great suggestions for our beer choices and was very knowledgeable. We ordered a couple appetizers. The meat and cheese tray was tasty. Nice selection of cold cuts and cheese with some grilled bread. The potato pancakes was disappointing. No flavor and pretty bland. The schnitzel was delicious! Generous portion which I could not finish. I liked the potato salad. It's vinegar based and non traditional but very tasty. We ended with the strudel which was also well done. Overall a great meal. Our server was great, checked on us often and the manager even came over to ask if everything was satisfactory. Definitely a nice spot for a good meal and great beers! I'm not sure how "authentic" the food was, but for an urban area large restraint I'd say it was pretty good and the decorations inspired a feel of Deutschland. I found the service lacking, very lacking. When asked, what her fav thing on the menu was our waitress had an answer. When asked her second favorite thing, she told us she didn't like anything else there. Strike 1. We had to ask for refills on our water, because an empty glass wasn't indicator enough to the person whose sole job is to take our order then deliver our food to us. Instead we had to ask for refills, and she didn't come around very often to check on us. Strike 2. I ordered a lambic with dinner. I'm ok that it wasn't as good as other lambics that I've had before, even though it cost an astounding 9 dollars. No, I had to ask our waitress when she delivered our dood about my beer, and she blamed the bartender. Strike 3. Would I come here again, meh... I'm on the fence. The food was ok, but the wait staff should spend some time at the restaurant under them to learn some customer service skills. read more

We ate here at about 5 on Saturday. It was a little busy but there were still tables available and it didn't take long to get seated. We had to wait close to 10 min before the waitress came over to take our order. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and our food. The drinks came out quickly but then it was quite a while and then our meal came out. Our appetizer came out probably 10 min after our meal. I had the sauerbraten and it was extremely dry. The gravy was good and helped but I still had trouble choking the meat down at times. The waitress was nice but did not meet our expectations, nor did the meal. I would not eat here again. read more

We came here for lunch on a Saturday. Initially the place was empty, which was concerning to us but rapidly filled. The food and beer options were impressive. The pretzel was served. Perfectly warm with multiple mustard options. It was enough for everyone (6 of us, including 2 kids) at the table to share. The schnitzel was perfectly fried, and the red cabbage was very good. The cheese spätzle was overly cheesy, more of a mac & cheese style, but still tasty. Though I would not consider the spätzle traditional. I was excited to get to drink Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier since haven't had in draft since being in Munich! Would love to come back on a nice day when we can sit in the beer garden! read more

We come here once a year while in town for a conference. Food, as usual, is amazing. This year the service was incredibly subpar and we waited nearly an hour for our checks,only to be rather rudely told if we wanted separate checks ( I know, its a pain but we have expense accounts to to answer to) it would be another 20-30 minutes. Nice place to go have a beer if you are around the Coca-Cola museum or aquarium in Atlanta. They have a large German Beer selection and the food menu is what you would expect of any Biergarten in the states. I had the Jagerschnitzel with spetzle. The Jgerschintzle and its sauces was ok, nothing outstanding. The spetzle was very good. My biggest complaint is the price. $21 for a plate that was not that large. Don't get me wrong I was full, but it was just not $21 impressive. I understand that you are paying for "Specialty" food in a prime tourist area, but just a bit much in my opinion. All in all if you are in that part of town with the family and want something to eat were you do not have to drive and can have a beer check them out. Just be ready to drop some $$. After spending the morning at the aquarium we stopped by Der Biergarten for lunch. I had studied abroad in Austria pre-Covid and missed the German cuisine so this place hit the spot. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on the patio too with only a short wait. The pretzel was big, but not giant and came with three different types of mustards. The one in the picture had a strong kick to it but the other two were more mild/sweet. The potato pancakes with applesauce was also surprisingly pretty good combo and the cheesy egg noodles were my favorite. The service was also very good. read more

It's a rare treat to be downtown, so I was delighted to get the chance to have some delicious German food. We went on a day when there was a soccer game at the stadium, so the place was packed. The hostess, after telling us it was going to be around a 90 minute wait for a table, helpfully suggested we check the bar for seating. Fortunately, there were two spots at the bar, so we sat down. The bartender who served us was so friendly and answered all of our questions. The other bartenders were also efficient, professional and friendly. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and were given plenty of time to enjoy it, which was greatly appreciated. The pretzel came with 3 different mustards for dipping: spicy, sweet and stone ground. They were all yummy and a great compliment to the fresh pretzel. We both ordered jaeger schnitzel for our entree, and it was a big portion that was tender and flavorful. The spaetzle had just the right amount of cheese and was great for soaking up the delicious mushroom gravy. While we ate, we were entertained by a singer who was quite good (and not too loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation.) The atmosphere was fun and made us feel like we were transported to Germany (or at the very least, the German pavilion at EPCOT!) Oh, and the beers were cold and delicious. We were in town for work, looking for a close place to get a drink and a bite, and Der Biergarten didn't disappoint. This location is on the second floor, above the Waffle House. They have indoor AND outdoor seating. Beer options here are good and unique. They have a range of German craft beers, that are served in liter (or half liter) glasses. They also have a full bar, if you aren't interested in the beer of the German people. Food is German fare. Portions are large, and plates are presented well. PROPS: Neat spot to get a different type of food and beer in Atlanta. SLOPS: When the weather isn't great, outdoor seating isn't very exciting. Indoor seating is limited. read more

So I have now been here five times with four different groups of people over eight years and every time it has been excellent. Is there anything that you should eat if you're counting calories for this meal? Probably not, but it all tastes great, the wurst are smaller than the average butcher sausage but taste incredible. The pretzel is perfectly baked and the three mustards complement it very well. I do wish the cheese you can add was a melty dipping cheese, but that is a small quibble. The Käsespätzle is cheesy and has a wonderful texture, the jaegerschnitzel was enormous and could probably feed three adults, and my two most recent companions loved it. The beer is great, of course. The place is loud, but the staff is great. In fact, this time I left my prescription sunglasses there and they were closed the next day. I called a couple of days later and Tina, one of the managers, took my information and sent them to me personally! I would have given this place five stars anyway but I was so happy and grateful for this that I will definitely be coming back for every game day trip. read more

Der Biergarten is a must visit restaurant in Atlanta, GA. My wife and I made a trip to Atlanta with the intention of eating incredible food each night. We stopped here Mid-day and it was the BEST MEAL we had during our trip. I love a place that knows their product. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When I asked our server what I should get, his instant response was the Jagerschnitzel. He said to me "hands down, the best thing on our menu". Would I eat there again? ABSOLUTELY Take your family? Food is delicious. Service was impeccable - better than most upscale restaurants with "new" staff - our waiter knew what he was doing and knew well how to take care of our group of 10. We had two of the family platters for 6 (and feel Like we had enough to feed another 10!). The atmosphere is great, I felt transported to a Biergarten in Bavaria! Beer was crash and wine good veal was a little tough. Spoetzl was very good, and the red cabbage was delicious.

First off want to really give this place 6/5 if I could! The beer is ridiculously great and the servings are incredible for what you pay. Unfortunately, the food is okay at most. My family and I... we don't really come for the food but we will usually order a little something to compliment the drinking. The service has always been really great here too with the occasional wait despite the slow day but it's never anything to bother you once you've got your drink and food. The atmosphere is a huge bonus that makes it that much better to enjoy your visit. It feels like an old German village in there. We always make a visit here but we do tend to sometimes eat somewhere close beforehand or after at a chic fil a nearby (a couple stores down I believe). 100% worth the visit and worth getting drunk here or sampling a beer or too if you're not feeling too wild read more

Food was great. As was the beer. It's too bad the customer service from the bar and host stand was awful. My server was friendly and provided great service. As soon as I walked in, the girl at the host stand seemed annoyed I was there. I said "just 1" and she told me the bar was open seating. Didn't give me any other options. I went to the bar and sat there for 5-10 minutes. While there, everyone else was getting helped on the right side of the bar while those of us on the left side were left alone. I wasn't even approached by an employee and the bar top was filthy. There was another bartender but he would only help a party that was being held. I went back to the host stand and asked to be seated at a table so I could get help. She said "the bartender is helping other people. Why don't you just get some patience." I replied that I've been there for almost 10 minutes without an acknowledgment and I'm hungry and just want to eat. She then rolled her eyes and sat me at a table. Service after that was very prompt. The beer was warm and the food was blah. Other than the service being adequate there really isn't anything nice to say about the establishment. Ordered a beer it was out of stock, ordered another it came but slightly on the warm side. For food we ordered a pretzel with cheese and charcuterie board, they ran out of melted cheese for the pretzel and the board consisted of 2 slices of deli cheese cut in quarters and slices of sausage which only be compared to pre packaged stuff you find at Walmart. If your coming here to find some good German food you're at the wrong establishment. read more
