2 stars for the friendly staff and the nice office. Unfortunately, my appointment with Dr. Gergana Gallacher was, without question, the worst medical experience I have ever had. I came in seeking help for a medical concern and left feeling exposed, judged, and dismissed. After discussing a few different treatment options, Dr. Gallacher informed me that the visit would be billed as an office visit. When I asked whether the recommended treatments would be covered within the office visit or billed separately through insurance, she responded in a dismissive tone, "No one has ever asked me that before," which made me feel like my role was simply to accept her recommendations rather than participate in decisions about my own care. I explained that I wanted to confirm coverage before proceeding and asked if someone in the office could help verify it. I was told the billing administrator was unavailable. I then asked for the billing codes so I could contact my insurance company myself. Dr. Gallacher returned with a piece of paper containing seven numbers scribbled on it-no descriptions, no explanation of which code belonged to which procedure, nothing. After handing me the paper, she said, "I'm going to need you to get dressed because I need the room for another patient." At this point, I was still undressed and wearing a gown. I was taken back by how abruptly the appointment ended. I assumed there would be a brief opportunity to discuss next steps or confirm the information provided. Instead, I felt rushed out of the room simply because I asked questions before proceeding with treatment. Ultimately, this experience made me feel less like a patient and more like an inconvenience. No patient should ever leave a doctor's office feeling this way for asking reasonable questions about their care and the associated costs. I will be going elsewhere. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Gallagher for five years and have been consistently happy with her care and her practice. Dr. Gallagher is very knowledgeable about different treatment options and she takes her time to make sure you are getting the results you are seeking. She is friendly and has a wonderful bed side manner, and she makes herself available if you have questions after care. Her staff is wonderful and accommodating and her practice is top notch. When I had visited their office it was under the understanding they accepted my insurance. When I arrived the front desk asked me for $175 .... instead of a copay. This was a medical visit .... I spoke to the doctor a few days after regarding this issue and we had resolved it .... so I thought .... months later I started receiving bills from the office from this visit and finally got a call from their accounts receivable person name Barbara (who made it clear she has been working in this field for 30 years) stating that they were not obligated to bill my insurance and that they are insisting the customer pay directly. She threatened with collections and such .... I told her exactly what happened and what went on but Barbara was more insistent in challenging me and wanting to win the conversation instead of listening. IF YOU HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS PRACTICE PLEASE MESSAGE ME .... we will file complaints together to the proper people. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Gallacher. She has been my dermatologist and go-to for any kind of skin or cosmetic issue for several years now and she is consistently excellent. So unprofessional! I had a 1:30 appointment, they called and asked if I would please come in at 1:00 instead. I sat in the waiting room until 1:26 and then decided to check to see where the Dr. was. When I went to the front desk Dr. Gallagher was sitting in a chair leaning back talking to the gal at the front desk! I was shocked! I asked why they asked me to come in early and then left me waiting for a half hour. All she did was come up with excuses that didn't make any sense and on top of it the Dr was rude! I will NEVER step foot in that office again! This is not about the fact that I waited 30 minutes, this is about how it was handled!!! Regarding the Drs reply to me below. I was not invited several times to be seen. After I asked why they asked me to come in 30 minutes early then made me sit there for 30 minutes, then you asked if I wanted to be seen now. With the 1:30 patient standing behind me waiting to be seen.! This appt was to a follow up procedure done by you that I was not happy with and wanted a follow up appointment! Oh and again, why did you call me and ask me to come in at 1:00 instead of 1:30??? Is the fact that you were talking about another patient for 30 minutes supposed to be a good excuse? By the way, that was the 3rd excuse you gave. The first one was you thought they numbed me and you were waiting for me to be numb, the second excuse had to do with Covid and how the new procedures are making things difficult. This is a 0 star review. I had an appointment at 1:00 pm, went there on time and the frond desk assistant was kind enough to put me in a room to wait for Dr. Gallacher. I waited 50 minutes and around 1:50pm I went out to the front desk to ask if the doctor even know I am here. The girls said that Dr. Gallacher knows but she is with another patient and will be starting a procedure. And she said,"Oh, I can ask her to come see you before she starts the procedure " What?!?! Ok, 5 minute later the doctor showed up rushing and without any apology that she is late. She checked my dermatology complaint and immediately she said "I can do this but I don't have time today you have to come another day". Then I asked her how long the procedure usually takes-she said 20 minutes. The total time my evaluation lasted was 5 minutes, I asked the girl on the front desk how much time I as a patient had reserved with Dr. Gallagher today, she said 30 minutes. I came across this office on Instagram. What attracted me was the diamond glow facial. I had a similar treatment done before, a hydrafacial, which I loved. I called to book an appointment. I first had a zoom consult with the doctor. I told her my main skin concerns and she went over the procedure with me. They were quick to get me in the following week. The office is beautiful and easy to get to (right by downtown Danville and off of 680). The gal at the front greeted me and then took me in the back and went over the treatment with me. She made me feel very comfortable. The procedure was relaxing and only took about 30 min. She then recommended some skincare products, because I mentioned I was currently just using drugstore products. My skin feels fresh and rejuvenated and I am excited to see what it looks like after I finish all my treatments! I definitely recommend this derm office! read more

Now by that I would think if she truly is there to help every single person's dermatology problem. She would have common decency to make time to evaluate me as a new patient. Ask me questions about my skin and advise me or provide some information to help my skin problem. After just telling this doctor the skin flare up on my right ear area and scalp. Without even thoroughly checking my skin. She immediately just told me ...I'm going to prescribed you a stronger medication. NEVER even took time to explain what she's giving me . NEVER ask me if I'm allergic to steroid? Just wrote the prescription . I tried to ask her how long and I should apply. Her respond just put it until it goes away. THIS doctor is PATHETIC!! I definitely felt so RUSHED. Dr. Gallacher is absolutely the best and most caring dermatologist anyone could ever hope to find. What a smart, warm person she is! Both my wife and I have been under her watchful eye [we do love the Sun, but it doesn't always love fair skin in return] since 2006. And, while she's usually found "small stuff" that was easily zapped away ... on a very recent occasion, [details omitted] she found something bad, but early!! - nothing escapes her attention. And, when the surgeon's office scheduled a procedure a bit too far down the road for Dr. Gallacher's comfort level, she aggressively got involved to make sure changes were made ... even twice making special time for office visits on Saturdays. But the doctor was so sweet and made me feel very comfortable. She noticed a spot on my back that she wanted to biopsy. So glad she did because I do have a family history of skin cancer. Wish I would have read the bad reviews for this doctor before I made my appointment. I called the office for a same day appointment for pain I was having. They had availability and so I drove over. However, she had me wait over 45 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment time. Once she did see me, she told me there was nothing she could do because my insurance wouldn't cover it. BS! However, she did tell me that I could pay $200 cash and she could fix it. Does that sound like the response of an ethical doctor? Asking for cash beyond a co-pay violates her contracted agreement with insurance companies and her refusing to help without upfront cash payment (beyond co-pay) is also a violation of the hippocratic oath. In my opinion she has lost track of why one becomes a doctor. She is purely money driven which is probably why there are brochures and advertisements for all these non-essential cosmetic procedures scattered throughout her office. After leaving her office I went to another doctor who promptly addressed my issue with an in-office procedure and he was astounded when I conveyed what had just happened at this office. With so many options for providers, you really owe it to yourself to find a good doctor who is driven by providing quality care. Gergana is not one of those doctors. read more

Dr. Gergana Gallacher is a fantastic lady and professional. My mother has been going to her for years and we both can't say enough wonderful things about her work. She provides many services and is always happy to take time to discuss your options as well as any concerns you may have prior to any procedures. Just last month I had the privilege of her expertise for an unfortunate capillary growth that developed on my upper lip. Thanks to an over abundance of hormones due to my current pregnancy, 95% of pregnant women who develop these benign growths go away on their own. I happen to fall in the later 5% that needed to have a procedure done to remove the growth. She wisely suggested given the size and location of the growth, that I go to a plastic surgeon. Dr. Gallacher gave me a wonderful referral to Dr. Atteran located in the Victorian Buildings on San Ramon Valley Blvd. This was truly a blessing. Once Dr. Atteran began the procedure, he quickly realized there was muscle damage that he needed to correct as to prevent the growth from reoccurring. Not only is the unattractive growth gone, but I have absolutely no scaring either!!! His exact words were, "That Dr. Gallacher was a smart lady to send you to me." And I couldn't agree more! After being treated at Laser Away for laser hair removal on my upper lip I was unfortunately left with a darker pigmentation. I started to notice this just after my second treatment and was so upset (stay away from Groupon ladies). So, I decided to go to a real dermatologist and I am so happy that I did! Dr. Gallacher explained what had caused the pigmentation, she was very knowledgeable about the lasers and made me feel so much better. Just a few laser treatments and my skin is back to normal! The Dermatology & Laser is wonderful! It advocates for its patients by helping them to understand their health insurance benefits and by appealing wrongful denials of insurance claims. My aunt, who is a senior, has been a patient of Dr. Gallacher for several years. Recently, she sought help with a claim billed to her Medicare supplemental insurance that was provided by a trade union pension plan. The claim was not being paid and the insurance administrator and the owner/trade union gave conflicting reasons for the denial. Dr. Gallacher's office resolved the issue in less than one week. Additionally, the office discovered that the trade union was charging an excessive amount for the health care premiums. The cost, deducted from my deceased uncle's small pension, was more than 80% of the pension benefits. Dr. Gallacher's office explained to my aunt that she could receive the same secondary coverage from other health insurance payers like United Health Care/AARP Supplemental or Medicare Advantage PPO plans at a much lower premium than that of the trade union. The office provided an Excel spreadsheet of premium comparisons and corresponding websites. Thankfully, my aunt now receives her husband's full pension and enjoys paying much less for her newly acquired medical coverage. read more

Dear Future Clients of the office of Gergana Gallacher, M.D., Be very careful when paying for services rendered from this office. We had an issue regarding our billing statement for over a year now. We went to Dr. Gergana Gallacher. Dr. Gallacher was within our insurance network, but the Dermatology & Laser Centre was not. As a result, these individuals billed us $800 at an out-of-network rate. We tried contacting this office 5-7 times through the phone, through mail, as well as in person to rectify this issue only to have all requests for us to be billed in-network ignored. Everyone makes mistakes. However from my experience with insurance-related issues every other office was able to fix these issues immediately. I do not understand why this specific office is unable to fix such a simple thing. read more

Her service and bedside manners are horrible! I was referred to her by my primary doctor. I made an appt to see Dr Gallacher for a medical/skin issue...not cosmetic. My appt was at 1:30, and she didn't walk-in to the room until 2:45! Wow....how inconsiderate and disrespectful. I show her my skin and she tells me it's one thing. I show her my biopsy results and she said "oh, well this is largely caused by stress, so I think you should take a vacation." Ha. Yeah....what an insult. What a waste of my precious time. ***BEWARE*** This office is a mess!! Stay clear! I received a call from the billing department mid December stating they had an issue with their past biller not registering payments clients made and asked if we can show proof of payment back to 2014. Are you kidding me! It was a $30 copay. Within less than a week of their call, they put me into collections (mind you again, this was for a copay back in 2014 that was paid). Now due to their incompetence and providing me NO time to look back 3 years, the interest on this copay has now gone up $10. I took care of my end and made payment, not my fault they couldn't hire someone competent enough to take care of the books. Horrible business ethics. read more

I could not be more satisfied with the work I have done with Dr. Gallacher. She is simply at the top of her game professionally. I have done all my injectibles, fillers, cosmetic procedures with her. Now my skin looks 10 years younger. SO worth it! She is very conservative in her approach, which results in a very natural look. She is extremely meticulous and spends a ton of time with me at each and every visit. She also helped me with 2 different skin cancers. She discovered a skin cancer on my lower eyelid i never would have discovered (even though I'm hypervigilant). I trust Dr. Gallacher implicitly with all my dermatalogic needs. She is the best in the area, period. I have used most of the other dermatologists around (or my friends) and we all agree Dr. G is the BEST! After having multiple doctors incorrectly treat an ever worsening skin and nail condition, Dr. Gallacher "nailed" it - I am finally getting the relief that I've been seeking! I found Dr. Gallacher to be very personable, caring, and highly competent. She advocates for what is best for me, not what my insurance company wants to pay for. She has additional post-doctoral training and expertise, so I trust her professional judgment. Regarding the negative reviews about billing issues... I worked in medical billing for years, and it's deceptively complex. People often blame office and billing staff for issues that stem from the insurance companies. Outsourced billing companies are often difficult to work with and are less than competent... and pulling the work back in-house is very challenging. I see doctors for their medical advice, expertise, and surgical skills - so I'll give them some grace on business and billing practices! Regarding the negative comments about costs... All healthcare tends to be expensive nowadays. Running an office is very expensive, as is medical technology and equipment. Doctors spend many years accruing enormous debt while learning how to competently care for our health, and save our lives. The way I see it, Dr. Gallacher's 5 minute consultation distilled many years of specialized education and experience to efficiently focus on my situation, and solve my problem where other's could not. ****CAUTION**** Like many other reviews I too have had the same billing problems with Dr. Gergana Gallacher. I had some unwanted moles removed and paid what was told to me in full for the appointment on the same day. In fact the charge was very expensive in my mind at the time but I paid in full $850.00 anyway. I had a follow up appointment a month later and paid another $85 for some needed touch ups on the areas already treated but did not completely remove the mole. Again I am under the impression I am paying in full and do not owe any further payments. I like others over a year later was told I owed an additional $152.34 for the 2 appointments. And I have now had my account turned over to a collection agency Rash Curtis Associates. read more

*** WARNING *** The Dermatology and Laser Centre / Gergana Gallacher, M.D., is a poorly ran business with horrible customer service. My experience largely relates to their negligent billing department where they didn't bill me post insurance. However, nearly one year later they refused to see my daughter until the unbilled and known balance was paid in full. Having no idea there was a balance due, I promptly paid despite being surprised by an outstanding balance. It was explained to me that they were migrating their billing services in-house and many bills had never been sent out by the prior service provider. Unexpectedly, I received a bill in October '16 and called them to find out why I was receiving another bill, they said sounds like a duplicate and to disregard it. Then, in November '16, I received two bills despite only one new service being rendered (in July '16), so I called on Nov 28th. I was told that they would review all services rendered and my billing/payment history and call me back. However, the next call I received was from a collection agency. Wow, a collection agency!! Shocked, I called Gallacher's office still trying to understand what the bill was for. Rather than being helpful, Barbara (billing) was rude, unhelpful, inaccurate, and antagonizing. Barbara was so ever "kind" to inform me that against the advice of the collection agency, she was speaking to me as a "courtesy"! Amazing, trying to reconcile their messed up billing services is a courtesy. Nicely done Gallacher! I surrendered!! Having spent more time than this was worth, I called the collection agency to pay whatever and end the madness. I'm not even sure I owed them, but it was not worth the hassle to drag the issue out any further. So, here is the net of my experience and hope yours is better: Dr. Gallacher was nearly an unapologetic hour late for an appointment, charged $184.44 for 5 minutes of her time tops, and sent me to collections as a result of their negligent and admittedly incompetent billing practices. Dr. Gallacher is wonderful! She is so knowledgeable, she solved a scalp issue that drove me crazy for years. I had been to numerous specialists with no solution found. I happened to mention it to Dr. Gallacher. I did not think she would know what to do after all the others were unsuccessful, but she treated me effectively. Finally it is better and very close to being completely eradicated! She is also in, my opinion, an artist. She is expert at anti aging and cosmetic procedures. She helps you look great and natural. Rip off! I waited over 40 min to be seen for 10 minutes by her. I was charged $70 for the office visit and $150 for freezing 7 spots. PLUS they billed my insurance for freezing 15+ spots! My insurance didn't pay anything then I get the bill. I was told 3 different stories when I called - the first was to disregard the bill. Dr. Gallacher is a VERY skilled medical doctor. I had tried Botox previously with other practitioners and was so dissatisfied with the results as my forehead always turned out overdone and my eyebrows always dropped resulting in a "heavy" angry look. I swore I would never use Botox again even though my forehead furrows were deep and really bothered me, I just hated how my eyebrows ended up looking after the Botox injections. Then a friend referred me to Dr. Gallacher for fillers and I loved how she fixed my nasolabial folds with Restylane, they disappeared and I loved the result. I told her I was afraid of Botox because of how badly my eyebrows looked and she explained what happened with my past results: The other Docs did improper placement of the Botox injections. Well, I decided to take my chances on Dr. Gallacher and I am so glad I did, the results were AMAZING! My forehead turned out smooth yet very natural looking and my eyebrows didn't drop at all! I looked refreshed and happy and about 10 years younger! Now I go get injections every 5-6 months when the injections wear off and I feel I need a "refresh". I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Gallacher, she is such a skilled technician. You cannot go wrong with this Dermatologist, she is an expert in her field and is so current on all the latest procedures in her field.
