As a previous review commented, I am disappointed to write this review, although one should be aware before making an appointment. Wallach Derma Center came as a doctor referral as I wanted an annual routine appointment. I made an appointment and went in on December 30th, 2025. Very nice office, all staff was friendly and efficient. Dermatologist and assistant cut off 2 moles for biopsy and froze a couple of "concern" areas all in a matter of roughly 45 minutes. I paid a $50 co-pay. After a couple of weeks, I received a lab fee for just over $250, which I understand and paid. This week I received an additional invoice from Wallach for over $370 for my patient portion of the visit. I have attached the invoice with over $1,000 in charges for the 45 mins visit on 12/30/25. My insurance covered roughly $625 of these charges. I reached out to Wallach stating I felt these charges were excessive and asked for a review. I received an email back the following day stating they were correct with no adjustments. For a routine check-up to ultimately cost me over $670 out of pocket with good insurance is a complete rip off. Make sure you do your due diligence as all dermatologists are not the same. I am really disappointed to write this. My daughter has been treated here for acne and the regimen prescribed worked well enough. I brought her back in Sep. '23 for two warts on her thumb and hand. Nurse Sarah applied "beetle juice" to it and scheduled a follow up. It pretty much burned a hole in her hand but she said to expect that. We went back two weeks later for the follow up appt where she again applied beetle juice to it a second time. We paid $45 copays for both visits plus a "surgery" fee for the second visit of $143, plus they received two payments from our insurance for both visits. After two treatments here, the wart still hadn't completely gone away on either her thumb or her hand! I scheduled a third appt for her in May of this year, this time with Dr. Wallach, for another follow up on the warts. Rather than a third application of beetle juice, this time he sprayed it with liquid nitrogen to freeze it off. Except he really sprayed the HECK out of her hand. See the attached picture of what it looked like SEVEN DAYS AFTER he sprayed it. This burned hole in her hand was originally twice this size and twice as deep immediately following his freezing treatment. I have personally never had a wart in my life so I have zero experience with getting them frozen off, so I didn't know if this was normal or not. My daughter said it was extremely painful and complained to me daily about how much her hand hurt. It eventually healed over but she still a "ring" around the previously frozen wart of where a new wart has regrown. So we have taken her here 3x for wart removal on the same spot and despite literally burning a hole in her hand, they haven't been able to completely eradicate what was originally a very small wart on her thumb. Imagine my surprise when I received yet another bill in the mail a month later for "surgery" again for another $143, again after I had paid a third copay of $45 and Dr. Wallach had received a third payment from our insurance for this visit. I called to complain about how my daughter's treatment badly burned a hole in her hand, that I thought we were going in for a follow up and didn't think we should have to pay for the damage he caused to her hand, and the wart was still present despite all this pain she had gone through. The receptionist said she would pass my concern on to Dr. Wallach. I then received a voicemail from Dr. Wallach saying that sometimes this happens and asked me to bring my daughter back in so he could take a look at her hand. It was a month later by this point and healed over, what did he think he was going to look at? I also didn't want to get stuck paying a fourth $45 copay to visit them again. But more importantly, my daughter begged me not to bring her back here, understandably. I didn't contact him back and they never contacted me again. I didn't know if they had written off the $143 or not because he never addressed my question about the bill in his voicemail. Another month passes and despite my complaint, Dr. Wallach's office sends me yet another bill for the $143 again for the third visit. I paid it, because I always pay my bills, but now I'm leaving this review to warn others. Don't come here for wart removal unless this is the result you want. I am now taking her to a new dermatologist to get their recommendation on what to do for the remaining wart on her thumb! read more

I decided to go to a professional dermatologist's office thinking they would have more expertise on what laser would remove my multitude of sunspots and freckles. First off, I was surprised to find out at the office the consultation is $500 and if you don't go with a treatment, you lose those funds. The nurse practitioner said there are only 2 types of laser treatments, one was over $2000 with a longer downtime and there was another less severe one for around $1000. I was surprised by the pricing because I've paid for laser before but at the time felt locked in to move forward with a treatment thinking I would have successful results.  Over $1000 dollars later, not a single sunspot was removed and now I can't get them to respond to the 2nd follow up appointment I was verbally promised by Sarah Broome, the nurse practitioner. She said I had too many to get the first time and she would get the rest on the follow up appointment.  Given I had no successful results from the first painful experience, I was very hesitant to go back on top of my skin being sensitive from the treatment. Also, it's not easy to find the time to walk around town with scabs all over your face for a week. After waiting a period of time and finally finding a week where I can find time to lay low, I finally called back last week and now they're giving me the run around saying there isn't anything in their 'notes' about a follow up appointment. The front desk said because I waited too long (8 months), Dr. Wallach would have to call me back for approval but it's been a few days and still no response unless I post here. If there was a time limit on the follow up appointment, they should have notified me of it. Having seen a laser specialist before who made my skin flawless, I would think this dermatologist's office would know what type of lasers work on certain types of skin. They do not and I've had 100% successful results from other clinics at a much cheaper price. Overall, I'm severely disappointed about having no results from the treatment, their high prices and their responses so I definitely don't recommend them for laser treatments. read more

I see Dr. Adam Wallach annually for routine skin checkups. Recently, I brought up concerns about a general aged look to my face which had gradually developed, as well as numerous sunspots which had become very dark and noticeable. Dr. Wallach gave me a thoughtful and insightful explanation as to what could be done to address my concerns. I was grateful and impressed by his addressing my specific facial skin concerns and creating a treatment plan just "for me." After his laser treatment to remove the sun spots and rejuvenate my skin, I have to say my face hasn't looked this good for at least 10 years (and my husband agrees). My skin is much smoother and the sunspots and wrinkles are pretty much gone. I find Dr. Wallach to be an extremely skilled, experienced, and compassionate clinician with extraordinary technical skills, and I highly recommend him for your skin care needs. read more

Kind, caring, professional. I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience with Dr Wallach. I went in for a non cosmetic checkup. From initial impression he seems like such a nice person. He takes the time to listen. Never feels rushed. He then proceeded into the most thorough dermatology exam I've ever gotten. He quickly identified areas of concern and treated without any discomfort. I just returned for a follow up check and was equally as impressed. He does seem to offer a variety of cosmetic treatment options, but I never felt pressured to do any additional procedures. My son and I had a fantastic visit with Kathy VanCleave, the nurse practitioner. We both had some spots to check out and she had to freeze off 4 warts for him. Both she and the PA were over the top patient, kind and wonderful with him throughout the uncomfortable procedure. When I began my search for dermatologists in the East Bay, I carefully combed through reviews, photos, websites, and doctor ratings to find the best. This brought me to Wallach Derma Center. Teenage acne was no competition to the hormonal adult acne I have suffered with for many years (I'm 30, so it's been awhile). I was at the tipping point of this battle, and came to Dr. Wallach + his staff with my palms up, feeling defeated and in dire need of help. We discussed methods I tried in the past (oral, topical, peels, etc, etc), and decided Isotretonoin (Acutane) was our best bet to knock this out. After 8 months of treatment and monthly visits, I am acne free (for the first time in ~15 years), and feeling the most confident I have ever felt in my makeup-free skin. I have been seeing Dr Wallach for many years now and I can honestly say that he is the best in his field. He really takes his time with me and has always been extremely thorough with all of my skin related issues. I have recently started seeing him regarding some cosmetic procedures as well and he has done such a good job at taking years off my face, but still keeps me looking very natural. I have one word for this practice. WOW! I needed to find a dermatologist to go on a 2nd round of accutane. Anyone who has had to be on it knows what a MASSIVE pain in the ass the stupid iPledge system is. The system is so difficult to time correctly, it's the reason I didn't finish the full round of the drug the first time I was on it. After trying a dermatologist in Walnut Creek and having them screw up the iPledge three different times, I started searching for someone new and found Wallach Derma Center. Everyone here is on top of their game when dealing with the tricky iPledge crap. They were excellent about entering my labwork on time and making sure my prescription was never delayed. Everyone was wonderful, but I have to give a massive shout out and big THANK YOU specifically to Zita. She was always there to help out when I had a million questions and always made sure everything was done in a timely manner. She is a superstar and I'm so thankful for her. I liked this Dr Wallach! I have dry skin issues, nothing really serious, but very hard to treat. He told me like it was, told me how eczema was hard to treat how Dr's couldn't always tell what causes it. He brain stormed ideas about how to treat it based on his experience and knowledge. I have seen many derms about this because non have been able to help me. Dr Wallach helped me get rid of my eczema because he helped me narrow the cause down to Contra Costa County WATER or a chemical in the water!!! I purchased a water filtration system for my shower water and all my skin conditions cleared up. read more

Dr. Wallach was exactly what I've wanted,after years of seeing other dermatologists who seemed to brush me off. Wallach Derma offers a soothing setting to get answers and treatment for your not so favorable problems with your skin. His staff is extremely professional and compassionate. They are totally non-judgemental and very solution orientated.(I can't tell you how many times I have left previous dermatogists offices, feeling like I had been dismissed). I have struggled with adult acne for years and I can say that after seeing Dr. Wallach, I no longer struggle with acne. I can't tell you what a blessing this has been for me. It felt like I had to have the worst case of acne to ever get any doctor's attention. Years and years of struggling with this, really brought me down. Dr. Wallach assured me that no one should feel like this, and offered SOLUTIONS. He seemed to be very current on the trends, data, and procedures. Best yet, I didn't feel like he was pushing me towards getting uneccesary treatment (which I often feel like when I go to a dentist. They come out with a whole folder worth of upgrades you should be doing, and you leave feeling totally deflated). Since I was in there, I also asked him about general flaws I saw when I looked in the mirror. He gave me an honest assesment about the wrinkling under my eyes ( I have a few years before I need to worry about that), and reviewed some moles and tags that had been concerning me. Dr. Wallach has a loyal following of customers who absolutely adore him (as I've heard them in the waiting room). I first went to Dr. Wallach 6 years ago when I had a horrible case of poison oak on my arm. His calm and present demeanor really stood out to me, and helped me feel more relaxed and assured that I was in good hands. He really listened and spent a good amount of time with me to fully understand my skin concern. I didn't feel rushed out the door like I do with other doctors. It seems as though he really cares about each patient. He is also very knowledgeable, and was able to connect my allergic reaction to poison oak to the skin reaction I get when I eat mangos. They both have urushiol oil, which apparently, my skin reacts to! His diagnosis and treatments were perfect, so he earned my trust, and I've been seeing him ever since. More recently, I've seen Dr. Wallach for Botox and Dysport, and I found, again, he really listens to what it is I'm looking for, and administers the correct amount so that it still looks natural, with no bruising. Having sensitive, pale skin, I've always had skin issues (moles, rashes, acne, easy to wrinkle, easy to sunburn), and it is such a relief to have found a dermatologist who is so professional and knowledgeable. I also trust that he is not pushing unnecessary treatments on me, and has my best interest in mind. His staff is also incredibly helpful and cheerful, and the office is beautiful and relaxed. So disappointed in the staff & service. My background: I booked an appointment to see Dr.Wallach. Instead, I saw the nurse. I was there for a rash. While there I inquired about other services as a discussion with the nurse as she was checking my skin. The recorder taking notes took & copied and pasted paragraphs of "consultation" notes. Not true. Billing went to my insurance as if Dr.Wallach saw me -not the nurse. My rash continued to spread & I did see Dr. Wallach. I explained how the false information listed as a consultation was not true and I wanted it removed. I also asked for copy of my 1st and 2nd visit. I was NOT provided any visit notes when I left. I went back to find out my biopsy findings (3rd and final visit) again left without any notes from the appointment. Accounting called me for payment-no problem paid for all visits to have zero balance. I requested copies of invoices to be sent to me and doctor notes. Never got anything. My recent follow up to get the doctor notes- I was directed to go to their website and print it out myself. There were excuses why it would take weeks to get hard copies. My response was so "this is a selfservice'? Yes, I was told I could print out my notes. I was provided the website and was told if I needed help to call back. I personally want to see the appointment notes before leaving. I had to blindly pay my invoice. I will not go back. Apparently, in chatting with my good friend who also went to Dr. Wallach's office experienced the exact same experience. read more

This is my first time to go see Dr. Wallach... I actually went to get a second opinion. Dr. Wallach has excellent bedside manner. He explained my condition thoroughly and discussed various treatment options with me as well... It is obvious that he is a very knowledgeable doctor and is watching out for the patients. He told me that we could consider treatment but the chance of the condition returning is very high. Since my condition is not serious and common, it is really up to me if I want to have it treated or not. I did have to wait awhile in the exam room before he was ready to see me. Although he was already running behind... He did not rush with me and spend quite a bit of tme with me explaining my condition to me that is supposedly very common and not serious. I feel I made the right decision to go see Dr. Wallach. I would rather wait for a competent and caring doctor instead of seeing someone that is quick and doesn't explain my condition to me. read more

Dr Wallach is one of the most talented and compassionate doctors i have ever met, in any field. I had a dark mole on my back that Dr Wallach identified correctly as a melanoma. He explained clearly what it was, the risks to not removing it, and prepared me mentally for the surgery. He removed it with virtually no pain, and there was little scarring. Dr. Wallach is a very thorough and professional dermatologist with a very clean and welcoming office & staff as well as the latest and most up to date equipment such as lasers etc. I make sure to book an appointment with Dr. Wallach in advance every time I go home to California as he is often booked. I also like that they have an aesthetician on staff who gives great microdermabrasian treatments. They also have a Visia facial analysis system that can measure your pore size, wrinkles, sun damage on your skin to see what treatments would be beneficial for each individual. I love the Kinerase retinal cream I got there and they Glytone sunscreen that I picked up from the office the last time I was there. They also sell Jane Ireldale mineral cosmetics there which I love. Dr. Wallach is very friendly and easy to talk to and does not try to rush you out like a lot of Doctors do. He really listens and cares about his patients. Bad doctor, bad bedside manner. My friend went here and had the worst ever experience. He told her to do things that only a doctor could do instead of asking her to come back so that he could do the task. It caused so many problem and her wound did not heal for a YEAR as a result. Also he is so rude how he let's everyone wait for hours in the waiting room with no regard for their time as if the world revolves around him. Completely arrogant. Worst experience. My sister was supposed to start accutane in January, but because they were so STUPID they didn't register her online, so she is unable to start the medication for another 30 days. Never go here, the doctor is cocky and the staff is uneducated!!!!!!! read more
