My girlfriend had mentioned to me that she found a Groupon for Derma Couture as she wanted to have permanent top and bottom eyeliner done. She scheduled her appointment on a Saturday and when I saw her on Monday, I immediately noticed what a beautiful job the makeup artist had done on her eyes. She told me about Hiyan, who is a board-certified permanent makeup artist and educator, and how sweet she was. She also said that she's very meticulous and obsessed with hygiene. She said that she was so happy with the eyeliner that she made an appointment to get her eyebrows done. After seeing her the following week and how beautiful her eyebrows looked, I quickly went to check to see if the Groupon deal was still available. Lucky for me, it was!!! My niece scheduled her eyeliner appointment ahead of me and stopped by the following day for me to see. All I had to say was WOW........it was perfect. I was so excited that I immediately called to make my appointment; my niece decided right there on the spot to schedule her appointment to have her eyebrows done. Third time's the charm!!! I want to start by saying that this was my third time having my eyeliner done by a permanent makeup artist. The first time was five years ago and the second time was just this past July and both times I was very disappointed. Our appointments were both scheduled for Saturday. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who had me fill out some paperwork. The reception area is small, but cozy, clean and well organized. My niece and I were offered water and tea, which I thought was a nice touch. After several minutes, we were warmly greeted by Hiyan and since she knew my niece, she gave my niece a great big hug. We were then led around to a second building in the back where I was met by Heather, Hiyan's assistant. It was well lit, clean with top of the line equipment. As we sat down for my consultation, Hiyan listened to my vision of how I wanted the eyeliner to look. She then made some suggestions based upon my eye contour and skin tone. Seeing first-hand what a beautiful job she did on my friend and niece, I left the decision on her very capable hands. After applying the topical anesthetic and waiting 30 minutes, Hiyan started to work her magic. Throughout the procedure, Hiyan and Heather both made sure that I was comfortable. When the procedure was done, Heather applied a cold compress on my eyes for approximately 20 minutes to keep the swelling at a minimum. Now when it comes to permanent cosmetics, she is by far the best although she is the only one I have been to for this exact field, I cannot imagine anyone being as patient as she was with me since it took me longer and she made sure I continued until I got it right I am beyond happy I chose Derma Couture. Earlier today I went to Derma Couture & I honestly could NOT be happier. I have been contemplating getting permanent cosmetics (specifically eyeliner) for many years. Unfortunately I had heard numerous horror stories regarding procedures, results, etc. As a result I was a bit put off & scared of such a permanent procedure. Then! I found out about Hiyan & Derma Couture. I did extensive research regarding permanent cosmetics, Hiyan's credentials, as well as the facility itself. The few reviews I had found were positive & her background was quite impressive. As a result I decided to make an appointment with Derma Couture to have my top liner done. Following is a description of today's visit. I went into the building & was greeted by Hiyan herself. She was friendly & talkative-which did a great deal to help ease my nerves. The first thing she did was take me to the area where the permanent cosmetic procedures are performed. She showed & explained all of her credentials to me- showing her pride in her work & knowledge of her field. She then explained step by step what the procedure was going to entail, eliminating what was left of my nervousness. She took me into the room, and put on some music, prepped me with the anesthetic, and made sure I was comfortable. Hiyan goes so far above and beyond-that while I was waiting for the anesthesic to kick in- she gave my friend who had accompanied me tea, a donut for breakfast, and chatted with her. When it was time for the procedure to begin, she was very personable & talked to me-so much so that I was happy to open up about my personal life (something not common with me). We chatted while she did my upper liner. She had a skillful and fast hand & was obviously extremely seasoned in her trade. It was a quick and painless procedure (absolutely NOT what I had expected). As soon as she was done, she told me about after-care, talked to me about tattoos and piercings (as I have both) and took the 'after' photographs. When it was time to leave Derma Couture Hiyan made a follow up appointment and sent my friend and I off with hugs. Overall, this experience exceeded my expectations for what I could want in a facility, permanent cosmetician, and procedure. Everything was amazing from start to finish. I met Hiyan Bitar, the owner and Board Certified Permanent Makeup Artist and Educator of Derma Couture, after doing a google search for permanent makeup training. To my surprise, Hiyan's experience as a permanent makeup artist extends beyond anything I could have expected. Her training studio showcases the countless trainings and honors she holds with The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and also The American Academy of Micropigmentation, the organization which certifies artists in NJ. I am completing my apprenticeship now, working under Hiyan's watchful eye. She has taught me more about color theory, introduced the different types of digital machines available and allowed me to try each one, and also refined my eye for detail. We have discussed trends in permanent cosmetics, how to manage client expectations and the importance of maintaining a clean facility, following sanitation procedures. I'm already thinking about attending more seminars given by Hiyan. She has a lifetime of knowledge as a tattoo artist, discusses traditional methods, but is up on all the trends and latest technology within this industry. Permanent makeup is an absolute must. Whether you want a dramatic or natural look Hiyan can make it possible. I was contemplating getting my upper lid done for months and I am so happy that I did. I finally decided to give it a chance when I received a Groupon offer for Derma Couture. Since it was my mother's birthday I decided to get one for me and one for her. Hiyan is professional, honest, and talented at what she does. She wants nothing more than to make you happy, and will not stop until you are completely satisfied. She instantly showed my mother and I her credentials and pictures of her work that she did on other clients. She explained the whole process in detail and was very accurate in her explanation. I was so thrilled with my upper lid eyeliner that as soon as I was done I knew I needed to get the bottom liner done and I immediately made another appointment. Hiyan also did my mother's eyebrows and they look awesome. Her "new" brows really define her face. Both my mother and I receive so many compliments and we are both extremely happy with the results. Everyone's pain tolerance is different but for me it was more of a ticklish feeling. My eyes were swollen for a couple of days but its all worth it in the end. Hiyan Bitar is really fantastic! I had permanent eyeliner done by someone else about 5 or 6 years ago and needed a touch up. It was originally done unevenly and only one eye was slightly flared like a "cat eye". Hiyan is so precise, she evened out the old work and made both eyes flare at the ends. She was very patient and we spent a good amount of time going over how it would look when it was done so that we both knew I would be happy. I'm thrilled with Hiyan's work and would recommend her to anyone. It's great getting up in the morning, being able to put lip gloss on and go. Even if you exercise or swim, you still look good - no running or smudged eyeliner! The first time I had permanent eyeliner applied, I remember it hurt like hell. I wasn't looking forward to that again but it turns out that I didn't have anything to worry about. Hiyan puts on a topical anesthetic and waits about a half hour before beginning. There was some discomfort towards the end but very tolerable. I was pleasantly surprised! I did have some swelling for a day or two but I applied A&D religiously twice a day for a week and everything healed great. My experience with Derma Couture began because I was a Groupon customer for the permanent eyebrow makeup, placed on the Groupon site (this was around November, 2013). I was nervous because it was going to be my first experience with any permanent makeup procedure. Hiyan's work and dedication definitely calmed my nerves! She treats all of her patients with the highest standard of care! Hiyan welcomed me into her clinic, and presented me with all of her work product in an album before we began discussing anything. This establishment is Awesome!!! The owner, Hiyan, has been the leader in this trade for over 30 years and also teaches and certifies others to perform this service. I wasn't sure what to expect when I came to Derma Couture. I actually looked for reviews on-line first and couldn't find any. That is why I felt the need to write this. Hyam Bitar (the woman who does the permanent makeup) is phenomenal. Not only does she do the permanent make up but she teachers others and is on the board to allow others to get certified. The first time I went I wasn't quite sure how to explain what I wanted. After we began I realized I she did EXACTLY what I told her but it wasn't really what I wanted. She was very patient with me and after a second visit she gave me exactly what I wanted (even though she could have charged me - she didn't). So now I wake up in the middle of the night to use the rest room and I get a look at myself in the mirror and WOW - I am all made up for bed! I just completed training at D.C. Hiyan is such a great teacher and I am so glad I found her! Nadia is really great too! A lot of the other "microblading courses" out there do not give a fraction of the knowledge needed to actually perform permanent cosmetics. Hiyan teaches all of it. If you are considering a career in permanent cosmetics I'd highly recommend Derma Couture. Do not waste your money on the other courses out there because you will not learn everything that is needed to legally practice. My instructor Hada was very well experienced in cosmetics industry and had shared a lot of real life experience in working with different clients. She showcased different techniques in creating unique eyebrows, eyeliner and lip liners with styles for people with different expectations and needs. Got upper and lower eyeliner done today by Hiyan Bitar, the owner of DermaCouture Permanent Cosmetics. I was SO happy with the result that I've decided to get the brows done as well. As per my wonderful experience, Hiyan is an exceptional professional dedicated to the customer. Precise application - even though my case was anything but easy. Of course I spent substantially more than $99 that I paid for LivingSocial coupon (as I was not going to settle on a basic liner - upper or lower - with no "extras"), but considering the quality of service and the amount of time dedicated (entire workday for one customer in my case), I would say the pricing is VERY reasonable. Today was my graduation day.
