Immediate Pain & Acknowledgment: Immediately after the wax removal, I informed the esthetician, Treasure, that the areas above and between my eyebrows were extremely painful. Negligent Aftercare: I questioned whether a proper post-wax cleanser (such as rubbing alcohol) had been used. Treasure confirmed that "No" such cleanser was applied. I was only advised to use a generic ointment and Vitamin E oil. Upon returning home, the painful area above and between my eyebrows became severely red and inflamed. I subsequently confirmed that the skin in these blotches-on both sides above the brow and between the brows-had been physically lifted and removed (skin abrasion/burn). Current State of Injury: The damaged area has progressed from red to pink and is now a noticeable brown/hyperpigmented color. Permanent Damage: The injury to the skin, particularly above the left eyebrow, remains visible even after two professional consultations, indicating permanent damage and a high risk of long-term scarring. Worst facial experience ever!!! I went here for a simple extraction facial before a wedding and I walked out with ringworm on both sides of my face. I literally had a clear face, but I figured since I was gonna be a bridesmaid I should splurge on removing some blackheads. Two months later, I'm still seeing a dermatologist about the scarring and constant itch on both my cheeks. I've gotten facials before and I have never in my life ever had an adverse reaction such as the one I did at this place. I still cannot wear makeup because when I do the bubbles brew again and the itch is unbelievable. Every time I sweat, the redness and scales flare up. Needless to say, we're in the middle of summer. I have not been able to go to beaches or outings. This literally ruined my face forever. I will post pictures so you guys can see. To add insult to injury, after leaving the spa I immediately contacted Kate telling her that my face was extremely red and itchy. I even showed up to the office. When she saw me, she didn't even remember what treatment I had just received. Her words were, "you got a microdermabrasion right?" Wrong. Her second guess, "a chemical peel" wrong again. After I refreshed her memory of the client she had just literally saw 1 hour ago, her solution was I go buy over-the-counter hydrocortisone and not wear any makeup. She asked if I have sensitive skin, if she would have read the initial intake, she would have known I don't. I put all types of different products on my face whether it be cleansers, toners, face masks, moisturizers and makeup brands and I have never ever broken out like I did that day. Either way I went to CVS and I applied the ointment immediately. Hoping to God my face would be back to normal for the wedding. The next day I was forced to show up to the wedding bare face (the worst feeling ever) while my face was burning the entire time due to me sweating. Not to mention, I had red spots for new pimples everywhere. As the days progressed, I kept in contact with her advising her that my face was getting worst and the allergic reaction was spreading. Also, there was big pimples and new acne that has sprouted after the facial. I kinda had a feeling her equipment was most probably unsanitary because of how much my face was itching immediately after leaving. Still I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I made an appointment to my dermatologist, and when I went in to see him he immediately said I had ringworm. I assumed that from the scaly red itchy circles I had on my face. He gave me an ointment, and it still itches from time to time. But what's worst is that I know have two scars. Every time I still wear makeup it itches uncontrollably. My face will never be the same. I contacted Kate a week later asking for a refund to which her reply was she could only give me 50% back. I told her that's fine and proceeded to file a complaint with my credit card company. I'm still looking to sue this establishment for ruining my face. Stay clear from this place. Not only is it wrong to do this to someone who paid a decent amount of money, you wash your hands of it, and then not even offer to credit me back. This place has no ethics, no loyalty to their customer and is not clean whatsoever. I went to Montclair to get an upscale facial when I could have very well went to any place on Groupon and would have gotten better services. I was steered by the reviews, but seriously don't let that blind you. Protect your face and try some place that values their client's skin. Don't say I didn't warn you. I've been here twice for facials with Treasure. The salon is a cute small location tucked away in one of the buildings on Bloomfield ave. A bit hard to find the first day but once you're there, the ambiance is very nice. The treatment room is very relaxing. I felt that Treasure was very knowledgeable and she gave me advice on what products to be using and what would work for my skin. I took her advice and saw a difference with that.
