Came here craving some authentic and strong beer after a day of doing touristy stuff in Atlanta. This place definitely stood out with its big open air second floor and German theming. Once I saw the menu chock full of premium German beer served in massive steins of 1 liter I knew I was going to hang out here for a bit. I had the Paulaner Salvator, it was intense, strong, and after a liter... yep I had a very good and relaxing night.

I was blown away eating here. It was my second time visiting, but I haven't been in years, and the food is 10x better than I remember it being. My party of 4, including a toddler, walked in on a Saturday evening around 5:30 pm without a reservation and were seated immediately. We did have to walk up a flight of stairs, and I am unsure if there is an elevator. As soon as we sat down, they started handing out cups of free beer! We also ordered our own and they have a huge selection of German beers on tap, plus cocktails and other bottles of beer. We started the meal with the pretzel appetizer, and wow! It was soft and freshly baked, and it paired perfectly with the mustards. The honey Dijon mustard was my favorite of the three. We then got our entrees, which blew me away. All of the plates of food were massive and so incredibly delicious. It is definitely worth the price. I loved that I could substitute my sauerkraut and potato salad for two other sides, and I am so glad I did. I instead got the Spätzle (pasta) and Rotkohl (red cabbage) with my bratwurst, and I have never been more happy eating German food. Everything was seasoned great, tasty, and importantly, not overly salty. Our waiter was incredibly kind and helpful with the menu. The place is spacious and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I am glad I visited again because I was reminded how delicious this place is. I will definitely be back! If you're in Downtown Atlanta, whether for a game, an event, or to do the tourist attractions, this is the place to go eat.

I love coming here. This is the only restaurant I will willingly drive to Atlanta for and pay for parking. The food and service is always great. The decor is so cute. You can sit inside or outside. I've been here a few times and yall have been consistent with service and I appreciate that.

Fun time despite no AC! A few appetizers (pretzel, meat and cheese tray and a couple of others) delish beers and the King Ludwig platter fed our large party. What fun! The food was very authentic to what we had in Germany. Everything was really tasty and traditional. It was upper fun to try a little bit of everything and eat family style. Service was great.

Absolutely amazing place to go grab dinner with friends or a group. Outdoor or indoor alike, genuine German flare all round. I love authentic beer gardens like these having hit up many when living in Italy years back. The original owner Wolfgang comes out to greet people and say hello, I love that! The food in spectacular! Try the Schweinshaxe (crispy pork knuckle) as it is delicious! It feeds 2 easy. The sauerkraut it's served over is on point! The brined red cabbage is equally genuine and tasty! Get a side of that if you want real deal German fare on your lips. No beer on my visit but the options were vast. No loss yet as they had a native German white wine on the wine list I enjoy Gewurztraminer! And it is good! I can't imagine how fun it would be to come back here again with a group during a big soccer game, I'm sure it's a blast! So jealous that Atlanta has this, nothing like it back near home for me in West Texas.

I'll admit that my expectations were low when I came here because the Mr. said he'd hang out here to watch soccer games. I thought the food would be subpar. But I enjoyed my first visit! The staff was friendly and we were able to snag spots at the bar even though it was game day for the Atlanta United team. The Reuben Rolls were yummy. And when we said we'd be splitting the Chicken Schnitzel, they brought it out separated for us which I thought was a nice touch (I still stole a few of Mr.'s fries per usual, though). The entree was great and I'd order it again. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I liked what I ordered--even though I didn't pay attention to the sizes! It was all good!

Very authentic german restaurant, food was amazing, seating inside is very german, long tables, sometimes shared. Outdoor dining patio is amazing too. I didn't take more photos because I was starving . Service was phenomenal. I highly recommend if you like german food. The rinderrouladen was amazing!

My mom and I went here for the Schlagerparty that was being hosted by the Goethe-zentrum Atlanta. We typically don't venture out here due to how far away it is from our town but we make exceptions now and then. The location was a little odd due to the restaurant being on top of another restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered two potato pancakes with apple sauce, one sausage, and a apfelstrudel. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was a little slow but accommodating. We'll be returning this Saturday for the next schlagerparty.

I am not sure this was a good pour. This was served to me, less than desirably cold. Overall atmosphere and server were nice though

Positive - food came out in less than 10 minutes, workers were attentive, and food tasted great. Down side - I was dining by myself and they directed me to the bar when I would've preferred a table.

This was a wonderful time. We were not doing well in Atlanta and definitely needed a pick up. As I suspected the food was authentic and pleasingly welcome. Of course I over ate. It's a Biergarten. Right? The atmosphere is very reminiscent of a German Biergarten. It's dark with strategic lighting for that intimate experience. Many of our people are overweight and unattractive, so best to dim the lights. lol. The service was excellent. I even taught the server how to cuss in German. I can't discuss the topping-off-of-the-steins; you can trust me when I say they'll take good care of you. Pro Tip: if you have 5 or 6 folks in your party, consider the König Ludwig Platte. For $135 you'll get bratwurst, jägerschnitzel, wiener schnitzel, knackwurst, sauerbraten and a whole roasted chicken. It also includes sauerkraut, potato salad, red cabbage and spätzle (a German pasta). It's the best way to sample all the different flavours and there is something for everyone. Lecker! They have over a dozen drafts. I recommend the Gaffel, Kölsch or the Rothhaus Tanen Zapple, relax, it's a mild Pilsner that you're goona love. 11/24

#42 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) In ATL for business and this was just a few blocks from my hotel. I lived in Germany for 16 years so always eager to get a taste of home. It's set up like a biergarten which I liked. We were seated right away. I ordered a dark beer (can't recall which one) which was really good. For dinner I got the bratwurst plate. You can choose if you want the same two wurst's or one of each. I got one of each and it came with saurkraut and kartoffelsalat (potato salad). I also ordered a side of spatzle as I couldn't pass that up. The food came out pretty quickly. I really enjoyed everything but of course not fully authentic to what I ate when living there. I did enjoy that there was a selection of 3 mustards on the table and they were all pretty flavorful. Not bad if craving a taste of Germany.

Der Biergarten sticks with the classic "German biergarten in America" formula - German beers and food. No crazy fusion stuff, becoming a modern tap room, etc. Beers here are ~$11 for .5L & ~$16 for 1L. You see the usual suspects, like Weistephaner, Hofbrau, and Paulaner. Food options include large pretzel, misc wurst, kartofel (potato salad, but German and better), schnitzel, spatzel, etc.

One of our kids has a peanut and tree nut allergy. Is it easy to find "safe" options on your menu?

Good Morning, William! Yes, it is safe. We have 2 desserts that contain nuts: the cake contains nuts, but it is actually made at a local bakery so we do not have nuts anywhere on our kitchen line. The second, house made Apple Studel does not…

Do you sell liquor as well as beer/wine?

Hi Kara, sorry for my late response. Yes! We do have a full bar.

Do you sell strudel? What flavors and how much?

Gasthause Tirol is an authentic German and Austrian restaurant. One look at the menu confirms it. Known for traditional German dishes like schnitzel, bratwurst, strudel and an actual Bier Garten with a nice selection of German beers on tap After perusing all the delicious looking menu items I went the Sample Plate. A Trio of tasty meats. Winer Schnitzel, Sauerbraten and Debrezina sausage some veggies and potato dumplings. What a tasty meal and the gravy was exceptional. The tall cold and very smooth Hacker Pschorr Dunkel was a delicious dark beer to complement the meal. All the desserts are homemade and I couldn't decide between the Apple Strudel and the mysterious Black Forest cake. The sever said the Black Forest was her favorite so I went with it. It surpassed all expectations. So moist and the whip cream was just heavenly. I was there for lunch but they do take reservations which is highly recommended for peak times.

Unfortunately, the service has consistently been incredibly SLOW, and this last visit was unacceptable. The restaurant wasn't busy at all--we were the first guests to arrive. In fact, I purposely planned it that way because I know the service is usually slow. We timed everything because it was so noticeable. It took about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Then another 5-10 minutes just to receive our drinks. Our server took our order and then completely disappeared. About 30 minutes later, she brought our sandwiches. She asked if we needed anything else, and then disappeared again. We finished eating in about 15-20 minutes, and after that, we waited another 40-45 minutes before she came back. From the moment she dropped off our food until we finally saw her again, it had been about 45-50 minutes. During that entire time, she never checked on us once. We had planned to order dessert, but by the time she returned, we couldn't wait any longer. We had to ask for a to-go box and the check because we were already running late. Looking around the restaurant, we weren't the only frustrated customers. One gentleman nearby was visibly upset as well. For three sandwiches, our meal took almost two hours. That's just crazy. It's simply not reasonable. It's disappointing because the food is excellent, but the service has become such a recurring issue that it's making us question whether we'll come back. A restaurant this small should be be able to provide a much better dining experience. I honestly can't think of a good explanation unless the server was also hosting, cooking, preparing to-go orders, or doing multiple jobs at once. I don't know what was happening behind the scenes, but something clearly isn't working, and they need to figure it out. The food deserves better service than this. My only advice is you're gonna go and have lunch there make sure you have at least a two to three hours

We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, but were told our table was already ready, so we were seated. (The restaurant tables are very close together, so be aware that if anyone in your party is wheelchair bound, it may be difficult for them to maneuver around.) The restaurant is kept very warm inside, and I'm usually someone who feels cold easily, but even I was rather hot. A woman brought water glasses and a water carafe to our table and said, "If you want something besides water, just let me know," and then walked off. So, in my mind, that woman was a food assistant or a food runner. Turned out, she was our waitress! She later stopped by, didn't introduce herself and didn't ask if we'd ever been there before, but did ask if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered Potato Pancakes. She also asked if we wanted bread service, so we said yes. We did notice from other conversations at the very close tables near ours, that many of the customers are regulars and have their favorite waitstaff. The manager had stopped by a table to regrettably inform a couple that their favorite waiter was out for 2 weeks. So, that did give us hope that if they have regulars, it must be good. The Potato Pancakes were delicious! (I didn't even stop to snap a picture because we were very hungry!) My husband ordered the "Bier" + Cheese Burger ($16.95), and I ordered the Pork Shank "Schwweinehaxe" ($34). The waitress said she had to check the availability of the Pork Shank, so I told her that if it wasn't available, to put in Chicken Wienerschnitzel. Then she didn't come back to let us know what the kitchen said. My husband flagged her down to find out if the pork shank was available, and she said she'd forgotten to come back, but that it was. He also told her that it was my birthday, so she brought out a cute birthday tea light for the table. The food was absolutely delicious, and for the price point, you can easily see why people are regulars there! The pork shank was enormous! (We ate off of it 2 more times after we took it home. The restaurant gave us extra gravy at no charge, too.) The rosemary mashed potatoes were very good! The presentation was lovely! My husband really enjoyed his burger. Then for dessert, our waitress brought out a slice of tiramisu with a wedge of chocolate cake over it, berries, whipped cream, and a little birthday candle in it. Turned out really wonderful! Will definitely go back to this unique spot!

The wait staff was attentive, making sure we had our beverages and if we needed anything before the 2 arrived. Once they arrived, the staff gave us a few minutes to make sure the 2 had a chance to look at the menus. We ordered appetizers to start...corn bread, sage fried pierogies and poutine. We weren't sure about the poutine because we didn't see any gravy, we did see the cheese curds on the fries, but once we finally dug in, the gravy was at the bottom. The pierogies were tasty. We asked if they could cut the cornbread so each of us could get a taste, which they did. Corn bread had a toasted texture, and the honey butter was delicious! Everyone ordered something different. One had fish and chips, which would seem to be a likely order for a pub. Their special for the day was a ruben. Another ordered a falafel sandwich, and I think 2 salmon BLT's and then one salad with rainbow trout. Portions were not overwhelming, but we realized that we were full from the appetizers and almost everyone ended up taking most of their main choices in doggie bags (boxes). The City Cafe & Bakery in Fayetteville seems to be a staple of the community. I visited twice now…read more&, both times, noticed groups of families and friends gathering happily to celebrate birthdays and special occasions ! Note for out-of-town visitors -- I think dining here is more about the aspect of communal dining than expectations for a truly 5-star meal, as I've found the food to be overall average. Especially for the price. The hostess is friendly and helpful. My waitresses have been attentive and kind. The service is good and consistent. The food menu is very limited in options for vegans & vegetarians. They serve beer, wine & spirits. There is a drink menu available upon request for beer, wine and spirits. There was a guitar player playing beautiful live music for the duration of my first visit (Feb 2026). During my most recent visit (8 April 2026), I ordered the Pecan Crusted grouper with red cabbage & seasonal veggies. The grouper was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside & topped with a strawberry mango fruit compote. Both the cabbage and veggies were overcooked which was disappointing bc I appreciate some good texture! The flavors were good though. So if completely softened veggies are your thing, I think you'd enjoy them. To drink, I ordered a mocktail that is new to the drink menu -- a Triple Citrus Paloma. It was refreshingly tart & garnished with a honey dipped Tajin rim! Shoutout to Lucinda for curating it. Additionally, my husband and I shared the salmon croquettes as an appetizers & I had the key lime tart to go. Neither was necessarily memorable (I completely forgot about them until prompted by Yelp to review this review) but I'd order the croquettes again! City Cafe & Bakery has a pretty vast selection of desserts! Cakes. Pies. Tarts. Petit fours. Cookies. Cannolis. Cheesecake. Eclairs. Mousse. Everything is baked in-house except the macarons. Be sure to ask about the promos. Wednesday & Thursday, purchase an adult entree get a free slice of cake or any 3" pastry. Wednesday thru Saturday, kids eat free from 3-8 pm. I also saw a flyer for their Mother's Day brunch buffet on Sunday, May 10th. It's from 11 am - 3 pm. $49 for Adults. $29 for Kids, under 12. Available for booking online.
